Well, this is -either- a hardware problem, or a software problem. You can find the "Return to Stock" thread, and flash the entire SBF for your Model/Carrier from here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0
This will replace your entire filesystem, and repair any corruption that may be present. You will be back to 100% STOCK filesystem.
If a FULL SBF to stock does not fix the problem, it is most likely a hardware issue. Hope your phone is still under warranty.
Good Luck.

Thanks, The phone now is on the way back to the seller.
Moto X was bought via Amazon.com from WIRELESS WORKS.
NEVER MORE. The box was not original but some fake, the phone is non workable, the accesories is China made and again no original.
The phone was sold as NEW ORIGINAL XT1053 but comes XT1058 AT&T
After few angry mails to Amazon the seller accpet return and I hope my money will be return.
So watch out even in amazon for tricky sellers.
Best Regards, Nick

Blackstone bricks!! Please help!!!!

Hello guy,
After flashing new rom (official release) on my Blackstone, works fine for a month, after start the home screen being black like the phone is off but he was not. I try first hard reset from the button located next to the sim card, splash screen appears after went black again. I did not realized is a problem with the screen and I perform a hard reset (volume up+down & power up) . The phone perform the hard reset because I heard the power up sound, plus for about one minute I have the screen on, asking me to make the screen line up. During the screen line up the screen went black again and no way to see it showing something again. The problem is in active sync the phone is not recognized anymore, I can't flash it again (I try run RUU but give a error message to connect the phone) plus I'm going blind without seeing anything on the screen. My question is there is any way to solve this problem.
Thank you in advance.
Although screen is black, you should still be able to get into bootloader by normal procedure (turn off device, hold vol down & then press power on). Once in bootloader try flashing (you may wanna try returning phone to stock rom as it sounds like your screen has become loose from motherboard and needs fixed under warranty).
To return to stock rom follow guidelines at bottom of first post in this thread.
Still not working
Thank you for the quick reply, I manage to flash it again with the original rom, but nothing happen, the screen is still black. Probably as you said is something wrong with the display. Another problem is I don't have any more warranty; maybe there is a solution to solve the problem?
The Blackstone is out for less than one Year. Your should really have warranty. oO
Yes you wright but I’m 10000 km from home where who knows where the receipt is. Still hopping there is a solution, maybe I can fix it somehow. By the time I get home the waranty is gone. Thanks.
open it up, and attach the ribbon cable back in, just take your time if you need the htc touch hd service manual, i have it. if you wish to use it let me know i will post it here.
That is going to be a big help because I never open up a phone, I watch couple of times some videos on you tube but that’s all about. Anyway I have to open it because I flash it with 3 different roms and still the screen is black. Even when flashing does not showing anything on the screen. I remember for my old blackjack I had a app called My Mobile to see the screen on your desktop I install that I so the splash screen , the align the screen but I couldn’t go more taping the screen of the phone by looking to the desktop.
Thank you for your help and I waiting for the service manual.
Thanks’ one more time.
You can get the service manual here: http://htcdriver.com/index.php?page=htc-blackstone-touch-hd-service-manual
Start downloading. Thank you

Thank you,
First I have to find a place where I can buy the tools, probably in couple of days I let you know about the evolution of the HTC operation.
You dont have the possibility to contact youre retailer and require a copy of the receipt?
Since the phone got an IMEI number, you could probably just send them the phone and they'll see that you still have warranty on it.
I'd call them before sending the phone, also.. don't forget to restore the spl etc..

Isthere away to power up nexus through adb?

My power button broke and can't get it to power up. So I can put it back to stock and send it in for warranty, I thought since it don't power up they wouldn't know. thank you
That's impossible - if the phone is powered off, adb/fastboot cannot detect it.

Plus you can't re-lock the bootloader so they are going to know either way that it is not stock. Apparently, they are still covering hardware warranties even if the phone is rooted. Good luck.
PS- Wrong section. This should go in Q & A.
I read something about pulling the battery while charging. Try that.
putting in stock won't help either.. Your bootlader is forever unlocked once it's done.

- power off your phone
- plug the charger (led is orange)
- pull the battery and put it back really quick BEFORE the led starts to blink orange and green

Very interesting!
Got to try that... interesting.
yea I figured out that trick by mistake...I was about to suggest it.
MOD EDIT - Moved to Q&A
You can also plug the phone into usb and it usually automatically boots once it's fully charged.

+1 to this - unlocking the bootloader only voids software warranty, so hardware failure should still be covered.
Mine is at HTC right now for the power button and I left Froyo on it when I sent it in. I sent it yesterday and they said 5 days from the time I gave it to FedEx, so I think it will be back Saturday or Monday. I will post back if theres any trouble with the warranty.

Not true. There is no separation in the warranty since unlocking could affect the hardware if, for example, you loaded a dodgy kernel that overclocked the cpu too far and burnt it out.
You might very well find that if it's something like a power button, they will still do it under warranty since there is no way unlocking could have caused that, BUT they are within their rights to charge you for the work if they are feeling particularly nasty
Anecdotal evidence here seems to suggest that they do cover this kinda thing under warranty but it's always best to know where you stand, legally.
Great trick!
I were also tried finding this secret boot method when I did this:
- Pulled the battery while the phone was ON, an put in back in right away
- Plugged in the charger (no more than 2 seconds later)
The phone gave me a burst of 7-8 vibrations, but did not boot. Does anyone know what it is trying to tell me?
(stop pulling my battery, you jerk?)

Update already!
They said it would take 5 days from the time I dropped it off at FedEx to the time I got it back but I dropped it off at FedEx about 1pm monday and it's going to be delivered back to me tomorrow. Nice.
They didn't say it was fixed, but they said they would call if they had any problems, questions or it was going to cost my any money to fix it and all I got was a "thanks for using HTC, please fill out this survey" email and a shipping confirmation from FedEx, so I assume it's good as new and there was no warranty problem.
EDIT: Got it back today only to find that instead of fixing the button, they replaced it with an unrooted phone running 2.1.
I have a moto cliq and if I remember correctly if you hold the camera button down and plug it into usb power while holding camera button it turns on. Maybe nexus has a trick that is similar.
does the "put the battery before the light turns orange to green" work if my battery is full??
the thing is the power button failed when my phone was being charged....
or do i have to wait for the battery to decrease and try the method then?
It doesn't matter. Usually, you can just put the battery in while the phone is plugged in and it will turn on. If it doesn't work right away, keep trying. You should get it in a few tries.

Nexus One Power Button Issue

I have read many threads about the issues that the Nexus One has with the power button. I feel that my situation is a little different, so I wanted some opinions on this. My power button is completely unresponsive. I can't use it to turn the phone on, wake or lock my screen when the phone is on, etc. My phone has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted. I am currently using the track ball to wake my phone, so I'm not having any real issues with day to day operations of my phone. I was completely convinced this was a hardware issue (and still am), but I wanted to be 100% sure it was a hardware issue before contacting HTC. I downloaded Quick Boot from the android market which allows you to reboot your phone, boot your phone into your Bootloader, and boot your phone into Recovery. I decided to boot my phone into Bootloader mode to see if the power button would work there. The power button didn't work in the Bootloader, but neither did the volume button (prior to this test, I had no issues with the volume rocker at all). I pulled the battery and let the phone boot up to check and make sure the volume button was still working when the phone was running. Once the phone was booted up, I had no issues with the volume controls. My question is why would the volume rocker not work in the Bootloader? Also, could the issue that prevents the volume rocker from working in the Bootloader be preventing the power switch from working while the phone is booted up? If there is a chance that it's a software issue, how would I test/correct the issue? Thanks your help.
Most people I have seen complain about that problem, send the phone back for a free repair because it's a hardware problem.
The best way to test it is to flash a stock rom.
Thank you, I will try reflashing the FRF91 stock firmware and see what happens. Thanks.
Definatly sounds like the power button is broken. I had one like that. Send it back for a repair/replacement.
I've checked my immediate suspicion, and it turned out to be correct - so I'm posting the result:
Your power button is actually stuck in "ON" position (pressed).
Anyone can test it, press the power button to wake up the screen, keep it pressed, every operation is allowed in the system and volume buttons work. But when you reboot and try the same in bootloader, having power button ON disables the rest of the buttons.
My screen doesn't wake when I press the power button. Any other ways to check if it's stuck in the "ON" position?
It's 100% determined by your description. The only other check would be running any kind of SW that shows the current key states, and I'm not aware of any such SW.
I've posted the checking procedure for people with working power buttons, so they can verify the findings.
Any way to fix the issue?
If you're technically inclined and can't use warranty, I suppose that getting to the power button and repairing/replacing it wouldn't be very difficult. But no other way I can think of.
has anyone tried to repair this?

A DIY can not be too difficult and you may be best to search YouTube. It can not be too terribly difficult as long as you can open it up and remove any connecting ribbons (I've had to replace my girlfriends iPhone digitizer due to phone falling out of back pocket onto concrete from three+ feet up). As long as you can open it, you're fine. Just going to need to re-seat the button. Good luck!
Greetings,
I had the same power button issue. I was able to wake my phone using the usb cable whenever the screen timed out but otherwise the phone worked 100% of the time in all ways. I got an RMA and label and shot the phone to them in an anti-static wrap with 4 inches of bubble wrap on all sides and foam padding on top of that. The phone was in perfect condition. Well to cut to the chase. I got a quote of 196.00 because they said there was water damage!? I treated that phone better than I treat my own body! There was no water damage when I sent it in. So one of their folks send me images of a phone that has a broken screen, water damage in the base usb port and no inscription. Interestingly all of the angles avoided showing the ein or s/n. My phone has a laser etched inscription with my name and a couple of bible verses. So what am I supposed to do here? Pay another 196 for an 800 dollar phone that had nothing wrong but a power switch? I am a T-Mobile customer and an Android developer in good standing. What the heck!? Can anyone give me a suggestion on how to get this squared away? My only other option is to send them $28 to get the phone back with the same power button issue. It's even under warranty until Jan 28th.

why dont you contact htc of a nearby country and send them the phone? i know it is being done. of course you will have to arrange for the transport but it's still worth a shot imo

Hi all,
I woke up this morning and my note's screen hasn't been working. I didn't drop it or spill anything on it, it just doesn't turn on. I know the phone is on because i can hear and see the capacitive buttons light up when i touch them. Does this mean i need to replace the Super AMOLED/digitizer unit?
The only thing i can see is the white Samsung logo (very faintly at that) when its booting up.
I found a site that sells replacement units but i don't want to buy it unless i have to.
I need some advice.

Hey thanks for the reply. But i my phone is not even rooted. it was working fine last night.. the only thing i did different was i didn't charge it over night. So i thought at first it was a battery issue. I'm so sad... lol
sounds like the backlight is burnt out... unfortunately this is not something that can be replaced itself... the digitizer/lcd will need replaced. now is the fun part... either find the country your note is made for and mail it to the warranty dept, or have it fixed by a reputable repair shop out of warranty...
No need to have root, to go to stock recovery
Just switch off device, keep holding vol up + Home + Power
when light turns, release power button, but keep holding other two.
If you able to enter in recovery, N can read on screen, means screen is intact.
wipe cache, wipe data
N still error remains, flash Stock ROM

XT1095 suddenly switched off and wont boot

I have a problem with my Moto X 2014 - XT1095. Phone was fully charged and in the morning suddenly went off and wont come back on after that. I have been over 24 hours now without a phone.
I have tried to force restart and done external factory reset as mentioned here: https://motorola-global-portal.cust...prod_answer_detail/a_id/101072/p/30,6720,9197 and the same problem is still there.
When I press and hold the volume down button and the power button at the same time while plugged, a green light blinks briefly in the middle of the top speaker grill and nothing more happens.
This phone is about 6 months old. Can anyone help me solve this problem and get the phone back?! :crying:
It sounds like your battery died and might need replacing. Does it attempt to charge?

Please give us some details. Which rom did you use? It was a custom rom or the stock one? Did you have an unlocked bootloader? Did you have installed a custom recovery or not?

I was having stock ROM, never rooted and no unlocked bootloader. This is a vanilla device and totally untouched.
Using moto's charger, charge your phone for about 2 hours. After this time and while your phone charging, press and hold power button for about 3 minutes and see if your problem solved by this way.

Maybe i'll have to do this again but unfortunately that hasn't helped earlier when I was advised to do this by Moto's support rep
I have tried that again @Jim_C30 several times and the phone is still dead. Any hope for this phone anymore?
Would have been nice if the computer recognise the phone and at least can try and flash a ROM to it
Without charger hold the Volume Down and the power button together for at least two minutes. Is there any difference?
thanks @Jim_C30 for your assistance. Unfortunately no difference ?
Is your phone under warranty? I read that is only 6 months. Why don't you visit a Motorola Service Center?
well yes that's where I've got problems... bought the phone in the US and I'm now in the EU so warranty only works in the US. Sending it to the US is impossible because of lithium battery inside the phone ?
I am more than sure that the warranty is global. Make a question at motorola but i think that i am right. The warranty is global not only at the place you bought the phone. They could find anything by your imei.
Do it, don't be scared!
Just make a question...
thanks I've asked already Motorola before I came here for assistance. They said it is having only US warranty. Motorola's warranty isn't global anymore unfortunately. I've to send the phone from here to the US for repairs - this is just terrible from Motorola.
exactly the same problem here and at the same moment, yesterday morning
I have the same problem here. Do you find any solution ?
It is stock ROM, never rooted and no unlocked bootloader.

Solved for me :laugh:: I disconected the battery for about 10 days. Then I conected it again and with the solution " press and hold the volume down button and the power button" but for about 3 minutes, and MAGIC
I've tried this like 5 o 6 times during 2 weeks but at first I only saw the green led on at the top of the screen and a vibration but finally it tuned on yesterday!
This problem was produced after two hard resets due to the hard battery draining cell stanby
