I've been noticing that my woven white back has been yellowing a bit, but didn't realize how bad it was until I found someone else with the same back and compared the colors. Has anyone else noticed this problem and found a solution?
Photo attached (sitting on white paper for color comparison).
That's pretty noticeable, did you try wiping it down with a wet cloth? it should help somewhat
Several times, with no change. I also tried a little hydrogen peroxide to no effect. I might try it again with a spray bottle and let it sit longer, and I might try bleach if that also has no effect (although that'd be a bit of a last resort).

I would just ask for a replacement device. That looks really bad.

if nothing works for you, you could just buy a new back cover off ebay. its around $30

Are you a mechanic? That color had to some from somwhere and to me looks like motor oil stains.
I have a motomaker phone which (i believe) is a different material. It picks up grease and oils easily, but a quick wipe down with a paper towel and a small amount of window cleaner gets it looking like new.
Ammonia isn't even that great for cleaning greases. 409 would probably work better, but I'd definitely test it out on a small part first to make sure it doesn't hurt the finish.

At first glance, it looks like the way some "white" plastics discolored after a while under florescent lights. (Think old HP printers, Compaq PC keyboards, and other stuff).
Looking closer, it could just be dirt. Or it could be a combo of both.
I got my Dev Edition for Verizon X in November. I put an Xtremeguard skin (clear) on the back of mine not long after I got my X to make it more "grippy", and I often times use a shell/holster type case.
I haven't noticed any discoloration on mine.

This looks just like they showed on reviews. Their white phones more times than not turn yellow or get blue stains on them from their jeans. Same things happens to clear cases I have gotten. They always turn yellow. This is one reason I wont get a white phone.
Florescent lights. For sure

For anyone else who's having this problem (I also had one of the common cracks by the volume buttons), I went on their chat support and mentioned both problems and they're sending me a new phone.
Now that is customer service.. Almost makes me want to order the x+1 off of the site instead of finding other channels.

I got a Nook Color recently. I've noticed its sides were kinda flimsy. Is this normal? I understand this isnt meant to be built like a tank but mine is kinda loose. Also when even applying a little amount of pressure I see the screen get affected (pressure on screen itself.)
Return? Or is it something common?
I've read a few posts about a creakey bezel. Luckily mine was not. The only imperfection I have is the black plastic that surrounds the n key is not flush with the screen on the right side but flush on the left.
Even more discouraging were the stories about dead / stuck pixels. Since I only had the before mentioned issue, I'm keeping mine.
So, although I believe B&N will take the unit back and exchange, if it doesn;t bother you that much and all else is well, I'd say keep it and enjoy it.
Alright thanks.
Mines the same way. Not really a total deal breaker for me, but its really annoying

I apparently got pretty luck getting one with no imperfections to my knowledge...
the front of my brand new nook comes almost completely off and snaps right back on
.Same here, picked up the black silicone case and it covers the sides and makes it feel like one piece constructio(no help on the screen issue around the n),but makes it feel sturdy. And keeps it simple.Bought the official B&N for $20,I know they are five bucks on line but in my experience after market seldom fits like the "real deal" and after slapping it on I didn't want to take it off

Mine creaks in the upper left corner. The back is somewhat lose in that area too. I haven't noticed any pressure on the screen though.
Hey all, I dropped my black one against some metal and the back got scratched to the point where you can see the aluminum underneath. Anybody have any experience with this and how to possibly hide it so it's not as obvious? I was thinking a black marker might cover it up but I don't want to get the wrong tint of black and make it look even worse.

I've seen recommendations for black markers. I'm surprised you can actually see the silver aluminum. Thought they had some kind of multi layer black thing going on. Hmm.
Do try the black marker on a VERY small area. wait for it to dry and see whether it works well.
Otherwise if you're still within 30 days of ur phone's purchase. Find even the most minor of defects and bring it in to a store. Maybe they'll accept an exchange.. :S That's all I can recommend :'(
Wait to get other replies first though! Maybe someone else has better experiences (I'm here with a silver One)
I have the black One and tried using a black permanent marker to cover a mark at the top edge. I did not really care about colour differences since my scratched is very small, but my makeup did stay even I waited until it was dried to handle the phone.
I have heard people saying a marker bought from halfords, that's a car shop by the way if you are not in UK. The pen is used to hide car imperfection and can stand rain, dust, and etc, so it must be much tougher to remove.
If you are not sure about colour, yes, I would suggest try a small area first, but if you do have a long scratch it would be difficult to find the perfect colour.
Keep up updated if you find a good pen, so I will stock one as well.

Sounds painful
Finally worked up the courage to buy some paint and go ahead with the paint job. Thought I'd give you guys an update. I bought some Tamiya XF-1 paint, it's supposed to be matte black ink for plastic models. So after the drop my phone looked like this.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1308152/phone paint job/IMG_20130531_210230.jpg
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1308152/phone paint job/IMG_20130531_210315.jpg
I used a toothpick to pick up a drop of the paint and blob it on each scratch. Then I used a moist kitchen toilet to scrub away the paint that didn't get into the scratches. End result is this.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the result. You can still see the silver surface pop up at some angles and I'll probably do another few passes of the paint and scrubbing to try and get it perfect.
I know there are videos on how to do it and it is relatively simple. My question is this, I was thinking about getting the white version of the N6 whenever stock becomes available, but I want to get the white version and then replace it with a black cover. Is this doable or has anyone done it/ have pics? I really do not like the midnight blue and black,
ifixit states that the rear cover is held on by some mild adhesive, but comes off relatively easy.
I was actually thinking about doing the same thing, but after having my white N6 for almost two weeks now, I'm actually really digging the white. I'm gonna keep it how it is.

I wouldn't mind it so much if the front wasn't black. I think that is what would throw me off, so i suppose I could just buy a black case, but sometimes later in my phone's life when I don't care I don't use a case as often, lol.
Does it state what the adhesive is? Is it glue or...? I saw a video on it, but I thought it was snapped in place. That just means time to break out the double sided tape, which I have a ton of when I replaced my N2 screen, twice, ha.
Heya.
I've had my nexus 6 for a week, totally loving it. But I recently noticed a mark, or stain on the back cover. I tried cleaning it away with some alcohol but it didn't fade. From the position of the mark I've figured out it's the jeans! I'll be washing those. However I don't know how to remove the stain, I heard chloride solutions might do the trick, but I'm afraid that'll bleach the cover. Fyi, I have the midnight blue version.
Does anyone have any advice? :s
I cannot see how jeans colour could run enough to stain a phone yet be persistent enough to withstand alcohol :/

Well now, I assure you it's happended :s, sadly. The stain isn't too noticedable though thanks to the already blue color of my cover, but the stain is darker. When most noticable is when holding the phone in an angle so the light reflects on it.

What I meant was perhaps the stain is from something else.

Aha, Well I don't know if it's a jeans stain, but from the evidence, that's my conclusion. The phone is abit big for my pocket, so a bit of it sticks out. The stain looks like a line, which fits perfect to the edge of my pocket.
Hmm. That could even be a "polish" where its rubbed it and buffed it up a bit.

Friction ain't science-fiction
So?, any ideas or clues on what could remove it? or is it suck forever?
If it's rubbed away from friction/rubbing, you might be stuck with it. If you're really worried about it, I believe replacement backs are cheap on eBay. However, for now, you can probably invest in a Slickwraps or dbrand skin and hope that the vinyl can withstand the the issue causing the markings on your phone.
Stop wasting your time, here you go. The are many more sellers that sell this back cover, they are all OEM.

That's what I'm headed for.
Today I was changing cases today and noticed the M dimple on the back of my phone was dirty, fine. I tried cleaning it a few times once with a damp paper towel and nothing happened, still looked dirty. As I looked closer, the "Dirt" was actually the silver metal tarnishing or fading away. Has anyone else noticed this at all? i tried getting some pictures, sorry for the bad quality, Nexus 7's don't have the best cameras...
I never used any cleaning solutions or anything like that either...
I don't think Motorola will do anything about it, but I just wanted to see if there were any others
So a month later and the fading has become worse. I have a feeling that it might be the battery heating up and discoloring the logo? really no other reason why it is happening. Also, Motorola didn't seem to care or want to help me. Very unlike them, they have always helped me to the fullest extent in the past (Last 2 pictures are most recent)

How long have you had yours?
I have had mine for 6 months and the M looks fine on mine. I don't use a case on my phone if that makes a difference.

Mine still looks fine too. FWIW, I think the dimple is plastic, not metal.

I have had it since December 14th. I use a case, but its just a bumper... I am going to contact Motorola to see if there is anything they can do.
It almost looks like its Brass under the silver or even a copper color
