Hey Guys,
I love my HTC 8x but there are some Nokia and Samsung apps that I would very much like to try out. When I was rocking vanilla WP8 I could use the fiddler proxy trick to get pretty much whatever I needed. I updated to WP8.1 through the developer preview a few weeks ago and now I cant get the fiddler trick to work. I read on WPCentral that 8.1 closes the loophole that allowed this.
Is there another way to get this working on 8.1?
Thanks,
Sheik

OK folks, I have no access to Windows Vista and no intention of using it until I have a registered copy
Nevertheless, I stumbled upon this link, and decided to share it here because some folks here will certainly find the information valuable:

NOTE: I have NOT tested this procedure and don't know if it works. If someone tests it, please reply in this thread with your experience.
hm.. seems that I'll give it a try..
PS: everybody can have *LEGITIMATE* key from microsoft, just for beta testing purposes.

Hey I have both vista RC1's (x86 and x64) both from M$, and the sx66 picks up on both, I dig it shows a lot more info about your device and folders.
Works just fine, haven't tried an upgrade through it, but no reason for that XP pro works just fine no? hehe
I recently switched to a Mac and was wondering if anyone knew the alternative to Microsoft ActiveSync on Mac OS X. I did a brief search and came up with information about Microsoft Entourage [which I do have on my Mac] and was just wondering if anyone has experience with this? If I plug my Tilt right into my Mac, will Entourage pick it up or what?
Thanks in advance, Walt.
For Mac OS X, you need a (non-free) software called Missing Sync.
Or you can use Parallels to run Windows XP and ActiveSync from within Mac OS.

I have an iMac running Leopard and I run Missing Sync. Works great for me. Syncs Address Book, iCal , iPhoto , Tasks, Phone Log, even iTunes (non DRM ) music.
I also have my Tilt sync'd to the Windows XP side of my Mac because the one thing you cannot do through Missing Sync is flash new roms or radios. That can only be done through Windows. But I use Bootcamp , I used to use Parallels but their support for their product is non existent.
I needed help with a setting and emailed them and Nova Development no less than 15 times, never even an acknowledgement. Bootcamp is free runs smoother and has better graphics compatibility.
You will need a Windows machine for updates.
syncmate
syncmate is free and works great for me. Im running leopard on a powerbook.

On my MacBook Pro, Missing Sync.
One note on uploading ROM's. I was able at one time to do it using Parallels but recently one of Dutty's ROMs locked my Tilt in the Tri color screen. It wasn't the ROM, something had change either in a new version of Parallels or OSX. Moving over to an old Toshiba fixed the phone. I've since tested it again and it still fails on Parallels. Just a word to the wise.

Same thing happened with me under parallels. I can still flash radio firmware and splashes using Parallels, but when flashing the entire rom, its like the connection gets interrupted or timed out. I was previously able to do it before so Im positive its either a parallels or OSX issue when it updated.
Dual boot and use WinDoZe to handle the rom flashing, but honestly Missing sync works great for the contacts / address book info / ect.
=D
I tried to reply to your post maybe 3 different times last night through opera on my device but failed...
anyway i'm on the same boat. Have misssing sync but dont use it much.. my main mode of connectivity is on windows running through vmware's fusion... no problems what so ever with flashing roms.. i used to use parallel's but tried out fusion and liked it a lot better! highly recommend it.

I tried quickly to get my Wizard syncing with a VirtualBox VM with no success. Does someone use VirtualBox to connect to a WM device?
Since my old touch pro phone only can be controlled with the keyboard i was wondering if i could make a small webserver with it.
If possible i would also use the camera on the phone as a security cam. wich can be viewed from the webserver.
I know it works on linux but i don`t know if linux wil run in that way on the phone
By Linux on the phone I assume you're referring to Android. Last I checked there were no camera drivers for Android on the Touch Pro.
However, a quick Google and I've found http://www.ateksoft.com/ for WinMo. I have no idea how good it is as I've never used it myself and it's not a free product, but it might be something to check out.
If you do try it out post back and let us know what it's like.
you mean it works with linux?

ubuntu (rhobuntu) for your touch pro
now have fun with it and tell us, if it works

i've used rhobuntu before
its great and definitely works
webserver should work too, but donno if it will work well given the speed of the device...
I use FtpCE. It's a very cool and very simple ftp client. Just search for it, there's a thread at xda. You can try VIO for the security camera.
server
This is good idea
there is a small webserver with a subset of php too for windows mobile.
http://mobileleap.net/hph/
it is just a little bit old.
Hey guys,
I'm going to be demo'ing a windows 8 Mobile Device's integration with Live and our company apps. I was watching MMS 2013 videos and they showed a Windows 8 Mobile screen on their Windows 8 desktop during their demos.
Any ideas how I can do this? Using a Lumia 920.
Thanks
You can't. Developer devices include additional Drivers and Software to make this possible. Also the Software running on the Desktop for this is not released by Microsoft. There are some hacked ROMs for old WP7 devices but those won't help you with your use case.

Yes.
You have two possibility:
- Install Windows Phone 8.1 via the Preview for Developers (PFD) program.
- Wait for the official deployment.
I do not give you more information on the PFD, because the official deploy Windows Phone 8.1 (and Lumia Cyan) for Nokia Lumia 1520 should soon began. Also, Microsoft currently stopped for the moment (for a indefinitely period) deploying Windows Phone 8.1/Lumia Cyan on phones equipped with PFD.

may be Windows RT which is the versiĆ³n of Windows OS for ARM. Instead of that, think about something, since this is not open source is not possible to Port Windows RT, may be is possible using a virtual machine but that is a lot of work and i dont think anyone will do it for free. Just my two cents ?.
Yeah, the hardware is absolutely not "good enough" for normal Windows 8.1, because that only runs on x86 or x64 CPUs, not on ARM. Windows RT 8.1 is a locked-down version of Windows 8.1 which does run on ARM, but it's not "installable" in the usual sense so you'd need to hack it on there, and its performance on the 1520 would be OK but not tremendous.
The Lumia 2520 tablet is an example of an RT device.
No any way.. Can't do it. Lack of hardware requirements.
Thanks ALL
