My Nexus One Fell from a height of approx 1.5 meters.
> Now the charging LED is not glowing.
> When i turn on the Camera, the screen completely goes BLACK for about 1 min and then say NOT RESPONDING
> When i dial/call some number i can hear the voice , but the screen goes blank and i cannot hang up the call.
I wanted to Re-Install my OS, but i am not able to enter the Recovery.
I am using 4EXT Touch, the screen stays at the count of 0 and keeps looping there.
I even updated the newest Recovery using the 4EXT recovery APP. but No use.
These are the problems i so far found.
The mobile fell just a few mins back and i am very concerned :crying:
Please help
Seems like all the TOP portion things are not working.
The Proximity sensor is acting ODD.
Some times it does not Turn off the screen. SOme times it does not turn on the Screen.
Please reply.
How to Flash the ROM without entering the custom Recovery ?
I disassembled the mobile and checked if there are any loose connectors but didnt find any.
Please help me
"Fell from 1.5mts height"
AND IT WORKS?!?!?! No broken screen!?? Miracle!!
Best chance is to get a cracked screen/digitizer one on eBay, should cost around $20 or so, and replace the motherboard + camera.

The mobile was having the Silicon Cover so i think it absorbed some force, but some internal parts might have been effected
I dont have any problem with the TOUCH. It works well.
I found no loose connections in the connectors.
Non working things are :
1. Ear phone socket - Does not detect the headset
2. Camera - shows blank screen for a few secs and force closes
3. Proximity Sensor
4. Charging LED
so far i found these issues.
I cant enter the Custom Recovery (4EXT) too.
Please help me.

Sounds like you've damaged quite a bit of it. It may not be the motherboard that's the only problem, and could mean also replacing screen, etc. Unless you're up to that it could be time to let the Nexus One go..

As of now it started to Switch ON. So it is better than not having it at all.
All the above noted issues are still not working

I'm sure some items aren't absolutely necessary such as the charging led, but the earpiece and the proximity sensor could be more the problem. At least it boots - better that than nothing at all

Take a look on eBay - there are some ear pieces available (at least in the UK) and proximity sensors. Then if you follow a video which you will likely find you can manually replace these parts to see if they are the problem
Had the same problem; it can be the ribbon cable which is either loose, or completely disconnected. The bad news is that you'll have to disassemble pretty much the whole phone. We've actually damaged one the of the cables once while trying to do this, so if you try it, be very careful! There is a page online somewhere that tells you which cable it is exactly, just search the symptoms:
1. Camera doesn't work
2. Charger LED doesn't work
3. Proximity sensor always shows "near", as a result -the screen remains black after making a call
UPDATE:
Found the link with the picture of which cable it is:
code.go ogle.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15291
It's a long page, so just scroll down
My Nexus one also has the same issues!
I know that it is coz of the flex cable. the other thing that doesn't work is the camera flash (when you try to use it as a flash light)
luckiely for me the ear phone does work! i am able to use the phone (except for the camera and flash light) for pretty much everything
as i always make/answer the calls using the ear phones, i dont have to worry about the proximity sensor not responding during the calls.
My suggestion would be to try and see if your ear phone is detected or not (may be play a song) and then use it to make some calls.

Unfortunately its not working. I thought i can atleast use for media listening/watching but its not detecting the earphone
there are some dedicated ROMs for usage as Media Players so i thought of it, but no use.
Only possibility will be to use the Bluetooth Headset. (I have Plantronics Backbeat 903+ but my ears pain a lot , doesnt fit will )
If some one can confirm that it is related to the FLEX cable then i can dare to buy it

I had same issues as you.
Basically flex cable is loose and it needs to be attached properly. I have gone to service center and they dis-assembled and corrected it.
Proximity sensor ->camera not working. I can confirm the problem (happen twice to my n1)
@OP: I saw your post regarding NexusOne having booting up on Safe Mode: due to getting wet in rain.
How to resolve it. I am facing safe mode boot up issue. ?

RE: Safe Mode...
I've had this before, all I did was to take my N1 completely apart, until the point where I couldn't see anything else to remove lol!
I then left it to air for the next 48 hours, reassembled and it works!
BUT !
I warn you, if you do this, you MUST make a note of where every piece on your phone goes or you'll regret it at the end!

Only visit in the service. It is very hard to repair problem on the mainboard - very popular in LG P970. Most services are not able to repair it - later you could have problem with power button.
So i should buy a new phone i guess..
You can insert some paper inside, and all should be ok for a long time
On this photo, its "Złącze od włącznika zasilania" - http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/850/opis1600x1200.jpg/
You also have the option of replacing the parts... here's the first result from Google http://www.parts4repair.com/lg-optimus-black-p970/
thanks matbla91, i fixed my optimus )
Which part i need to change? Maybe charging Connector Flex Cable?
My phone ever since I got it has not turned off the screen when in call. my cheek keeps pressing against the screen and presses thing while in call.
What allows the screen to know when to turn off? eg.sensing cheek on screen or the light sensor being covered up or the way the phone is held.
Is there a setting I should look into?
I have the phone as: rooted, s-on, faux kernel, ruu rom, twrp recovery.
Thanks
Also when I put the phone face down to activate the speaker, the speaker does not turn on.
I went to this site: htt.....p://androidforums.com/htc-vivid/606680-screen-shuts-off-during-phone-call.ht....ml
and they said that it was some corruption with the phone. I hope that not the case and that there is a fix.
If you can't solve this problem try to go "Phone" app then press "menu" then "settings" then find screen off when phone or type of,and put a check! Or if this can't to help you, take wet wipes and clean the part where the sensor is located! NOTE: If you have screen protector take away your protector and clean there then call and try without screen protector!

It didnt work. actually the feature where i flip the phone upsidedown to activate speaker phone during a call doesnt work either. I think sense is messed up. It used to work though. I am stock with faux's kernel at the moment.

The sensor is located at the upper left side of the screen and detects changes in light, I'd recommend u RUU, try to see if the sensor works and the flip for speaker and then root again cuz it could be an unidentified bug of that kernel with that specific stock rom.

I also tried using the app to recalibrate the snesor but it doesnt work, gives me some polling error. (http://allmobilsoft.com/android/a_system/2177-dhd_proximity_sensor_recalibrator.html). I also got a app from the play store to recognize my sensor, but my sensor is unresponsive at 9cm. im not sure if the app works or not on htc raiders. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDEsImNvbS50aWdlcm1vbnN0ZXIucHJveGZpbmRlciJd). maybe my sensor is busted. I know if the sensor starts working then the screen will turn off during call and the auto speakers should work. so I managed to nail down the problem maybe.

Ahg my friend then it sounds like your sensor is messed up, since you flashed the ruu maybe, if you have warranty they'll give you another vivid cuz it's a hardware error from what I understand. And yes that app is compatible with the vivid. Also they don't check the bootloader when its a hardware error so if they ask you if you rooted your phone, say no, but make sure you've relocked and flashed the ruu. Normally if it's your firs incident like this, they replace your phone for free. Good luck
sigh

Actually i think htc directly can help you with that, I dont know about rogers, but when I had my evo 3d I had problems with signal and they told me it was hardware malfunction and told me and told me to call htc and they did help me with the issue. it was two years ago though but you should give it a try.
Actually... its a proximity sensor that turns the screen off... it sucks... i don't know how to word it... its boolean... so its either on... or off... no in between... I personally tried all the build.prop tweaks trying to get it working faster... no dice...

Hi all. Like the title says. My headphone jack won't work properly. If I plug in headphones the phone doesn't recognize them and media sound still comes from the speakers. But, if I power off and plug in the headphones and power on, the phone recognizes them and they work. If I unplug the headphones after that, then sound won't come through the speakers. Any help is appreciated.

1. Have you tried another headset?
2. Have you tried to move the headphone connector around?
3. Have you tried blowing in the headphone jack?
If you've tried all of these (possible) solutions, and if the problem persists, go to Sprint and tell them the problem.
Tried all three of those, still doesn't work. Flashed stock rooted Rom, still no dice. Would the firmware cause a problem like this? Just curious, does anybody know what Sprint would charge for this repair. I've got insurance but the deductible isn't worth it when I can just upgrade my phone in January.

I'd say that it's unlikely that the firmware's causing this. No idea what Sprint would charge for repairing; bought this device used in India.

Ok, first of all do u have problem with mic or earphone? (probably mic) Mic is located on side buttons flex cable so you probably broke it when you move it to the new display. I'm 99% sure that is a problem, not software problem. Side buttons flex is very sensitive and fragile, so please check that first. You can check your mic in xperia test menu: *#*#7378423#*#*, go to service test and microphone. If it doesn't work there than it's a hardware problem (flex).

If you have tried using an alternative microphone (doubt that would be broke as well) that it is probably a problem with another part of the board on the phone.

I have the same problem after the screen replacement.. But I can hear "zzzzzzz" noise with the microphone test on Test menu. But only "zzzzzzz" noise. Cant hear other sounds I made during the recording.
I have the similar issue but in a different way
Device: Sony Xperia Z C6603
I did't replace anything yet. But I have the similar problem. My microphone works for few days and then it stops working. When it stops working the Headphone still works. So I have to depend on Headphone most of the time. I have just tested the service in the above mentioned way of USSD for now its shows no problem but while calling the person in the other end is getting very low noisy volume although I am screaming from this end.
I have installed the Xperia Audio Recorder and tested the microphone there are 2 bars showing the voice level one bar is only going up to 70% and the other one is going full while screaming. My Google Voice Search is also not working without Headphone in this situation. This is a Hardware issue, I think. But the fact which is making me feel that it is a Software issue is that it is automatically getting fixed for few days (2-3 days) after around 10-20 days.
So I want some expert advice at this point so that I don't scramble my phone any extent.
did you change the LCD display or something, I ordered new flat cable for microphone and waitind if this would fix the problem!

I have this problem and I've already replaced the mic because I broke it on removing it. The interesting thing is I went into that service menu and there was something listed as secondary microphone... Yet I'm fairly certain this phone doesn't have two mics and more importantly it works. Is there anyway I can force my phone to use the 'secondary' microphone? I'll try Sony Update Service as soon as I can fix my SuperSU binary not updating so I can use Titanium Backup.

And regarding my post above, it did not fix it with the reflash and it turns out this phone does have a second mic on the back. Is it possible to force my phone to use that mic as the main mic instead though anyway?

Sorry but I bring news you will probably not want to hear, the thing that fixed this for me was buying a new mic. Just be extra careful installing the new one (it's part of the side button flex cable) and don't remove the plastic case in front of the mic. May not be an issue to do so but it's what I did last time and I didn't do it this time when it worked, so to be safe I wouldn't.
May be the receiver bad contact . Try to replace again.

Hey I know it's been awhile but is this mic you're speaking of different then buying a new flex cable? I'm having the same problem as everyone on here.
Same problem being that I bought a replacement flex cable and it's not working also...
If it's a separate component, can you tell me where you got it from?
Thanks!
