Hi everyone,
recently the LED notification light on my RAZR i stopped working. Well it still lights up at boot, but after that, none.
I've tried all I could think of:
- Xposed: enable/disable/uninstall
- Apps: Light flow, GravityBox, Xblast Tools
- Motorola Notification Enable/Disable widget
- ROM: Omar's previews versions, other ROMs, Stock ROMTrying all that, nothing worked.
Somebody tipped me on the parameter for the LED in this folder:
Code:
sys/class/leds
and as a matter of fact, there's nothing in there - it should contain the parameter to control the LED, I guess. This folder isn't include in any full ROM image, and I have no idea how/why it was deleted on my device.
So I'm posting this big HELP sign here, and hope that somebody would send me the content of this folder, or help me with a sollution to this problem.
Without the notification light, it's REALLY frustrating
Please, help...
Thanks a lot!
Yep it should contain all the information about the led. its build up at run time when the phone starts. The kernel, battery lib and android framework should modify and add things to it. In your case it clearly does not. Have u tried a full reflash with rsd lite (latest firmware version). If not i can give u my content (doesn't contain personal data) and hope that can help.
thanks, like i said, i tried returning to stock with rsd lite, tested it, flashed Omar's ROM, tested again, it's still empty.
It'll be great if you could send me these files, i guess they are all general for all devices and shouldn't cause any problem.
great thank in advance!
Update:
Returned to Stock again (this one: CFC_9.8.2I-50_SMI-26_S7_USASMIJBRTEU), installed TWRP, browse to sys/class/leds, there's only charging file in there. Please note that I đi let the phone boot up and etc. so if anything should be created automatically from the system, they should have already been put there.
Longing for your files, Hazou!!!!
Looked today at it again. I should have known that those files cant be extracted and inserted in your device. Those files technically don't exist.
I will try to look at a solution today. i will update this post. But don't expect to much, new terrain here
thank you a lot, for the will to try and help me! I still can't figure out what deleted those files, they don't seem to ever be altered by any app, and it's weird that even Stock image doesn't include them, which mean they should be generated by the system, presumably at boot.
The only thing I find in there is the charging file - but even with this, LED doesn't show up during charge :|
Am I the only one having this problem?!
those parameters should be created at boot by the kernel. After the kernel is boot the ramdisk chances ownership of the files so the system can use them.
Here are the real paths of the led parameters: sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:03.3/i2c-4/4-0067/leds
If u don't have those, there is a possibility that your leds are in someway broken. Maybe the driver is broken lm2755.
thank you for the feedback.i checked the path, here's the content:

no leds, no surprise
do you have any suggestion what i should do now?
also, i just think it might be relevant to mention that, i randomly loose vibration. this means, vibration is lost GLOBALLY - navbar, long press power button, no haptic feedback whatsoever! it even lasts until after reboot (full reboot, where green led shows up, along with short vibrations - test pattern i guess).
this has been happening for some time now. the vibration does come back after some time, but unpredictably, or i haven't been able to find a path to it yet.
the lost of vibration normally happens when actively using the phone - it's never lost when i unlock, if it still worked before that.
at first i thought it's just a bug due to some xposed module, or rom's bug. Only today did i realize that this even goes to the boot up process. maybe, going that far to such a level, it might have something to do with the led problem too.
what do you think about all these, Hazou?
Look at the file modulair as text. See what is in it. It should state the driver. Lm2755. I wil look for a way to reload the driver. Maybe with the reloading it will solf soms thing.

The battery was down for less hour, a problem with illumination, it is always on
Hello,
Issues feedback:
- button light and somekind of screen illumination on while on stand-by,
hence great battery drain (20% in 30 min) - only actuaully used the phone for 10 min
- keys are mapped differently than in Fatsal's Xperoid (for instance, the end key is sfor standby and screenlock, OK button for back)
thanks for keeping the X1 alive...
Thanks for given this Android version.
A few remarks,
- the installation of this android was very easy.
- touchscreen and buttons are not working properly, the next button is in the middle of the top of the screen, while it should be in the right bottom.
In my X1 WiFi don't work it says 'Nie można uruchomić WiFi' (It isn't possible to start WiFi)
Keymap is like that (you can use this img for update your first post if you want )

My turn :
1. Does this rom fix the usb transfer issue? Can u show a pic of usb transfer rate?
2. The Xloud is instead of voodoo sound or voodoo sound doesnt support yet?
That's all i want to know to get back to ICS or not. Thank you very much!
Does this ROM have the BLN (back light notification) feature or something similar?
Oh, so Glitch does not work with this ROM? Guess I'm sticking to KK4
I think its time to save money for a new galaxy...

Issues
Issues I have found so far:
1. This has been reported, I know, but I am also having the error with my signal strength being reported constantly as 0dbm and 97asu.
2. I have had a a couple random shut downs. When it shuts down, I cant get it to power back on again unless I do a battery pull; the buttons are non-responsive. This makes me believe that it is going into a lock, but then wont unlock as opposed to shutting down, but I don't know. All I can see is that the screen blinks off (as if i just hit the power button) and then is totally unresponsive.
3. the MIUI style battery bar doesn't rescale when the the phone is put into landscape mode.

4. This is not so much an issues as it is a question. This is the first ICS rom I have run, so I am not familiar with all the ins-and-outs, but is there a way to get a long-press context menu in the contacts app? There are a lot of contacts I would like to join and having to open the contact, press edit, and then press join makes it take exponentially longer. (Also, would like a black themed contacts... but as another user said in the dev section, I can survive without )
Great ROM! Thanks for your work!
Awesome theme!!
**Probably should have posted this question here first**
I want to combine the theme from Dark Knight with the Slim ICS ROM, creating a hybrid version: Dark Slim...maybe?
Copying over .pngs from the framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk is fairly straightforward. I assume I'll also need to copy over some of the xml files.
Can anyone tell me which file(s) control the background color within Dark Knight, making it black as seen in the comparison below, instead of the stock grey?

Is there any way to put the wifi/bluetooth/GPS/etc. shortcuts into the notification bar?
I'd like to be able to access these from anywhere.

Complete noob to installing roms and so forth but all i want to ask is....My cappy has DLEV Rom 5.0 with GB Bootloaders.... can i load this rom? ....or will i have to go back to stock....
Reason i'm asking, saw some conflicting posts in the main thread and got a bit confused
Baseband: i9000UGKC1
No, you can flash this over your GB ROM, just make sure to flash this ROM twice
when you say flash twice what do you mean? .....Load rom.zip on..... wipe..... flash....wipe again.....reflash? ....
TV Out
I could not find the TV out in the display is this cause it was a port from a different phone or is this something that is not implemented in this version of the firmware. I love Dark Nights, but I use this feature a lot.
Thanks for any reply that may come.

Well, if you haven't loaded anything yet on the phone you can probably just flash it again after you flashed it the first time(saying that you've stayed in the Recovery mode), but if you want to stay on the safe side yes, wipe Cache and System/Factory Reset.
thanks for the responce cOld1.....
I know that the default ICS WiFi icon has arrows (centered inside the main icon), but it seems on at least one ROM - vibranturk's Doc's Master v8 and perhaps earlier revisions - there was some modification made (I don't know if it's a simple configuration edit or what) that produced the arrows on the lower left side of the main icon which makes it far more readable to see when data is flowing on the up(load) or down(load) side of things. Looks like this on Doc's Master v8:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now, I'm still using Doc's ROM but I decided to check out the latest CM9 Nightly (20120407) and it obviously has the pure stock ICS WiFi icon.
My question is simple, really:
How can I figure out how to get the same "look and feel" of the WiFi icon in the Doc's ROM over to the CM9 one, if at all possible. I don't know if it's some custom compile option or not because vibranturk did release a v9 beta ROM but it was only up for a few hours - he's since decided to take a break from his development work on those ROMs and pulled the downloads (but I still have them, of course).
I'm not a ROM "wizard" or anything so I don't quite get what's responsible for the WiFi icon meaning is it a library file, an icon file, etc. If this was Windows Mobile I'd know exactly how to handle it, but it's Android.
Just trying to get that arrows-on-the-side easier-to-read WiFi icon as shown in the pic above instead of the stock WiFi icon where the arrows overlay the primary icon itself.
Could be a simple thing but I spent 30+ minutes searching here and at other locations and I just get tons of no useful info at all. Anything anyone can offer as advice or a suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
I don't think it would be as simple as swapping out a file in the ROM since Doc's v8 is a 4.0.3 based one and the CM9 nightly is 4.0.4 - trying to do this without borking the Captivate, obviously.
Thanks...
SystemUI.apk open with winrar,
navigate to res/drawable-xhdpi and edit the png images 'stat_sys_wifi_in' 'stat_sys_wifi_inout' and 'stat_sys_wifi_out'.
edit images then drop back in winrar to same location, it will ask settings, just overwrite/update files with "storage" compression.
you will need a image editor capbable of editing transparency. there are some web apps like http://pixlr.com/editor/ . move the arrows left and down within the blank area.
there are better more complete guides out there.
they are not .9.png images so no need to decompile /ect. follow simple image themeing instructions.
Awesome, then I'll get started on it here in a bit and see what comes from it. Thanks for the response.
awe screw it here is the images i just modded, as i wanted to try.
you figure out what to do with them. LOL
and just as i went to post this for you i figured .. " coulda just taken them from the rom that already has em'"... duh me. uhg!
have fun!
er now i look at that screenshot again it looks like the wifi bars are higher, i think i am going to have image clipping (touching/overlapping) if i push this right now.
just winrar open the systemUI from the working rom, find the stat_sys_wifiANYTHING.pngs in the hdpi folder and put them in your rom.
I got it, thanks.
I simply extracted the 3 PNG files from Doc's Master v8 and dropped them into the full CM9 ROM archive in the appropriate folder and installed it, simple. The trick was finding out which files needed to be replaced, and you answered that one with your first post. Works great, as expected.
So after a couple days of f***ing around I have got CM9 compiled!
Haven't flashed it yet (fixing fast boot/NVFlash for disaster recovery purposes)
Will update this post as soon as I have, although I HIGHLY doubt it's even going to boot at this point due to the fact that I had to remove A LOT of proprietary crap just to get this to build.
Either way exciting stuff!
Big thanks go out to giveen and DJ_Steve for all the amazing work they have put into this, as well as for releasing their device tree.
Update 1
Well I flashed it and as expected it did not boot. Stayed on the DELL logo the whole time. Damn

Awesome, the last piece of the puzzle will soon (hopefully) be with-in my reach
I'm waiting for some answers from several places I posted. I don't think I am violating any copyright laws, but I need to check first.
Also DerArtem (a Folio 100/Thrive) developer said that we need to manually create the system.img to get it to boot, and I've asked Steve a few times to write me a guide to compiling the AOSP for our device but he never responded so I am assuming he is busy as usual trying to get things in his life in order.
Yeah I saw. Doesn't look like he's got a lot of time on his hands these days :/
Yeah, at least he managed to give me a quick PM on Twitter to let me know it was okay for me to release our work.
hmmm...
Upon further inspection of my builds of cm I am noticing a very large difference in system.img size.
The system.img from ICS-B4 is 344,064 KB
My CM9 build is coming in at 176,188 KB
It's like half the size! wtf? Seems like I've got a longer road ahead of me than I thought
Just for S&G's I flashed the system image from ICS-B4 and kept my boot image flashed, and it actually booted! So at least the boot image is getting created properly lol.
I took a look at the contents of the system that was compiled and it is definitely missing some important, but normally common, files.
To name the first one that prevents boot 'sh'.
Like why isn't that getting put into the system image? You would think that would be installed by default!
HC replaced SH with ASH, SH isnt even included in stock 3.x.
Previously it was a symlink to toolbox (i believe), now it simply points to nothing/isnt there.
Unless you're rooted, the only things that have access to the shell is the system itself, so you could just remove it and have them all point directly to ASH.
There might be an export to define what shell is being used (dunno if it's valid on android), but dropping SH isnt an issue when users arnt normally allowed access.
So what would cause adb to say "/system/bin/sh does not exist"?
Just curious since you seem to know a thing or two about this XP
I cant say, if CM9 really is still using SH, it would include it as CM has it's dependencies already included.
Is busybox and toolbox properly compiled and symlinked in your rom at least?
Busybox includes the basic SH as a symlink (i think)
You could always grab your own SH/ASH/BASH from somewhere and add it in+symlink it and see if it boots to begin with.
snarg, check your PM
Progress...
A logcat after my last build
Had to use the boot.img from ICS-B4 but it's progress
http://pastebin.com/YmVD8pn6
I made a few changes, that might resolve the boot.img issue.
hi,
last night i connect my ds7 to the computer and in the internal memory was a file named 'driver.rar' i deleted the file and disconnect the device.
since i disconnect,there is a green line in the screen.i reboot the device,formate,factory reset..nothing..still a green line
i dont think is a hardware problem
i need your help
Need more info. What ROM are you on? Have you done a factory reset?
yes i did

Step #6 asks to copy Drivers.zip not Drivers.rar, there is a difference. Like TheManii states, a DS7 can't read a "rar" file, only a special app made for that purpose can.
I don't have any "rar" files on my DS7 but do have such files on my PC.
Drivers.zip is a folder that comes with a new DS7 although there a few that claim that it didn't.

Its a coincidence. Trust us.
You can tell if its a bad display if by after a factory reset you still see it or if you install a custom ROM and still see it.
If you aren't going to listen to us, when three people have answered your question, why are you here?:highfive:
