Hi guys
Kindle Fire HD 7, 2012 model
I know this may not be the best forum to ask this question (or even the best site), but I've searched the internet for help, and been to the Cyanogenmod site unsuccessfully.
I moved over to CM11 a week ago and I like it! (thanks to everyone who posted help and advice, tutorials etc on this subject, and to those who posted in response to problems I had)
The one problem I'm having with CM11 is "Internal Error" message I get from the ROM's email app. It only happens when I check my Gmail accounts, and only when I browse the non-system folders (ie ones I created myself). The app is also not synching correctly either so that the folder contents in my accounts are different from that shown in the app.
My other non-Gmail accounts don't have any errors and appear to sync correctly.
Nb, this is NOT the Gmail app I'm talking about, it is the app that comes with CM11. The Gmail app appears to work ok, but obviously only shows Gmail accounts and I don't want to use different apps for different accounts.
I've tried CM11 snapshot 6 & 7 and both are the same. Even tried a couple of nightlies. The only similar problem I saw on the CM site was for CM10, and the OP updated the ROM and it solved the problem.
I've tried K9 and Aqua mail but didn't like the interfaces, and don't see why the ROM app wouldn't work.
Anyone any ideas on what to do? I've obviously tried clearing the cache as well as deleting the accounts and adding again to no avail.
(Ironically, one of the big incentives to move from stock was because of the difficulties I had in syncing the calendar and contacts.... those work perfectly in CM11, almost instant updates, but the email is just as big a problem )
any ideas anyone?

The Gmail app has been having issues, for some, for over a week now. This is probably what's going on. It's a Gmail synching issue not a CM issue.

Thanks for your response LE, but I don't think it is a Gmail issue. I don't see any problems with my desktop that accesses GMail via client software, and there are no problems with the other android apps I've looked at simultaneously with the ROM app. All the other apps correctly access the account without any errors, but I think I have a clue as to where the problem lies.
To allow my desktop SW Mozilla Thunderbird to display the account folders correctly, there is a "IMAP server directory" which is named [Google Mail] it's enclosed in square brackets. Without this entry, all folders, both system and personal are put under a folder called Google Mail, although personal folders don't always show up. Generally, the IMAP communication between GMail and Thunderbird seems a bit dodgy, and I'm not sure where the fault lies.
So, when I look in the app, I see the system folders, no problem, then at the bottom is the [Google Mail] folder where my messages lie. Tapping on that folder brings up the rest of my folders, but also the Internal Error. The app seems to have a problem with that folder. Other apps I've tried behave normally, but instead of displaying the folders simply as a folder list, eg
Folder 1
Folder 2 (and nested inside)
Sub folder 1
Sub folder 2 etc
They display as
[Google Mail]/Folder 1
[Google Mail]/Folder 2
[Google Mail]/Folder 2/Sub folder 1
[Google Mail]/Folder 2/Sub folder 2
[Google Mail]/Folder 3
[Google Mail]/Folder 3/Sub folder 1
[Google Mail]/Folder 3/Sub folder 1/Sub-Sub folder 1
[Google Mail]/Folder 3/Sub folder 1/Sub-Sub folder 2
[Google Mail]/Folder 3/Sub folder 2
etc
A messy display that takes up lot of display space and makes finding a particular folder hard. The folders can't be collapsed, they are displayed as shown, even when for example, Folder 2 is a holding folder for the sub folders inside, and contains no files itself, it is still shown.
Obviously it looks like differences in IMAP implementation between GMail and various clients, but I can't be alone in this. Thunderbird has a reasonable user base and I've looked at 5 or 6 android apps that display the folder paths as above.
I've also just found that for some reason the ROM app won't show pictures inside mails, and they're attached either. I tap on the icon to show the picture but the icon changes without showing the picture. Anyone experience this?

I use Mail on my Tilt to connect to an IMAP4 account (that isn't Gmail!). It works fine for the most part. There is one quite serious problem that I would like to solve. On my PDA, I can see my main "Inbox" folder and its contents, however, when I switch to one of the child folders on the server (say my "Work" folder), the folder appears empty, even after I try doing another send/receive. This is quite serious, as I have a lot of important mail in my various folders that I would like to be able to access. Any solutions?
Hi,
I bought a Belgian Proximus branded Magic last weekend.
Now at work I got exchange support working, but I cannot view any subfolders on the exchange server.
I can see top level folders like Inbox,Sent, etc. But I have some folders which have their own subfolders and go even multiple levels deep. These last folders I cannot view with the mail app.
Small example:
I have these folders on my exchange account:
- Inbox
- Sent
- Work
|--- To-Do
|--- Done
I can view the "Work" folder (which hasn't got any emails directly in it), but I cannot get the "To-Do" and "Done" folders to show up.
A collegue of mine has a G1 running the Cyanogen ROM and he can view subfolders like in the above example just fine...
Does this mean the Cyanogen Exchange app is different from the regular Magic one? If so, any means of getting the subfolders visible on my Magic??
thanks in advance...
Strange. Exchange works fine on my HTC Magic (HTC-Branded).
I have sub folders and everything else.
i have a rogers branded and locked unit that is not rooted or anything like that. i dont use dfferent folders, but i just set one up to see if it would sync accross to my device. i have my device set to sync every 15 min, so i manually refreshed the list a couple of times and the new folder showed up in the folder list (at the bottom). i looked inside it and the email i had moved there in outlook did not show up until i pressed the refresh button again, then it showed up. i am not sure if it will work better if the settings are changed to as items arrive, but i can confirm that folders do show up
I strongly suggest getting Touchdown.
I updated my original post since I just realized the example was not displayed correctly.
So i can view top-level folders without any problems (like the 'work' folder in the above example).
The problem is that I cannot see and folders that are under one of the top-level folders (the 'done' and 'todo' folders in the above example).
I've been trying touchdown for a while and it sure looks and works great. But it's just that I'd rather get the built in app working rather than installing a 3rd party app which will also consume memory and cpu resources...
Hello everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing these problems:
I have my google agenda synced on the SGS, and am using an app called Log2Calendar to dump all calls and textmessages to a dedicaded calendar. This works fine and I can select the calendar in this app. Shows up fine from my desktop.
However, it does not show in my agenda on android. Reason being is that i cannot select it from the different calendars it syncs. There is another one I do not see, got 6 in total, 4 show up.
Been googling, but they are all talking about sportscalendars not being able to sync.
Any ideas? Tried deleting agenda + agenda storage, and a resync. But this did not help.
Pfff, been looking into this for weeks now, hence my thread. But now it works.
Delete agenda storage via settings -> applications -> agenda storage. Quick reboot before it can sync. And it should be fine after a resync. Strange bug though.

Have the sam Problem (with JPC Firmware).
Have tried this way but no success.
Still no tasks that ar created through third party apps ar synced.
This is VERY bad!!!!
Any further Ideas?
Hey there.
Yeah, in my search for an answer to my problem i did find an issue that stated this problem.
In all of android, the calendar "Tasks" is simply not synced. Find the issue in google bugsystem, star it so it'll get a higher priority.
Meanwhile: create a new calendar in gmail (from PC), and use that one with your third party apps. This should sync just fine.

This is, what i have done a few days ago.
I have created an new calender and set Log2calender (i use it to. It is a great App ) to sync with it.
Still the same prob.
All Tasks (Calls, Messages) appear in Device (Jorte, Touchcal; Stock Calendar) but ar not synced with Google
In the Froyo Dev Thread i have read, that Cal Sync with third Party Apps is still Buggy in the current Froyo (JPC) Beta.
Hope Samsung will fix this soon, because i really appreciate Froyo.
Meantime i have flashed JM8 and use this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723103
Superslim ROM Version.
It is amazing fast (Quadrant 2320) and everything works like a Charm.
Also the Sync with all Third Party Apps.
So, Microsoft released the Windows Phone sync companion for OS X a while ago but I'm getting some really weird behaviour on a Lumia 920.
I've granted the app access to my Music folder and I'm trying to sync some stuff from my iTunes library. However, whenever I do, some files will always reported as failed and 'ghost' files appear on the device (if you look at it through Browse Device). These files are duplicates of already existing files but aren't reported with a file size and can't be deleted either. If I select one, hit Delete Selected Items and then sync again they just stay there.
Now every time I hit sync whatever files have a 'ghost' copy get resynced so I end up with another copy of that file and usually also with another ghost of that file. This just keeps on going and going filling up the phone's memory and causing a load of duplicate files in the Music app.
I tried clearing the phone a few times through gphotofs and though that works to clear everything it isn't a particularly sustainable solution.
Is anyone else seeing strange behaviour like this? Does anyone have other software that can actually function as an MTP client to the Lumia on OS X?
Hello,
I have various problems with e-mail accounts in Windows 8.1:
- Outlook does't properly get imap folders, drafts are not saved in proper folder, just stored on phone
- Yahoo it's a mess, the phone is creating additional folders instead of using default folders for sent e-mails, drafts are not saved
- Yahoo and Gmail stuck in "Syncing...", Gmail for three days now. The only solution for this was to reset the phone, but I don't want to start again from scratch. Long pressing the account doesn't show any option, so I can't delete it.
Any suggestions?
The phone using local drafts instead of the IMAP Drafts folder is known and, apparently, by design (I don't know *why*, but in any case it's documented). That, along with the inability to edit original messages in reply/forward, are the things which annoy me most about WP8 email.
The other problems you're having I don't know so much about. Rebooting the phone or flipping it to airplane mode *should*, in theory, stop the attempted sync.
