I just replaced the touchscreen digitizer of my LG - P880 (Optimus 4x HD) as it was broken because of falling down the floor from balcony,I bought a new one from ebay as it was not available at the LG service centers(I digged all the big cities in India including Delhi,Mumbai, and Bangalore) So i decided to purchase it from a 3rd party . I replaced it as it should be, everything was done by a professional, But I don't know why the touch is not behaving as it should.
The touch is working properly in every corner of the screen but when it comes to moving touches , it sort of lags,it jumps between the 1 to 2 mm gaps. It's accuracy is not that good ,I can understand that it can not match the original digitizer but at least should let the touch move around smoothly.
I searched a lot and what i found was that our device uses NVidia's direct touch technology, and maybe the third party manufacturer did not take this thing in account.
Please help me troubleshoot this as I don't know much about hardware.

hi there
as of yesterday i accidentally dropped a jack splitter (like this one.. (click here) onto my pda2 from 1 meter..
at first i thought everything was okay
but then i realized that the touchscreen was not working.. the buttons are working..
though i hesitated that it'd never work again, after taking my imate apart and after i put it all together it worked for 10 mins.. then it stopped working again.. this morning it did the same, worked then stopped..
so my questions are:
1. can it be something other than the touchscreen? there is a small dent on the screen but the image on my today screen is displayed correctly..
2. if i really have to change the screen where would i buy 1?
i found this one but i want to have more options if there is

thanks...

Touchscreens are replaceable but make sure you buy the correct one, as the screen in Alpine is only one of 2 that could possibly have been fitted in Himalayas i.e a touchscreen for an xda2 is not guarenteed to be compatible with the LCD you have.
Depending on LCM, you could look into a repair of the exisiting digitiser, is the screen marked in any way where the item hit it?
Richard
p.s don't bump so quickly - do your research more thoroughly - you're not the first person to suffer this problem...
yes there is a small dent on the screen
i know i searched the forum but maybe i'm searching with wrong terms.. not much came up.
i don't know any other websites than the pdasmart.....

Then you need a new digitiser, the gap between the touchpanel and glass in the digitiser is reduced where the dent is, so the resistance properties of the digitiser have changed at that point i.e it will think you are always touching that spot. You could remove the plastic overlay, heat it gently and try and bend it back / flatten it but I've tried and never managed to do it
Most places only sell the entire LCD / touchscreen assembly, cheapest I can get for an alpine is about $140 USD for the lot, perhaps check ebay for a unit with a broken LCD?

I was tapping away happily on my little used XDA2i and suddenly the touchscreen stopped working. There is no damage to it and I tried to soft and hard reset and nothing works.
Now I am at the opening screen after hard reset and it looks like the touchscreen is kippered.
Any ideas of a cheap mending solution?
Just to clarify - the display works fine it just doesnt respond to touch.
bushako
dude...i think the connectors must have gotten out of place from the motherboard...a simple solution is to go and hand it over 2 da nearest phone repair shop and i doubt it would be cheap so just find a way to open the pda(which is very very very simple and easy) and i have done that a hundred times and the xda2i still works perfectly..one of da reason why i love it soooo much,lol...anyways...the connectors are visible ones you get to open the back panel and see for yourself...
I have just got an XDA 2i. i got it very cheap in a not working state and the problem was as you described. The machine would power up but not accept input from the touch screen. I disassembled it, cleaned it up and rebuilt it and it now works fine. I assumed it was the connector for the touch screen. The job was quite simple but i am fairly technically competent. A replacement screen can be found on Ebay for as little as £14 GBP.
Ok, I have had this to pieces and also dismantled the screen to see what the problem might be, gave everything a wiggle and then rebuilt the machine.
Touchscreen still not working though the LCD still seems fine and so i am assuming that I haven't broken it.
Not sure what to do next as I cant find any XDA 2i touchscreens on fleabay. Anyone had exactly this problem and replaced only the touchscreen (not the LCD too) and could give me some tips. I couldnt see how to replace just the touchscreen ie where it would connect to the mainboard. Also - Stev - when you said you cleaned it - do you mean you actually cleaned the touchscreen part or the machine generally.
Thanks
Touch screen problem with no alignment
Have got 2 Qtek 2020i with defective touchscreens. After hard reset they get to the "align screen" image, and the PDA responds to the touch by moving the cursor between the 5 adjustment points - but alignment seemingly never occurs, as I can continue forever.I guess the touch screen in itself got misaligned - anyone with experience in this ? .I found replacement touch screens from Hong Kong for as little as $6.99/pc, and $2,50 for shipment to Denmark.
I have bought a replacement touchscreen from ebay, however it looks like it needs soldering at the back and the ribbon on the screen is a different layout. Anyone have any idea what to connect and to where?
Does anyone know whether the touch panel from XDA II will be able to fix to XDA IIi ? I am having problem with my XDA IIi(Alpine) it seems the touchscreen is not responsive. I have already tried opening the Alpine check the connectors it seems to be okay so i am suspecting the touch screen is the fault. I have found this website http://mobile.brando.com.hk/TouchScreenO2xdaII.php selling the replacement touchscreen but it stated there XDA II. Will it be a match for Xda IIi? Will it be easy to fix? Anyone with experience please help. Thanks.
I bought one on ebay for £12.98 that said XDA 2i and it looks like the one in your picture, which I dont think is the right one - I reckon that is the XDA 2 one version. I phoned the company I bought it from, in London and they said if I send the whole lot to them they will fit the new screen for £20 more which seems fair enough. That would mean the touchscreen fitted for £32 - a lot less than the £80-100 I've seen elsewhere.
The touch screen of my htc touch diamond is not working properly. It does not react to my touch. For me to get it to work I have to rub my fingers over it then it will be work again as normal. This only lasts for a few minutes after a while it becomes non responsive again. It is like it has to be warmed up to get it to work. This a problem when it comes to sending text messages. (the problem remains when I remove the protective screen).
Anyone has a answer to this?
remember the last program you installed and remove it , maybe it cause this problem
or try hardreset
Tried both methods still not working. I have ran out of ideas. Anyone else expierenced this problem?
Im having the same problem with my Raphael
To really know whether it is a hardware problem or software based problem, I recommend a hard reset and see whether the problem persists...
this is likely to be water damage on the screen. send it off for warranty see if they fix it. they fixed it for mine.
The thing is iv noticed the touch screen isn't thermal reactive like most touch screens. In other words the temprature of your finger is sensed on thermal screens, the HTC you can use anything solid that makes contact. Usefull if you have long nails.
So I'm guessing its probably hardware if it works after a while of 'rubbing' it, But like otacon said I would do a hard reset before jumping to that conclusion.
Same problem
Hi there....i saw that this is an old thread but did you manage to get it to work?
Cause i have a HTC Diamond that i changed both the displays on(LCD and the "point screen") and everything works fine on mine now, even tried to recieve phonecalls and it works excellent so as i said EVERYTHING works like a charm but the touch function.....it doesn´t react in any way while trying to use the touch function and i have tried soft reset, hard reset, new rom, checked all the internal connections around 4-5times and everything is ok but the damn touch function won´t work whatever i do with it.
I haven´t "glued" the 2 screens together, but they are sitting close to eachother so it should work anyways right?
Now from what i have seen on internet is that there are different versions of touch screens available on the market and i ordered the LCD from one company and the touch screen from another.
Could it be so that they aren´t compatible together or am i doing something wrong?
I´m still stuck at "Tap the screen to set up your Windows Mobile-based device" and can´t get any further after trying another rom.
Please help me out if it´s possible.
I have exactly the same issue you're experiencing, I've actual flashed the original rom, thinking that might put every settings in place to make it work, but no joy.
I don't be leave the concept of the weather condition equate to the performance of the device, as read in some of the forums. reason being I've had mine in very hot climate Country for over year whiles working on a project in Africa. In fact that was when I realised the the screen has become unresponsive.
I think this is a hardware issue.
It´s working perfect again
So since my last reply i ordered a new touch digitizer and lcd display and soldered them together carefully(first time i bought a lcd and digitizer from two different companies so they weren´t compatible with eachother and made the touch defective and second time i bought both digitizer and LCD screen from the same company and then it worked) and it has been working perfect since i last wrote my comment so i recomend you check the contacts/connections first on the phone because i had some minor issues with them when i assambled the phone again so i had to #wiggle# the contacts so i made sure they were connected.
We had a company here that sold lcd displays and digitizers out for a total of 30dollars with shipping so i had nothing to loose on it so that´s why i ordered a new set again and that made everything work as a charm since i replaced it.
Now i have searched online about the displays and the digitizers and i have found out that there are atlast three different versions of them so if you order a digitizer and a LCD make sure you atleast order both from the same company so it doesn´t happen the same to you what happened to me the first time.
Cheers and hope i helped you somewhat or else just ask on and i should try to answer.
[Q] Milestone digitizer replaced, but new one has problem with "calibration"
Hi!
I got a two year old Milestone on which the digitizer started to act up a while ago, with random clicks (seems to be referred to as "ghost" clicks) and touches everywhere, pretty unusable. After buying a new digitizer on ebay and replacing the old one, all those problems are now gone!
However, I do still have touch problems. It seems a few percent of the top and the bottom is unreachable. Input is registered, but at the wrong location. The bottom "buttons" (which is via digitizer as well?) works fine however!
A video of it says it all:
ht tp://ww w.youtube.com/watch?v=YNGcpAMPfUQ
(added some spaces to get around spam filter)
To me, this looks like some kind of calibration error... Not sure if that is applicable though.. Cannot find any kind of references to this on either this forum nor anywhere else.
Now, I've tried the following:
* Going back to stock firmware
* Clean CM7 (which is what I used before)
* Wiping all caches & resetting everything
Nothing seems to help. I can not find any calibration tools or anything either..
Any hints?
Thank you!
ermtv must
While waiting for a re-shipped item from the ebay seller (paid extra shipping only), the digitizer magically started to work again!
Not really sure how or why, but after leaving it powered up but idle for almost a week, the upper part of the digitizer was fully functional! The lower part was however still non-functional exactly like the video shows.
For some reason I got the idea that all this was somehow heat related; it had been lying in a relatively warm, closed off room during this period. So, I put the lower, still non-working, half of the digitizer (still powered on) a few centimeters below a regular desk lamp, applying some heat to it. I left it like this for an hour, and when I pulled it out, it was working flawlessly! Has now been working fine for ~2 weeks.
Just thought I'd post this here in case anyone else has the same problem.. There has to be some kind of manufacturing problem with this one, not being glued together properly or something.. At least I got an extra digitizer now as spare, in case this one gives up again
Hi there,
I am having some issues with my Z3C and thinking of doing a repair myself.
A few months ago the first issue started, still present: the bottom bar buttons (back, home, apps) require extra pressure. This was probably my fault as I might have bent it a bit during cleaning, resulting in this damage (not that strong of a bent, but somehow it screwed it).
The second problem started yesterday, after a bit of rain I have now the full second digitizer column from left completely dead (tested with service menu).
So I was wondering, has any of you already gone through the process and can give me some indications? Ideally I would replace only the digitizer, but I hear it's better to buy it bundled with the LCD as making them match tight is always the very complex part of the job?
Please also share links with parts that worked for you, I am thinking of buying the part from US or China (but would like OEM/original).
Thanks
I have found these parts:
http://www.witrigs.com/oem-lcd-with-digitizer-for-sony-xperia-z3-black
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Xperia-compact-Display-Digitizer-Replacement/dp/B0148JVO9E
https://www.replacebase.co.uk/sony-xperia-z3-compact-replacement-lcd-touch-screen-assembly-black/
As I understand OEM does not mean supplied by Sony but rather should have the same parts with same specs..but of course it will not have 100% :cyclops:
I would like to know if somebody has replaced it already and what is their experience; I am not going for digitizer only but digitizer+LCD
I have a similar issue on my Z3C. My entire middle row is non-touch responsive.
Did you manage to repair your phone? Was it worth the hassel?

Here you go, to avoid writing everything again, I've posted this in other thread, still using that screen, and happy with it.
