Hopefully, I'm using the right terms...and I'm wondering if the answer is "you can't..." but I find the stock ROM's modem/radio for my Verizon CDMA Moto X offers the best reception by far. However, I really enjoy some of the original ROMs such as CM11, Mokee and Dirty Unicorns.
So...how do I flash the modem/radio that works the best to the ROM I enjoy the most? Possible?
Thanks in advance!

Normally the radio is completely untouched when you flash a custom rom like CM11 (don't know about the others)....
Unless the rom includes "NON-HLOS.bin" and "fsg.mbn", you ARE using the stock baseband.
I would guess that you are experiencing the "placebo effect" as in just a difference in the number of bars showing up (but no actual difference in signal dbm levels), but could be mistaken.
Anyways, regardless, all you have to do is AFTER you have flashed the custom ROM, use fastboot to flash the modem files from the STOCK SBF:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
(you may have to do OTA again after this).
Let us know how it works for you, and if you notice any change...
Perfect, thanks for the detailed reply!

I know out there is a bunch of baseband to flash through Odin. What about make them flashable?. What for?, for example I flashed Enox and Benz roms that are not for my specific model (L) and my phone boot without a problem, but just get not network signal. So I was guessing that will work If I flash my baseband (lubama1) over the one that came with the rom. Will the rom work without a problem I think, cuz that is what I did in my Atrix 4g times.
Why flashable, just to do it on the way. If someone can help me making my stock baseband flashable I will appreciate it.
Thnx
I'm pretty sure those roms doesn't change your modem, but only system files.
Why it doesn't work is probably because the config is for i8190 and not i8190L modem.
Open the rom.zip and see if you find a modem.bin in there.. I think not.

even if you flash your baseband i think it will not work. wrong rom to your variant
any way, if you want, attach your baseband to make it flashable via odin.
Hi All,
Since this is my first post, my name is Robin and my hobbies are house music, playing the guitar and video games. nice to meet you!
I require some help with flashing a custom rom to my Samsung Galaxy S Advance (GT-I9070).
My goal is to have custom Rom working. The reason to change from stock 2.3.6. to a custom Rom is that is has become too slow and unresponsive to work with. I have changed to CM11 and then to Carbon Rom, and really like it, but both have a problem with reception. This is why i post it here, i don't think it is related to just a single Rom but to my phone in general.
I tried the following:
1. Gain root access through Odin. (baseband was originally I9700XXLK2, Dutch, carrier Tele2, which uses T-mobile network. not sure if the telephone was locked to this carrier).
2. flash TWRP using Odin.
3. download CM11 and google apps and flash it using TWRP.
4. no signal and com.phone.android stopped working every minute, as well as slow response when pressing power button.
5. flashed carbon rom, same problems.
6. went to xda-devs on irc for help, a nice guy explained to me that the problem likely resides in baseband.
7. downloaded the newest stock firmware for T-mobile in the netherlands from sammobile, extracted the modem.bin,md5 (after backing up efs and modem by help of the xda-dev on irc) and flashed it through odin as PDA after creating a tar file out of mode.bin.md5 ( by command tar -H ustar -c modem.img > modem2.tar)
8. Now the problems are gone except for the fact that i still have no reception! and baseband under settings --> phone is "smallband: unknown"!
Does anyone know of a solution to my problem? I wish to get reception. Did i not flash t he new modem image right?

You must flash stock JB to get its baseband to be able to use 4.1+ ROMs. If you have I9070, beware not to install I9070P firmware, because that will hardbrick your phone.
You can get firmware from samsung-updates.com or sammobile.com and look in general section for rest of guides, you have one thread with most needed stuff.

Thanks! That did the trick.
So, for anyone reading this later: in order to flash a custom 4.4.2 ROM to your GT-I9070 stock 2.3.6. phone, first flash jellybean! A nice guide is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198341
i, know that the title may sound a bit idiotic , but before telling me to flash this and that plz read out the entire problem,
So here goes..
I have a 16 gb Moto X xt 1052 (India) and weirdly I am not able to flash some custom roms present here, i flashed
[ROM][4.4.4][SlimKangs Moto X][SaberMod 4.8][Linaro][Build 7][2014/07/12]
and it flashed like a breeze, also eclipse rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/development/rom-eclipse-moto-x-v3-2-2-4-4-2-blur-t2521509
but, i haven't been able to install PA rom , CM11, Carbon, Dirty Unicorn , or any other rom saying unified built for msm8960dt
Plz tell me what should i do, and of course I tried , flashing them on TWRP, and CWM

This is probably the problem: Did you flash the entire stock SBF file for your carrier -before- you tried to install the roms that aren't working?
I didn't check them all, but the Eclipse rom you linked specifically says in the OP that you need to do this. It is because it requires you to be on the 4.4.2 boot.img (kernel) and baseband. You likely have mismatched versions because you have been flashing other ROMS.
Just follow the instructions in the "Return to Stock" thread to flash back to the most recent OFFICIAL firmware you were on. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DOWNGRADE! If at any point you had the 4.4.3 OFFICIAL ROM on the phone, do NOT flash 4.4.2
Also, if you ever had the 4.4.3 boot.img (kernel) on there, Eclipse specifically says it requires you to be on the 4.4.2 Kernel/baseband.
You need to be really careful to not downgrade. Doing this has left many X users with bricks...
Can you give that a shot and let us know if it fixes your issue?
Good Luck
No, plz Check the other rom , that rom too is a cm based rom i gues but it doesn't give me any trouble,
Also I tried flashing those rom over my stock rom but TWRP just says FAILED
I have not noticed that anyone has uploaded a Flashable radio only yet from 5.0.1. I was looking for only the included modem from the 5.0.1 update, so we can "dirty" flash only modem through TWRP, so that we can compare signal strengths between original 5.0.0 and the new modem. If anyone has uploaded and I have overlooked during my search, than I apologize in advance. Thank You.
haven't seen a flashable radio only zip yet.
however, here's the radio.img that's the same thing, just not packaged to flash through TWRP. gotta use fastboot to flash it.
Hello everybody,
I'd like to know if I can flash Cm12.1 on mY XT1092 ?
I'm running stock Lollipop 5.0.
So I have to unlock the bootloader then flash twrp revovery and then I Will be able to flash cm12.1 ?
Thank you for your answers.
Yes after all that you will be able to, I haven't because you have to consider that 5.1 is around the corner from Motorola
Sorry for exhuming this thread, but I have a problem in this described case. I hope anyone can help me out with my issue.
First of all, I am on the 20150827 nightly with stock kernel.
I have flashed CyanogenMod on my XT1092 (Europe, directly purchased from Motorola via Amazon). Since then the devices model changed to XT1095 in the about phone section. The issue I encounter is the lack of 4G/LTE connectivity. The best I can get to is HSDPA.
So I downloaded the stock XT1092 firmware (Android 5.1) for my device (location: Germany) and extracted the fsg and non-hlos files and flashed them in fastboot via adb. I also erased the modemst1 and modemst2.
I did a factory reset and dalvik / cache wipe before.
But in fact nothing has changed! The situation remained just the same as before.
Do you guys have any idea?
Also: Will I need to re-flash the modem files after I update to a new nightly (I update using cyan delta updater)?
Thanks in advance!

I thought I had downloaded it somewhere around this forum, but cannot find it. Anyways the same file is located here:http://www.android-hilfe.de/thema/factory-images-retdeall-xt1092-4-4-5-0-5-1-ota.703838/
It is the VICTARA_RETDE_XT1092_5.1_LPE23.32-25.1_cid7_CFC.xml.zip file.
No one?
