Personally, I am very happy with the purchase. The phone itself is fantastic. The problem, IMO, is marketing. This phone came out shortly after M7 and only for Asian markets. M7 was the international flagship that received all the attention and this one was left in the shadow.
This means that you won't find many ROMs or other stuff for this phone, but personally, I don't mind this, I think it's just fine even with the stock system with a few small modifications.

Thanks for the answer! Then i think if i'll have money i'll buy this phone
[Long time ago my senastion xe died and this phone looks like same but better]
Is there something that you dont like in this phone?
Laggs/Freeze/ bad game support/ "heat if u use too much"? or anything?

Well, there are a few things, such as the battery drain in Android 4.4, but I fixed that on my phone. Then there's the inconvenient placement of the power button (it's somewhat difficult to reach at the very top of the phone), but there's also a kernel for that.
Also, there's the purple camera issue, which is apparently a hardware problem and the only way to get it fixed is to send your phone to a service center to get the camera replaced. Mine does that too and I haven't found the time/motivation to send the phone for a repair yet; I don't use the camera that often.
Finally, there's a slight backlight bleed from the capacitive buttons. I hardly ever notice that, though, because you'll only see that at night when your screen is very dark and moreover you can dim the button backlight to reduce the effect.

Thanks for the answer!
"purple camera issue" its for your phone only or all phone may have this problem?
"slight backlight bleed from the capacitive buttons." I cant imagine this what is that?
http://www.notebookcheck.net/fileadmin/_processed_/csm_IMAG0838_c68bdcdc57.jpg like this? so mobil screeen lock but still light on buttons?
Same question: this is your phone ony or all phone have this?
These quiet big problems tho

This is a rather common issue with both the M7 and Butterfly S. Try to look around the forum, you'll find this has happened to a lot of people. Only today I have noticed mine started doing it too, which is too bad, since my warranty expired only a short while ago. I suppose I'll try to send it for a repair anyway, once I get a backup phone.
And since you don't seem to be familiar with this, it only happens in low light.
For reference, here are two pictures just snapped with my camera. In the first one you can only see a very subtle tint around the edges while the second one is almost entirely purple, with only a small change in the amount of light captured.

When the screen is completely black and the capacitive buttons' backlight is on, you'll see a faint light near the bottom edge of the screen (from the direction of the buttons). It appears to happen with all phones, but as I said, it is only noticeable when the screen is completely black. I, for example, only see this for about a second after I turn the display off, because the buttons' backlight turns off with a slight delay.

Thanks! (its looks like a pic with instagram xD)
I think maybe ill wait for buying these kind of serious problems.
If you could buy this or m8 which would u choose?

At this point the HTC E8 is a much better buy if you can get it cheaper.

At this point, I suppose I'd go with M8, but mostly because of the one-year difference.
By the way, I'll add one more thing about the purple camera problem – it has been reported numerous times that after replacing the camera the problem hasn't reappeared. Also, I suppose phones manufactured after a certain date shouldn't be affected by this, but this is just speculation on my part.

Yes, but keep in mind that the E8 is, again, not an international phone, but only for certain markets, so it's unlikely to get a lot of attention around here.

Yes I know, it depends where princesama1 is from. It's already been released in India, China, and has been announced for Taiwan and Russia. Except Russia, the Butterfly s was available in these markets.
They announced the J Butterfly today in Japan, it seems to be basically an E8 with dual 13MP cameras, waterproofing. Not sure if it has IR blaster or a bigger battery.

Thanks for the answers! If i'll have enough money probaly go with m8 (but with that i dont like that it dont have capacitive buttons only touch screen) if not ill go with Butterfly s

HTC quality control issue?

So i am the owner of a MDA (wizard), 8525 (hermes) and now 2 tilts (8925).. and im notcing a trend.. HTC has some serious quality control issues.. now i know not everything can be perfect on a phone so thats no issue, however.. here are my issues.. first we'll start with the famous MDA (htc wizard).. i had about 10 of them over a 1yr period.. everytime at least one of the keys on the keyboard would be pushed in slightly so that it wasnt level with the surface.. i found this VERY annoying.. also the slider seemed different on each phone no matter how many different ones i had the slider was different everytime! then we move onto the 8525.. same issue with the keyboard.. even the backlight was dim on some of the phones.. me and my buddies have 8525s and each one is different.. ones screen might be slightly brighter then the other and so on.. but its all the same model # and so on.. then this brings me to the tilt.. ive had 3 so far.. first one had to be replaced because half the keyboard backlight went out.. but i LOVED the slider on it.. it really clicked into place when closing the phone a very loud firm snap.. but then the screen tilted sort of weird.. it was off angle.. so now i get the replacement and the screen tilts higher then my previous one however when sliding it shut its not as firm i dont hear the loud snap anymore its more of a soft snap..which makes me feel its not so firm..so then after closer examination i notice my keyboard is a bit flakey too the G and H keys are off centered from the rest.. and the H key is pushed into the keypad slighty in the top left corner.. for a better example.. the Y U I H J K B N M 0 keys are white.. the rest are black.. well the G key is black and the H key is white.. u can clearly see the the G is slightly over into the white area.. i am VERY picky on this type of stuff when these phones cost hundreds of dollars.. and i hate calling to have my phone constantly replaced.. am i the only one whos experiencing these problems? i highly doubt it.. htc does have a serious quality control issue in my eyes..
ummm, Yes?
Are you just looking for a reason to complain? HTC from my experience, Dash, 8125, Kaiser, SDA, etc, etc are great phones. Nothing ever wrong with the hardware. I have only had to send my back due to WM5/6 errors. If your keys on the keypad a busted, try not killing the keys, they didn't do anything to you.
ive had same issues with the 8125, and 8525....
lol im not looking for a reason to complain i am a SUPER picky person tho. i absoutley LOVE my tilt but i just want to see if any one else is having the same issues and apprently im not alone!
I've noticed the same types of issues on numerous 8525's, and two Tilts. I've had SE, Samsung, and Moto phones, and never had to make an exchange until I got an HTC. Unfortunately, none of those manufacturers make a worthy PPC for the U.S. The best suggestion, unfortunately, is to try not to pay too much attention to the quality details, or go with another phone type/manufacturer. You could exchange the Tilt another 10 times and find something wrong with each device if you look too closely.

me and my buddy just said the same exact line..
What's the model for the Tilt (under the battery cover)? KAIS130, 120, 110, or 100?
Also, where is it made?
I myself am not a picky person but I am having an issue also. My D-pad/phone end call assembly ( the buttons on the front of the phone) is loose. it wiggles around. Is anyone else having this problem? I really don't want to return the phone because of all of the work don't to get the phone to where it is now. But I do not want the buttons to stop working in the future because of it. Does anyone know if ATT repairs the phones or replaces them. Also will my cooked ROM void the warinty (sp) for a hardware problem or will they not care?
yup, i'd have to agree with you, quality control is not their strong area

I have to Disagree.
I have a nearly 2 year old Wizard which has been heavily used and abused on a daily basis, rarely in a case, usually in a pocket with coins, pens etc or rattling around in a cup holder in the car. All the buttons, keys, volume slider and sliding keyboard work as well today as they did when new. No rattles or sticking buttons. Mini USB has never let me down for sync or charge. On only Two occasions the 2.5mm audio socket wouldn't recognise when the headset had been removed but this was solved by blowing into the socket and reinserting/withdrawing the headset plug.
My Vario III, while still in its youth, is showing no signs of being any different.
I've had countless Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola phones over the years and everyone of them was physically ready for replacing before they were out of 12 month contract. Sticking buttons, non functioning joysicks, loose sliders, creaking hinges, failure to charge etc. The only exception being Nokia 6210, which I'm sure if I found it after all these years would still have a charge on its battery . The battery life on that phone was unbelievable.
So far my only gripe with the tilt has been software issues! Video recording with the tilt is horrible, even in daylight! and tcpmp played my movies much smoother with the 8525 than the tilt! Otherwise the phone is definitely a solid build!

There is a slight wiggle, that because the D-Pad is a rubber pad without any support from the panel like in usual phones, so theres got to be that little bit play. Dont worry the worst that could happen is a bit of dust can get under it
I have a bit of a question myself . has anybody noticed the center portion of the touch screen is "softer" than the bottom. You can notice this if you hold thescreen at an angle and sloly press it with the stylus, it sort of goes in an mm or so. It was the same with my M600i but my Moto ROKR E6 is hard like a normal hard screen, I assume dthe TyTyn should be like that.
I bought my phone in SIngapore and I live in India, no service for the TyTyn2 here cause it has'nt been released, I'm just praying nothing happens to it. If you require parts you can always try www.cnn.cn, they have'nt got the TyTyn2 parts yet but will shortly. A cooked rom does void the warranty. Your phone can be replaced 15 days within your purchase date after which they will only repair it. I dont trust service centers, they throw in any damn used part(I know this cause I've worked in one ) I prefer doing it myself
Thanks for the info. I'm over the 15 days now and your right I don't wan't the service center to touch my phone. We'll see how it fares after a couple of months
I think all the people who say that they've never had a problem with their phone don't quite understand the original post. When you compare one Tilt to another, one 8125 to another, etc. the level of variation that HTC allows to roll off the assembly line is in general much greater than other phone makers. If you've never had a problem and only have had one device of a particular type, you don't really have anything to judge that variation by, unless you compare it to friends' phones.
As for myself, I had 2 8525's. I noticed that when I threw them against a wall, one continued to work and the other one shattered. Very poor quality control as far as I'm concerned. j/k
Seriously, I noticed that the sliding mechanism wobbled a lot more on the first one than it did on the second.
well after countless complaining att has agreed to replace my tilt which i have problems with.. they are sending me a brand new kit.. i hope that this will be a good kit because im sick of having problems with the tilt.. i love the phone but damn the quality isnt as strong as the 8525.. Blowfish64.. you are correct people arent quite understanding the orginal post.. because of these quality control issues id NEVER order a htc device off ebay because u cant return it... luckly with att/tmobile/sprint/altell/verizon you can call in to exchange dept and complain and usually they will send you a replacement model which is nice.. i understand htc is a HUGE company and probaly doesnt care about some tiny issues with their phones but i as a consumer who is spending hundreds of dollars DOES CARE and i have every right to be picky.. you guys mean to tell me if u spent 700$ on the tytnII and the keyboard buttons werent straight or evenly lit you wouldnt complain? i seriously find that hard to believe..

Quality Issues
I agree with the quality control issues. I recently had my original tilt stolen, unfortunately, and purchased another one. There are several differences in the feel of the same phone from one to another. The slide mechanism, D-pad, and keyboard all feel noticeably different.
Unfortunately, this second one has a distinct looseness in the sliding mechanism which when put under vibrate makes a distinct sound of cheapness. I will be calling ATT tomorrow to see if they will exchange for a new one.
Don't get me wrong, I love the phone, but given how much I had to pay a second, I want it to be good.
HTC QC = C+

Broken Xperia uses?

Hey there.
My Xperias screen is broken, the bottom half is dead but the touch is still working. The phone is fully functional except for this and that the slider is bent in the lower left corner a few millimetres. I am using my old K810i and I'm buying a new phone soon, but just leaving a functional Xperia to rot in a drawer seems a bit... uneconomical?
NOTE: I will NOT be repairing the screen. No, there is no insurance that covers a broken screen. No, I won't buy a replacement screen for 90 bucks. Don't suggest it, please.
What I am looking for are uses for this device now that I've decided not to repair it and rather get a new phone, so don't give me comments like "Why not fix it?", if you'd be kind. I want to utilize the phone as it is, maybe the keyboard can be connected to my PS3, maybe I can sell the phone, maybe I can use it as something else. All suggestions are welcome!
Thanks
/Felix
Anything else than selling it will require huge effort and good tech skills.
if you're not gonna fix it, sell it; it's basically useless. Give someone else the chance to resurrect it.

Hm.. since there are devices with a 480x480 resolution on WM6.1, I am thinking it might be possible to cook a ROM that uses 480x480 instead of 480x800 and therefore the part of the screen that's still working would be quite usable.
I don't know if this would really work or if anyone has ever even tried it, it's just an idea.

Nexus One Screen problems

So it just happened this past Friday, a white bar appeared on the right side of my phone's screen and shortly after my phone ran outta batteries. When I plugged it in to charge the screen just slowly showing a blossoming of pixel colors all over the screen. If i leave it alone it will boot into the OS fine and I can hear all my notifications and everything seems to work fine but the screen just turns black with a thin blue bar of light on the top. Is there anyway to fix this aside from replacing my screen? and is it a digitizer problem?
now the screen is just completely black when i turn it on, but it is still responsive. I can still unlock and open apps and swipe the screen, etc. Does anyone know what is wrong and what needs to be replaced? Please help!

your LCD has gone bad. this is a fairly easy repair, but there are a few places you need to be VERY careful or you can break things (like your power button)
the Nexus One has TWO different models of LCD and you HAVE to use the one that was originally in your phone.
One is made by Samsung and is fairly common/easy to find. its gonna run you about $30-50
There is also an LCD made by Sony which is a little more difficult to find (and mostly used on the Desire) but it costs anywhere up to $100+ so lets hope thats not yours :]
if you arent comfortable doing the repair there is a company called Cell Phone Repair that has stores in almost every state and they even take mail orders if you are not located near one.

HTC One camera focus problem [video]

hi guys
i hope i can explain what's happening in correct english, if i make some mistakes please forgive me
i've got a big problem with my one
when i start the camera app, and it happens EVERY TIME, the camera takes a long time to begin "responding" to my commands
i'll try to explain
i start the camera
the camera begins to focus all the way out, then come back all the way in, and THEN if i tap it will correctly focus on the object i tapped on
if i tap before all this, it just doesn't focus
so i have to wait several seconds to begin "shooting" photos, and this happens anytime i will start the camera app
with the night or in low light, the problem is even bigger taking betweet 5 to 10 second to be "operative"
i've made a video on this problem but please be advised i've used an iphone in one hand while having the htc in the other, so i don't know if you can see exactly what happens
it's normal or it's my one that is faulty?
PS: i had this problem with stock 1.28 and now i have the trickrom 3.5 ( based on 1.29 ) and the issue is still here
in the video you can see that i try to focus on the electronic cigs without success... i will reach to focus around 0:24
looks like your lens isnt moving to focus.. have u tried sending it in?

HTC doesn't care. You can send it in teo HTC USA and they will take care of it. I had a international ONE X that had different processor housing etc... and they took care of it no problem.

Could be a hardware issue. Some early devices has a focusing problem.
same here mine doesn't focus good, i might bring it back to the t-mobile store where i bought it

[Q] Moto G 2nd Gen Yellowish display!

Hello friends i purchased 2nd gen moto g on 25th dec in india from flipkart! I got it delivered on 26th dec. that was really fast! thank you for that flipkart!
But after using it for next 2-3 days i found white pixels on my moto g to be little yellowish! i compared my moto g to my friend's moto g(same model) and his phone is perfectly fine! i tried digging for the solution on internet and i found out that some other people also complain about the same! they also said that the replacement unit is also same! Is there anyone else from india who is facing the same issue? What i should do? Will flipkart replace my phone? Really worried.. and if it replaces the device is there any chance for new device having the same problem ?
Please share your experience about replacement with flipkart in india.
May be if someone has bought Moto G 2014 in last few days can check their phone and reply? Just wanna know if the whole bunch of stock is damaged?!?!?! may be?
here is the screen shot i took with my phone! I have no idea if it looks yellowish in screenshot or not! that can be a hardware fault or an lollipop update will fix it ?
Are you just saying that you think the color temperature is too warm or what? A screenshot won't show that. Pictures posted by other owners have shown color temperature variance of ~1000K or more, and the measurements I've seen vary greatly. PhoneArena measured their review sample at 8290K, NotebookCheck measured one at 7336K, and I measured my own XT1064 at 6855K (20% - 100%). So there seems to be a large variance. Because it is typical for phones to have a color temperature that is too cool, I wonder if some of you people who complain about "yellow" screens may actually have phones that are reasonably close to the ideal of ~6500K and perhaps don't know what an accurate color temperature looks like?
Although I've a different kitkat phone but I don't see any color difference b/w mine & yours(in msg. app, for instance)...Both appear same.

This won't show up in a screenshot. He would need to take an actual photo of the phone to show the color temperature, but that would be affected by the lighting, the camera, our monitors....
The version of Android will have no affect on this at all, and Android doesn't support color correction.
It would be rare for phones to have a color temp that is too warm. They are usually too cool.
But FWIW, the phone shown in this picture does appear to have a very warm color temp. There is obviously a huge variance from unit to unit, and it may be even more of a problem in India than elsewhere. My US model has a decent (slightly cool) color temp and slightly undersaturated colors. It's a big improvement from my Sensation.

Yeah bro thanks for care but the android version is just okey because my friend is on the same stock ROM that i have! And his phone is just fine!
I dont know much about color temp on any device honestly! but i just know is that the phone that i have it's display looks sooo dull due to yellow color on white pixels! i compared it with the other phone (same model "Moto G 2014") that my friend has! His phone displays perfect clear white! That makes me worried about this thing being a defective unit! I have seen on internet people talking about putting their phone in direct sunlight to remove yellow tint but i dont think i should do this coz i just bought it from Flipkart so its their responsibility to provide a fully working unit!
I will only keep this if a software update can fix this issue!
Though i have already requested replacement i haven't got any call back from them to ensure the replacement process! This is the first time i'm feeling this bad service from flipkart
I'm attaching a picture taken with other camera in the first post! take a look.. sorry about the picture quality! i just hav my old nokia phone that i can use as a camera for now!
I have added another screenshot and i see there is nothing wrong coming up in the screen shot so Is it the hardware issue with the LCD panel ? :crying
Have the same issue. And other too.

I have the same issue with my unit itself. It is way too yellowish. Color calibration is always same for the same model from the software-side. Eg. Your's and your friend's phone. So it is a hardware issue. Good thing you requested for replacement. Flipkart will take a bit of time to get back to you on Electronics replacement, because they would like to help you troubleshoot first with the assumption that just something is set wrong and it is not a hardware issue. I requested yesterday and they got back to me today only. Just for information, I requested replacement for flushed buttons on side. I have a really hard to press power button and volume rocker. Replacement is on it's way. And yours will be soon too, nothing to worry.
Btw, how are the buttons feeling on your phone? Is it mushy or hard to press or something like that? Just so I know.

Yes thank you for reply i got my replacement approved and on it's way now. Will reach to me before 8th jan! Soo excited once again!
Read somewhere that a guy asked for the replacement for his yellowish looking display on moto g and got the same issue on new replacement unit (from Flipkart ofc)! I hope that wont happen to us. Fingers cross!
Talking about the buttons, they were hard on the first day but got lose just in 2 days after i started using it! My friend told me to be careful with buttons as they get very loose overtime!
Can you tell me when you got your moto g delivered to you?
Same old same old.

yeah same thing! I also got it today! same yellow tint! and mushy buttons! I think the buttons were better on the previous unit! I'm thinking of keeping this now! what ure doing with ur device?
I saw that the same tint is found on the new one plus one! And also people are saying it goes away in 2-3 weeks! or by putting the phone in sunlight for 2 hours!
are you going for another replacement? Do they give refund??

The screen doesnt have any issue, per say. But it is heavily warm (manufacturing is done with more than one screen providers at hand. My guess is, it's from another producer), and that is something I do not want. Besides that i have a few dead pixels. And considering those utterly crap buttons, I'm gonna go for refund. They do refund. But i'm not sure how that's gonna play out as i bought it in a buyback program. Let's see how it goes.
