I have a factory unlocked no carrier branding moto x i bought second hand nearly a year ago. Two days ago when I was outside and I was trying to make a phone call, there was no ringing noise and when the person picked up we couldn't hear each other. I rebooted the phone but it happened again. It happened again earlier today, and when it happens I can't play music or hear any sounds coming from the phone at all. I get an error from the google play music app saying I can't play music, so this leads me to believe it is a software issue. I haven't downloaded an app in weeks, so i'm not sure what it is. I'm running stock rooted 4.4.3, im on Tmobile and haven't gotten the 4.4.4 rollout. Anyone else ever get something like this? I'm thinking of just factory resetting the phone and perhaps loading a custom rom.
I would just try the factory reset first... Or a rom if you wish. Stock based roms let you keep your moto features, aosp ones do not, and most have some bugs.
Or you can try flashing stock again. Just don't downgrade. Flash same version or higher. ?

Hey guys, I've got a problem and am hoping the minds at XDA can help.
My brother and I both have a Nexus One and both have unlocked bootloaders. I've never had a problem installing custom roms or restoring back to the shipping rom, or suffered any problems whatsoever.
However his phone, suffers random reboots all the time. I unlocked his bootloader and from the very first Rom we had problems. I double-checked my methods and even tested it again on my phone with no problem whatsoever. So, he got back into town today and I restored his phone to the shipping rom (userdata, boot, system, radio, etc.) It still randomly reboots. I thought it might have been a bad battery and swapped it out with a different one, and I was able to mess around longer with the phone, but it still rebooted on its own accord.
I told him he could call HTC, but more than likely he would have to pay 180 dollars to replace the motherboard on the phone. He says he'll just deal with the random reboots instead of the possibility of paying the money.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be, because after reflashing the shipping rom I'm out of ideas. Another odd thing I noticed with his phone from the get-go was the haptic feedback and vibrations in general, they were barely noticeable, almost non-existent as compared to my and my friend's nexus one.
I don't know if any of you have this issue from 4.3, but from 4.3 the apps in my phone crashed randomly, which would lead to the entire phone crashing.
This is a new S4A phone that I received from insurance company after I lost my 4.2.2 S4A, which ran faultlessly with custom launchers and rooted.
So this new phone I dare not to run anything special but still the phone apps crashed randomly and regularly on the first day that I received.
I soon returned the phone to ATT store, but they only re-flash the stock ROM, SLOWLY ( It took them 2 weeks of time to give it back to me even with every other day phone harassment from me )
That didn't solve my problem as later I encountered app crashing again and I've ran MULTIPLE Odin to re-flash the offical 4.3 ATT ROM, and factory reset myself - almost everything but they didn't help at all.
Then I tried this new update to 4.4.2, and like the 4.3 I tried to play it safe by not going to use any launchers or root it, not even to turn off the bloatwares when I was giving the option to, but now I find out I'm getting the same issue. :crying:
Is this software problem or hardware problem of my new phone ? I don't want to give the phone to the ATT store again with that slow service, I'll rather try to solve this problem by myself if anyone knows how.
I'll keep this short.
I got a moto G 2nd gen from WindMobile in Canada (terrible carrier btw), it automatically downloaded the Lollipop update, which I didn't want.
Long story short, it's garbage. I've had the phone for 3 months and it was great, fast, responsive. Now with this update, it lags 2-3 seconds, it's terrible.
My option with the carrier is to send it to Motorola but they said they can't put Kit Kat back on the phone. Total garbage.
So I did some searching on here and signed up after the mass confusion.
My phone is the XT1064 version.
But it seems there are so many out there.
Am I okay to just get one from here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...dows-tool-moto-g-2014-xt1064-restore-t2957167
or from here, but there are 3 different versions it seems...how do I know which one is the right one for my phone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/xt1064-canadian-stock-firmware-t3048167
Do I need to root the phone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/wip-unlock-bootloader-moto-g-2nd-gen-t2875728
It came unlocked, so I don't know if it's the same thing or not.
I just want my phone to work the way it did out of the box, nothing fancy or anything, just a simple phone.
Thanks.
Oh and here's another site with so many versions, this is just crazy.

Hello. First of all try to factory reset your phone, since you installed the brand new version, there are a lot of garbage in it. if this won't help, you can unlock bootloader and install Titan Prime ROM, which i am using right now. No lags, almost pure android, with no moto apps. To install custom rom you don't have to root your phone. BTW, got mine from Staples, did not notice any lags on Lollipop
I did reset my phone and it keeps going back to lollipop. Battery drains very fast, opening app lag 2 seconds minimum, dialing lag is worse, 3-4 seconds.
Done with this, I just want the original kitkat that came out of the box or something similar.
So anyone give me suggestions for a stock xt1064 kitkat version that I can download.
I tried the ROM thing, not working out at all, my network isn't working, so I tried factory reset and it still doesn't work.
I guess a clean factory install would help.
Anyone? please?
Thanks.
I posted this in an older thread but figured I would just go ahead and make a separate post about it.
Ever since I updated the phone to 5.1 it has crashed repeatedly, super laggy, battery life is significantly worse than kitkat, Turbo charge seems to take longer than on kitkat, my texts and calls won't go through, and on a rare occasion my phone will reboot by itself. I've cleared the cache regularly and have factory reset a couple of times and the problems will go away for about a week, but only to return again. I'm going to Verizon tomorrow to see if they can do anything.
Anybody else have these issues with their Turbo?

I'm not experiencing any of this. Have you troubleshot apps that you have downloaded as possible culprits? Also, did you upgrade via OTA or did you manually flash the 5.1 update via rootjunky? I've heard multiple people having issues with the flashed one.
Maybe it's one of the apps you have installed. Try a FDR and install your apps a few at a times. Try to pinpoint which app is constantly taxing your phone. If all else fails make verizon give you another 4.4.4 Turbo
So I went to Verizon yesterday and they couldn't do anything for me. I just took the OTA that came out yesterday and I am hoping it fixes more than the stage fright exploit. If not I guess I will be migrating back down to my old Galaxy S4.

If you haven't already, try using the Verizon Upgrade Assistant (that annoying thing that pops up every time you plug your phone into a computer) and select repair. This will do the cleanest wipe possible, reflash everything and bring you up the the latest firmware version. If you still have problems after that, chances are you're using an app that lollipop doesn't like, or you have a physically defective unit.
I ended up with what I think was a physically defective unit, and I got a warranty replacement straight from Motorola. The process was painless, and as long as the phone doesn't have any physical damage and was never exposed to water (in most modern phones, there's a water-sensitive sticker on the inside that changes color when exposed to water, so they can tell if you're lying), you basically just have to ask for it.
In fact, forget what I said in my first paragraph. Just get the Motorola replacement.

OK guys quick update I sucked it up and got the Motorola replacement and it works perfectly now, turns out I had a factory fault or something
My phone isn't laggy, but my Turbo charging is definitely slower, my WiFi is hit or miss at times, and the battery does seem to drain a bit faster but isn't too awful.

Hello!
My first thread on this one of a kind forum! So here's my problem: sometimes, when I get a call, the phone lights up and shows the caller name and call receiving interface, but no matter how many times I swipe left or right, it hangs and eventually the call drops. But on the other side, the call keeps on ringing. Which means the person on the other side thinks I am a lazy bum who never picks up :| (ie. My mother :|) There are good days and the bad days, meaning, I experience only one or two call drops on some days and then there are days when every freaking call gets dropped.
Solutions I have tried:
1) I noticed the problem first when I updated my phone to lollipop (official update). So I figured maybe the update was at fault. When the problem got severe I decided to roll the version back to kitkat. So I unlocked the boot loader and flashed the firmware.
2) Unfortunately, the problem persisted even then. It's important to understand this problem only started after the update. First four months with original firmware were total bliss.
3) Since even the original firmware gave me a lot of hell I decided to bid adieu to the whole institution of moto firmware and flashed cyanogen 12. The problem is still sometimes evident. Not as much as the moto firmware. But it's still there.
What to do? Is my hardware at fault? I hope not. If not the hardware, then how to fix this software problem? And why is it happening in cyanogen if it's a moto firmware issue? What can I do? Please help! Thanks.
