Hey guys, my xperia z recently got wet and all the flaps were closed but somehow some water managed to get in. The phone is still working fine but there seems to be water bubbles on the screen and the screen color gets washed out. I used a vacuum to suck them out and it worked. The screen went back to normal, but after a few minutes it starts to fog up again and I have to vacuum it again. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I could fix this? Thanks

Take it to service. Or if you have experience you could try disassemble it by yourself and let it dry.
Thanks but I was thinking maybe there is an easier fix since nothing is really wrong with the phone. It's weird that if I just suck air out of the port the screen goes back to normal. After a while when it heats up the screen gets washed out again. I tried putting it in rice for 3 days but that didn't work.

Your screen is damaged with water, you can't fix that. You can only replace it to fix that problem.

Alright thanks for trying to help, but if u had read what I said carefully you'd known that the screen is fixed whenever I blow air into it but after some time it gets washed out again and I have to blow in it again. If there was something wrong with the screen it wouldn't be working at all. I was only looking for a way I could keep the air out on my own. Thanks anyways though

Yay! Yeah so my brother spilled water over my htc one.It switches on then switches off
So now what?Have put it in silica gel of now.
What are the chances of getting it replaced if any?The yellow behind the flash is still yellow if that helps.

You will not be able to get it replaced under warranty (if that's what you mean) because they will be able to tell that it has been water-damaged by checking the sensor inside the device.

I'd try turning it off and putting it in a bag of uncooked rice for 24 hours and then see how it performs. If it doesn't work, then your best bet is to contact HTC and see if they can repair it for you or give you a replacement with discount.

Bro I am from India so service center guys here are complete noobs.
Opening a HTC is not an easy task and the amount of water wasn't that much.It wasn't completely submerged in water. The water seeped through the lower speaker so there might be some chance that the sensor isn't tripped.
Yeah, put it in dry rice for a few day`s as has been mentioned before.
EDIT : check the video below, water test on Iphone and S4 , and repair with rice.

I've contacted them and the HTC one is currently in testing and they will have it certified within a few weeks.
Also definetly try the rice trick
Good luck
Also the water damage detector is the yellow inside the led flash on back of the phone. If there is no yellow but red the water sensor is tripped.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
And when it's all said and done, buy a Xperia Z or S4 Active. Then write a letter to HTC asking them to build a water resistant phone.
I love my One more than my Xperia Z, but I worry less when using the XZ. It's a worthwhile tradeoff...IMO of course.

Because mine is still yellow. :fingers-crossed:
When I connect it to the charger the orange light keeps flashing continuously(it happens when the battery is extremely low).Gave it to the service center today let's see what happens.
The yellow stuff that you see through the flash glass is the LED itself.
However, there might be some water sensitive material AROUND the LED ...

Do you have to open the phone to see it?
Or can you just tell by looking directly through it.Because I can't see anything red around my flash.
I'm only telling you what I have found out reading the forums. I did not opened my phone ...
The idea is that there might be some indicator around or next to the led but I have no idea if actually is such thing. The yellow square is the LED ... but maybe (i repeat, MAYBE) HTC put something there. I'm saying that because there are some guys pretending that when they returned the device to be exchanged/repaired under warranty, the guys at the repair center looked in the flash to see if it was any water damage ... I have no idea if this is true or not ...

Yeah gave it to the service center and they found water damage. They replaced the mainboard and the battery and charged me 200$ or Rs 12k.
But it's working fine as of now and the whole thing of one being irreparable wasn't true.
I was in the beach 2 days ago and I brought my xperia Z along. I decided that it was a good idea to take underwater videos and pictures above the water. They all looked great. The only problem is that, its been two days since that happened and my speaker is still muffled. It usually gets dry in a few hours, this time I'm worried it might have damaged for good. I believe that maybe little grains of sand made their way through the grill and are keeping the sound low or something else. Anyways, just wanted to ask if anyone can advise me on what to do. I had my C6002 since its release and have submerge it in numerous pools but never on a beach. Any help will be appreciated, thanks
Sent from my C6602 using xda premium
I wouldn't recommend open the device, you could lose the water resistance altogether.
My only advice would be letting the device on rice for a while with the flaps open.
Anyway, my take on this subject is this:
I wonder now why everyone thinks that kind of water resistance will make the phone indestructible.
For me, that water resistance (not waterproof) just makes me feel more confident about my device surviving water related accidents.
Just taking the device to the swimming pool defeats its certification (2 m deep pools are not uncommon, you know), splashing, swimming, just moving around under water, or even worst jumping into the water violently just multiplies the pressure around your device by more than those 0.1 bar.

After spending the night on a ziplock bag full of rise and turned off, I'm happy to report that the speaker is as good as new. I'm super happy. Now, there's one weird issue. Its in another thread, but suddenly I have dead pixels in my camera. See the light switch on the left and notice how there is a black dot on either side. These are persistent around every photo I take. Any thoughts?

You are probably going to eventually destroy the water proof membrane inside the speaker if you continue to do that. Not good advice.

Well it's your choice but it takes a quick spray and it'd back to normal.
If you did it with 10 psi sure but this is can which is like 10 psi.
It's up to you but it's not much dissimilar to blowing it with your mouth

Amazingly, I left the phone over night on a bag of rice and not only did it fix the issue it had another unexpected effect. Now, when I wet the speaker its back to normal almost immediately. I was at a lake yesterday, used the phone to record under water, take photos, and guess what? It was fully loud each time almost immediately after I got out of the water. This phone hasn't seize to impress. I highly recommend to consider the rice. Often times, naturally aspired solutions are the better choice.

Hi there!
Don't worry! (I think... lol)
I have the same "issue"...
I think it's normal.. You should be worried if you see water get inside the "orange area", where the battery is.
I wash my phone once a week and when i finish, i dry it with a towel and open the back cover to dry some little drops of water that entered the camera and lower area, as you said.
Always make sure the back cover and connections are really closed and it should be fine! (I hope! )

The touch screen simply can't work underwater, it's just the physics of how it works. Also when it's wet it can work improperly as well. I've found though that when it's wet, if you turn the screen off then on again, it seems to remember where all the water drops are and learns to ignore them, meaning it will work quite well despite the water.
And I'm sorry, but it is not and nor has it ever been cold in Egypt . It's negative 23 C where I am from right now. That is cold
Thank you

I don't think so. Mine under water, 2cm under clean water in a glass, do not working either. No signal, no touch screen, nothing. Probably it's meant to be like that, a kind of safety.

It is a capacitive touch screen, which means that it senses your finger because it has a different conductivity than the air around it. So does water, so the water is detected across the entire touch screen and prevents the screen from differentiating your finger and all of the water.
Based on @301stSpartan's post it sounds like the touch screen has some capability to ignore inputs it thinks are invalid. I tested this a little bit and it seems to be true:
1) Lock the phone, turning the screen off.
2) Use your thumb to cover a large area of the screen.
3) Turn the screen back on, remove your thumb and quickly try to swipe where you placed your thumb. For about 0.5s, the screen will not respond to your finger. After that, it will work normally.
@xasbo, that why I said is not an issue. Even if there is some trick to make it work the touch screen I don't even try and is not the touch screen dead only under water, the signal too. We can just make pictures because maybe this is his reason.
