HTC One Camera problem purple spots - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
So lately when taking pictures in low light conditions I've been noticing purple spots in the right top corner of my pictures.
I did some research and I found a problem with a purple haze but I think this is a different problem.
Here is an example of what I mean:

Picture 2:

As you can see it doesn't matter when or how I take my picture the spots seem to be in the same place.
I have the international version and i'm running Viper One 6.2.1 android version 4.4.2.
Does anyone know what this is and if there is a way to fix it?
Thanks on advanced!

No FIX.
I had same issue with the phone (at&t version). since i was under warranty, at&t replaced me with a Refurb one. Try installing AOSP based rom, or ARHD and see if the issue still persist.

HTC replaces phone with another defective one
I recently discovered my HTC ONE M7 has dead pixels on the top of the screen (notifications bar, which sucks as you cant access any shortucut to the notifications and need to look for the app on your own) and in the middle of the screen (when there is something to click on that spot i have to scroll up or down where the screen actually works. In some cases the page can't be scrolled down or zoomed therefore I am just screwed without options).
Turns out this happens 6 months after I got this phone exchanged by HTC (because the original phone I bought had a defective camera with purple color bug). This means the screen of the "new" phone I got has a life span of 6 months without defects only. SIX MONTHS!!
It seems when HTC replaces your phone for a new one they are just giving you defective products or refurbished products, which will break shortly after.

So nobody knows what is causing this problem and if its hardware or software related?

Flickering screen

i now have the touch hd for 3 weeks and i noticed a slight flickering in the touch flow interface. there is a grey area on the top of the screen (where it says mail and wheather etc) and when you look at it i see a slight flickering (only when you look closer (20-30 cm or closer). i tried turning of the auto adjust for the screen light but this doesn't work. also in a store i looked at another touch HD and noticed the same.
the strange thing is dat when i look at a full screen photo or just about any other aplication, then i don't see the flickering. so is this a defect or a software issue or something else??
anyone with the same experience and knows a solution. HTC won't respond to my e-mails
Screen Flicker
Hi,
Not sure if this is the correct section of the forum but seeing as someone has already started a thread regarding this. I have the same screen flickering issue! It's bugging me!!
i just did some research of my own, held 4 touch HD phones in my hands today, all with the exact same problem. so it is not a single defective phone if it is a defect, it might be a production error or a software problem.
(i know this problem doesn't belong here, i am new here and accidentally placed this topic here. sorry. don't know how to place it in the right place. maybe a forum moderator??)
just made a call with HTC Netherlands. the person on the phone also had an touch HD and spotted the same problem. he told me this was a new problem and he could only send it to HTC hoping that more people will report on the same problem and that they will start working on it.
he thought it had to do with the refress rate of the screen. i don't whink it is, as it only has this problem with certain teints of grey. (like in the touch flow interface)
Could you guys move your posts to an existing thread instead?

Camera glitches?

Hello. I received my handset on Saturday morning from P4U and have been very impressed so far, especially compared to my experience with the One X last year where I had to swap 3 handsets before finding one without a major problem.
I have noticed however a possible glitch with the camera. When using the camera outside in bright sunlight I sometimes get glitches on the screen in the form of a jumping/rippling effect which is sometimes accompanied by a faint crackling/clicking notice. On one occasion it would not focus at all, with the screen rippling the whole time and refusing to focus. Following turning off and on again I have not had the problem to the same same degree, although it does happen occasionally with maybe just one of two ripples before the image on the screen settles down. The issue does not seem to arise in other scenarios (indoors, etc). Had I not had the situation where the camera could not focus at all I would just have put it down to the particular way that the camera focuses
Also I noticed that when the issue was most pronounced, I was standing outside our house in a bad/poor mobile reception area, just on fringe of out Wifi connection within the house. The phone was also set to auto update and was trying to do so. Could this therefore be some sort if interference issue interfering with the camera sensor or imaging chip?
Hs anyone else experienced anything similar? I am very pleased with the handset so if this is standard I would not exchange it. However if this is an indication that I have a dodgy camera module or imaging chip I would want to do something about it now.
Many thanks.
Just tried to use the camera to take photos at the theatre in combination of dark foreground and bright background. Camera struggled to focus on a number of occasions, with repeated clicking and pulsing/ripples on the screen as before. Never seen anything like it with a digital camera. Might be something to do with ultrapixel technology but it can't be right can it? Any ideas? Looks like an exchange may be necessary...
Reminds me of another thread...you should check out this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196059
Might be the same problem.
Thanks - I had seen that one too. Not the same effect, but I have seen that issue as well.
I called P4U today and got given a swap code to exchange the handset in-store, which I did earlier today. Not had a chance to test the new one, but hopefully it won't have the same issue as I have not seen anyone else complain about it before.

Do you have a video clip to show the ripple effect you have mention?

[Q] Strange discoloration on my screen

Dear note users,
Recently I encountered the second discoloration of colors on my screen, for example the center of the chrome icon and everything blue turns purple, this problem occurs in the entire os. I have also made a screenshot and after the phone magically restored the colors; it turned the screen off, because I wasn't using the phone and when I turned it back on the colors on the screen were back to normal; and the colors on the screenshot were also normal. So apparently the os sees the colors properly....
So what do you think is this a hardware failure (I am thinking it is), also if it is, does it fall under guarantee? And finally my screen is ok, for most of the time, but sometimes this error does occur. How can I possibly tell the guys of the Samsung service center something is wrong with the screen? I did take a phone with my point to shoot, but they could say it's photoshop or something and the photo is a bit blurry. Since I cannot force the phone into this situation I can't also make new photos....
I am using alliancerom v3 and speedmod k3, I also don't think the error was due to the rom and kernel, because both weren't developed when the previous discoloration occured....

Take a video
Try changing ROMs, full wiping etc...
R: [Q] Strange discoloration on my screen
I also had this issue, two times to be exact... I was worried that gpu was going to break. Do you have the gpu's voltages decreased?
Ps: I'm not saying it's a gpu problem (it's a simple thought) , so don't worry
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Same issue
I got the same problem too. i thought im the only one...I agree with hom.hom.. it the hardware problem, FYI warfareonly, i tried to change ROM, full wipe and everything...the problem still occurred..as what hom.hom said it hardware issue..
some picture taken from webcam..
Yeah, with me it looks just the same; I suppose the problem is that you can't reproduce this issue. So the Samsung repair center probably won't repair your phone. After your phone went to sleep or you reboot the issue disappeared for me. Is this the same case for you, and have you checked at a repair center of they fix this issue for you?

[Q] What is wrong with my camera?

Hello,
I have a brand new HTC One, and the camera is acting weird.
As a video is worth a thousand words, I managed to capture the problem and put it on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqRLqJZ89g0
As you can see, the camera randomly clicks as it looks like it tries to focus or something. The clicks are very loud too. It does so in full daylight as well, randomly, I could not determine a pattern.
Also, there is a pinkish halo on the center of the screen, at times, but it might be a different issue.
Did anyone else experience this?
In the meantime, the phone is being swapped today, but I wonder if this is an isolated problem or not.
For what it's worth, it is a late april, Shanghai manufactured model, unbranded, gray, bought at a retail store in France.
It may be your one Zoe should be fixed. Try not to move around very quickly. If the problem remains, send it to HTC customers support.

Purple Defect in the Front Facing Camera

(Some say purple, and blue in my screenshot)
Anyone has this issue?
I just heard about this from the links below, and tested with mine.. Unfortunately Mine has purple spots too.
It's been a month since I bought it. Will I get a refurbished one if I ask for a exchange??
Anyone dealt with Verizon regarding this problem?? Any Suggestions?

I just went through the same exact issue with my wife's S4. Different phone I know, but the purple, pixelated artifacts on the screen indicate a camera sensor hardware failure. The phone was still under warranty so I worked through Samsung Help and Verizon Tech Support to troubleshoot. A few things they had me do before sending a replacement phone were:
1. Toggle between front and rear cameras to see if it's present in both.
2. Switch between camera modes and resolutions (if applicable) to see if it disappears in any. Go ahead and zoom in if you could and see if it goes out of view.
3. Clear camera cache and data using the app manager.
4. Start the device in safe mode and check to see if it's an installed app that's affecting it - safe mode disables all non-system apps.
5. Factory reset the device.
After all of that, the conclusion was exactly as I expected: cam sensor hardware failure and warranty replacement. I can't speak to whether you'd get a refurb or new device as a replacement. Probably have a great chance to get a new device if you exchanged it in the store.
