Ended up Sunshining and upgrading FW to latest and am now fixed.
So you had no OS and we're able to use sunshine? How tho? I am such at the bootloader with no OS and no recovery. My bootloader for some reason got locked and everything that I have come across doesn't seem to work. :crying:

I didn't not have an OS. It's just that the number didn't show up in the boot loader. This number turned out to be the firmware number.
As I had a nandroid backup saved I used that to restore functionality to the phone and thankfully it was ARHD which able to be S-OFFed using Sunshine.
Have you tried unblocking the bootloader again?

The missing OS version is caused by some versions of twrp 2.7.x.x recovery.
These versions have a bug that writes a bad instruction to the misc partition for bootloader messages, and inadvertently wipes your OS version number.
The only way to restore it is to flash firmware.

I have an OS version but when I flashed the ARHD ROM and rebooted it when it was shutting down it told me that the phone needed to have SuperSU installed and it asked if Imwanted to install which I said yes to but it didnt install anything instead it just rebooted and stayed in the boot screen for the longest so I turned it off and restarted it but nothing would happen same stuck in boot screen. Went into recovery re flashed the ROM and rebooted the phone when I did that it sais that there was no OS imstalled and asked if I was sure that I wanted to reboot the phone. So now I am stuvk at yhe bootloader, Relocked for some reason with S-On and I have no clue on what to do.

Try TWRP 2.6.3.3 it seems to work best for most stock roms.

You will have to unlock the bootloader first. If you are able to get to the bootloader you should be able to unlock your phone.
Ive tried several times and it doesn't let me. But me try again.

If you are not able to unlock your bootloader, then you will need to find a RUU to reset your phone.

From the same site that had the RUU if you scroll down he also has the firmware from the RUU. You might try to flash it but your bootloader must be locked since you are S-ON.

1. CID_38 isn't a valid CID, it'll start with HTC or with the initials of your carrier so please post your proper, FULL CID, e.g HTC__001
2. There isn't an 'India' RUU - it'll be the Asian model or the EU one
3. Run the command 'fastboot getvar all' and post the results (but remove your IMEI and serial number). We can then see what you actually need

Yeah, it's actually got to be the Asian WWE, and I think it's also the same for the Singapore variant (India is supposed to be x.xx.720.x, but we have x.xx.707.x, the dual-sim variant has a x.xx.720.x)

Crap, you're yet s-on. Ok, sure, now that RUU won't work.
Go to fastboot mode and flash twrp recovery from your pc
Use an otg USB cable and flash a rom from your USB drive or side load a rom with twrp.

That doesn't matter, it will get rid of all of that itself and return your phone to full stock.

Oke guys,
I probally did one of the most stupid things. Got my One transformed tot a GPE 4.3 version works smooth. Yesterday an OTA update to 4.4 really messed up my day. Try to install everything gone....No i am not able to install any version at al.
Got the last version of TWRP installed. got myself an unlocked bootloader even an 4.3 GPE rom. But TWRP keeps giving me the message "Error flashing zip: 'sdcard/<M7_UL_JB443_STOCK_UI.
can someone help me solve this problem..
For 4.3 Roms you need twrp 2.6.3.0 and not 2.6.3.3.
Flash it and let us know

Thans for you answer. I now got another one. "Unable to mount /data
unable to mount internal storage
I'm also not able to mount then by the menu.
Why do you need to mount internal storage?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
After installing the right twrp version. i use ADB to push the image.zip to my phone. Then i use twrp install and browse to my sdcard where the image.zip is transferred to. when i click it it gives that error. By the way he also starts with error flashing zip.
Comlete error is:
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/M7_UL_JB43..
updating partition details
e:unable to mount /data
e: unable to mount internal storage
i fear for my device...
Please anyone who can help me?
what about to boot to Bootloader, connect to some tools like Hasoon2000 Toolkits (cannot post links yet, sorry) and format everything you got, than flash the recovery again and push the rom via adb
make sure you download rom without any downloader
do not worry, i bricked my one the same day i got it and took me two nights to make it work again it needs lot of trying and searching but eventually you fix it
Thanks for your reply, i flashed everything a couple times. I guess is have the right rom. i do worry cause i tried so many things. Thinking about sending in my phone to HTC today..

what exactly are you trying to flash, link please.
i tried so many things is don't know exaclty the links. I tried different custom recovery. CWM and TWRP. Since i don't have an OS any more i tried to install de M7xxx.zip
Is the error still unable to mount sdcard? If so, follow post # 3 in my Canadian stock link.. You may need to use a recovery closer to your HBOOT version.

I can't use rumrunner, because I don't have usb debugging enabled (which it says it requires).
The two roms i tried installing with TWRP are:
4.4 Nandroid - mega.co.nREMOVETHISz/#!TMlgWLDJ!ZfFlcx...4grwOLi-Ied3Tg
10.2 Cyanogen Mod - download.cyanogenmod.oREMOVETHISrg/get/jenkins/49872/cm-10.2.0-m7ul.zip
OK, So I tried flashing in TWRP 2.6.3.4 to flash the latest version of ViperOne. When that didn't work, it asked me to update to 2.6.3.3, which I did, not thinking at all that it wasn't for my device, and that seems to have royally messed up my phone.
I can't get data on the few ROMs that I can get to work (I managed to have a backup from about a month ago of ViperOne on my phone that I got to actually load up.) When it does work, it restarts itself about once a minute, it'll boot up, I'll be able to mess around with it for about a minute, and then it will reset, all the while not having data either (Mobile Network just says "Disconnected" under it.)
I have no idea what is wrong, and no idea how to fix this! I fear I may have a really expensive paper weight.... Any ideas how to fix this? I would be extremely happy if I could fix this problem.

I'm S-ON, and bootloader is unlocked I assume, as if I remember correctly I unlocked it when originally rooting my phone.
Edit: The part that I think may have caused all of this headache in the first place. When trying to install ViperOne 5.0.0 through 2.6.3.4, it suggested that I install TWRP 2.6.3.3, which isn't for the Sprint HTC One, without thinking I just went ahead and installed it. I'm not sure how big of a deal that could cause, as it just wouldn't boot to recovery, but maybe that broke something internally that needs to be fixed.

Small back story. Mom's phone. Cracked screen along time ago but doesn't have insurance. Then while installing OTA Update, phone got stuck at boot logo. Obviously can't do warranty with cracked screen so I decided to give it a try. Tried a factory reset and still stuck on boot logo.
Here's what Ive tried. I unlocked the bootloader. installed custom recovery. CWM and TWRP both tried with everything. I did a complete wipe through custom recovery, then tried to start fresh. I'm on a mac with parallels for windows 7. Couldn't get adb to work all the time so I've been using an OTG cable for installs. I've tried RUU.exe, ruu.zip. I've also tried custom rom's. I've even tried installing custom rom and then flashing the boot.img in fastboot. I've spent countless hours trying to get this thing to boot anything but to no avail. Ok so I ran the ruu.exe from the link after I relocked it and it appeared to go through perfect. No error messages.
As the phone rebooted, it went right back to the htc splash screen and wont go anywhere from there, so once again, no boot.
I don't know if it makes a difference but I also have an HTC One M7 and my boot logo includes the HTC logo with "quietly brilliant" underneath, whereas the phone I'm working on doesn't have show quietly brilliant.
No worries, as hard as I have tried, you can't brick these things, it may seem hopeless, but there is always a way back. Flash a downgrade Hboot to like 1.44. Flash stock recovery. Find the T-Mobile zip that's in the forums. Flash. Should work.

Just another thought, wonder if its a bootloader issue cause of the ota failure, although I thought 1.55 was OK for 4.3
Try this
fastboot erase cache
install ruu again (the one downloaded from htc)
try a reboot, if it doesn't work lets try twrp recovery
unlock bootloader again
flash TWRP 2.6.3.4 recovery http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7ul
fastboot erase cache
Try a reboot at this point, if it hangs again try the arhd rom below

Decrypted RUU need s-off to be flashed. That is why this one failed to install. With S-ON you need a signed ruu.exe or .zip and must be flashed in ruu mode with a locked/relocked bootloader.
Also ARHD from android 4.4 and up require TWRP 2.6.3.3 to be flashed, not sure if it will flash properly with CWM but ARHD thread specify to use TWRP 2.6.3.3 only. Did you cleared cache after flashing each rom and recovery?

You are right here. You must be locked/relocked to flash a ruu with s-on. Also remember that you need S-OFF to flash a decrypted RUU

Flashing stock recovery before flashing the ruu is not required. The stock recovery is flashed during the process. With S-ON the ruu will flash if all these conditions are present:
Bootloader must be locked/relocked
ruu must be signed with htc private key (not decrypted)
CID must match the ruu
MID must match the ruu
With S-OFF:
Bootloader can be locked/relocked/unlocked
ruu doesn't need to be signed
cid and mid must match

If you didn't get any error message then the ruu should have flashed correctly. How much time did you waited on the ''htc splash screen'' ? First reboot after flashing a ruu can take up to 10 min to boot past the splash screen...

You bootloader was relocked at that point, so you can't flash recovery!
Please post an updated ''fastboot getvar all'' and your bootloader status again. You should try to flash the ruu again, erase cache then boot the phone and wait at least 10-15 mins to see if it boots.
Btw sry for the very long post...
So my M7 started heating up, chewing battery. Everything was fine with the first L update, but after the second one, something went wrong.
Now, I don't really want to do a factory reset - if I don't have to. And to be honest, it never helped with these random battery/cpu hogs in Android.
So!
- Could anyone link me the latest KitKat RUU? OR whatever I have to flash/install?
- The warranty is now gone for the phone, so I also want to root. How should I root? Via HTCDev? Sunshine?
If I can install KitKat somehow without losing files, I would just Sunshine - would save me tons of work (restore).
Thanks!
Ps.: I am not lazy, and I really tried to find the answers - but compared to how easy to flash an LG or Samsung, HTC looks like a spacecraft.
Seriously, while the two other have simple firmware files, and a simple app to flash, HTC got RUU, different unlocks, different firmwares, etc.
* I also thought about switching it to GPE, but honestly, 5.1 is not any better.
And it's the last update for the M7... it's a dead end anyhow.
KitKat will serve this phone perfectly fine for +1-2 years.

Impossible to tell without knowing your phone info. Post the output of "fastboot getvar all" remove imei and sn before posting.
- The warranty is now gone for the phone, so I also want to root. How should I root? Via HTCDev? Sunshine?

If your goal is to return to kitkat then
1- return to kitkat, how exactly will be determined after you have posted your "fastboot getvar all"
2- root the phone (unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery, flash latest supersu.zip)
---------- Post added at 12:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:18 PM ----------
If I can install Kitat somehow without losing files

RUU will wipe everything
Flashing a rom requires an unlocked bootloader, unlocking the bootloader wipes everything.
So you will lose your files, backup first.
Sorry for the noob question, command issued while in normal mode through ADB?
Or in fastboot through ADB?

fastboot commands are always/can only be issued when the phone is booted in bootloader mode with "fastboot usb" red caption showing.
adb commands are/can only be used when booted in the OS with usb debug turned on or from a custom recovery no matter if usb debug is turned on or off.

I want the latest 4.4 FW/ROM, preferably stock.
(But if that Revolution rom works fine, I am also fine with that one.)
--------------------------------
UPDATE:
Ok, so I thought I will try things by myself... it cannot be that hard.
I was wrong.
I am now more confused than ever.

Since that your phone is s-on you can not use a RUU to downgrade, you will have to unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery and finally flash a 4.4 rom. You'll will not be able to downgrade the firmware with S-ON, you can only change your rom.
to unlock the bootloader go at www.htcdev.com/bootloader and follow the instructions
once done flash a custom recovery, preferably TWRP 2.8.6.0:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.6.0-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
boot in recovery and transfer the rom zip file you want to flash to your phone storage.
in twrp select "install" and flash your rom.

Could you link me a 4.4 ROM, please?
Preferably Stock, HTC Sense one.
I checked the pinned thread, but every file is 404 (missing) by now, since it's a very old thread/post.
Thank you!

Stock 4.4.2 rom, latest version before lollipop (6.09.401.12)

Thank you!
I have managed to unlock + root (that wasn't really so hard, using Sunshine would have been harder). Will try to stay on L now, see if the reset helped with the battery drain. If not, it's time for Kitkat!
