I'm having trouble with the play store and chrome and other google apps periodically getting connection time outs while on my mobile network. It is a strange problem because my other apps like games and HTC internet and anything that isn't a google app can connect to the internet and work just fine.
I have tried clearing the cache of the play store and affected apps like chrome, but it doesn't work. I also tried deleting the hosts.txt file in the root directory, but that didn't help either. The only thing I have found to work is to go into airplane mode and then come back out, but that is only a temporary fix until the error comes back again.
I have been searching around various forums for the past couple days and haven't been able to find anything helpful. I am currently on the viper 7.0.1 and haven't seen any mention of this problem in that thread.
Any helpful insight and advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Anyone?
I have the same issue and haven't found a solution yet. Happening on ARHD 82.0 with eX18, though it seems to be a problem on stock kernel as well. For me, i can't get google play store, snapchat, pushbullet...etc, things that rely on google play services, to work at all on mobile data and mobile data only. Wifi is fine, almost all other apps (twitter, facebook, chrome) work fine in any case. I have tried a full wipe with no improvement. Only thing that seems to fix it temporarily is to wipe dalvik cache.

Hi All,
I have a very strange problem. My browser is refusing to load pages... any pages. (i.e. www.google.com, xda-developers.com, etc.)
Nexus One (Google I/O One)
CyanogenMod-7.0.3-N1
I've tried the following:
Known working network connectivity via 3G.
Known working network connectivity via WiFi.
Cleared the cache for the Browser.
Cleared the data for the Browser.
Cold rebooted the device.
It's weird because I know I have network connectivity because other applications which depends on network connectivity (i.e. Google Market, Amazon App Store, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) works absolutely fine. And even weirder, applications which use WebViews works fine...
Not sure what else to do before I do a full-wipe and hard reset of my N1.
Anyone run into any similar issue? Everything else is running fine on the N1. Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Kermee
Is it the same with other browsers (ex: dolphin)? If not then maybe you could just use those browsers
Yeah. I tried Firefox and it works. It's only the Browser.
I ended up doing a full wipe and reinstall of CM7 and gapps and restored and now the browser is working again. Very strange...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks for the help.
Cheers,
Kermee
Hi, I wonder if anybody can help me. Up until the day before yesterday I was using whatsapp fine over wifi (where I am at the moment there is no mobile signal) on my O2 UK Z1 and then whatsapp lost all connection. Everything else on the phone was working fine but no whatsapp. Every message I sent would go to the clock, no information when people were last online and the faq etc. in the settings would not load because of lack of connection.
I uninstalled the app and then installed it again and all was fine, after sending a few messages the same error occurred again. I have now found that if I clear data in the app settings it will connect again, once I have reconfigured the app and restored from backup. I can only assume that there is some sort of buffer which I am clearing as I lose a few messages when I clear data (all since last backup).
Barring doing a delete of all backups and messages does anyone have any other idea. I have looked and the backup files are about 1.7mb so not massive and I have a fair bit of storage available onboard (>7gb).
I was talking to someone with a HTC phone who had suffered similar symptoms but I have googled and searched and can't find a solution.
Any help much appreciated.
Mark
2 weeks off work and no issues, as soon as I have returned the issue has reared it's head so looks like it's something to do with the wifi here. Everything else works fine and fast so I guess I'll just have to live with it

Try to factory reset or reinstall mobile data settings

A factory reset for a cheap Whazz, huge work buddy...lol... at last it's an idea but I will try reinstall mobile settings before that or uninstall and reinstall Whatsup.
I work in a very remote location, I have wifi (which is distributed from a satellite feed) out here and for my mobile phone that is the only connection option. When I am away from work whatsapp always works, both over wifi and cellular data. At work I keep my phone in aeroplane mode with wifi turned on to try and preserve some battery (there is no point in my phone constantly looking for a non existent cellular signal).
This morning I deleted all messages in whatsapp, uninstalled the app and re-installed/configured. Usually I get a failure within 24 hours of doing this so we'll see whether this rectifies the issue.
I know I'm not the only person out here that has had the issue so it is either a coincidence or something with the way the wifi is configured here. I just assumed that the wifi would either work or not but, I am not an expert.
Hello all
Since last month Google Play Services are crashing after rebooting device, installing/removing application or just randomly (up to 30 crashes per day).
I've wiped user data, flashed again CM7 but without success. I've searched for solution but nothing helped
Does anyone know fix for that?

The problem seems to be with Google Play Services. Everyone seems to get this error often now-a-days. But user Keylocker has provided us with a simple solution and it works. Just follow his instructions. Here is the link,
Google Play Service Fix
Hope I Helped
Hi
It seems that deleting google services also solves the problem.
Anyway thanks for your reply, ill try this when something bad will happen without google services installed.
Deleting Data of google services works for me
Hello,
My wife and I are both having similar issues with wifi after updating our phones to lillipop. We can connect to the wifi, but apps that require a login or apps that have an optional login are giving errors saying that there is no network (Network issues, no connection, etc.)
Apps that don't work with wifi: Bank apps, Amazon apps, Twitch, Feedly, Speedtest.net, etc.
Apps that do work on wifi: Chrome, YouTube, Drive, Mail apps, etc.
If we turn off the wifi, everything works fine. We both are running stock phones, I've got the HK M8, and she's got an older M7. There are times when a few of the apps will work for a few minutes, but then the issues come back. My wife's phone is also able to connect to our work wifi, when there, some of the apps that don't work at home will consistently work, but not all of them
We've both been told by HTC to do factory resets and to flash the latest stock RUU. The issue remains even after doing this. I don't really want to do the next step of sending in our phones for 7 to 10 days while they "repair" them.
I've tried everything I can think of. I've also factory reset our router and tried every wifi channel and/or security option, hoping that it is an issue with my wifi router.
Does anyone have any idea of what I can try before having to mail HTC my phone?
Thanks for any help.
Sounds exactly like the problem I had. Factory reseting the router took care of it for me though...

Hey there, i have been using an M8 for two months now and the problem that I have, which fits exactly the description of yours, is starting to annoying me. Every time I try to use these apps which need login I have to turn to mobile data to be able to do it. In my case, the issue that us affecting me the most, is with whatsapp, which even though I do can use, I cannot download media on wifi! (Neither pictures nor voice recordings).
It's a real pain in the neck to be doing this all the time, and I have two friends who also have m8s and are suffering from the same problems, so I guess it's something quite generic. Besides all the other android phones in my family work just fine with my router, so the problem is clearly mine. I think that HTC should have done something about it long time ago if it is such a common issue, considering that the price of the device is not cheap...
Anyway, my question is: have you been able to solve the problem? If you have, would you please take a min to share the solution? I would be deeply grateful!
Cheers and thanks in advance
I am using my HTC One M8 HK with lollipop update from the time they released and never had any problem with wifi. I use wifi wherever I go and no problem with anything. Try the following solutions:
1. Check the WiFi Router. Most of the times it is the problem with your router. Check if there is any restrictions or whitelist/blacklist of services.
2. You might be having some apps with whitelist/backlist running in the background. It could be your antivirus app, battery booster or Opera app, etc which does the wifi whitelist.
3. If you are using the sign-in wifi networks, make sure you signed in to the network using the browser window before opening the app.
4. If you are using the VPN (even in the wifi network) you won't be able to open the apps like Bank apps.
5. If the apps you installed are not supported in your country, you won't be able to access.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the apps. Sometimes, when you upgrade to different OS partitions are not aligned properly. Reinstall and check.
Good luck
I don't have any restrictions on apps using mobile data but for some reason, I have several apps like gmail and hangouts that won't sync unless on WiFi. Any way to figure out what is causing this? The YouTube app won't work on cell data, only on wifi... that's strange.
Thanks!
It's been happening for me too. I though it was just poor signal, but lately it's been worse.
I'll have 3 or 4 bars and can browse the internet just fine which is strange. I just tried clearing cache to see if that does anything.. I'll report back later
Sound Search is doing the same for me. Also, my phone keeps telling me I'm not signed in to Google when I'm on cell data.
Clearing the cache did not work, I tried deleting data from YouTube and other apps and that didn't work either. I really do not want to do a factory reset.
If you have Gasbuddy installed it might be that. Last week after taking an update for Gasbuddy anything that connected to my phone using it as a hotspot could not get internet access. Didn't make the connection at the time and factory reset my phone and hotspot started working correctly. Started reinstalling apps and when I got to Gasbuddy the hotspot quite again so I uninstalled Gasbuddy and everthing started working again.
That's strange. I don't have that app on my phone but I'll look to see what I recently installed and go from there. Good thinking there though.
Ended up doing a factory reset which worked.
