[Q] Will not conncect to Odin - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

ATT Galaxy s5 SM-G900A Kernel Version NG3 (July 22) Odin 3.09 Windows 7
Attempting to root. Downloaded and have Odin up. Downloaded and have the old ND3 kernel and new NG3 kernel. usb debugging enabled. Using a usb 2.0 cable too. I also have installed kies 3 and Samsung usb driver for mobile phones ver.1.5.45.0
Boot phone into download mode. Connect phone to pc and it does not show up in Odin. Just makes a raspy type connection sound when I plug it in. I tried taking out and reinstalling the battery while plugged in and Odin running but that didnt work either. I'm attempting to root via Odin because towelroot alone won't work since the phone is running the latest kernel with the security patch on it.
If I could at least conncect to Odin, then I could install old kernel, boot and run v3 towelroot and root the phone, then boot back into download mode and reinstall new NG3 kernel. BUT I CANT EVEN GET OFF THE GROUND HOUSTON AND CONNECT THE DANG PHONE TO ODIN!!!! Sorry for the all caps lock but my eyes are glazed over and my arse is kicked trying to get it to connect. Please help.
Thanks

Have you tried another USB cable and port? I just used the cable that came with the phone on a 3.0 port on my laptop. Didn't have to do anything special in order for odin to see my phone. I also used Odin 3.10 when I rooted which I downloaded from the same thread your probably using to root. The only other thing I can think of is maybe an Anti-virus or firewall program blocking something.
Once your able to get the ND3 kernel flashed, remember to install Safestrap before going back to the NG3 kernel. Safestrap, like towelroot, requires the ND3 kernel in order for it to work.

I am trying to do so from muniz_ir's thread. However I could not download 3.10 via laptop because it kept giving me a 405 error not found. That goes for the kernels listed on the same thread too. I was able to download 3.09 from another forum on my pc though. I also was able to download the kernels onto my phone and transfer them to my pc.
Yes I have tried the stock 3.0 cord and 2.0 cord and in both usb ports. Arghhhh

Yeah that's the same thread I used. I just went back to his thread and was able to download odin without any problems. Try this direct link.

I think that's because your running Odin from within the compressed file. Make sure you extract all files from the .rar or .zip before trying to run odin.

Thanks, but that is trying to open it up with it extracted to my desktop.

Never mind. Got 3.10 to open up. One of the documents wasn't getting selected to unzip. Now I'll try to see if odin 3.10 will connect to my phone. Crossing fingers...

DANG IT!!! Even Odin 3.10 doesn't recognize my phone. I've tried 3 different cables, the only two usb ports I have, EVERYTHING. But when the phone is in normal mode, minus Odin, my pc recognizes my phone just fine.

So when I'm attempting to connect the phone to Odin and it's not recognizing it when I look in device manager, I get this MS 80 driver not installed. However I do have the Samsung drivers installed. And when I try to update driver within that prompt it can't find it. Anybody else have this issue?

[Q] Download mode issue

So I'm trying to flash back to stock on my Captivate so I can put CM7 on it. I'm currently running the latest version of Cognition. The phone is recognized by my computer and adb when it is on, and the odin3 one-click downloader detects it, but as soon as I go into download mode my computer doesn't recognize the device and it doesn't show up on odin. I've tried rebooting the computer and getting to download mode multiple ways but nothing is working. Any ideas?
Are you unplugged, going into download mode, then plugging in the USB?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Tried that, still nothing
Plug usb into pc only, then load odin. After odin loads put the phone in dl mode THEN plug usb into phone. Odin should read it then. Its the only way it would work on my windows 7 64bit.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
Still nothing. I don't know what the deal is.
Perhaps trying a different USB port...I think the port needs to be directly wired to the motherboard.
You do not need to flash stock to flash cm7, you just need a kernel on your phone with a custom recovery so that you can flash the efs backup zip prior to flashing the cm7 initial kernel.
Are you using factory cord
have you tried multiple ports
Have you tried reinstalling drivers
Had odin worked for you before
True. But what if he wants to flash back to a 2.2 rom? He still needs dl mode
If I have helped press thanks.

He can't flash cm 7 without odin in either case
Using a non-factory cord, factory one is broken
tried every usb port on my laptop
can't figure out how to reinstall the drivers for the life of me
never used odin before
You sure the cord you are using is a data cord and not just a charging cord

Positive. I've been using it to send files between my computer and my phone. And my phone shows up on odin when its not in download mode.

[Q] Odin doesn't detect my Galaxy Mini

I recently decided to flash a custom ROM on my Galaxy Mini. So i downloaded Kies, Odin 4.38, tass.ops and Clockworkmod, installed Kies, closed it, launched Odin, set everything, booted the device in download mode and when i connected it to my Laptop Odin simply didn't detect it. No yellow box, no alert, absolutely nothing.
The device already had Android 2.3.6 preinstalled, i didn't even touch the OS.
I already looked everywhere, but found no solution by myself.
Help would really be appreciated
Try uninstalling the Samsung usb driver from control panel then reinstalling it.
Edit: or use another cable and port.

When u installed kies, did u sync with ur mobile? Cause when u sync, it installs all the neccessary drivers. Or you could try downloading the drivers manually. Be sure to kill KIES when using odin cause they are sworn enemies
You didn't mention whether you installed mobile drivers or not!!! Try installing drivers once again. Then things will go on correctly.

If Still can't, Something wrong with your computer, like virus Ramnit in odin.exe
you can Run odin but odin can't do anything to detect even you installed your usb driver.
Just open can't read port and scan usb port.
To solved the problem try another PC.
But don't copy odin or usb.exe
to PC you want use.
Just One you can copy firmwares file zip or tar.md5

Problen with Odin. First time root.

I've tried everything, I just can't get odin to recognize my phone. I use a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 and the odin version is Odin3 v3.07, although I have tried using an older version of odin.
My phone gets detected normally (when not in download mode), and even in download mode the computer does make the sound indicating that it is connected.
This time, I opened odin without putting my phone in download mode and it showed a blue box, indicating that it detected my device, however I think being in download mode is a necessity for rooting. Help me out!
Oh and if its important, I use windows 8, I don't have samsung kies installed, I have the stock USB cable and I have tried it out without another cable.
AH! The shame! My first post and there is a typo in the title! T-T
Hey,
Have you tried manually installing the drivers using this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038555
The Samsung USB drivers (which lets the computer properly recognise the phone) apparently don't play too nicely with Windows 8.
Try install that and see if Odin recognises your phone

just flash this in stock recovery you only need odin for custom recovery

GT-P1000 France Firmware

Hi,
I am looking for android 2.3.6 for gt-p1000 gingearbear I can install in recovery mode, because I can't connect my tablet on pc, the CyanogenMod doesn't allow me to connect the tablet to the pc, when I plugged into the pc it starts to load and the pc doesn't indicate to me that USB port has just been used,
thank you,
cordially GhostVai
You won't find a stock ROM that you can flash from custom recovery.
The reverse is also true, you can't find a custom ROM that you can flash from stock recovery.
Get stock ROM from samfirmware or use overcome GB stock safe v5 (follow my signature).
Put your ran in download mode, and use Odin to flash.
If Odin didn't detect your tab, try reinstall the Samsung USB driver.
All of this is included in the GB-stock-safe-v5 package.

Odin is meant to detect your tab in download mode.
Not while it boots into CM.
From off, hold volume down and power button.
Fire up odin without connecting tab to PC.
Once it is download mode, connect to PC.

thanks,I did that, but odin don't detect the tablet :/,i must change odin version?
I always use odin 1.7
Some uses 1.85.
I don't think it is the odin. It is your USB driver.
You should stop kies. Kill it. Prevent it from starting up. Or even uninstall it.
Remove the USB driver if you know how to.
Reinstall the usb driver again.
Use other machine that never had Samsung driver installed on it before.
You can try heimdall but it is a different software.
Lastly you can use Linux with heimdall, which always works for me.
