[Q] Downgrading firmware on Samsung GT-i8200N - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I tried to downgrade firmware on Samsung GT-i8200N from android 4.2.2 to 4.1. according to this turorial: Tutorial como downgradear samsung galaxy S3 Mini a android 4.1.1 S3 Mini GT-I8190/L/N on Youtube. There is no excuse for that, i know. But I know now, that i flashed a wrong rom.
My GT-I8200N now shows me just a window with the words "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again". If I try to connect it with PC via USB cable, Samsung Kies won't recognize my phone - It just keeps connecting and disconnecting. I changed the USB cabel but still nothing.
I took it to the service center, a technician tried 3 ROMs with no result. I don´t know what to do know, maybe someone can help me.
Thanks
I am sorry For My Bad English

You flashed I8190/N ROM I think. So download correct ROM for your phone via samfirmware.com, download Odin 3.09, go to download mode by pressing Vol down + Home + Power, Extract your downloaded ROM and flash it via odin as PDA/AP.

After pressing Vol down + Home + Power it still shows me "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again". Is that wrong? It is like frozen.

I read a thread about similar problem (it has 2 pages here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703239&page=2). According to that thread I should try to flash stock firmware (with Odin) on this website http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I8200N . Could you tell me please which one I should choose? I am from Czech Republic and there are not any versions forthis country only for Germany and etc. Does it matter if I flash stock firmware designated for another country?
After flashing stock firmware what I am supposed to do next? My mobile phone will be OK after that? Please help
Again sorry for my bad english

No, it doesn't matter. You can flash firmware for any country, only it must be for I8200N. If you sucessfully flash stock firmware and odin says Pass, everything will be OK and I only recommend to go to stock recovery and wipe data, but it's not necessary.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Original Firmware installing HELP!!!

Hi Guys,
I'm New to this Forum and new to an Android .
I have Samsung galaxy ace , I installed ICS ROM , but before that I didn't do a back-UP to my own firmware
So now i just want to get back into my original firmware , somewhere I read that I can do that Using KIES (original from samsung) , and ODIN .
So can you guys give me a way to get back to Gingerbread 2.3.X , please give me a video or tell me step - by - step how to get back into my Firmware .
Please ! :crying:
(and how to backup all my data , apps, messages, contacts)
Lol, newb
You need to download Odin Multidownloader v4.38
Then get the file "cooper v1.0.ops"
Now that you have downloaded both go to samfirmware and download a firmware for your galaxy ace ( download the latest one)
After it finishes downloadibg, extract the .md5 file and open odin.
Then put the .ops file you downloaded in the .OPS part and select " one package" and choose the .md5 file
Reboot your phone into downloading mode (power buton+ volume down+home button) and plug it to your computer wait till Odin recognises your phone and start flashing.
Make sure your phone is atleast 50% charged
After Odin says its done disconnect from computer and shutdown phone and load into recovery ( if you cant shutdown, simply remove battery) and wipe to factory settibgs and wipe cache. Reboot and you should official stock ROM.
This guide is ver simple and with not many details but there are many guides on the internet.
So please use the search bar before asking.

As you can see, it's a very easy procedure. Also, "downloading mode", as said by Tovagulet, is activated by turning the phone off, and power buton+ volume down+home button.
Good luck
Nice explanation

what have you tried to do to fix this already?
ICS Bad Idea!!!
I wouldnt recommned updating to ICS especially through kies i had my phone stuck at "firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again" for 2 days It was a disaster. So i came across a website called http://androidromupdate.com/2012/09...-firmware-upgrade-official-kiesota-stock-rom/
I then downloaded the the I927UCLH2 ICS 4.0.4 Original Stock ROM using ODIN... FOLLOW DIRECTIONS THROUGH THE SITE NOT KIES!! BUT THE ORIGINAL STOCK ROM!
***After you have successfully completed the stock rom with ODIN***
Get a rom from http://forum.jakar.co/android-hack/1345758298/ Choose the ROM called Bio360 its almost the same Replica of Gingerbread its Version 2.3.5
VERY IMPORTANT!! Make sure you put the ZIP FILE (ROM) in your INTERNAL STORAGE NOT THE EXTERNAL!!! (SD CARD SLOT) BIG MISTAKE!!
Go to google and type in "CWM captivate glide new" click the first link beggining with www.theandroidsoul.com........ FOLLOW DIRECTIONS THROUGH THE SITE!
After you have downloaded the Rom (ZIP FILE) and CWM put your phone into Recovery mode by powering off the device. hold power button and the volume down button until you see clockwork recovery, from here you are going to look for install from sd card and look for the zip file/Rom Bio360 and you should be set!
*******THE Bio360 Rom is also Rooted so there is no need to do an extra step************
*** I HOPE THSI HELPS ANY PROBLEMS FEEL FREE TO INBOX ME ANY QUESTIONS*** I WILL TRY MY BEST TO HELP......
Sorry guys wrong post this is for Samsung captivate glide! , my mistake..

This is for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Sprint SPH-L900) Is the website for the stock rom
rwilco12.com
stock rom: [ROM][ODIN][TAR]SPH-L900 MA7 (MA7 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Stock
Odin 3 v 1.85 (You Can Google and find it)
ok sweet so I have done this successfully. i really believe you should put this on ur first post so people dont have to do searching and can feel at ease.
1. Start ODIN 3v1.85
2. Enter Download Mode
a. Power the phone off.
b. Plug the usb cable into the computer (not the phone)
c. Hold both sides of the volume rocker down (vol up + vol down)
d. While holding those buttons down, insert the usb cable into your phone.
It may take a second or two for the screen to display with a warning. Press the Volume UP key to download a custom ROM.
3. In ODIN, click PDA and select the PDA.tar file you extracted
4. DO NOT check re-partition, Flash Lock, Phone EFS Clear, Phone bootloader update
5. CHECK Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time
6. Click Start
At the end of the process ODIN's first block will show up as YELLOW with the words PASS and your phone will reboot.
Unplug USB from your phone after first boot.
It worked for me perfectly you don't have to F.Reset
Perhaps you should try the Note 2 forums for a more informative response?
I have the same problem with my tmobile galaxy s ii, T989
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again
and whenever I start installing a stock room using Odin 1.85 it force close and the phone stays in the same page saying
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again
Please help!
Tried everything I know and still not working
I tried two computers and everytime I start odin it forces stop
The screen is still in Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again
and I guess this is the download mode because I restarted it with volume up and down and pluged the usb and it turns to this screen
I downloaded odin again to make sure it runs ok and also tried it in my wifes phone and it runs with no problem
It is one of two cases, ether the phone is completely dead or the files I am using to be installed are not the correct ones
I tried the files on this post:

I have this problem before and i managed to use ODIN3 v1.83 (can use Odin3 v3.07) to detect my phone and flash a stock rom onto the device. I followed the advice given on this excellent thread by Supermini.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071970
As mentioned on his thread make sure you have the latest stock firmware from the sammobile site or by using Check Fus Downloader as per the guide in Rafael thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551156, a working samsung USB driver to detect your mobile on your PC and a copy of ODIN3 v1.83 (or v1.84, v1.87, v3.07 run ODIN in administrator mode if using in windows). Ultimately if this this fails you could always try a USB jig which can be purchased from ebay, etc. to get the phone into download mode.
Good luck and if this helps make sure you send a thank you to Supermini.

So . . . last thing to rescue your phone is buy on e-bay or in other place JIG if it isn't help you then try in phone service and say you tried install new ROM with Kies and your phone is brick (maybe it'll work).
Say to Service Centre Representatives that you kept your at charging last night
And when you woke up
It was not booting up
Pretend as if you dunno anything about root or ROM
They fixed my bricked phone
I am not sure if I am breaking any forum rule by telling this
Hey bro sorry for the late reply also, please before you do anything else try following my instructions.
1) download Odin v3.07
2) source the stock firmware you want to flash from sammobile.
3) make sure you have the Samsung mobile driver.
4) open and run Odin as administrator and load the single file in the PDA and highlight the tick box.
5) shut the phone down and take out your Sim card.
6) put the mobile into download mode as normal (press both up/down vol keys +power)
7) connect the phone to the PC and check in Odin to make sure its com port is detected.
8) then flash through Odin as normal.
I understand what your saying about no download screen appearing, I have found through experience that custom kernels can cause no download screen to appear. Normally with stock kernel this is not a problem but with custom kernels sometimes all you get is a black screen. Ignore this and just make sure that Odin is detecting the phone and try to flash, chances are it will flash the stock ROM and kernel. If you get the setup connection error in Odin and the fail 0\1 just try another USB port on your PC and keep persevering.
Please keep us updated so we can help you if you need it.

Why will it be hardbricked if the custom roms are based on s5830i stock roms?
But it is probable that we did I not flash the rom properly as per procedure..so is there a chance that it be bricked? Else the rom may have some problem... just telling the probability

[Q]What should I do? (Bricked Phone)

Hello, this is my first post, but no one cares. Right?
I have a little story... Today I tried to Upgrade from CM 10.1 to CM 10.2 but I had a little problem. Because I wanted to have a fresh instalation I first tried to flash with ODIN 3.0.4 official 2.3.6. In the middle of instalation... I had a power outage for 5 seconds. Now my problem is:
1. It can't enter Recovery;
2. It can't enter Download Mode;
3. It can't boot System.
When i plug the usb cable, it shows me this message: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again. ", but that's a little strange because I don't even have Kies installed on PC. This is the only scree I can see.
I don't know how, but somehow I entered Download Mode for 5-10 seconds, but my PC doesn't recognize my phone. After that the phone just shuted down.
I already browse all topics about soft brick, but nothing helped me...
Before take my phone to a service, what are my other choices?

I can't enter Download Mode and I haven't KIES installed.
Since you had a power outbreak during Odin flashing, it might not fully flash the bootloader (boot.img file), or the fat.bin file, both of them are essential for proper phone operation.
Install Kies, and try the recovery mode in it, see if it works.
Also, try to charge your battery, maybe this will help somehow.
If nothing works, service is your only option, as you cannot manually repair a partially flashed boot.img or fat.bin.
boot.img is not bootloader,
Boot.img is kernel

Well, I installed Kies.
I can't use "Emergency firmware recovery" because my PC doesn't recognize my phone.
I can't use "Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation". When I enter the details about my phone I get "'GT-S6500D' does not support initializing.".
I don't think I have other option in Kies...
Another problem:
My phone is absolutely unresponsive.
Maybe because of battery.
I can't charge it. I have a friend with S6500D...
I will try with he's battery.
Maybe I could try some tricks to enter in Download Mode. (God, please help me!!)

Sorry but your phone is hard bricked so you can't fix your phone yourself. You have to send it to samsung to fix it.The hard brick was caused by failed bootloader update. But if you have power surges i recommend you to flash your phone from a laptop.

Please ignore the link to stock firmware without bootloader because i did not know your phone was galaxy mini 2 because sometimes mini 2 questions are posted in mini 1.And i have both mini and mini 2.
If boot.img is not the bootloader (it's the kernel, I'm sorry for telling you wrong before), then why the Download Mode does not work?

It doesn't matter... I saw it was for Mini... Anyway download mode still not working so don't worry.
Thanks for the idea of stock firmwares without bootloader... maybe i could edit stock firmwares for my phone.
You can edit stock rom without the risk of hardbrick.just upack your stock rom then delete bootloader then download a software to create tar do not use tar editor because just deleting the bootloader doesn't mean odin will load it maybe because of md5.So did you send your phone to samsung.

Well... I sent my phone to a service but there they could only fix download mode. LOL. They tried to install firmware update, but the phone was stuck in bootloop. From there, I fixed by myself.
I will ask them how did they fix it.

Help...

Hello everyone. I have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy s Plus. I installed Slimkat ROM (Slim-4.4.2.beta.1.9-UNOFICCIAL-201312224-0939) with Kernel (3.4.75-cyanogenmod-g4d54161) and now im stuck with these.I want to remove them and go back to stock, but i cant connect it trough USB or install any CWM. The only connection i can make is with bluetooth. I really dont know what else to do (newb in android). Please help. Thanks.
Download a samsung i9001 firmware from sammobile.com and flash that with odin. You have to put your phone in download mode with volume down + home + power. The other instructions should be on the same page as the firmware download.
