Facebook messenger has been causing miscellaneous battery drain for me. If anyone can confirm we might add that app to the list.
Has Google fit been released or not?

I can't confirm whether it is for me, but I have a lot miscellaneous battery drain, and I use Facebook Messenger a lot.
What's the "modified boot.img" it's still android 5.0 but what's modified about it?
Maybe you could also add how to get exchange working on Lollipop:
If you want to enable exchange you must install the following apk and then install the email app from the play store. Exchange/corporate will then show up and can sync properly

Hi, I have one question about Google and Google+. How to remove the files in our custom rom before flashing the rom? Ya, we can delete it using root explorer but I love to know which apk/files contain the twos apks. Thank's.
Google+ isn't necessarily an apk in the gapps package so google+ won't be there in the custom ROMs and I'm not sure if Google Now is a thing that can be removed as it is an exclusive feature of Android 4.1+ . Not sure though. :|

afair Google Now gets active only after you log in to your Google account from Google Search, logging get out brings the Search back

I guess it all depends on the ROM - I have two different devices, on one the Search is a system app (system/app/Velvet.apk), on other it was installed via Play market (data/app/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.apk).
Generally if the apk resides in zip file, it can be removed before flashing (I usually clean ROMs from all apps I don't need on my PC using WinRar), the only problem could be finding name of the apk file to remove.
Yes you're right, the name of the app is where the problem resides as I did check the frameworks folder of the ROM. It's ROM specific isn't it, and tampering with an app like google search can surely cause some unforeseen errors too. I don't see any reason why google search has become such an undesirable app for the poster!
Not sure how it works for stock-based ROMs, on my N7000 I have Slimbean, which comes without Search - it can be installed from the Market separately if someone needs it
Sent from my GT-N5100 using xda premium
Slimbean has gapps of its own, customised for the ROM which are available on their site. The gapps on goo.im which are prescribed by some other ROMs come with the feature of google-search.

in this case it should be enough to remove "QuickSearchBox.apk" from the zip file before flashing
This removes Google search altogether or just the search box on the home screens which cannot be gotten away from the settings options in certain ROMs?

Not sure, the search box may be a separate widget, you could check with Root App Delete (enables/disables system apps)

From what info they have given, the new 10.5.1.A.0283 doesnt seem to address this particular issue.
However, we already know Xposed framework + wakelock terminator can make this battery drain issue go away.

It was the guys with Nexus found the solution, I forgot who was the originator, but it is somewhere here in XDA.
But yes, it works on 4.3. In fact you can do more in 4.3 than 4.4, due to interfaces such as app_ops and battery_stats were hidden to "protect user data".
Those stories have already been discussed here in XDA, so I guess I should stop here.
If it is the issue of google play service drain more battery than Andriod OS when idle, which kept your device "awake" while screen is off.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2919373&stc=1&d=1409491302
xposed framework can be downloaded here:
http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
wakelock terminator is in google play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.andro.wlt&hl=en
settings:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2919305&stc=1&d=1409485715
Other wakelocks can be disabled by "per app hacking", which is an optional module found in the xposed framework.
You may also want to disable "Location Reporting" and "Location History" in
Settings -> Location -> Google location settings
If you want to read more, you can search "NlpWakeLock", don't quote me, i just post what I gathered from the internet.

Use PCC or SUS. take backup
THIS IS FOR ANDROID 6.0+ ONLY!!!
This is mod I use on my LG V10.
Package was originally created as an add-on for Eliminater74's Rom.
I just ported it over as a flashable zip for my use but I figured I'd share.
Put zip on your external sd card and flash from twrp.
You will get a few "BlackBerry services not working " in the beginning but they will soon go away after some usage. These apps were on the BlackBerry Priv and are pretty useful especially the Hub. If there are some apps you don't like, just uninstall or freeze with titanium backup.
There is a launcher, contacts, calendar, bbhub, password keeper..... just a bunch of stuff.
Enjoy

Yes, installed the Blackberry Manager by Colbalt and it lets you install all the apps.
I prefer however downloading the folders from Colbalt (just check one of the previous posts on the thread) and install the apps I like (blackberry hub, calendar and keyboard) -the rest are just average (contacts on MM is way better than that of BB)

I have seen a couple of Nougat roms out there which have App Ops built inside their Nougat custom ROM (recently the Nitrogen OS N has it). My question is is there any way to get it for Stock ROM as well? I really like this app and would love to use it on my stock ROM. If somebody has an APK for it for Nougat and can provide the link that would be great.

It's not just an apk it has to built into the whole system framework. Your not getting it on stock. But you can do similar with the stock optimizing and unoptimizing we call it Doze. Go into battery and then click the menu that's the best your getting on stock!

I'm still running mm for that exact reason (waiting for my fav services to be supported) but I'll go hit up the dev and shoot him a donation if you will...and anyone else reading this. Hopefully, he or someone is willing to work on it. I mean, Android's new permission system is hideous and and app ops is a must (to me) to be able to block certain permissions without causing apps to refuse to run because of it.

Sorry if this is a stupid question- but what is the point of it? Can't you manage permissions under Settings -> Apps -> *select desired app* -> Permissions? Or does this give you more control?

since mm, android's built in permissions model will cause app to refuse to run when not granted the permissions asked. With AppOps, you can grant the system level permission while denying via AppOps and the app will run while receiving empty data for the permission in question. There are a few other quirks too such as contacts and account access permissions being bundled under one switch which is some total bovine excrement if you ask me.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for bricked devices or other issues.
For all of you who likes clean ROM and hate duplication between system and user apps folders this tool will help. This will remove all defaults AOSP apps except launcher and keyboard. I suggest after removing to install pico version of gapps or all of this will not make much sense. Also boot animation will be gone, trim it to the bone
For everything else you may need use Play Store. This way upgrading existing apps will not make any duplicates.
Please don't hesitate to post if you like to see some more apps to be included in this remover.

No problems experienced after booting into ROM and getting everything setup to taste. This is now a go-to/must have flash for me. Thanks!
