I realised it yesterday that there is a little gap b/w camera lens and it's frame
Can any one confirm if there is a gap b/w camera lens and it's frame for every one or is it just for me
Yes, there is a small gap

So when I was taking a picture with my front facing camera on my one it looks to be in some kind of fun house mirror mode... I was looking for a setting with it but I can not seem to find it... Basically when taking a portrait with the front camera if i move my face up or down it has a bug eye/ fun house mirror effect... Am i missing this setting??
Nope mine is also the same, if I'm taking a picture with the front camera it comes out long or strectched out usually at the top. I think it's due to the wide angle lense in the front facing camera.

I am not aware of anyone running into this issue before. If you set it on a rough surface or a surface with granules of sand, then that could definitely be the culprit. As far as replacing the lens goes, there is currently no way to get a hold of a replacement lens as far as I know.
If you mean the inside phone part then you'll have to replace the entire camera part. If you mean just the part that you can touch with your finger then you'll need to replace the back glass.
I'm having the same issue, there are some spots on top of the lenses on my phone that won't go away and *all* my photos are have the white color over exposed plus focusing is never sharp enough like other phones, I bought the phone the way it is now and I'm going to replace the back glass to see if it helps.
Alright, I was an idiot and managed to crack my glass camera lens cover. I purchased this : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RKFAZ5I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and did the replacement, but my pictures appear sort of "hazy" or "foggy" for lack of a better term. I can still get it to focus really well, but the pictures don't pop like they used to.
The only thing I did while replacing that could have caused problems was using compressed air while the old cover was off to ensure none of the shattered glass was left in the actual camera lens mechanism. I made sure to hold the can at an angle so that none of the liquid came out, but i did notice the lens mechanism moving around (almost like a hockey puck) as the air interacted with it. I assumed this sort of free floating lens design had something to do with the optical image stabilization, so it didn't seem like a big deal. I put the new cover on with clean hands and thought everything was fine until I started taking pictures again.
Has anyone replaced the camera lens cover and experienced a similar issue? I've ordered another one to take another shot at it, and I'm actually going to take some test pictures while the cover is removed just to see if I did actually damage the lens itself...
I have the jump protection, but would rather fix it myself than pay 175 for a refurb that I'm going to replace in 4 months anyways.
Why not replace the whole back camera?
I dont know how easy is to remove the lens cover but check if pictures taken without cover are foggy or not. If foggy then camera lens is dirty, if sharp - camera lens cover is a problem.

My guess is it got moisture behind the lense, or the lense was dirty.
When they create that hardware it is sealed in 0% humidity. If it was even a rainy day when you installed the lense, it could have caused it to fog up.

What I did was pull mine back and clean it with some alcohol and a q-tip
Is there a part number for that?

Thanks, might give that a shot if it doesn't clear up with the next lens cover.
Did you peel the plastics on both sides of the lens cover? Also check if it's actually focusing. Maybe slap the phone and see if it refocuses. Afterall there are moving parts in there.
Is there a genuine saphire lens cover to buy anywhere? I to used the cheap replacement cover and my pictures are blurry and bad in bright light. My camera itself should be fine though.
Well broke the camera lens. It will be 175 to replace my phone, nice.
**** happens bro

I couldn't find any and I think it actually ended up scratching the camera lens.
how did that happen?
I had it in my hand and hit right in the corner of a rail on the stairs. Hit dead center on the lens. I was able to clean the glass out. Took a picture ok
Any idea where to by the lens
Soo I have had my Xperia Z3 Compact for 2 years now and yeah the camera wasn't the best but it just started to degrade and now it looks like sh*t literally,I have Carbon ROM 5.1 running which is Nougat and I thought if I flashed the Sony Camera Mod and Cyberian with it it would be better, and yes it did get better but I still cannot get good shots in moderately lit situations, only I can get a good shot is on a very sunny day,and the front camera isn't very good either, looks pixelated. And no,no dust entered the camera since the phone was dissasembled recently and cleaned from everything.
So my question is how can I make the camera usable since I am a camera heavy user since I use Snapchat almost all the time and I cannot live without the camera.
And as for the speaker it just seems to be quiet,I always take my bluetooth speaker since the speakers on the phone are very quiet and yes I removed that waterproofing thing from them and the speakers are new since I got the whole front panel changed.
Any suggestions will be taken for granted.
Clean the camera protective cover with toothpaste until you remove the blue anti reflective coating.
Small scratches on the coating will ruin the picture.

Front camera is quite bad, can't help your there.
In my experience the glue strip which holds the screen and back to the frame slowly lets go, so dust settles in.
If yours is clean, good, but not for long.
Replacement double sided tape is worse quality than the factory tape was.
Some repair services use two double sided tapes to compensate the flex and keep the screen in place.
Snapchat doesn't work well with sony.
I have used z1c, z3c and xc ... with all of them snapchat somehow ruins the picture / video quality.
Because it has to downsize 23 mpix sensor data and doesn't have time or processing power to do it correctly, so it uses previews :

Make picture with the phone camera app and then use that in snapchat.

Found some more about snapchat
https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/64xqv0/snapchat_recording_quality/
Snapchat is purposely bad on Android. When you open Snapchat:
both of your phones cameras turn on, the front and back.
both cameras STAY on, even if you are not using them. Even if you are just chatting, watching stories, etc. Ever notice how hot your phone gets and how fast your battery drains? Ta-da!
when you take a picture, it does NOT take a "picture", it is a screenshot of what is displayed on your screen.
Recording a video? It's just a screen record, not an actual video recording using the phones camera.
If you just click home instead of backing out or killing Snapchat, the cameras will continue to run in the background and your battery will go down super fast.
I have similar experience, phone get really warm when sending several snaps and battery depletes super fast.

I know how Snapchat functions and the way it functions is absolutely rubish.
Well my camera isn't like foggy,it is just pixelated. I just need this phone to hold for 6 more months and it can rest in peace.
Taking pictures through the stock camera isn't as bad because the camera app removes the noise anf the pixelation, but in Snapchat it just doesn't look good, and in the viewfinder in the camera app it is the worst.
