I can't, its shows it but is greyed out
I am facing the same issue.
No solution yet.
I have an xt1068 i use one sim only but i did swap it to sim slot 2 and works fine. I think your sim does not make proper contact or sim slot 2 is damaged
I had this issue, it was a hardware one...
This is how I solved, though it was just by luck... I might have ****ed my phone in the process...
1) Sim 1 worked, Sim 2 didn't work. Exchanging Sims didn't solve the issue.
2) If I kept Sim 2 pushed to the end of the slot and kept my nail to prevent the spring from pushing it back, the Sim2 was detected.
3) I removed the screws and opened the back cover, then poked the Sim lock mechanism, there are 2 contacts/locks, one on the right, one on the top... Closed the back cover, Sim 2 didn't work.
4) I tried to open the back cover again, but forgot to remove the Sims. I forced the back cover a little and unglued a bit the sim slot's board. also disconnected the top connector that goes from the sim slot's board to the mother board. I didn't realize of that at the moment.
5) closed and rebooted with the sim slot's board disconnected. No sims were working.
6) reopened, found the connector disconnected and plugged it again.
7) rebooted, both sims were working.
So I fixed it by a combination of:
poking the sim lock mechanism.
ungluing the sim's slot board.
disconnecting the sim's slot board / reboot / connecting it again/ reboot.

Help,
No matter what radio or rom i flash it wont read the sim card. I've tried a few different sims by different providers and none of them work. This problem started when.. It would only work on 1 network (T-Mobile) even though i had hard SPL unlocked it and flashed a custom rom and radio. I then tried the CID unlocker and when i read the CID it said TMOB001 so i changed it to 00000000 reset the phone and now it doesn't pickup any sim. If i changed the CID back to TMOB001 would it then start to only pickup the t mobile sim as id rather have a phone on t mobile than no phone.
I recently experienced the same problem. I corrected it by placing a small piece of folded paper between the sim and the cage that surrounds it. The thicker the paper the more pressure on the sim. My situation was odd because my wifes sim would work in it but neither mine nor sons would work. All are on Tmo. My problem occured after i had the sim out for a flash so my mind was convinced it was a bug in the rom but it wasnt.
hope it helps
You should check all 8 pins, that they are up waiting to be pushed down by the sim.
I had one that had dropped down, So I had to take the phone apart and remove the sim holder to solder it back in place.
The sim holder is a removable plug in item so you could order a new one if needed.
Worked, sneaky piece of paper behind the sim lid and it worked! Thankyou for the posts!!!
RECAP
If your Kaiser no longer recognizes the sim card try a piece of paper under the closing lid or the sim holder

umm your service is disconnected?????
no,its not reading the card slot at all
This may be a stupid question- is the SIM card in the proper way? When did this start? What changed? Did you drop the phone?

When I first bought my Tilt used, I had the same problem. I had to stick a tiny part of a post-it to the back of my SIM and shove it in there. It's like my SIM wasn't thick enough.
The best way - to try with another SIM (maybe your friends have a mobile-phone )
Sometimes the old SIMs don't want to work with modern devices....
well heres my 2 cents as i just fixed it, my issue at first i thought it was the sim slot (replaced...) then found out the ribbon was damaged a crack occured, after another week of waiting for a package (today) i replaced it and now its running fine
Same here
My Sim was no longer available.
Kaiser had "sim card is missing", but the sim was in there.
I disassebled it and found that the main flex cable was damaged.
Now I'm waiting for replacement.
So, When the phone shows up "sim missing" it's an flex cable matter not the sim card flex or the sim card unit.
same problem here
I'm having the same problem here. thought that it was the flex cable of the sim, but when I disassambled the Kaiser I found out that the main cable was slightly scrached from a corner, and the sim's cable was there pluged well... I'm trying to fix it..gonna post the result for "sim card failure"...
So, just after the first day I got my Xperia T, the SIM tray was broken. I noticed my device having random reboots, then telling me there's no SIM card inserted. It took me some time, but then I noticed that whenever I insert my SIM card and close the tray, it just pops right out again. First I thought that maybe my SIM card was the problem, since I'm using a Nano-SIM with an adapter, so I tried with a regular Micro-SIM instead, but that didn't work either.
Right now my device is in repair and as I can tell from the repair status, they replaced the whole mainboard, which hopefully solved the problem.
Is anyone else having issues like that?
Same here, I had to put several layers of adhesive tape over the microsim to fatten and then lock it into the tray. Nasty, but working.
Same for me, but with 2 layers of post-it, it works.
Bad cut simcard or not perfect adapter is problem. Them simple brake a tray. Then good ones doesn't work either.
Use proper SIM card from first time.
Had the same problem - is it possible to replace only sim tray or is necessary to replace the whole mainboard?
Not sure if I broke mine or not. Does the SIM CARD HOLDER have 3 or 4 gold pins on the top.
Keep getting "no sim installed" and I'm not sure if I broke off a PIN or it's another issue.
My SIM slot has 3 gold pins and the furthest one on the left looking at the back of the phone with the camera on top is empty.
Is this correct?
Thanks!
edit: I've tried cleaning the sim contacts and I tried the "paper trick" with no luck. Sim works fine in another device.
hey
I bought an used note 5 (n920PVPS2BPD1) from china and I am living in Egypt
in every call usually after 5 minutes it disconnect and pop up message appears "sim card removed" and I should restart
also it occurs when I am using mobile data.
my useless trials based on internet comments >
1.the mobile was already rooted so I flashed a new custom rom and the same occurs
2.no 4g forced when I was using a 4g sim (Vodafone)
3.used 3g SIM instead of 4g and auto 3g-2g applied
4.2g only sometimes
5.added simple plaster tape over the sim to hold it in the tray
I cant even sell the phone here because of this and any engineer here suggested to open the phone and change the whole sim tray. so before labeling it as a hardware issue would someone help me in this ?
ill be so grateful
Maybe forget about a 3 year old phone?
Just use small thin tape to fix the position of sim card on the sim card tray. That worked for me on my 3 years old note5
I'm tempted to also think it's to do with the sim tray. Last comment is interesting, or you could add several layers of tape to the sim to have more pressure with the contacts in the tray.
First thing I would do is try cleaning the contacts by inserting in and out 20 the sim 20 times. If nothing of the above work, then have someone to open the device and clean the sim tray contacts with alcohol, or change the tray if you're able to find a replacement.
