This isn't really related only to our phone but does anyone understand the whole 24 hour rule where your transaction is declined if you haven't opened the wallet app once in that period?
When you use wallet part of the process of paying is opening the app, so I don't get your question. Could you give an example?

You do not have to open the app to pay. You can do it when your screen is on and app is not in focus. If you try and run a transaction and you haven't "opened" the app in 24 hours, it declines with "Declined
There was an issue processing your transaction. For your security, you must bring your device online at least once every 24 hours."
No. I go to Whole Foods on weekends and use nfc tap to pay. I only use it once a week. Never been declined.
This is straight from Google. It is highly inconsistent hence me posting this. Their support also confirmed this lock is intended
When u use it, dont you have to enter ur pin, and thus open the app?
Yes but you don't have to open the app first
I dont either.
1) i unlock phone so its on homescreen
2) tap phone to terminal
3) enter pin
4) tap terminal again
5) signature and done
I do this every weekend, works every time. Never open wallet during the week. Dont know what to tell you.

I had this issue last week. I paid for six cab rides in Chicago with Google Wallet, and the next day, I started getting emails about the transaction being declined, must log in every 24 hours, etc. The confusing thing is that the transaction definitely did go through. I got a printed receipt from the driver and everything.
How much was your declined purchase for, if you don't mind my asking? The two "declined" cab ride charges were the most expensive ones. The four that went through were between $10 and $15, but the two that were declined were $40+.

I was one of those over-enthusiastic individuals that made several duplicate orders when their website kept crashing. It was actually the Nexus 10 that I ordered three times, but it looks like my Nexus 4 is going to be delayed as a result. I see other people have had theirs shipped already.
Anyway, I've cancelled the dups and email them back asking how it'll effect my delivery date. If anyone else hears anything about this, it'd be good to know.
I got it too but when I called yesterday the rep said unless you cancelled within the hour you would need to refuse delivery. I don't think it means its delayed.....
i recieved this email this morning. i phoned google who said everything is fine & it was standard procedure
I got this too but it was titled 'Action Requested' which lead me to believe I'd have to actually do something to continue with my order so I called Google. The only action needed is if you want to cancel it, otherwise orders will be processed within 24 hrs.
I got a reply. Looks like we're just going to have to wait.

I had the same yesterday, but received this email this morning. I don't expect a substantial delay, but I assume that these orders aren't going to be touched today, and processed tomorrow (after 24hr) in whatever state they are left in.
I'm glad I don't have to go through the rigmarole of picking out and rejecting two package, but still... delays. :crying:

LOL I got exactly the same email, ALSO from Reggie. this is AFTER I emailed them to say I do NOT want to cancel AND phoning them to tell them the same thing and that they can process the order and ship it.
This is so laughable, especially seeing as I had just as much 'fun' with the launch of the original Nexus 7's
For anyone in the same boat as me. As expected;
Hello ...,
Thank you for purchasing from the Google Play Store.
Because of the high influx of orders yesterday, the normal process time has been delayed 24-48 hours.

I want from Google something that will compensate me for the lack of information. I ordered on Tuesday at 8:43 and I have no email stating it shipped or it was back ordered. I don't want money or some free gift. I want a Company the size of google to state they are sorry and explain how mistakes like this happened. Then I want them to state what they are doing on the next product release to avoid this from happening again.

Agree. The lack of customer service, lack of information, and utter disregard for their customers during the process, is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE.
I didn't even get a confirmation email, no updates, no status changes, nothing. I got my order in at 11:35:06am EST.
If it wasn't for the play store account status I wouldn't even know I had an order in!

Apple did it for $30 bumpers + tax and shipping for something that really wasn't even an issue.
I think Google can do it... that is if they're not backordered :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
I am very disappointed, I just called google play for the first time to ask about my order, the CSR had nothing to say, I placed my order 10:56 am CST and I am in limbo. I asked for a supervisor and he could not even cancel my order or provide any information. I have been an amazon customer for years and I have never had an issue, their amazon prime 2 day shipping works flawlessly and their customer service is amazing. I can't believe that google has such poor customer service.

Let's all keep in mind that the bumpers probably cost $0.50 to make and about $3 or $4 to ship.
And I disagree, it was a big issue for me and anyone who ever had to use their phones where they only had 1 or 2 bars of service. But this isn't the time or place.
I don't know about a public apology but they did botch this royally. I'm not some kid who just can't wait till it gets here. But the miscommunication is extreme. My bumper, might I add that I ordered fifteen minutes later has already shipped. My phone, well it's still pending.
And the supervisor I spoke with is speaking at sixty words a minute assuming he knows my issue and he assumes its that I'm just ready to get it (didn't listen to me at all). The truth is, I waited to call, read all of the help info but the problem is it's been the 2 business days and still it has not shipped. Yet my four hundred dollars had been in holding since Tuesday.
At this point it's not possible for it to arrive in the time frame they quoted when I placed the order. For that, all entitlement aside they failed. So they can't cancel the order, nor tell me when it will even ship. Lol, all they say is " if you don't get tracking today call us back". The SAME thing they said yesterday when I called to confirm my order.
The goal of telephone customer service is one call resolution, not to tell someone to call back and start over tomorrow.

Yes I do feel entitled to a little bit of information when I purchase product from one of the largest companies in the world and 72 hours later they have no idea if my order has shipped, sitting in some warehouse or back ordered. I had a 390 dollar hold placed on my account and no info as to what is going on.
Please use one of the existing threads or, better yet, take up your issue with Google not XDA.

Oh yeaaahhhh sureeee, I can imagine that conversation right now.
ME: "uh, hi Google. You forgot to charge me for the Nexus 4 but you shipped it out to me anyways"
Google: "thanks, we must of missed it. Let me go ahead and charge your account $400"
ME: "thanks!"
Dude, it's just that the authorization timed out. They WILL charge you again for the package. I really doubt that they would give away a free N4 just because they failed to meet the November 15 shipping estimate.
I've also received a tracking number, and no charges are on my card. Is there anyway I can tell if there were pending charges on my credit card that were removed?

Not sure, but for me I had my account charged and the money taken out when I ordered on the 13th. Now that money has been returned and I can't see any history of google charging me or giving me the money back.
It's possible it could of timed out like the person said. But I could be mean and take the money out, then deny googles charges indefinitely to my bank.

You were never charged. It was an authorization HOLD. Your money was on hold (and thus unusable), but was never taken out of your account.
If Google does not take the money out within a certain amount of time (varies from bank to bank; my bank debit card is a couple of days, but my Amex credit card is a full week), that authorization hold expires. Money was not returned to your account because it was never removed from your account. This is perfectly normal, and all that it means is that your bank's authorization hold period is short.
Google will charge your account (and take your money out), probably a few days after shipment.

I just called them and told them some orders were not billed. They were grateful for the heads up and said they'd go through all the shipped orders and charge the ones they missed.
For people with long hold periods (or who didn't have to wait as long for shipping), the process will look like this:
1) Order placed.
2) Account authorized, and money is put on hold, unusable.
3) Order ships.
4) Account is charged, the money is sent out, and the transaction is converted from "hold" to "posted".
For people with hold periods shorter than the time it took to ship and charge, it will look like this:
1) Order placed.
2) Account authorized, and money is put on hold, unusable.
3) Hold expires, giving you the false ILLUSION that you are off the hook.
4) Order ships.
5) Account is charged, the money is sent out, and a new transaction appears, but as a completed, posted transaction, not as a pending hold.
Tried this once. Happily spent the money while thinking they are morons. Month later I had debt collectors on my door. Still paying the ****. Got many threatening letters for courts. So dont make this mistake.

I wonder what that means. IMEI blacklist for accessing Google Play? I'm imagining they won't be trying to blacklist it with TMO/ATT.
I'm assuming if somehow the charge didn't go through for some reason and it's enroute, it'll get "disabled" if you kill that card number before they potentially try to charge it again. Or if they try to charge you before it gets delivered and it fails, they'll have UPS send it back.
They refunded me 2x for my nexus 7 an after that deal pre-order i keep it.
So a month ago I ordered a nexus 4 8gb. The next day my friend decided he wanted to sell he's nexus 4 8gb. He said he will sell it to me for 300$ instead of 372$ from the play store. I call them and I explain to them that I will like to cancel my order. The lady tells me that my order has been processed and she can't cancel. She than tells me I have to wait until it comes and wen

I didn't make a big story and did what she said. I was charged the 372$. Tracked with UPS and when it was near my house, called UPS and said that I refuse the order and that they may send it back to the sender. Perfect they sent it back. And it arrived back to them the Friday, *02/15/2013 at*9:30. I emailed them to know when they will refund me.
They said : If your package is unopened, Google will issue a refund to the card originally charged within 2 weeks.
I'm OK with that no problem.
2 weeks pass. I call them starting to get annoyed.
Now they changed the 2 weeks to 14 businesses days :banghead:

I remind you that my nexus 4 didn't even make it to my door. Emailed them and got the same message pasted again. Called them and wanted to talk to a supervisor. They said that 14 working days is their policies blabla and that they can't do anything for me.
I was really annoyed and decided to wait the 14 work days. Which was last Friday. I was supposed to get my refund, or at least it should appear on my Google wallet account, but again nothing.

First thing is that I always call when I need a customer service instead of sending e-mails. I think you can call them again, and ask why tyou still
haven't get the refund because it's already been 28 days. Call with friendly attitude will help you a lot although I know you are angry and
frustrated. If I'm a customer service support, and I have a customer angry at me for no reason ( since I'm not the one who will issue you a
refund...), I will probably mess up your order again, and make you even more frustrated....This is just my thought.
Good Luck.

gotta do....
Yeah, keep calling if you have to. I did the same thing on an RMA and got too busy at work to follow up, but never got my refund after a couple of months. By then I decided I wanted to try the device again, had to call a few times but I got it resolved. Not the same thing as getting a refund though.

I had to RMA my nexus 10 like 5 times so i had like 5 charges on my card for 399$, until it was forwarded to a "specialist" then they took all the charges off....
After my fifth RMA they just refunded my nexus 10... after having one since launch date...
So if you want a refund just keep doing RMA but don't order a new device? just kidding just kidding don't do it, it will not work

I dunno, so far so good with their support for me. I'm in the middle of an RMA for a Nexus 4 because it won't read any SIM cards (hmm perhaps jamming my old nano sized cut up non-sanded SIM into it half way to see if it would work out of curiosity was not a good idea) and I've had to call once, and send a few emails and they've been quick and polite so far.
I work in customer service too and unfortunately things can slip through the cracks. It's sad but when it happens it's very hard to get it back out. Usually when a rep finally is able to resolve your issue after a lot of BS, they'll provide some sort of credit or bonus to make you happy for having to put up with it, because it really isn't your fault. especially if you make it clear you've been very frustrated and inconvenienced. In this case, their response of "we're switching to a new system" sounds plausible. Just keep following up with them, and ask for a supervisor each time you call so some nice heavy duty supervisor notes get left on your ticket as it crawls its way through the system.
That's why I never returned the faulty device back cause after getting RMA device the money that Google holds until I send my faulty device back got expired and my bank put that money back to my account and never sent the faulty one back. Screw up Google

How did it cost you 372 for the 8 GB? Outside US? And I know your pain- as soon as you get charged the order is almost impossible to cancel.

Exactly why I got mine from TMO(obviously have to live in the US to do so). I was able to get my N4 16Gb for less than $200, got lucky and was able to get it on release for TMO. That unit had terrible light bleeding and received my replacement within 2 days of calling it in.
Before anyone says anything about a contract I have been with TMO for over 10 years, I have 3 lines and all have unlimited data 5GB and I pay less than $190 a month after all fees and taxes. So doing an upgrade does not bother me, plus they always help me out when I want a new phone.

I'd be careful. I'd be scared of google randomly coming after me for another $300+ charge to get that money back. probly just when the cell bill is due too!

I'm not trying to be that guy but since you were bragging about price... You could get straight talk tmobile service with same unlimited service for 3 lines 135 a month. Or if you don't talk much use the 30 dollar tmobile prepaid plan. But I have no problem if you choose your route. Just saying.

You're not a mod. Shut the hell up.
To OP. I don't see anything out of the norm for a typical online retailer. You sound very impatient.
Hey guys, need some help here. I went to WinnDixie today, and purchased about $70 worth of groceries, and used tap to pay on Google Wallet. Everything checked out, store says approved, phone says unknown. Ok, well that usually happens on Wallet anyway at a grocery store. It tells you to check with the cashier. Cashier says good to go.
Hours later (6 hours), I get an email from Google Wallet saying that payment was declined. But here's the kicker, no one, not a single one of my credit cards, got charged, or even attempted at a charge. If WinnDixie says it was approved, where did the funds go?
I'm about to go into WinnDixie tomorrow and try to pay for my groceries by my debit card itself. But I can't get any answers from Google whatsoever, as to what even happened.

Maybe a glitch on teh Matrix, mate. But most importantly, congrats on the honesty of paying them what you owe :highfive::good:
I used to work in retail. I definitely want to make sure they are paid. I also don't want collections coming after me either.
For now I would advice not to use Tap to pay feature. I have been having a lot of issues with it(including being charged doubled for no reasons then having to ask my dad to get his money refunded)
