Hi, I'd like to find a 3d Case design for the Droid 4, mainly so I can modify it, it may save some time if I don't have to start from scratch. does any one know of one?
Have searched on Thingivers but no luck.
Thanks.

Hi Everyone,
I have a question that I need some help with, here is my situation:
I’ve had an HD2 for about a year which was running a Froyo with Sense ROM, and smashed it by accident. I now have a brand new insurance replacement Nexus One sitting on my desk.
What I really want is a Desire HD (pretty much what I was using earlier…) so I’m considering selling the N1 and picking one of those up (I like the extra screen size, and new ROM with cached maps, htcsense.com etc…). Does this sound like a good idea, or am I better off just keeping the N1 and hoping someone comes up with a hacked ROM to include these featues…? Is the N1 better than Desire HD in any way?
Cheers
One of the reasons (just one - there were many!) that I got rid of my Samsung Vibrant was how much the Nexus One seems to be holding onto it's value. Look out on Ebay - it's still selling for around $450 for a used one and $600+ for a new one. After having been out this long I don't know of any other phones that have held onto their value that long!
You can try Desire HD port, it exists.
If what you want is Desire HD - go and buy Desire HD. Nexus is developer phone, and there's no other current phone like it, if you want to mess with it a lot. But as a phone, if you're not interested in messing with it, I believe Desire HD will suit your needs better.
if you like to mod and generally f*ck with ur phone, keep N1
if your happy with stock rom and just play with themes and apps, i would say go Desire HD
i have been tempted by Desire HD, rather tempted, but i constantly mod my phone. so i just cant give up N1

This sounds idiotic idea, selling better phone and buying worser.
Look this is desire z overclocked to hyper fast 1.4mhz http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813749 .
Just install evil d's desire hd rom, the camera and hotspot are not working but that will surely be added in a future update

1. There's no such thing as "worser"
2. "overclocked to hyper fast 1.4MHZ" LMFAO
Hey all,
I was just thinking since my milestone is starting to get fairly old and beat up, would any of you have a phone with a hardware keyboard you might be looking at??
So far one phone that has caught my eye, might have to paper bag it, but its the Xperia Pro. Looks thicker then a brick, but hardware seems solid. Also read somewhere that sony will begin to unlock bootloaders, if I'm not mistaken it was here within xda... I've also been looking at the nokia N900, looks amazing but then id be parting with android which I don't really wish to at this current moment...
Any way what would you guys/gals have to say??

Hardware keyboard Android phones are slowly dying out.. There are rumors of the Droid 3, maybe it'll have an unlocked bootloader, like Motorola said they would do on future phones.

G3 if it's gonna be similiar to the G2 with better specs.

I'm also looking to move away from a HW KB, I rarely use mine on the droid.
I'm eyeing the SGS2, but it doesn't look like it will come to Verizon for a while!
Awsome thanks for the replies . I know the software keyboard are getting better but I really like the hardware keyboards, the other reason is that the screens won't be as huge wich translates to better battery life... well unless I'm mistaken...

m done with motorola .. nt coming back to it .. sony xperia arc or some htc dual core phone .. mayb even blackberry storm 3 .. or iphone 5 .. too many options for me
I'm also interested in the Xperia Pro. It's not out yet, but hopefully in a year's time (when I'll be looking for a new phone) the price of the Pro will be down enough for me to afford it (either new or used). Or maybe I'll be used to on-screen keyboards by then and can choose from more phones.
I've been wondering for a while if a netbook/smartbook would be a better way to do more 'serious' web browsing, etc than a mobile phone. If I got a reasonably portable netbook/smartbook/tablet I could get a simpler and cheaper mobile phone. The Asus Transformer is looking pretty good...
maybe i am also done with motorola- i say maybe because i love the industrial design of motorola and till now any other phone out dosent have that factor. Nexus 3 or whatever is next nexus is getting my attention unless it is by samsung again.
Any thoughts on what would be the best current replacement (Sprint or not-Sprint) for the Hero.
I'm specifically asking if anyone can suggest an up to date phone with similar physical dimensions to the Hero. I tried the Nexus S and did not like its size and plastic-y feel, and think the EVO (original not the 3D) was way to boxy and bulky. For me the Hero has the best shape (and thus feel in the hand) and size of any smart phone I've used so far. I'm wondering if there are any new phones out there with the same dimensions and look and feel.

You're not going to have much luck with that because lately devices are getting bigger screens. MDPI devices are dying out. For Sprint the closest may be the Optimus S.
Sent from my HTC Hero making C.R.E.A.M.
+1 for the Optimus S. My dad has it and loves it. Also, it's free right now.
If you want something faster, there's an new Samsung called the Conquer 4G, which has a 3.5 inch screen. Also the EVO Shift 4G is a little bigger, but still only has a 4 inch screen and a physical keyboard.
So a guy I know has this "busted" Motorola Droid, the original model, with an apparently shattered glass/digitizer that I'd need to replace (as I understand it the LCD is fine), and while I'm a huge fan of getting myself yet another HTC HD2 and working with it, since this is gonna be a complete freebee I figured I'll do some experiments with it.
Is the original Droid still useful for many people, since it came out well over 2 years ago? I am not expecting ICS on it (although I see a few people making claims they're working on it), and with the low end specs - compared to today's high end "pocket rockets" with dual cores and 3x the speed or more, I figure I'll end up using the Droid (after I get it functional again) as a PMP actually; a makeshift "Droid touch" of sorts (iPod touch pun) since I don't plan on using it as an actual cellphone anytime soon. Already have 2 phones with NET10 and I can't do anything to the Droid to flash it and make it compatible so... it's basically going to be a PMP for me.
I'm guessing if I can get Android 2.3 on it then I should be able to run all the apps that I've used with my HTC HD2 in the past running Gingerbread, shouldn't be any issues aside from them just running slower overall because of the Droid's far slower clock speed.
I'm sure overclocking is a potential but I need to do a lot more research to see what's possible there without causing damage to the device. Just because it's free doesn't mean I have intentions on destroying the damned thing.
Just wanted to ask if other people still have their Droid 1st gen and what they're using them for if anyone cares to say. Also, what kinds of cases, docks, accessories might you be using, especially with battery life too and any recommendations for something with more capacity/time available.
Thanks, and have fun, always...

If anyone has experience using both the Droid 4 and the Razr M, please speak up about how the two compare to each other.
I currently have a Razr M. And I like it a lot. It's plenty powerful and snappy for what I do on it. I don't necessarily not like anything about it, but before I stuck with my Razr M I was a BB junky, so the keyboard craze is kinda engraved in me, and I can feel it surfacing lately. I prefer physical keyboards.
I understand the minor spec differences between the two devices, and for the most part, pros and cons for each kinda swap places per the two. So I don't really need any spec break-downs per se. Mostly just interested in the performance of one versus the other. My main concern is battery life. I absolutely love the battery life I get from my M, and like I said, I understand the differences in their sizes, but how do they compare to each other?
I guess one way to put it would be, if I am happy with the M, minus the fact that I don't have a physical keyboard for it, will I be happy with the Droid 4?
Apologies if I overlooked something that already exists in the forums that falls along these lines.
Well, over 30 views and no one has any input. I guess there's only one way to find out for sure then!
I'll be getting a RAZR m in like 2 days... I'll let you know...
After a few hours of playing with... I want my d4 back...
Battery life seems better on the d4...the M is faster at normal tasks. M doesnt have the stock browser just chrome... M takes better pictures... display is better on the M.... and the 8gb on the M with no captivate keys or HDMI output n web top is what really makes me miss my d4 ... all and all I prefer the d4
I am a little bias, i had a M for a good month love the battery life and the speed and display, camera was also good. But i missed my keyboard and the weight of my 4, it felt more solid. What makes me bias is my M would lockup and random reboots where i would have to either reset or just couldn't put it on the charger without watching it. So i went back to the 4, but, I do plan on looking to get another M or something else.

board wise there is no difference. Software wise... a couple of libs and drivers and it will work great on the D4.
Basically the same phone with and without a keyboard
