Question, does the ATT branded Moto X allow access to service mode?
I can access it on S4 ATT. Just curious if anyone knows.
You talking about the #*#*4646*#*# or whatever it is code?
Doesn't work on mine.
There are a few.
*#9090#
Worked on the gs4. But could be different on motox

Ok... So you're thinking about buying an unlocked phone that was originally a Verizon phone but was used on T-Mobile that you want to use on AT&T? That is a bit convoluted, each vendor uses different bits of spectrum and a Verizon phone isn't a pure GSM phone such as AT&T or T-Mobile might have, I would be cautious, why not just get an unlocked AT&T device?
That being said, if it can be used on a GSM network like T-Mobile it should work on AT&T, the problem being that - as I said - each carrier uses different bits of the spectrum.
Save yourself the potential hassle and buy the proper AT&T model.
Yeah i am being cautious I'm passing on it thanks for the responses

TBH, you'd be better off buying a HTC One ATT/T-Mo variant since (I think, but haven't looked up) all frequencies work on it.
Anyways, you should be able to just insert the SIM and you should be good to go. Make sure you go into your Mobile Network settings, and change the mode to GSM. Alternatively you could go into testing (*#*#4636#*#*) and change the mode to something like WCDMA preferred.
I have a unlocked moto x from att to use on Tmobile I have tried a bunch of apns none seem to work the Sim picks up my phone number but I don't get any service I really need help as I haven't had service for three days and don't know what texts/calls I'm missing.

Well, first, I would suspect a sim problem. You don't even need an APN for calls and text to work - they work immediately if your sim is valid, recognized, and activated.
APNs are only required to get data working.
You should check that your sim is inserted correctly and look in settings > about phone > status. Make sure your sim ID is listed under ICCID. If it isn't, your sim isn't being recognized. Aside from that, contact your carrier and make sure your account is active and the appropriate sim is on your account.
EDIT: Also, remember that all AT&T Moto X variants are SIM-LOCKED. You cannot use a non-AT&T sim in them without unlocking them first!
If you haven't unlocked the phone, it will never work on T-Mobile. You can purchase an unlock code from one of the many online gsm-unlock code sellers.
I don't get that option

All AT&T Moto X's should have ICCID listed in Settings > About Phone > Status
It's near the bottom.
Anyways, did you read the bottom edit to my post? Your problem is almost definitely that your phone is SIM-LOCKED to AT&T. All AT&T Moto X's come sim-locked. You can't use them on another carrier until you unlock them.....
I was told by a retail store it was unlocked

Sorry bud, If you are sure your phone is unlocked, and you don't get prompted for an unlock code in the UICC unlock menu, all I can suggest is to contact your carrier. I don't have any more ideas for you. Maybe another member will.

I've done a fair amount of searching, and come up empty so I'm hoping you guys can help.
I purchased my Nexus 6 from Motorola. I currently use Straightalks gsm service, but would like to transfer to STs Verizon LTE for better service in my area. Every time I register my device, it says that it won't work.
Can I use a friends imei?
Is there any other work around?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
So here is what I did to solve this issue. I used an imei from a Verizon LTE device to activate the straight talk Verizon Sim, then did a factory reset of my nexus 6 with the Sim. Worked perfectly.

I can think of ways to do it if you are rooted, but not without. If you have already manually configured your apn settings and it won't toggle on, it's likely that your sol.
Why you are using a locked-down vzw variant on T-mobile is the real question. Freebie?

I see. Well I am sorry we couldn't offer more help, but unfortunately this is a unique predicament that likely has no good (non root) answer.
