I bought an off contrct unclojed xt1097 from telus. Their marketing calls in pure edition but we know that the xt1095 is the real pure one. I contacted telus about the lollipop update and they said that they were waiting on Motorola and then contacted Motorola through the help chat on our phones and the Moto rep asked me to check with my carrier as they are the ones releasing. So frustrating how these people know nothing.
Has anyone with an xt1097 got any info or news ro share? Anyone receive a soak test?
Thanks for sharing!
I too have the xt1097 and havent received anything. The update for this version is not out yet, but according to mobile syrup, motorola is working with the canadian carriers to push it as soon as possible.

At the moment yes, but it will coming to wind or another carrier soon. Also lollipop is being pushed to the moto G on several networks and the 1st gen moto X on rogers. Hence working with Canadian carriers to bring lollipop to moto devices and not just to the moto X 2014 on Telus.
I do hope it is soon as I don't want to mess around too much with the phone just yet. There isn't really anything bloated about the Telus version, it just has some wifi #TELUSDIRECT and such in it.
Nexus 5 updates on Telus?
Does anyone know how long after kit kat was released did telus nexus 5 owners see their updates?
Lol comment fail. Anyways how quickly did n5 owners get 4.4.2 over the original 4.4.x firmware?
I too would like to know when we would receive lollipop.
Us xt1096 owners are still on 4.4.4 as well
I also have a 1097 Brazilian Retail Moto X and no updates here yet.
As it is a retail version I wonder what would be the trouble to release the update along with those pure editions. The Brazilian retail is the closest thing to a pure edition that is not being sold exclusively in US.
Hope they release it soon.
I know what you mean. It seems to be the exactly the same as the pure edition with absolutely no carrier bloat even bought from my carrier (TELUS). It would be very surprising if they sit on a working lollipop build for the xt1095 without also quickly updating the xt1097. As far as I know and I could be wrong is they only need a modified modem for the xt1097. How long can that take?

I don't think it'll take too long for us (I mean Brazilian xt1097 retail) to get it. Changes seem to be minimal and brazil is pretty high with motorola. My bet is we start getting it by next week. Hang on dude, Im with you on that!
Just chatted with a Motorola rep and she said it should be coming in a few weeks.

Pics for proof (not that I trust her actually knowing for sure).
Our turn?
Xt1095, then xt1096. Next xt1097? One can hope!
Can't be too long now, Verizon released it yesterday.....
Wind Mobile is now selling the Moto X. Haven't been able to confirm the model number or exact software version yet.
Looks like the same one as telus, almost the same ad..... looks like most of the southern part of the world is getting Lollipop, maybe it is too cold for it to travel here.....

Hey everyone,
I'm not sure if anyone would actually know this but if they could take an educated guess on if the XT1058 models that aren't locked to AT&T get the 4.4 update when AT&T does. [I'm on t-mobiles network]
I didn't realize how many different variables there were when purchasing my Moto X.
My current system version is 139.12.35.ghost_row.AmericaMovil.en.PR
I have not unlocked the BL or rooted. I just wanted to know if I'd be getting the update around the same time the AT&T folks do.
Thanks!

Verizon yesterday, AT&T today, so guessing T-Mobile tomorrow and maybe us lonely cold canadians on saturday:beer::beer::beer:
Sent on my Moto X
I believe mine is the Puerto Rico XT1058.
Well I shall hope it gets it when ever the ATT version gets it
Why is that?
What are you really trying to ask? Whether or not the boot loader (or possibly SIM) is locked has nothing to do with available updates
I'm just wondering why the Moto X has not been moved up to 4.4.2 while the Moto G has. I figured if they would move the Moto X up to 4.4.2.
I see the sprint version and the other carrier versions getting the update. Who will update the unlocked version of the Moto X?

I'm actually not sure how the unlocked GSM version gets its updates (I have VZW). I was under the impression it was through your carrier anyway, or by manually flashing after the fastboot files are released. In either case, the updates are starting to roll out, but are not yet available for US carriers
All of the updates come direct from Motorola - for all models of the Moto X and Moto G. The carriers simply "approve" of the firmware and give Motorola the ok to release it. The Dev/retail/tmobile edition (XT1053) which I assume you are referring to as the unlocked version requires no carrier approval but they likely test it with tmobile(and possibly other carriers) before releasing it.
4.4.2 for the US versions of the Moto X will be out very soon, it has been released for Canada and Brazil variations so far.
Ok, thanks for clearing that up.
Soak tests are already in play from what I hear, Verizon, T-Mobile, USC. Its comin

From what I read it might be because Moto G shipped with 4.4, so they got 1 update.. whereas we shipped with 4.2 and also got an update to 4.4.. so they started later.. not sure exactly.. but we should have it soon!
Plus there's more to update for the moto x and potentially more labor intensive as well since its a custom chip set essentially with the dual core krait 300 and the low power sensor processors. The moto g does not have the active display or the x8 system... But rather just a standard quad core qcom chip AMD LCD. Who knows how long Motorola was working on 4.4.2 for the g before it came out.

If you have the unlocked gsm from Motorola who will supply you with your update?
Motorola but they are doing the tmo soak test anyway. Its a great build though because you don't get stuck with a carrier logo on the left like some of the other 4.4.2 builds.

After calling Motorola I'm pretty sure we have to wait till the carrier okay's it. When I called Motorola they just sent me the same link I already had for the files, which only had what's current. I was on T-Mobile for about a week and after i changed my SIM back to AT&T my phone said i had an update....don't know why..I downloaded it but forgot i still had twrp instead of stock. It rebooted (after not installing) and when i checked my phone said up to date and still on 4.4...

I just received my update to 4.4.2. Still not sure who the update came from. I have the unlocked gsm version that came with the tmobile sim but I am on at&t.
The update is out for anyone with XT1053 now. You can even grab it here if you are rooted or otherwise unable to get OTA updates.

what is the difference between the xt1050 and the xt 1060, i see on ebay theres a listing for motherboards rot $29 model # xt1050 listed as a generic cdma model, phonearena has no listing on the xt1050, did google search and found link that suggest its not compatible in the us. it it possible to install the xt1050 board in device for sell in the us as a cdma device?
Don't bet on it!
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
I can partially answer that. the xt1050 is a device sold by 'regional carriers'. for example, I have an xt1050 but which was sold by alltel. there are other xt1050 models sold by Inland Cellular, Illinois Valley Cellular etc. Basically the xt1050 was the model sold by very small cellular companies. I can't vouch for other models besides the one i have but my alltel xt1050 was able to be unlocked officially via moto website. I was also able to install twrp on it.
But it gets more complex. There are apparently different firmware versions for each different xt1050 model. see this page here https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/94927/p/30,6720,8696 (under ACG Regional Carriers). Now what, if anything, is different between the different firmware numbers... I've no idea.
Finally, according to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56803257&postcount=60 the xt1050 actually shares the same fcc number as the xt1060. This is pretty much all the info I've gathered.

Can someone, say whether xt1060 is easier to root and cheaper than the former?
The 1050 is an AT&T, with 1060 being Verizon, which is more likely to cause less problemsin EU over the course of its use?

I have found that XT1060 means Verizon carrier - read it from a thread on somewhere of the 4rum.
I am owning that one using out of the US and everyting works fine for me now.
Rooting is just like playing around with the Rom there is nothing else.
A custom rom lacks Moto features, such as: active display, spotty, etc - a big dÃappointment!
Android L is pretty good with material design, but that is the only thing.

All Verizon LTE phones come SIM unlocked, meaning that they work fine on GSM carriers. The only problem that might show up is that LTE bands will likely not match, meaning the device is limited to HSPA+.
As for which is easier to root, the Verizon one will not be easy to root unless it's a developer edition. The XT1050 might be easily rootable, but there may be trouble using it on GSM carriers. It is not the ATT version of the X, rather it is the version used for smaller regional US carriers. The ATT version of the X is the XT1058 (also the version number for the Rogers Canada model). If I remember right, there are a few threads of people having problems SIM unlocking the XT1050 to use with carriers other than US Cellular (but you might need to search that info out).

Yes, I am referring to x1058, respectivelly At&T, I have no knowledge over a 1060, as the supplier only does 1058 and the Verizon one. With that being said, and by you marking Verizon bootloader unlockable, I guess I have no choice but to go with the AT&T and get a sunrise right after. ****e!
ps/ The dealer does infact says the Verizon one comes sim unlocked, but still the lack of customizability renders it rather unattractive in my mind!

Sorry if I wasn't clear. The XT1060 is the Verizon Moto X model number, the XT1050 is not. I believe the XT1050, which is used for regional carriers, has CDMA capabilities like the Verizon model (again, the XT1060). If it's still on 4.4.2, the Verizon model can be unlocked via Sunshine as well, but your best bet for compatibility is the AT&T 1058, since it has the widest range of LTE bands. Good luck!

When lolipop is coming to TURBO
My Son's Galaxy S4 just got Android 5.0! But yet nothing for the Turbo, Nice Job Moto!!!!
i think they are holding android 5.1 to release for Droid turbo and last year droid maxx
It looks like they are slower with the updates after the sale to lenovo. Jaoco, is there an optimized stock based custom rom from latin american forums for the xt1225 ?

it is quite normal to ask for android 5.1 update for the moto maxx when moto x 2014 already got the 5.1 in the same region. it is not rocket science.

To the people complaining about the update speed: Maxx (Xt1225) already have Lollipop, and though it wasn't immediatelly after its release, it was way ahead of a lot of devices. The problem with turbo is Verizon, not Motorola. I'm just reforcing this because if Verizon is delaying the update then there is nothing Motorola can do, so complainig to them is useless, but people dont seem to understand that. And I personally think Motorola is better with Lenovo than Google, first because Google wanted to keep Motorola a company apart from then and second because they were only interested in Motorola's patents, and Lenovo seems to be interested in using Motorola to take a share on the mobile market. I would be pissed too if my carrier didn't provide me the latest updates in a reasonable time (specially for a flagship), but instead of complaining to the wrong culprit, I would just change carriers (and I did sometimes here in Brazil). But I'm hoping you guys get this update soon.

My guess is 5.1 won't come to the Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo XT1225 until it comes to the XT1254 Droid Turbo.
Of the Quark phones, XT1225 already has Lollipop 5.0.2 while the XT1254 still has 4.4.4. Don't think Motorola will update the XT1225 yet again, while the Droid Turbo has not received any OS updates since being released in October 2014 -- whether it's Motorola's fault or not (cough - Verizon).
Which means the U.S. Moto Maxx XT1250 also won't receive Lollipop until it's FCC ID twin, the XT1254 receives Lollipop. It also is stuck on 4.4.4, as far as I know.
I think the OTA update for all three Quarks -- XT1225, XT1254, XT1250 will come about the same time -- when Verizon approves the 5.1 update for the Droid Turbo. Yeah, I know Verizon doesn't control the fate of phones not on their network. I'm not saying they do. But Motorola is owned by Lenovo, an Asian company where "saving face", not embarrassing business partners is ingrained in the corporate culture. If the other Quarks receive 5.1, and the Droid Turbo does not, that makes Verizon look worse than they already do. I just feel Motorola won't do that.
Hopefully, I'm wrong with that guess and 5.1 comes next week!

You are right in everything you said, but about "an Asian company where "saving face", not embarrassing business partners is ingrained in the corporate culture", you have to take in mind that customers also have a big play here, so my bet is that they won't care so much on Verizon, but instead would push the update to other markets whether Verizon is ready or not.
All this delays on the updates for the Turbo are directly related to Verizon, so I don't think a whole company stop it update process and mechanics just because a carrier.
The other point here, is that Verizon is not any carrier, is the carrier that each year release the Droid line and they have had a really close relation to Verizon for many years, so I guess the coin is in the air: bet for customers or bet for Verizon?.

Because they undoubtedly have an agreement with Verizon that they'll wait for Verizon to approve any updates before they push them. Breaking that agreement would be a great way to get Verizon to not let any new Motorola phones on their network.
A while ago I visited the moto maker website, and bought the xt1095 t mobile pure edition. I am currently using it on a Canadian carrier named Fido. I still haven't receive the 5.1 update and I am getting anxious, since 5.0 runs fairly slowly on the moto x, and I really look forward to the speed boost offered by 5.1. But will there be a delay for updates because I am in Canada? And also a lot of people have got the 5.1 update already, is it still in a soak test process? Please let me know, I literally checks the update every hour lol.
