GMAIL can now handle your YAHOO and OUTLOOK accounts! - LG G Watch R

GMAIL can now handle send and receive for both your YAHOO and OUTLOOK accounts. Why does this matter?
Well because Android Wear REALLY REALLY likes Gmail and REALLY REALLY hates Yahoo and Outlook. The benefits of using Gmail:
1) You will receive individual notifications for every email received.
2) You can USE voice to respond to each email from the watch.
I highly recommend making the switch and having Gmail handle everything. If you still want to maintain other email clients on your phone simply block them from notifications in your Android Wear app. This is now a much cleaner email solution.

Oh yes.. My wife uses hotmail and her Outlook app screws up most of the time, unable to download mails. I uninstalled it and added her account in the new Gmail. Very neat indeed.

Real Time, 2 way sync, Push for Gmail

Is there a real time, 2 way sync, push solution for Gmail? Or even better Google Apps?
I've seen Emoze but it's not real time and doesn't do 2 way syncing.
Any other solutions for pushing Gmail to my Tilt?
No there is not. Reason you can't have real time is the delay involved for Gmail to forward your email to a service that can Push it to your device.
So the closest you can get is something like setting your Gmail to forward all your email as it arrives to an Exchange service that supports Push like mail2web.com (or any other of your choice) and the then have your device sync to mail2web.com over the air.
And as you've noticed its only one way. There is no 2 way syncing.
I have set up IMAP settings for GMAIL, two way sync possible and you get almost instant notification with new emails.
Check in google mail under help for IMAP, or use these settings. Works great with Flexmail.
Here is a post from TangerineTractor on the XDA forum how to set up:
Good news for Googlemail/gmail users... IMAP supoport now implemented, so you can schedule checks of your mail account and manage
mails whilst keeping synced up with the gmail servers...
serversettings: imap.gmail.com:993
smtp.gmail.com:587 use SSL
user name is [email protected] or [email protected] etc...
If you set up labels in gmail, these appear as folders in your artemis mailbox, so moving a mail to a folder on your atremis has the effect
of adding a label to it and moving it to 'All Mail' in gmail.
In the advanced mail options, make sure you check to delete mail off server when deleting, otherwise all deleted mail stays in the gmail
all mail folder.

Yup, Gmail works great with Flexmail 2007, using IMAP IDLE for instant notification. (push)
PsyOpWarlord, please don't state your knowledge so absolute. Something like "Not as far as i know" makes things much clearer, now people are just confused.
Just create a hotmail account and use windows live. It's push email although I haven't figured out how to push my calendar to my Pocket Informant Calendar or outlook calendar on my device. If anyone could help. Thanks

Gmail or Email App

I have my main email account going through gmail but it takes ages for the emails to come through.
Would I be better using the normal email app and removing the account from gmail? Does the email app have something like push notifications?
No, your Gmail account should work fine. It's push email meaning it works practically the same way as SMS: someone sends an email, Gmail will send an alert to your phone.
The Email app is crumy at best. From what I know, the Email app isn't push, but rather a constantly refreshing (at your discretion) your email boxes. In theory, it could refresh faster than Gmail, however with all the stuff that integrates with Gmail, it's not worth it.
My guess would be that you have gmail set up to pull email from your main account, which will take longer. A better approach would be to have your main email account forward to your gmail account, which will be pretty close to instant.

Agreed, I set my yahoo acct to forward to gmail and it completely bypassed yahoo and is instantaneous in gmail. I also get my phone updates within a few seconds of an email being sent.

[Help] Which e-Mail App Do I Use?

On Cyanogen's ROM, there's 2 email apps. One called eMail and the other is Work Email. I want to sync my school email to the phone. So, I don't want it taking them off the server but just copying them. Anyway let me know which one I should be using, and maybe what's different about them?
I'd usually forward to my Gmail but my school filters out forwarded mail to Gmail.
You should use eMail for the task. Work Mail is to connect to exchange server.
My suggestion is K9 Mail. You can download from Market, and it has much more features than stock eMail app.
There is no free Mail app for Android I tried so far that I could say I like.
GMail app misses some important GMail functions, eMail app never ever shows me notifications even though I enabled them, Work eMail is exchange only with nearly no options and K9 has graphical, usability and speed issues.
Maybe I should try Touchdown Exchange for my University Mail (which uses exchange).
Are there any other Mail apps someone could recommend?

[Q] Good EMail App

Hello! So i'm new to the whole android scene, ive been using iPhones for 2 years, and windows mobile for years before that.
Currently on my phone, i have the gmail app for my gmail, some other email app that came with the captivate for my exchange syncing, and im using K-9 mail for my MSN email accounts (there's 3).
Everything works very well EXCEPT for the hotmail accounts. I would prefer to have all of my email accounts in 1 email app where i can open it up, pick the account and choose the folder i want to view (inbox, junk, trash, sent items, etc..)
Im having a tough time finding one... I'm ok with using 2 or 3 but 1 would of course be ideal. The biggest issue im having is the syncing. Ive tried every setting possible and my K-9 mail will not auto sync with the msn/hotmail servers. The only way to get my mail is to get into K-9 mail and tell it to sync, then after several minutes i'll have everything synced and see my new emails.
Is there an app that can combine all these, or just the hotmail accounts that will sync every hour or so automatically that anybody knows of?
Why not auto-forward your hotmail to your gmail. Or POP your hotmail from your gmail? You can set up a filter to label them as hotmail messages, or even use the multiple inbox lab.
There is no good all in one email app
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
MSN/Hotmail now supports full exchange sync with email, contacts and calendar. MS claims there is known issue with Android 2.1. In my case, I found the contacts sync doesn't work for me. MS advise you to use Android apps like TouchDown etc to do the sync instead.
The exchange server address is m.hotmail.com and use your email address and password to login.
So, you can use the default email app to add exchange sync for your MSN/hotmail account. The downside is that email app limits you to max two Exchange accounts.

Stock Email App Deleting Messages

When using a POP3 account with the stock email app I checked "Delete From Server? NEVER" and it deletes the message from my server anyway.
Works fine from all my other phones. Anyone else having the same problem?
Mike
Same problem here
I am in the same boat. It appears that it does not do it immediately, but shortly after deleting. I have double checked my settings and all account say to never delete from server. This is troubling. It appears that the email app on the turbo is very different from all previous droid email apps. Messages saved from previous email apps cannot be opened by the trubo email app.
Anyone have insights on this?
Use New GMAIL App
The new GMAIL app can handle your gmail account plus any other POP / IMAP and even exchange I believe. I have my Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail and Icloud all setup in the new updated app. Much better than the stock moto email app. Deletion works too. Just a thought:highfive:

Gmail update showed up for me today. Immediately switched out of the Email app. Not sure it will fix what ails ya but, it's a legit contender to make it happen.
still the same in gmail and moto email

I tried the new gmail in both pop3 and imap configuration. When setting it up to never delete from server, it still deltes from server in both gmail and moto email in both pop3 and imap.
Over on turbo moto forum, it seems that moto is now looking into this issue.
Be aware.
Yup, the new Gmail app deletes them too.
Looks like this has been a problem with Google based email since kitkat. Sure glad Google is worried about it... /s
