Hopefully that is the case but not likely. People are saying August 7th but in the end who knows.
I don't understand these people why make user wait too long that make people like me hack the phone i have froyo 2 weeks ago

Very unlikely. Verizon has not changed their support site for the Droid yet, still shows ESE81 pics. Also Motorola has not announced anything tangable as to a release date either. All I ever heard was some time late summer, and that seemed to be optimistic. There is also a thread on Motorola you can follow where Matt will let us know, most likely the same day it releases. Store techs have no clue about it, if they did we would all know the roll out date for sure.. Personally I think the Droid will get it the same time the Droid X does. That in turn will follow with the Droid 2 debut with froyo installed from the factory. " this is only my opinion, not facts"

You think so? Just with experience with the Eris and Incredible, I think it'll be a good month or two after the Droid 2 or X get it. Just my thoughts, as well, but you think they'll update an "older" device before or close to the newer ones?

You obvisouly don't know how verizon works. Verizon loves to update old phones when a upgrade is coming, it allows you to try out the OS which the new one will be running and make you want it.
Storm 1 got the update a little before the storm 2 came out.
Droid is still a very popular phone and still doesn't have any selling problems. The update will most likely come out some time early august around the same time the Droid 2 will come out.
Verizon green lit the release of ICS for the thunderbolt. Not trying to give anyone false hope for any relief but I have seen this before with Verizon where they upgrade a phone well beyond the point one would expect... However I have only seen them do this with HTC phones...
Congrats to Thunderbolt users if there were any left.

On another note, any idea who I might speak to about the possibility of my getting Moderator status for the Revo boards? I wanted to do some cleanup and consolidate the accurate information...Still plenty of people who have this phone coming here looking for assistance...I've done all this stuff before--hell I was here when we were figuring out a lot of it--but I still got turned around with all the contradicting info on here.

Wait a few months. Motorola is working on their first Google ran device that if rumors are true, should be pretty nice. I'm not sure if it will be a Nexus or if Google will put their own spin on things, but it should be nice either way. Google was already able to get Motorola to start releasing developer editions for their newer phones.

Not really a Motorola fan. I really liked the HTC One but no Verizon love. Not really a Samsung fan either. My co-worker has an S3 and I am not impressed. I am not locked into the Android ecosystem anymore. I should be getting a WP8 phone from work for testing. I will run with that for a time (so I do not have to renew and lose my unlimited data). Maybe Verizon will get a One some day.

I do not want the DNA. I want the One style. It is a handsome phone.
It is entirely too unweildy for me for everyday usage.
Basic things like it not fitting in the cup holder or the dedicated cellphone pocket in my truck, not to mention being very afraid of dropping it because of the slick sides and back.
1" smaller and I'd be in love (that's not what she said)

The Nexus 5 sounds like it would be the perfect device for you. It will give you the Nexus experience, runs on Lollipop now, early updates, and it is still officially supported by Google. I upgraded my Nexus 5 to Lollipop and runs great on it. Unfortunately now, it is retired to its box as a backup

Agreed, except I'm on Verizon.
AT&T and TMo are not sufficient for my coverage needs.
Back to my Moto X (2013) for now.
Hopefully, they release a "N6 Minus" (hahaha)
If anyone in Houston wants a 1 day old N6, I'll happily sell it at cost rather than return it to Google Play.

Since you are with Verizon, why not get the Droid Turbo? Seems like a solid upgrade from the Moto X (2013) and it's easily one of the best phones you can get on Verizon.

I would highly advise against this. The turbo has a ton of bugs as of right now. May become better over time but it is a flawed device.

Bugs such as what? Linus released a video and his biggest complaint was the camera with moving action.

Although, I will say this... if development such as ROM or kernel development is important then Droid Turbo is not the way to go because Verizon devices tend to be very locked down (with the exception of Nexus devices... but then again VZW proved us wrong on the Galaxy Nexus and released no details about N6 yet other that they're having it on their network)

I'm in okc. Would you be willing to ship? If we do it over PayPal there is a claims resolution. I've used it to get back cash from a crappy sale. I think this is how it goes.
1. I pay you over PayPal
2. You ship with signature confirmation to prove shipment and protect yourself.
We could also use Google wallet if you prefer, but i don't know how that might work.

Screen brightness is terrible, speaker volume is a joke, battery life is abysmal, quick charging is as fast as regular charging, phone gets ridiculously hot, some users including myself and on the Verge experience terrible screen scrolling lag, you can't remove the Google search bar which is persistent on every screen, camera is very slow.

The Nexus 6 mini is already out. It's the Moto X (2014)
Did you buy through Motorola or the play store? Why not get your money back and buy the new moto x outright. Sounds like exactly what you're wanting from the nexus, plus it got lollipop already before any other carrier version. What bizarre world did I wake up in today?

Hi, I just bought a moto x 2014 in Brazil (not locked to any carriers), and went to update, but it says no updates are available. I read everywhere that lollipop has been out for moto x 2nd gen for a while now. am I missing something? thanks

Not all variants of the Moto X 2014 have received Lollipop update. For instance, my XT1093 has not gotten it yet. XT1095 (pure edition) and maybe some others have gotten the update already.

well actually android lollipop is the thing i need the most in a smartphone. multi-user is the reason I bought this phone right now, I have a band and I use instagram / twitter / facebook / all things that doesn't have multi-user support like google apps, so the only way I can manage everything is with android lollipop.
I had a galaxy s4 with cyanogen lollipop, but phone just fried so I went to the store and bought the best phone I could pay that had guaranteed lollipop upgrade, and when i got home bam, no upgrade. that's a bummer.

All I can say is you'll get it soon, so sit tight.
I was actually expecting a way to force upgrade since it's been out for a while, and I'm not very patient, not good with waiting for something that has not a defined time to get done you know? been waiting forever to get it on my s4, and it never came, had to do a manual install. My phones don't usually last longer than a year or two, so I can't afford to wait another six months for it unfortunately

It won't be six months. You're looking at a few weeks, max. You could look into side loading or flashing a ROM, though I'm not sure what is compatible with your model and what isn't.
I found an OTA download wich supposedly would force update my phone to download the official release, let's give it a shot

I think you're misinterpreting what you found. If it's the actual OTA zip, the file itself will update your phone to the official release... that's called sideloading. Nothing can force your phone to download the OTA if it's not already available. That's entirely up to Motorola or your carrier. And if it is available, you'd be able to get it by checking for it in settings. Post the link to what you found and I'll check it out.
I personally have no issues with it, never encountered the memory leak issue. I was a bit peeved at first they removed the silent mode but once I worked out how to use the priorities for alerts I was fine. Now I just wish they'd roll out lollipop for my Samsung Tab S.
I recently had the misfortune of taking a phone for 18 dollars with a Verizon plan, and now, find it doesn't compare to my Moto E 2nd Generation. I am looking at a new, Motorola though, and thinking the G6 might be a good phone to upgrade to.
Are there other Moto lovers that have gone from an earlier version, which they loved, to a newer version and found them as lovable??
I can read all about them, but hands on is really way better imo. So talking to others that are where I am, or, have been there with getting into a newer Moto seems the best shot, before I buy Thank you for any input/advice, Denise PS I bought a Samsung J3 V, which I do not like. I can find my way around after Samsung giving me a link to a Simulator, but I just feel better going with what I know is a good phone.
I had a Moto e4. It was a great cheap phone. But I picked up a Moto g6 play and I really like it. The regular g6 (not play) is a great phone. And it's going to receive the update to Pie shortly (some have gotten it on the soak test and leaked it.)
I say go for it. It's a good solid phone

Thanks so much, appreciate you taking the time, Denise:good:
My last Moto phone was the Pure but I did pick up a new G6 two days ago from Verizon for $10 a month as a back up. It's a solid phone with great battery life and a decent camera. I'm really pleased with it actually but if I were to do it again I would go for the Moto Z3 for the same price and better specs. I think if I did that I would be using it as my main phone and not bothering with another. I was only able to go through BestBuy because Verizon was closed and I needed a phone that day and was only offered the G6 for that price. Either way this is a great phone for the price and lives up to the typical Moto experience. I don't think you can go wrong with it.

This is great! I wondered about the Moto Z3 but that's the one that has mods, which I probably would never use. I guess you have to purchase them of course. But I like the idea of Verizon having the same, monthly payments. Is that a 0% APR for 24 months?
Again, I am so glad to talk to Moto lovers, or definite likers, lol This Samsung has a heat problem, but since I put the case on I don't know really, and I haven't talked on it that long, yet, since the case. It doesn't overheat, but it's uncomfy for sure. My Moto E I'm keeping no matter what, for a back up.
I'll look a bit more into the Z3, but I'm not usually the type that tries get the latest of things. More the type that stick with anything that is still working satisfactorily
Thank you much, getting some much welcome replies here Denise

No "play" is the Google play edition. Slightly cheaper basically.
Yes, soak test is the beta program. Some people in it got the beta update and posted it. So it's definitely getting pie.
I've never used Verizon, I like to make a couple system level changes. So Verizon iron locked bootloaders are out for me. But even straight stock, Moto devices are solid performers. G6 included.
Thanks again MB, it looks like I'll get the Z3 instead because they are running a deal that brings the monthly amount of the Z3 down to the same amount as the G6. I might as well go for it. As far as I'm concerned, you are right on with your comment of Moto's are just solid performers. I've had 2 now, and this upcoming will be my 3rd
Thanks again, Denise

Ok, I had to check, but mine will just be a Moto Z3, pretty sure. Because that's what Verizon is providing for me and I don't think Verizon sells the Z3 Play. Glad to hear you decided on the Z3. I don't think you will regret it.
I feel pretty good about my decision after reading and watching a couple of videos and especially from hearing person to person from you guys thank you so much!
Hey all, thought I'd let you know I ran into all kinds of hassals with Verizon because I bought the Samsung through Walmart. Long story short, I just exchanged the Samsung for what they had in a Motorola (at Walmart) which was a G6. I really like it, and feel so much better "driving" a Motorola, LOL!!
But seriously, I am glad I got so much feedback on the G6s because I was all excited about the Z3 at the same price. I still don't know they knocked off $100 dollars of the cost on the G6, but I didn't question it. It might have been because of the wrong info from the Verizon store, and also, with the online chat, and customer service phone-calls. Walmart store here, does not stock the Z3s.
