Hey guy's I recently set a custom wallpaper on my new Tilt and it seems like its transparent and not fully colored. It's not the original image, just a lighter version of it and you can't really see it properly, is there anyway of fixing this? I tried looking in the settings, couldn't find anything.
Pictures and videos -> set as background -> change opacity to zero.

yes but we should really be asking them to do it advising even. not *****ing at them as itll discourage the learning curve of the site

what are you talking about...the senior member Jimmy didnt do anything wrong, you must've misread something.
Dude jayjay? What is your beef with me? If you have a problem with me, be a man and talk to me in PM instead of trying to belittle me in Open Forums. You only serve to make a fool out of yourself.
I have been very helpful in my short time here. That gives me the right to offer a FRIENDLY suggestion.
When I started here no one said that to me. This will save people from heartaches and from being flamed. I am kind enough to offer them warnings before they walk into the battlefield.
I'm quite aware that 100 posts changes your title near your name to Senior. That does not entitle me to squat. I've worked hard and earned my respect here.
If you have a problem with the way I, or anyone else, responds to redundant posts. Make your own forum and leave here, because these policies were in place before I got here. And they don't seem likely to change anytime soon.
i was just saying that no senior member has no right giving noobs crap bout the rules, we should be guiding them in what to do. not *****ing at them

I think everyone needs to relax instead of getting heated. Its unnecessary for everyone to be on the verge of battle all the time. Let's all just continue to help everyone learn and guide people in the right direction.
I will admit to being wrong. The question is you say "guide," everyone keeps saying we should "guide" the noobs.
Look at this Post and tell me how I could be more clear in guiding someone to the Wikis, Stickies, and Search?

im just saying all the senior members can be a little preachy at times, just have to look at our wording before we post. i got flamed too thats why i go out of my way be asking if theyve tried first, its not really you i have beef with, i just keep expecting senior members to be horrible so i get picky sometimes

I don't see anything wrong with this post. Jimmy was not being rude or arrogant in his response. He was merely informing a new user that the rules of XDA-Developers require a member (junior, standard, or senior) to search existing threads prior to creating new threads.
The most common rebuttal to the search requirement is: "Other forums don't require this..." While I'm sure that's true on a fair number of other sites, it only contributes to making the site look like an 8 year old's room. One reason that it is so easy to find information on XDA-Developers is because of the search-before-posting policy.
ha ha i kno ill be a senior member the false teeth are in a cup of water
hell i cant wait till someone asks me to be an admin so i can does this in just a robe
ha ha
u worded there sermon fine, i just dont read good
lets start the church of HTCology (no Cruises allowed{tom not touch})
I agree with all that.
If I'm coming across rude, I apologize. If you think I need to reword let me know.
This is a petition to all winmo device users.
i think xda devs shouls make an axception to the htc only rule and be very nice and let a forum for samsung omnias be opened
the reason why i think this is because all of the minds here are very good at what they do whether its software development or just helping noobs and i dont want to go to another website were ythe quality of people is different

It's so cute that you guys think this forum is a democracy.
If the Admins say no, which they have repeatedly, for very sound reasons, Then its not going to happen.
But This thread can continue if you like.

Democracy No... never thought that at all...
Community YES. It even says that on the front page. A pettition isn't a demand, a threat or a power grab. It's not even a threat to your authority Jimmy. It is however a way of the comminity expressing an opinion to those who actually do have the authority and responsibilty of running xda-developers. Running a site such as XDA has to be an amazing amount of work. And the admin team are awesome :approve:
Now if those Admins actually do have very sound reasons for not doing this then fair enough. If those reasons are given then we can respect the choice even if we may not agree with it. If they were to say no, then it wouldn't happen (until they said yes)
However that isn't the situation that we seem to have here. Even with reasonable amount of searching I can't find any Admin actually saying anything about the subject*
*if such a post does already exist about "No to an Omnia forum"** from an actual Admin then I'd really love to see it. If "Sound reasons" are given in that post from an admin then I'll respectfully apologise and eat my words. If Multiple posts from Admins exist, with the sound reasons, then i'll even post the video of me eating those words.....

I never said that I thought this shouldn't be done. I never said I felt my power, what ever THAT may be, was threatened.
But It has been said repeatedly with EVERY device that was not HTC made that was suggested that, no there will not be a forum.
I just don't want you guys getting your hopes up, if this works out for you guys, great. But don't get disappointed when the pattern of rejecting non HTC devices continue.
Was I a little flip in my post? Probably, but that's my personality.

And If I sounded antagonistic towards you in any way, then that wasn't my intention either.
If it happens then I think it will be of great benefit to XDA-developers and to its members. If it doesn't happen, well nobody can say we didn't ask for it.
Why don't you create a forum oustide XDA (if not already available, I won't search it as I don't need it).
I mean why absolutely living here . If the Omnia community is so huge, it can be huge in an other place/forum, it doesn't need this very forum!
I think the whole point was to join a community with the sound basis of this forum as a place to bounce ideas back and forth across platforms regardless of manufacturer with the hope of improving the devices of everyone.

That's where you thought wrong. This forum was created specifically for HTC devices, and HTC only. Honestly, think of how many different devices there are out there, do you really think it's possible to maintain that many devices? Looks like you just joined, so I imagine you've seen very little here, as have I in only a few months, but everytime a new non-HTC device hits the market, a few people ask this same question, and receive the same response. Then the thread dies down after 2-3 weeks, and everything is back to normal. There are reasons why this forum sticks to HTC only, and I'm sure it's not going to change every time a group of people get a different device.
So, I'm not sure where you got your idea of the community, but just with any other forum out there, it's information and users are directed towards one general idea, and this one happens to be HTC devices.
There is another big Forum dedicated to the Samsung Omnia:
http://www.modaco.com/category/342/i900-omnia-http-i900-modaco-com/
It is very sad that xda-developers will lose importance due to more and more non-htc devices being released (Samsung, Sony Ericcson...).
For noobs : Before posting a question, read this thread then if you're still in the dark ask here!
Please don't start a new thread unless you haven't found a satisfying answer here.
Welcome, and enjoy!

This is actually a really good idea but...
If you want to get a thread stickied (sic) then you really need to have some usefull information in the top post and reserve some below. This way you can maintain it to bring the good stuff to the top as it is added.
A 100 post long thread with maybe 5 bits of usefull information dotted through it really isn't helpfull. Forum search feature or not.
Yea...I might have left a few empty post...
I just thought that a thread like this just for questions wouldn't need that...It's not like you're gonna have all the questions on the first page or smth... It things would have gone well... it could have A LOT of questions...
Great its a sticky so lets see if this works........
Oh for the spark's sake, I'll start.
Not a single HD video plays on my Xperia, well Coreplayer does but its so choppy and insane. Even after converting with the Touch HD video converter software, WMP says "The source filter for this file could not be loaded."

Not the right criticism. It seems the point of this thread is not to be an encyclopedia of newbie answers (plenty of resources for that, especially mapledouglas' great web site), but rather a place where any newbie can ask a question that's been asked 100 times elsewhere, and find some generous soul to answer it. So newbie's shouldn't have to read through all the posts, just go to the end and ask the question that's nagging them!

Is this developement related or should this be in the QA section? I do think it belongs in the QA section. Next time post in the correct section or post will get reported as spam lol
1. Search dude. This is one of the most obvious questions I've ever seen asked here.
2. Read around the forums before posting, that goes hand-in-hand with searching...
3. Post in the right friggin' section. You have a [Q] in your tread title which means it's a question, which is fine, but its not a "Captivate Android Development" question! It belongs in the Question and Answer section. (which is amazingly obvious, it's not like they hide it from you around here)
4. The answer to your question is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989 which you didn't even need to search to find, its on the first page of the Development section which I know you looked in because you posted here.
*sigh*

I have to agree with this 100%. When I first started I didn't even realize I could search the forums or threads. Instead of someone pointing out to me there was search and explain how it works I was unbelievably verbally beaten to a bloody pulp about what an idiot I was. Even today I was taken to task for a post that cites a measure of rom's performance instead of the accepted evaluations we see day in and day out-fantastic, great, best, unbelievably fast. To me the true evaluation of a rom has to be functionality and some measure. If you do not think Quadrant scores, net speed tests and Lin pack scores measure performance tell me what does. I understand e mail works, videos play, I can make phone calls etc. That tells me how the rom functions. How do you measure a rom's performance other than to say fantastic, great, good etc.? Tell me.
All the "this is in the wrong forum, dude" posts are not about development either, so you're all off topic.
Spend less time bashing, and more time helping the new forum members.
The internet doesn't need more assholes, just more manners and good examples.

So just because someone is new to the forums we give them some leeway because they can't READ? Seriously guys it doesn't matter how new you are, if you have a question, put it in the Question and Answers thread. Almost every website has a search function, they aren't hard to find, so that excuse of "I didn't know" is pretty bogus.

when you are reading these forums every day trying to see whats going on in the dev world, all you see on the front page are [Q] threads, posted in the wrong section. then we have to filter out all the BS and try to find useful info, when it should be right there, easily accessible, which is the point of breaking up the sections of the forums....
it's clutter
and the mods do a good job of moving them, but the n00bs come in here and post the BS so fast, its impossible to keep up.
Hi all,
Can anyone please help me out with windows 7 rom for my touch hd, i really want to get it, cause it looks cool. please it would be nice if you could give me the link.
Great idea! Except for the part where it is a looooot of work (if it even can be done), and the part where it will lagg like **** on our HD's because we've got about 35% of the speed needed to run WP7 smoothly.
summary: if you want WP7 you should buy a new phone

@all of you who post new threads and don't give **** about the forum itself: ...come on read a bit, everything is in stickies, wiki and general...even fallen spartan is somewhere around all the time,do you really have to torture the poor guy,he maybe has wife or children or pretty much anything that is more important than sitting here and constantly saying "thread moved, thread closed"
just read and spare everyone pain in the ass
@everyone else: treat this as noob bashing i don't care....flame me i care even less, these guys just drive me crazy because they are so lazy that they don't even read before posting (not to mention searching or something more complex like thinking)
@everyone (including all those who aren't mentioned above): have mercy for our mods, they are people too, don't **** in their front yard

nah, i don't blow that easily, but people just won't read or do anything by themselves...i mean all of us were noobs once we know how it was,but i can say for myself that i always read as much as i could before asking
what's that with guardian?...if you are saying that because kwbr's thread...what's wrong with informing people that they posted it in wrong place and making an example what not to do to others?
Ok, this is not my forum, but I just want to put out a few words.
I feel honored about the way you think highly of the forum and mods, farukb. But seriously, relax. Just use the "report post button" on top of a post if you feel it's not in the right section, or against the rules. We mods get these reports instantly and we'll be in here before you write your witty reply.
I've reported this now, so the FSM (forum specific mod) can action this.
Oh, and be nice for the noobies, they have to learn the xda ways.
i just became fed up with couch potatoes...
check last 3 days and see that there were several threads that didn't fit into specific subforums...i mean what is the problem with reading the subforum name?..not to mention anything else
in other hand if someone asks for some guide or explanation that is backed up with some reading or searching effort,i'm glad to help
...but anyway, roger that, neo....
one more thing...it is a good to be able to learn from your mistakes, but it is even better to be able to learn from other people's mistakes
cheers everyone

And with that, let's end the discussion. People, please READ THE RULES BEFORE POSTING, to prevent discussions like these.
Thank you.
I've decided to close this thread as it serves no purpose. Firstly OP decided not to follow forum rules by searching and reading beforehand, and secondly posted in the wrong forum
Its posts like this which winds people up and starts flamewars
