I'm just speculating here, since (A) I haven't tried flashing it yet, and (B) I don't have any official-source knowledge of this answer, but I would expect "the latest" RSD Lite; I think I have 5.6.4 on my Android dev machine at home, but I'm not home at the moment so I could be wrong. I set it up only a couple of weeks ago, so unless the download link I used was already stale, that should be current.
To be more certain than just me talking out of my ass , I recommend googling around as well as waiting for someone knowledgeable to answer here.
ETA: According to this tutorial video on fastboot flashing the Razr, 5.6.4 is the version they were using. The general guidance I've seen is that the Razr is architecturally very similar to the D4, so that is probably the best answer unless a newer rev has leaked in the intervening month or so.
ETA2: A little forum searching and I find this post with a download of RSD Lite 5.7. I stand corrected, I think. I'll be downloading and trying that tonight.

I can confirm that this recovery xml.zip, using the tools and procedures kholk posted, completely recovered my phone from boot-loop bricked state.
After the "decompress and start flashing" part of the instructions, it took about 15 minutes to flash and about another 10 minutes rebooting into normal recovery (the little android and open box icon), then one more reboot and I was re-connecting to my gmail account.
After that, the kind of magic Android Google settings recovery thing happened and the phone even remembered and reconnected to my home wi-fi.
As it stands, my phone is now pristine, fully stock, and with my settings and /sdcard stuff fully back. 4G and phone number too. (That probably wasn't in doubt, but I'll say it for completeness' sake.)
I judge that this fastboot recovery file to be perfect, and kholk's instructions were flawless.
Here are a few more mirrors of the fastboot file just in case, thanks to djb.617 @ DroidForums)

thanks kholk! now i can overclock my droid 4 and hope more development will start, also can't wait to see if your custom kernel starts working on the CDMA RAZR and D4
I followed the steps as shown in the video... and I'm still bootlooping... this isn't good.
Someone posted over on droidforums.net that this failed and now she's getting a "AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure)" message:
SO I definitely just tried this and it definitely stopped on 17/18 and it said Flash Failure. And now I can't even get my phone to turn on.
It says:
"AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure)
OA.6C
To return to normal mode -- first press power key to power down (i tried this)
****
Device is LOCKED, Status Code: 0
Battery Ok
Ok to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable"
I did what it said to do. Now what do I do?! I tried to go back to the screen where I clicked on AP Fastboot Flash Mode, and I tried clicking on Normal reboot, recovery, and just about every other option available, and nothing worked.
Someone please help me ! I just got this phone a month ago, and I'm going out of town tomorrow and need to have a working phone!

If you are bootlooping after a fxz flash go into stock recovery. Power off then power back on while holding both vol UP and down. Then at the android and triangle press both vol keys to enter stock recovery. Wipe data and cache then reboot and you should boot up to setup screen.

I made that thread But actually I pretty much just copied it over from info I found here on XDA in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622256
All the credit belongs to kholk, daywalker04, and Skrilax_CZ for releasing/hosting the files
True that but you made easier to find and broke it down Barney style for slow noob like myself. The whole developer team fulfilled my prayer but man you made my day
So, is there any way now that I can brick my phone into an unsalvageable mess short of physical damage? That's the situation I had with my OG droid with sbf files. I'm still not completely sure this the case with a locked bootloader. If it is, I'm looking so forward to tinkering with my phone again, as I have shown restraint since there was no way to unbrick my phone.
That should solve for all the bricking issues with the Droid 4
The restoring to stock just won't work for me at all... I'm about ready to give up.
First off thanks for the post.
I have a quick question. My system version is 6.93.215 instead of 6.13.215. Does anyone know why? Does it really matter?

That's really strange. I've never seen 6.93.215 anywhere...and Googling it only brings up your post. I would imagine you shouldn't have a problem flashing 6.13.219 but I'd try and determine how you got that system version first, just to be safe.

I think the only way to really screw it up (someone correct me if I'm wrong), is the same way you could really screw the OG Droid up, by interrupting the flash procedure during RSDLite.
With the locked bootloader, we should be even safer (I think) than with the OG Droid. Although I never tried this on the OG Droid, on the Kindle Fire you can replace the bootloader. If you hose that, pretty sure it is game over... Don't think this is possible on the D4, since it needs to be signed...

Just read something about some Razr owners bricking their phone trying to go back to stock using RSDLite after flashing a leaked ICS build. Not sure what the leak could have done to mess that up but just FYI.

It's not like the D3 you could restore back to stock without rsdlite. When I flashed mine I didn't get the msg saying "process completed".
If your phone keeps bootlooping after flashing it to stock with the 6.13.219 via rsdlite v 5.7
You can try tne following. Works like a charm for me
1-unplug the phone from the pc
2-Hold down the power button + volume down to reboot onto recovery,
Select Recovery from the list.
3-when the screen with the android and the exclamation mark comes up press both volume buttons to get onto the recovery options.
4-Wipe data and cache and then select "reboot system".
Then you should be good to go.

I've put myself in a bit of a hassle. I think I accidentally flashed the wrong ROM through Odin into my i9000 when being very stressed out, since I couldn't be reached while at work because of a boot loop.
Luckily I got saved by the fact that the OS still boots, thus allowing me to enter recovery or download mode using ADB.
But, I can't enter recovery or download mode using the three button combo anymore, seeing as my current ROM is performing too bad I'm now afraid to flash a new one. If I get stuck in a boot loop now I wouldn't know at all what to do.
TL;DR: What can I flash into my phone using Odin to make the three-button-combo functional again?
EDIT: Would "[ODIN] DarkyROM 10.2 Resurrection GT-I9000" work for me?
Cheers

My phone is already rooted and temporarily using CM9, but will flashing these files provide me with the correct firmware? And by firmware I mean which ever software is on a level low enough to handle key presses before boot.
Thanks
EDIT: From what I've read, it appears as the reason I can't enter download mode probably is because I don't have a primary bootloader. I'll try to flash the version with bootloader included.

I managed to start the download mode by pressing both volume buttons, and while having done so for about 1s I connected the USB. This brought up a message telling me to press VolUp to get to download mode and VolDown to reboot again. I was stumped by this seeing as nothing happened as I pressed VolUp, I then decided to press VolDown which got me to Download Mode.
I'll try to install XXJVK now. Cheers!
TL;DR: VolUp+VolDown -> Insert USB after about 1s -> Press VolDown even though it tells you to press VolUp

odin and download mode problems
hi there
i'm not just a Noob, i'm also very far from being a pro', so all the professional terms mean nothing to me. this is why the forum is very confusing for me...
I got my galaxy S Hebrew OS on it, wich turned out to be a troublemaker. i'ts a phone I bought in china, so it sill has strange chinees notifications no one can understand... and no facebook access, and I can't download skype (it says "skype is not available in your country", even when I had an israeli sim and israeli wifi).
I want to upgrade to Gingerbread (2.3.4), assuming it will erase any sign of the hebrew os, plus improve my phone generally.
I have a guide, odin3 and all the necessary files. when the phone is on download mode, the odin won't recognize the connection. I don't have kies, and when the phone in on ordinary mode there are no connection problems (i'm on "mass storage" in the usb options). I tried it with an israeli sim in, a chinees sim in, and without any sim at all. nothing works. everytime the computer reacts with sound and everything (this sad sound of "i know there's something there and can't connect it"). it's a new laptop with windows 7. I don't have another computer, but I can go to a friend's house if there's a chance win xp would work... should I? are there any other known solutions for this problem?
in addition- do you know (or does anybody know) how can I fix the chinees problems (blocks?) with facebook, skype etc.?
*** i'd be glad to receive answers by mail instead of filling the forum with my stupid questions
thank you anyway

Android is an os, gingerbread is a version of the android os and jvk is a rom, if that makes sense, like I am using Android (os) Version 4.0.4 ice cream sandwich and my rom is dark Knight 5.5
So what u are flashing is a rom

Hey guys can someone please provide me a guide to make a Cwm flashable file. I try different roms and in that process end up losing my ringtones and alarm tones. I want to make a Cwm flashable file which will paste those tones in system/media/audio.
Thanks.

This is an old unofficial version. Please go to THIS thread for the updated, official version.
All information below this line pertains to the old, unofficial version. Use the link above to get the official version.
Updated (v2) Slow recovery bootup fixed.
This is an unofficial version of CWM Advanced/PhilZ Touch recovery. Main thread located HERE. Go to the main thread to learn about all the features.
It uses the zImage and ramdisk provided by @ketut.kumajaya with a few tweaks to get it working made by myself.
Please take a moment to say thanks and/or donate to @ketut.kumajaya for helping us out.
It takes a few seconds longer for CWM based recoveries to boot than the stock recovery, so be patient.
Credits go to:
@Phil3759 for the advanced features
@ketut.kumajaya for the working zImage
and of course Koush and the CyanogenMod team
Link to kernel source https://github.com/kumajaya/android_kernel_samsung_lt02
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If the on-screen menu doesn't show, hit one of the up/down buttons at the bottom to get it to appear. This is the same issue seen with CWM recovery and is caused by booting into recovery with the key combo. I highly recommend using the Quick Boot app or another software method of booting recovery.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Instructions:
1. Download ODIN on your computer.
2. Power off the device.
3. Restart in "Download Mode" by holding the "HOME" button, "Volume Down" and "Power" all at the same time (for about 5 seconds).
4. Hit the "Volume Up" to enter download mode.
5. Start the ODIN exe program. Un-check Auto Reboot. See notes about ODIN below.
6. Connect the device via USB to your computer. Verify the device shows as "Added" in the Message box. If it doesn't show then you need the Samsung USB drivers (just install KIES to get them).
7. Select "PDA" then choose the recovery file you want to flash.
8. Hit "START". Wait for Odin to finish (~10-15 seconds). The message area will display "RES OK" when finished.
9. Wait for device to restart. Skip this step if you unchecked auto reboot.
10. Restart directly to recovery mode before rebooting into OS.(Hold POWER, Volume UP, and the HOME button all at the same time. When you see the Samsung Logo, let go of the POWER button, but keep holding the Volume UP and HOME until you see the recovery screen).
11. To get the Internal SDcard to be recognized properly, choose the Advanced option; then touch the "Storage set to" option. It should change from "/data/media/0" to "data/media/". Then reboot recovery using the "Power Options".
I also recommend adjusting the Menu Height to a smaller value using the PhilZ settings option.
Notes about ODIN
--Make sure that "Re-Partition" is NOT checked.
--Auto Reboot can be un-checked if the recovery doesn't flash correctly on your device. Some have reported that un-checking Auto Reboot fixes this issue. If you un-check Auto Reboot, you will need to reboot the device yourself (refer back to step 10).
Instructions for recovery flashable version:
Boot into your previously installed custom recovery.
Select the Install Zip option.
Find the recovery zip.
Flash.
Reboot recovery.
Enjoy your new recovery.
Main Menu
Downloaded and installed. What i found so far is that it reacts little slow and the time in the status bar is gone in lockscreen.... After unlocking clock comes back in status bar.
Cant change GUI height correctly, all the time i touch GUI it increases the value only...

I'm not sure what you mean about the time. It is not supposed to be in the status bar on the lock screen, and that has nothing to do with this recovery.

In regards to it reacting slowly, since you complained about that with TWRP also, I believe that is a problem with your tablet. I can't imagine it working any faster on mine. Every selection is immediate.
Keep increasing the gui height until it goes to a lower value (around 100 it switches).

Some other users also experienced slow reaction with latest TWRP. I used TWRP 2.5.0.0 and speed and reaction was ok, on 2.6.xx reaction is slow...
Awesome job. Like how this is all coming together slowly for this tablet...

Hi, i have a t217A tab 3 7.0 and it has a msm8960 cpu not the msm8930 you mentioed earlier, which shows up under cpuz as a Krait 1.73 gighz
when i boot to recovery it says encrypted and the flash fails. im guessing i need a diffrent version. is there a current build for the touch screen recovery for this version already made and in place ? if so could someone link me ?
and i had a q , you mention that this should be flashed via already flashed recovery , is this mandatory or can i flash the touch version via odin straight away ? do i need to flash the regular non touch recovery then flash the touch or can i get away with directly flashing the touch recovery without first flashing the non touch?
I have rooted already , the method on this forum worked for the t217A
thanks

No , it has msm8930 it will still show as 8960 it's a qcom thing. Also this isn't for your device.
Hi everyone
After a lot of reading i decided to install a ROM. Now i was able to try to but none of them worked, so i ve been trying now for 3 days. I think i did it all as stated in this forums, it launched but never go to really open the OS, used to get stuck at the motorola or nexus logos or what ever logo from the different ROMs i downloaded.
I was able to go back to the original ROM but today im not being able to do so...
What can i do? Im at recovery and im able to restore boot but at system it says:Error while restoring /system!
I had it backedup at pc so i have also removed the one at sd card and tried with the one from PC.
What can i do (that doesnt involve getting another phone)
You can try RSDLite to flash back stock ROM just be careful and flash right ROM, otherwise you can brick your phone. You can't flash custom ROMs with RSD.

Boot the phone into bootloader/fastboot?
You have an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery installed? I assume you have both since you were trying to install custom ROMs.
I have tried to the fastboot... im trying AP fastboot and theres where i am stuck right now.
Yes custome recovery and unlocked bootloader there. I had the phone moved to another couple of roms but the never loaded correctly so i went back to my original ROM, i tried a few other ROMs and none worked so this time i try to go back but it doesnt come back anymore...
Try downloading PhilzAdvanced CWM Recovery. It is based off the latest CWM and should be able to flash your backups or ROMS. Maybe not your backups unless you made them with a CWM based recovery, but it should get you booted up.

1. Read the Myth Tools OP
2. Download Myth Tools
3. Download Philz CWM
4. Download a stock fastboot
5. Place the fastboot zip and the extracted recovery/cwm.img in their respected folders
6. Run Myth's executable and follow the instructions
7. If that doesn't work then read the faqs here and in the RAZR HD forums, all your questions have been answered already.
Still with same issue...
Phone is not recognized by the computer (tried 3 different laptops)
Cannot download the Drivers as its an automated process that begins when you connect the phone...
Does anyone knows an alternative to install AHD drivers ?

Again, my main issue device not detected by pc... so i cant download drivers using automatic tools that detects the phone because again phone is not detected and mythtools goes straight to the motorola device manager which needs a phone connected to act... so in a very bad circle i am... and i would try to use someone else phone but here in Costa Rica i know of noone else with a Motorola phone... everyone thinks it no longer exists... and i havent found a way to download the specific drivers for my specific device in a way it doesnt require to be connected.
You can boot into recovery? If so download the latest philztouch cwm recovery, put it on your sd card, and flash it from recovery. Then flash the ROM you want.

Nice i managed to flash the philztouch recovery... the damn phone doesn't want to accept any ROM... keeps aborting them. So far thanks a lot... ill read like crazy today again and ill ask for help if failure salutes me again!
:highfive:
If you made a backup of your stock after rooting try flashing that and then hooking your phone up to your pc

It finally works
It works... i think somehow the recovery stopped working at some point... now with Philz phone was recognized by pc and i was able to use Myth tools to do the job. I think this will be my last Motorola...
Things to highlight:
1 i did read a lot before doing anything, still somehow screwed up, did read lots before asking here, still needed to ask... got answers, still needed to ask more... it was fun as everyone at work said: " its bricked fool buy a new one and stop playing to be good at something" but hell yeah its fixed!
2 i will try again to install another rom, i wont give up damn it!
3 i might begin with my wife Note 1, its old so its ok to brick it ha ha ha
4 damn it guys you are cool... wish i were 10% of you guys!
5 I think instead of all those different options out there we should recommend only to use the myth tools, its a complete package and its easy to use even with examples for newbies like me.
Again thanks and questions on friday after i brick it again e he he he...
The other stuff is there so you can understand what the automated stuff is actually doing.

Ok so i have started the process again. I cant tell what i am doing wrong. I have flashed 2 different roms and none worked... its like im missing something.
I root the device, unlock bootloader... set the recovery with cwm... flash the rom... and it goes to moto logo and then black screen... am i missing something?
I did the exact same for the stock rom and it did work... also i did it all exactly the same using now myth tools... so any ideas? Should i leave the phone alone because its just simply not going to work or am i missing anything?
