[Q] Guaranteed update changed? - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
Someone knows why Motorola changed the text on the presentation page of Moto G (2nd Gen.)?
They said that Moto G 2nd Gen. would get the lollipop, but now they say that there is, at least, one software update of 4.4.x.
It makes no sense!

May be it is because the Moto G 2nd Gen users started annoying the Motorola Customer Care about Lollipop which is why they popped the Lollipop bubble with that message.
In other words they are probably saying, "Surprise users you aren't getting the Lollipop till mid 2015"

Nope that highlighted sentence still says we will get at least one update to the current KitKat that is already on the device, technically this could mean we could only get one update to say 4.4.5 (if that existed) but it means that we will get 5.0 (and hopefully another to 5.0.1 or higher to iron out all the bugs ).
Although I do see how you read it as it would get an update to 4.4.x, but it actually reads it will get at least one update from its starting point of 4.4.x.

Lollipop update?

I just got an update pushed to my phone. First is it lollipop? Second, should I accept it? Like will it destroy having root or anything again?
I figured I'd post in general just so there could be a spot for discussion about it.
What version of Android are youon? 4.4.2 or 4.4.4? If the latter then it possibly could be Lollipop. What's the size of the update? A lot more info is needed.

It isn't Lollipop. Just installed the update. To be honest the only change I've noticed is that I now have the Uber app. That might have been there before and I never noticed though.

I was unable to update my note 3 but the size was 469 mb or something close to that.

Seems like will get WiFi after all !

Lg Holland (LG BENELUX) Claims the got confirmation from LG R&D in Korea that the GWR will get WiFi in the 5.1.1 update ! :
http://androidworld.nl/wearables/lg-g-watch-r-krijgt-wel-wifi-android-wear-51/
Translated :
"LG Benelux received confirmation from R&D in South Korea"
This makes sense to me seeing as :
1. The GWR has a Broadcom BCM4343WKUBG (Same as Urbane) - Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi b/g/n, it only NEEDS ONE ANTENNA to function for BT and WiFi..
2. The GWR is FCC certified for wifi, can't get a certification without an Antenna.
3. Google probably already told manufacturers about wifi a year ago, hardware isn't developed in a month or two...(The all sign NDA).
However, We shall wait and see...

Since the hardware is same.We can flash Urbane image to enable.Or better,a tot is better. No modem, efs, calibration value anyway.

Go Pittsburgh:good: I would second this but due to sideloading the earlier version I do not get the OTA unless I Odin back to 5.1.1

A song parody about Android.

So I've stumbled upon a lyric page for a song parody about Android Lollipop set to the tune of Millie Small's "My Boy Lollipop". Thought I'd give it a sequel of sorts, especially as the A7-30 GC tab I use caps out at Lollipop no thanks to Lenovo, so here it is:
Stuck on Lollipop, the kernel source ain't showing up
For my outdated handy
Not so fine and dandy
Whoa, oh, stuck on Lollipop
Hardware maker's lazy
Or partition's tiny
Just adds to the woes
In US some telcos are late or slow, and software update's no go
And more so with knockoffs or little-known's, of which new firmware's no show
Stuck on Lollipop, no point to this, I'm giving up
Unlike the Kindle Fire
Or let alone Desire
Stuck on this Lollipop
*harmonica solo*

How can I keep my T-Mobile V40 on Android 9?

Okay, so Android 10 comes out and completely destroys my phone. I purposely got an audiophile LG phone...only to have forced Android 10 neuter some of that prowess. In addition I think I have a corrupt build and I've had all sorts of problems with it from Battery to reception.
Needless to say, TM is replacing the phone which should be back on Android 9 when I get it. Does anybody in this group know how I can KEEP it there and prevent a force carrier update? Obviously can't root a carrier-branded phone...so i plan to login as safe mode without SIM to get to developers options....
Will simply setting "no updates" there prevent this from happening? Somehow I doubt it's that easy....
Of course the new T-Mobile phone comes in and it's already on Android 10. So I searched again and finally find an unlocked "TA" model still on 9. In fact it may be the first V40 phone ever made judging by the security date
Before I set it up on the wireless or especially put in the SIM, I "disabled update" in developers options...so now I have to figure out how to update the security side of it without updating operating system side of it!
At least I finally found one on 9 cuz that was quite a search these days.
