When are they rolling out VoLTE?
I hardly ever talk on the phone so no effect hefe
When I'm playing a hand of poker and get a call..... **** Verizon.
It's annoying to get a phone call while playing Ingress... used to be able to talk to my wife on speakerphone with my OG Moto X while playing with no data interruption. Pretty frustrating, though I have yet to test it since receiving Lollipop.
I never receive incoming calls. When I have to dial into a conference call for work away from home I'll usually use Google voice so I can still tether my laptop.

I've been searching to see if you can use the hero to make calls over wifi like T-Mobile UMA service. I had to move to a very low sprint coverage area and can afford to move to Verizon (the only service that reaches my house clearly). Their plans are to rich for my family blood lol. Any help would be nice.
google voice has an option to call from your pc ,it will use your anytime minutes though if your not on unlimited.
So basically I will use my computer to make phone calls and not my phone? If I understand right I'm cool with that I think. Just suck to have drop calls and a high phone bill because I have to make long distance calls

Right, you use the computer to make and recieve calls.I just set up google voice myself so I havent used this feature yet but the link tells you about it and how to do it.
edit:Ive set it up and tried google voice using the computer.Works fine!
Friend is wanting to get a phone but really doesn't have a lot of money. I was wondering if their was a way to setup an android phone to use google voice for incoming and outgoing calls when he is connected to wi-fi. It doesn't have to be a hero but just any kind of android.
Nope. Google Voice isn't pure VoIP as far as a cell phone is concerned. It still uses your cell phone minutes. It does implement SMS text messaging over data, though, so there is no need for a text plan.
There is a way to set up Google Voice to not use any of your cell phone minutes, but it requires a "Friends and Family"-type plan where you get free calls to certain numbers that you specify. But plans that include that feature are usually a little more expensive than a basic cell plan.
So I have had my Turbo for about ten days. Other than not having two way data has anyone notice issues on making phone calls and quality? I have max 4g lte bars as soon as I dial out it switches to 1x. Then I noticed people say they are losing me in conversations.
Now then same calls with my Droid maxx same location no issues.

I get the same thing too! I hate it but it's because you can't use data and call on this phone.
I get that too. AC podcast says that when Verizon rolls out voice over LTE it should fix everything
You will loose your data signal until VZW sends out the update to support VoLTE. That's why it's dropping to 1X. Mine just drops the symbol completely, so I just get a blank spot when I make a call. I've heard it'll be out by the end of the year. If it doesn't come out soon, I'll have to switch to the G2 until it does come out.
The maxx just got it'd update to ims&volte. Turbo should get it soon, probably with the lollipop update .

There is a work-around. Install Google hangout. Install Google hangout dialer. Sign up for Google voice if you don't have an account. Install Google voice. Now you can use hangout to make and receive calls over data when you must also have internet for vpn or other reasons. It works surprising well.

Except google voice would not be optimized like volte. Also it would count against your data and you will be using a GV number and not your cell.

Unfortunately it won't be. It is going to be a separate update which we are supposed to get before the new year.

strange indeed
Phone calls on Verizon still go over the 1x network (and they ALWAYS have.) I am guessing that the radio can't work in multiple modes at the same time (hardware limitation) but that is just speculation on my part. Pretty stupid really considering most LTE phones can do it already, but maybe it was just something with no priority as the Lollipop upgrade will most likely ad VoLTE anyway and make it a moot point.
Is anyone still having this problem? I can't make or receive calls the last few hours. It drops to 1G, just says dialing but won't ever connect when trying to call out. If I try to call myself from another phone it says I haven't set up my voicemail box yet (I've had this phone for over a month, and set it up back when I first got it). The phone worked fine a few hours ago. I'm not sure where to start fixing the problem. Any help would be great!
I usually have only a 3G signal where I live and the route to and from has one area of a very weak signal. My Razr HD Maxx would always drop a call there. My New Droid Turbo with HD voice on drops calls in that same weak signal area and sometimes at home I drop calls or can’t even make a call. I have confirmed when I turn HD voice off, no problems. Is it just me or is this normal because the phone needs 4G for the HD calling to work?
Thanks,
Ken
Normal. We have no fallback network with VoLTE.

Yup. Verizon themselves recommend shutting off the feature until you're in an area with good LTE coverage. Furthermore if you know you'll be on a call while driving to a 3G area don't start the call with voLTE, they're not doing handoffs from voLTE > 3G and the call will drop.
I've been pleasantly surpised by how robust VoLTE is here in Salt Lake. On Monday, I travelled 30 miles on the freeway, from Salt Lake County to Utah County, and maintained a phone call the entire 35 minute drive. Crossing the county line has historically had drop issues, although Verizon wasn't as affected as AT&T. No problems on VoLTE!
VoLTE is really starting to piss me off. Every call sounds like sheet, my google voice is broken, i drop calls and my network extender thing i got from verizon doesn't work with VolTE.
So, my choices are to have sheet service or to not have data and voice at the same time.. Score 1 for Verizon, they got me this time with the Turbo. Should have went a different route but, my last phone was toast and I had to get something
Call quality sucks, but my Google voice is just fine.

There should be a built in thing Verizon does so that if you are at, say, 2 bars or lower it kicks off to non advanced calling. Turning it off and on all the time is stupid. Also, turning it on and off each time breaks GV.. so who is going to set that up 15 times a day as you move in and out of good 4g? I realize they don't really care that I use GV but, I do..lol

to me it feels like advance calling is still in alpha stage. I have it off right now till i see it gets better
My Google Voice stopped working as well. Uninstalled, reinstalled and set up forwarding again and everything is fine. Just follow the GV guide and things will be right as rain
HD Voice calling it's just not there yet.
This is my experience with Verizon's Galaxy S6 64GB sapphire black HD calling. I've had to disable the feature because of drop calls. Below I'm including what I've posted in other forums discussing the HD voice calling and my experience when I contacted Verizon wireless tech support.
"Verizon is aware of the HD voice/video feature being the culprit of the dropped calls, they are blaming Samsung for not pushing an update to correct the problem. Meanwhile Samsung has said that the feature is a Verizon software. I was told by their tech support that it has been reported that there's a 50% dropped call increase using the galaxy S6 while having the HD voice/video feature on, this was 2 weeks ago. The agent said they have a search tool like Google search, this is internal and that's where he found this information.
You can not make calls and surf the web without the HD voice/video feature on, but turning this feature off will STOP THE DROPPED calls. Verizon's software side for galaxy S6 does not allow you to make calls on the 4G LTE network when the HD voice/video feature off, instead is shows 1x.
I have been in touch with Verizon wireless tech support for the last 3 weeks now, this past week Verizon has been sending me texts to update me on the progress of my ticket. I've had Samsung tech support in conference call with Verizon tech support; during this call that lasted more than 3 hours Verizon admitted that it wasn't a Samsung problem but Verizon's. As soon as the tech from Samsung hanged up the call because we were told that I would have to call their engineering department to further assist us. Before the Samsung tech agent hung up the call we had asked if I could make calls using the 4G LTE and was told to hold up while he researched this question. As soon as the Samsung tech agent left the conference call the Verizon tech answered no, and proceeded to make a complete 360 on answers he gave prior to the Samsung agent leaving the call, saying that the problem was not a Verizon but Samsung problem, even though moments before he said that it wasn't a Samsung problem to me and the Samsung tech support agent but Verizon's. I was also advised by the Verizon tech agent that if I wanted to, I could JAIL BRAKE my Galaxy S6 and download a software to disable the HD voice/video feature without losing the 4G LTE but that it probably still won't work properly. I told this agent that I've never jail broken a device and don't plan on because this is clearly a Verizon feature not working properly.
Not even 5 minutes after ending the call with Verizon's tech support, a supervisor from Verizon called me to tell me again that this is a Samsung issue not Verizon, he said that Samsung needs to push a SW version update to fix the problem with the HD voice calls dropping. He asked what I wanted, I said to get the Galaxy S5 and return this phone, but that I was told by 2 different stores (Rockville Centre NY, and Merrick NY both in Long Island) that if I wanted to return this phone or exchange for a different one I would be charged a 40% restocking fee even though I was within my 14 days. I was told by the tech before the supervisor called that it was at each store's discretion whether they charged you a restocking fee or not. I was told to consider this mater resolved by the supervisor, that they will get in touch with the store so I can return the phone and if in fact there are any fees I would be refunded in some sort of credit; but all I've received all of last week is text messages letting me know they are still working on my ticket."
I am in an unlimited data contract with Verizon and have been using Hangouts for my incoming and outgoing calls for the last 1.5 years because I prefer to use Hangouts/Google Voice for various reasons.
Today I tried placing a call through Hangouts on my VZW data connection and instead of the standard Hangouts dialing sound, I got a standard dialing "tone", followed by "Thank you for choosing Verizon Wireless. Your call can not be completed as dialed".
It seems like they are no longer allowing calls through Google Hangouts. Outgoing calls is all I have confirmed at this point.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Nexus 6 running Stock Lite ROM (6.0.1), stock kernel, May security update bootloader and radio.

sounds like your unlimited data might just be limited. anyways, its worth giving verizon a call, to find out. hangouts dialer works fine here on my nexus 6, with tmobile. both incoming and outgoing.
i turned off my wifi and made a call over 3G on verizon and it rang like a normal ring, and the call went through.
