So I am currently in the process of trying to flash a recovery drive onto my samsung galaxy mini however whenever i connect my phone in download mode my computer says windows can not recognise the device however it recognises my device when in all other modes. I have tried re installing drivers factory and resetting my phone several times. Please help if you know how! Thanks
P.s. I have attached a picture of the message i am given.
So maybe you don't install driver phone yet , right ?
---------- Post added at 04:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:05 PM ----------
Or should maybe try restart your computer to give all drivers read properly into your system computer .
thanks but didn't help
Thanks for the advice but it didn't work, p.s. what do you mean about not installing drivers yet, they are required
Also the problem is that my computer detects the phone but can't read it essentially

My case is the same. I can get only into Download Mode.
... Until now I have successfully installed any version from 6 to 11, using SAMSUNG USB Driver for Mobile Phones.
Today I flashed Build 12 and Google Apps (v7.1). Then I made WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition) and my GT-I9000 stuck at the boot screen... It is impossible to get into Recovery Mode. I can get into Donwload Mode ! But when I connect my phone via USB and via Odin - my PC cannot recognise the "unknown device". OK, new drivers.
I tried "Galaxy Nexus" driver : Samsung_USB_Driver_for_Moblie_Phones_v1_4_6_0.exe - unsuccessfully - my PC cannot recognise the "unknown device" again.
I installed "Google USB Driver for Windows" (revision 4) with Android SDK and AVD Manager. But my computer's
"Device Manager" cannot "Update Driver Software" - it displays an error : "Code 10" (The device cannot start).

Fortunately, after couple hours of reading on SGS forums,
I found simple solution of the problem:
At first, I installed again regular "Samsung Galaxy S USB Driver": (drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x86-Download-96692.html) and did not used the Google USB driver (for my GT-I9000)!
Second, after changing the USB port on my computer, I did what I read here, in a post from "westy": "...Remove USB cable. Put phone into download mode. Plug USB into phone and then into computer and hopefully Odin picks it up as it did with mine."
(samsunggalaxysforums.com/showthread.php/2530-USB-connection-not-recognized-by-computer/page2)
It works !
Hi all,
I booted my Galaxy Note to ClockworkMod recovery mode and plug-in to Windows, but Windows didn't recognize my Note. I tried to point to usb drivers of Android SDK and Kies but it didn't work.
My Note is on Android 4.0.3, Open Germany firmware, CF-Root kernel.
Please help. I need to to run adb shell.

You may need to install the Sammy Drivers. If you install Kies 3 it will do it for you.
I have installed the latest Samsung drivers tried 3 or 4 different cables still no luck.
Well your best bet would be an att service center or Samsung experience booth at best buy

Back when our phones had jellybean, I did the exact same thing. I deleted my stock rom without installing a replacement. BIG NO NO!
Anyway, to get your phone recognized, I would install kies 3, then tools > reinstall device driver. Do this with the phone connected in download mode.
Next I would use the files found here to reinstall the stock kk rom using Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/n900aucucnc2-odin-files-t2838117
There is a guide on YouTube entitled "AT&T Note 3 MLG Restore Part 1" that should walk you through the process.
Please let me know if this helped.
Edit: I noticed that my fellow XDA members have recommended the same thing (except for telling kies to reinstall the drivers) As a last ditch effort, I would try a different pc running a different operating system (especially if you're using Windows 8).

I took this from thedroidguy dot com.
"First Solution: This is the recommended way to make any Samsung device, in this case the Galaxy Note 3, get detected by the computer without a problem: download and install KIES. Depending on your connection, the download process may take several minutes to complete but the installation won’t take a minute. Installing KIES into your computer mean installing all necessary USB drivers as well. You can download KIES from here.
Second Solution: If you’ve already installed the KIES into your computer and it still refuses to detect the phone, reboot it and try again. If the problem persists, uninstall KIES, reboot the computer and plug the phone in. Let the computer detect the device as a general storage then install KIES again. This time, it would work.
Third Solution: If you don’t want to install KIES to your computer, you can download just the drivers. They are packed into one package and compressed to only have around 25 megabytes. You can find the download link from here.
Fourth Solution: There is also what they call the universal ADB driver that would make any Android device detectable by the computer once it’s installed. The driver was built by clockworkmod team and can be downloaded from their website."

Well if the phone is in download mode, and Odin is up to date, then it has to be a driver issue. My pc always acts like it's recognizing my devices, but then it screws with the drivers to where nothing works.
Thanks for all the help I don't know what will work but I will continue to try everyone's advice and hopefully something works for me. At this time I can only use the for rom slots in safe strap. Phone works great other than I am unable to use full storage space of the note 3
It might be too late to help but i had to uninstall all the drivers from the PC then put my phone in download mode, then plug it in to the pc and it would install the drive and work maybe?
Or pull your sd card our and copy over a rom to it then put it back in and boot and flash?
i used kingo root in PC to root the phone , then after when i reboot the phone, it was stuck with the logo fore ever..
then i unlocked the boot loader and then flashes it with kitkat stock firmware..
then downloaded the lollipop update in the phone , after installing it the phone didn't booted ..
i cant boot it manually, cant go to fast boot mode ..
it is just dead...
what can i do ..plz help.

Just a few general ideas - probably won't help but you never know:
Leave it charging for several hours and then see if you can access fastboot
Try a different PC (including one that you've never plugged your phone into before, one with a different Windows version, etc.) to see if you can get it to recognise the phone as qhslk bulk
Try plugging the device into your PC using a different USB cable to see if you can get it to recognise the phone as qhslk bulk
Have a look around the web on guides for restoring a hard-bricked Moto G 2014 (specific model, type, etc.). This probably won't work but anything is worth a try. You could try following these on different PCs, with different USB cables, etc.
I think this problem was caused by trying to downgrade your phone to KitKat
Hope you get it working
How to roll back to stock and lock back the bootloder. I have twrp olso. Thanx

It's like there's instructions already.
I am able to make a reset and get into download mode by adb. When the device is on. But when I give the update command in adb. He tells me he's waiting on the phone. As if he didn't recognize a connected device. What's the malfunction?
You need to point device manager to the same android driver while phone is in bootloader mode. Their flash all script uses fastboot, which is the executable it uses to talk to the phone while in fastboot/bootloader mode. Your PC sees it as a different device while in this mode.

You also need to install the same driver for adb while phone is on. You may also see a prompt on phone to trust the PC it's connected to.
