My Moto G 2nd Gen's speakers sometimes don't stop playing the track (on Google Play Music) even if I paused it.
I tried another media player app (Sony Walkman) there also happens the same problem.
Sometimes I am unable to hear from the receiver speaker.
Please give some tips to solve these issues.
Thanks

Sounds like a software related problem. Did you try doing a factory reset? If a Factory Reset didn't help, try clean installing the Stock ROM.
Yes i tried

Yes friend I tried resetting my device still same thing happens.....
And reinstalling the stock rom needs root access?
And how to get it done?
Sadly, then replacement is the only option that I can see.
Please can anyone gimme a tip or trick to solve this issue

I bought my Incredible S from Virgin Mobile Canada last summer (I live in Turkey). I've got a weird problem for about a week: there is no sound! When I play videos on Youtube, when I play games, when I plugged in the headphones, when the phone is supposed to ring (there is only vibration)... there is no sound when the phone is turning on, as well.
It happened suddenly and it didn't fall down on the ground recently.
Another weird thing is: when I accept a call / or call someone, the speaker is automatically on and I have to turn it off. The speaker is working well on phone calls by the way.
I checked almost everything in the settings, and everything seems normal. I don't think it's about the hardware but I want to ask you about this problem.
Software Info: [I haven't rooted or done anything to my phone, I use it as its first day settings (yeah, even the Android version, don't ask why, I can't receive any updates for one year for some reason and it's killing me!)]
Android version -> 2.3.3
HTC Sense Version -> 2.1
Baseband V. -> 20.2805.30.08AU_3805.04.03.27_M
Thank you for your help.
I got rid of automatically turning on problem of speaker. I managed to hear the sound in the opening scene as well (after I took the battery off - 1 minute wait - and place it again).
But I have still no sound. Is there a possiblity of blown speaker? How can I test if it is blown or not? If it is blown, would the headphones still be working?

Blown speakers shouldn't have any affect on your headphone jack.
Sorry I couldn't help you any further
EDIT: this might sound silly but is your phone on silent?
Did you check all volumes i.e; Ringer, Notification, Media, Voice, System.
There are more but I think these are all the relevant ones.
Just check if any of these are set down to mute
Hit Thanks if I helped

Thank you for the info. I've just made a factory reset, but nothing has change (plus I lost my SMS archive, since I forgot to backup them! :crying
Factory reset can't solve the situation. Any other suggestions? It's really annoying! Still no voice! But there is voice when the phone is turning on... And no voice with the headphones as well. I don't think it's a blown speaker situation... What can I do? It's really urgent!

Hi,
Any progress of your sound problem ?
I have an exact problem. Phone speaker suddenly stop working. No ring tone (can't hear incoming call), can't play music, can't hear from headset. But the power up sounds ok , when the HTC logo came up. Tried restart and all sort of setting to no avail. However, I can hear the speaker rings when I call someone and speak to hear them normally.
Very frustrating. Have not done factory reset yet ... that will be the last resource ...

Hi,
I made the official Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update and later I have noticed that no voice comes from the speaker. After the update I have been able to listen music several times but the speaker was not working when bellringing and later the speaker became not working.
The bell ring was not a standard melody (android melodies i mean). I changed it to the standard "over the horizon" melody. The speaker started to operate againg. I reset to the first not standard melody the speaker crashed and from then on i can hear no voice from the speaker.
By the way, there is no problem at earphones. Whenever i unplug the earphones, the music player goes to pause mode.
The hardware check utility ( *#0*# I mean) also gives no symptom and behaves as if it is working properly. I don't think this is a hardware problem but i also don't know how to solve this.
Waiting for your help immediately.
Thanx in advance for your help.

First and most importatnt thing after going from 2.3.6 to 4.1.2 i to do FACTORY RESET. Do it in recovery, and share what happend after.
Ofcourse you will loose data like SMS, contacts, instaled apps... So backup it before doing factory reset.

I recovered the speaker sound. came and went again. It started to work but with a high volume sound it went again with a sizzle. It's probably a driver problem...

I don't think it to be a hardware problem. Rather, it looks to be a driver problem or OS limitation.
Has anyone encountered a call bug where I can't hear the other end and they can't hear me? I've noticed it lately and I don't know if it's related to the recently released kitkat update. I've cleaned installed the update numerous times to no avail. A temporary work around is turning off the phone and rebooting and calling back but it doesn't always work. This is what makes me feel it's a software bug as apposed to a hardware failure.

Take a data backup and do a factory reset.
If that does not resolve issue flash stock firmware using flashtool

I had the same issue after unlocking the bootloader/rooting and installing furnace kernel, so I switched to the stock kernel and the problem is still there (from time to time). The only solution I've came across is to reboot the phone. Any other idea would be appreciated.

But when we flash the stock firmware, doesn't it fully replace every kind of customization? If this problem doesn't get resolved soon I would have to sell my Moto G.
Check this threads, it seems to be a problem since the previous model. Looks like motorola suggest us to clear the cache partition.

Lets discuss this problem here, we shouldn't hijack the Furnace thread.
I followed the Cache cleaning instruction you gave, it didn't have any Dalvik cleaning method.
The problem still exists after clearing "Cache" only.

Just to make sure, you do understand that my problem doesn't involve "Not getting any sound", the person on the other end of the phone hears his voice a split second before they hear mine. Somehow their own voice bounces back to them along with my voice.
I still tried the method on the youtube video which is why I am posting 2 hours later.
Sadly, it didn't work. I tried calling my Moto G number from another number and from the other end I could hear my own voice repeating.:crying:

I know, I had the same exact problem when I flashed the kernel. Had notification sounds, music, speakers working alright, but every time I wanted to make a call there was no dial tone and no sound in my phone (the other person was able to hear me tho). What I did was restoring to stock kernel (I made a backup in TWRP before flashing Furnace), then did a wipe cache/dalvik cache. I can only recommend you to do a hard reset and try to install a factory firmware.
Pd. There's a bug that worths the shot checking. Go to settings → Sound → Audio Effects → Turn them off → Reboot.

Actually your problem is different than mine. I can hear dial tone and even the person on the other end of the phone clearly. But people on the other end of the call can you both their own voice and my voice.
So if they say "Hi" and right after it I say "Hello", they would first hear their own voice which is "Hi" and then my "Hello"
From my end their is no problem.
My Moto G is sending back both the incoming and my own audio data through the mic. The phone is only supposed to send only my voice to the other end.
I just tried having a conversation with a "headphone with mic" and I didn't have this problem. So it seems this is a hardware problem.
I chatted with Motorola customer care and they told me to return the phone for replacement.

Hello there,
I have had a problem for a couple of weeks now. My XZ1C does not recognize any earphones. I hear a faint sound when I plug them, then it displays a warning saying something like "Earphones not recognized. Check Sony's website for help".
It may be related to a previous update, but the last one (47.2.A.10.28) did not change anything. Using the "secure mode" of Android doesn't help either.
I cleansed the port and had an external look using binoculars and fiber-optics light, everything seems all right.
Does anybody have a clue ?

Perhaps start the phone in safe mode to see if it's a bit of rouge software that's causing the issue. Have you installed any apps recently?
Might be worth trying a repair with Xperia companion.
But repair will factory reset the phone, so make a backup with Xperia transfer, then you have a way of getting back to where you were.
Thanks for your answer ! I tried safe/secure mode, yes. I'll try the repair with Xperia Companion

Obviously you have tried a different pair of headphones?
Are you saying that they worked before the update and not after?
Have you tried going into the service menu and testing with the Earphone option.
type *#*#7378423#*#* on the phone dialer, from the service menu, select Service Tests\Earphone.
Yeas, I tried with other headphones. And these headphones work well with other devices.
As for last update, I mean that it did not resolve the problem. As far as I recall, the problem MAY come from the previous update, but I'm not sure (and the fresh install did not solve the problem, so....).
I did the Earphone test. It plays some music over the loudspeakers, but the earphones remain silent.
