Hey guys, just got my nexus 6 yesterday and I noticed I have the pink tint issue only when I'm using adaptive brightness, its not a big deal for me but once kernels get gamma control support would we be able to fix this issue? just curious if its fully a hardware problem or software.
Also I don't if this has been answered already but why does the brightness go so much lower when adaptive brightness is on?
Any insight would be great, thanks!
I'm wondering the same thing! And what's the difference on battery comparing adaptive brightness on vs off aswell
If I turn my brightness way down it turns pinkish.

ElementalX kernel has gamma control capabilities if you use the app for the kernel. It works great.

The nexus 6 is made to do this. It was explained before the phones release although I forget the link I read it on.

ElementalX has color control like other kernels but no kernels have gamma control yet.
That being said. I found running the device on the cooler side ~7400K reduces the pinkish hue seen in dark rooms on lower brightness with adaptive display

True enough. Was thinking one in the same.

Hello, I was wondering if there is a custom rom with gamma control built in? I'm just so frustrated with this blacking clipping issue, I wish I could change the gamma level some how... :/ I have heard couple apps that does this but uses CPU and doesn't work on videos
Thank you
In ParanoidAndroid there is a setting "Outdoor Mode" It is not exactly what you looking for but it makes gamma a bit higher.
CM9 has it, but it's not yet working. There is also Outdoor Mode available - exactly like in Paranoid rom mentioned by Abagnale.
Thanks guys, I guess there is no way to lower the gamma level I can't believe there is no fix for this black crush issue since the release of gnote /sigh

ya currently is looking for something like this too.

galaxy note needs this gamma control.
Regards.
There is an app called Display Tester which shows if your display is calibrated well. It shows you colors with many different shades of those colors. Basically, when the colors switch nicely and smoothly and each shade has its own visible box it means your screen is well calibrated. There's also gamma stuff which is important.

damn some lines are still present on banding test
That's what I'm saying. We got a long way to go. Also a lot of the blocks are indistinguishable meaning some values are off. By lines you mean those dark horizontal lines right? I have them too

Same here, you can fix the colours but not gamma yet.

and the last visible box on "black saturation box" test was #2
I don't care about that, as long as it looks good to me

Me too, the problem arises when we have to develop and test (i.e. apps or web) on a 'miscalibrated' display. Apart from that it's all good.
Thank you all you guys, for your effort and discoveries. Although we don't have a definitive solution yet, just knowing it make things coherent.

Might do a test later and see if there's any difference on stock jwr 4.3 kernel compared to 4.2.2
I will use a custom 4.3 kernel with gamma control with 4.2.2 values to compare with.
So can you guys tell me what methods of altering color settings there are besides the old [0-255]Red,Green,Blue. And amp0 amp1. This is all I have using trickstermod and Matr1x 4.3 kernel. Are there currently any other WORKING methods to alter colors? I heard something about faux and gamma.:cyclops:
well theres some calibration kernel released.theres also faux clock and franco app which lets you calibrate the display.but some people said that calibrating will do damage to screen and posibbly burn the screen.

This.
Yep just up the colour intensity a little but not so far that skin tones look like radiation burns (folks do get carried away) and you are good to go.
Thats the app i used to find my optimal settings. Modified ceejays (i think its in the spreadsheet/francos app - i increased contrast to "2" from "0" to get gamma 2.2) settings to get 2.2 gamma on RBG and very minimal (hardly visible) banding. Infact, the banding is not worse that stock settings. Colors look absolutly fantastic compared to dull/washed out 1.6 (?) gamma stock settings.
i'm f**king colorblind, so it doesn't matter to me what you "regular" people see...my colors are awesome
It looks like the whites in my Nexus 6 is much better(as in less yellowish) after the Marshmallow update.
Just wanted to know if anyone else noticed it or me just hallucinating.
did you update through the normal System Updates? or custom rom ?
I kinda felt this as well on cataclysm marshmallow. It come with stock kernel (with supersu tweaks).
Via normal system update.

I've noticed this too. Others have told me the same thing. Also I think the salmon/pink color is less noticeable at low brightness. You can still see it, but its not as bad as it was on Lollipop
I have always noticed this and worked around it with color controls and a compatible kernel. i know that's really not the correct answer but i have 2 other people at my work with nexus 6 and they don't notice it but since mine is customized i do. i don't get why google doesn't just build in the controls to make it the way you prefer it. flash a custom kernel with color control and you can tweak it all to your prefered liking. i was able to get the whites near perfect using the nexus 9 as the comparison. you also can then tweak it however you like. at low brightness though, it still gets that pinkish color.
Hello
I think that there is something wrong with my nexus 6 vibration.. It feels and sounds awkward. It's louder than my ringtone...
Do you guys have the same problem?
How can I lower the intensity?
Can the vibration piece be replaced?
Thank you!
Mine also is abnormally loud and sounds like it's rattling around in there.

A lot of custom kernels support adjusting the vibration strength, then just use kernel auditor.

I'm on elemental X kernel. I Can't find vibration intensity control on kernel auditor.. I know it should be under misc but it's not there!

Sounds like it doesn't support it then. Despair, benzoCore, Blu_Spark, hellsCore, and probably a few others support vibration control. I set mine to 70% and it's still strong enough to feel without being extremely loud or rattly.
Just noticed that my phone's screen looks a bit warmer when compared to another Moto G 2014. Is there a way to make it more "neutral"?

Are you using cm13? If so, there's an option to change this in Settings./Display.

Hm.
Not really sure what to say about that then. Is it really a big deal for you? I have LiveDisplay on my phone set up to automatically adjust color temperature. It's usually a cooler blue during the day and a warmer red at night. It hasn't really been an issue for me.
Yeah you have one of the bad screen batches, but there is also an advantage, D2W is easier to implement on your screen model than the other one, downside is, its yellow, put the turned off display in bright sunlight, see the grid? You have a "second gen" screen batch, you can adjust it if you install a custom kernel and use kernel aduitor there is an option to adjust RBG "amounts" (usually depends on the kernel) CM has that integrated.

Yep, as mentioned, a second batch of screens.

That auto mode never worked for me, tbh. It would only start to change as night fell, never did any change during the day.
And well, it isn't a big deal, but isn't white as it should have been.

Always thought those grid things were Gorilla Glass-related! Good to know that! I'm on latest CM12.1 snapshot, can you suggest a kernel with working dt2w and color control?
