I went to the beach recently with the Xperia Z1 C6903, and after coming back from the beach, the camera on the phone keeps on opening by itself.
I then decided to reboot my phone, through using the power off, turning it back on method, only to discover my phone is now in "safe mode", which disabled me from using my third party apps.
I then proceeded to search the web for a solution; using the clear cache (volume up + power button), and the red button inside the sim card slot, to which none of them worked.
After this, the phone sometimes cannot operate correctly, as the power button is sometimes disabled (as well as the volume down button). The power button issue can be fixed through the red button inside the sim card, however the volume down button does not seem to work.
I tried factory reset, nothing seemed to have happen apart from me losing all my data and apps.
I tried to flash the stock rom, which I have in place on my phone atm, again, through flashtool, but did not seem to get an answer as safe mode is still on, and the volume down button seems to be dead.
Upon further investigation, I realised that the camera function is also affected by the safe mode, as the camera cannot focus on objects, and the camera button on the Z1 is working, but cannot take a picture (can semi-press and use camera's flash via this way).
I am now leaving my phone to dry, assuming that there is still water inside the phone which is preventing the normal function of the volume down button as well as the camera (and sometimes the power) button.
If anyone has a solution, please respond, and :fingers-crossed: I may have this fixed without going to the Sony service store.
Never take phone to beach...Salt +metal= you know the combo
Try to flash full FTF to see if the software is the problems or just open the phone
Or send it to Sony..........
Shutdown the normal way, then turn on.
Safe mode will disappear.
Never heard that the phone were stuck in safe mode even after a full wipe.
i have the exact same issue ,is there any solution please ?
Same exact problem
I have exactly the same problem, if there is any way to help please post it.

I'm wondering if you guys have any fix for my problem
Here it goes :
One click on power button, it does a screen lock.
The problem is that when i hold my power button, it off the phone by itself.
I'm wondering if I want to bring back the menu when you hold the power button down? ( Besides flashing a new rom of course )
ie. Turn Power Off
Enable Flight Mode
Off Data Connection
Silent Mode
on Darkys v4.1 2.2 Froyo
Mine just started to behave like this aswell. Not out of the blue though, something went wrong with a flash and the phone got corrupted. I fixed it by installing a rom again with cwm and restored backups. Phone works fine now (as far as ive tested) except the powerbutton behaves like you describe, it makes the phone vibrate a few times and then reboots, without showing the menu to opt for shutdown and other options. Very frustrating.
Considering the way it happened im pretty sure some sort of corruption is the cause. I think a full flash with odin or heimdall may be needed. Will report back if I find out how to fix it.
Edit: I cwm-flashed extended power menu to restore my powermenu (well, replace it with custom). Still not sure what caused it, I think careless flashing, possibly involving an incompatible package.
So my milestone is Stuck in bootloader.
I have a fair theory on the cause of the problem, i'm here to ask your opinion/advice on what do do now.
My situation is this:
As soon as the battery is inserted, the display immediately powers on, and the phone starts in bootloader mode, displaying the standard 90.73 bootloader text (Bootloader 90.73, Battery OK, OK to Program, Connect USB, Data Cable)
The Bootloader is fully functional (from observation), I can use RSDlite to flash sbf files successfully with no errors.
I Cannot get out of the bootloader into any other software mode (normal or recovery) through any forseeable way.
events that lead up to this problem:
- a few days ago, the camera button became partially defunct, the phone would not register the first stage(focus) of the two stage(focus, shutter) button. I also noticed that for a brief time, the camera button press was registered as a volume down press. ( weird, huh? this seemed to be fixed by a restart )
- following this, the camera button became completely non-functional. the phone would not register any action from the button, and the button would not press down properly ( i suspect the button mechanism came loose? )
- the phone was fine for a day or two, ( with a non-working camera button), until yesterday, when the phone began to function as though the camera button was permanently held down OR being pressed extremely fast - ( camera launching constantly, video camera switching between recordings very fast )
What i did about the latter problem:
- i attempted to delete camera.apk, but i couldn't get to root explorer fast enough before the camera launched again, so i restarted from cm7 into recovery, and attempted to do it via the application management menus.
The camera button was calm for a while, then as i unwittingly forgot that the camera is used as select... it started randomly pressing menus.
(luckily no serious actions were taken, i was in the application management)
I attempted to restart by pressing Shift-Alt-Delete ( because that works in the system - is it a documented restart in openRecovery?)
It restarted into bootloader.
to test the bootloader was working properly, and pre-emptively, i flashed stock 2.1 system & flashed bootloader 90.78, and then back to 90.73.
And that's where I am now.
My theory
the broken Camera button, or whatever piece of circuitry it is attached to is telling the phone that the camera is constantly pressed, or a different button is - I mentioned earlier that it's function swapped with "volume down" temporarily when it first broke.
I think that this could be causing the phone to start in bootloader at each start-up.
( if this is the case, which it may not be... i assumed that i might be able to replace the button parts from another phone in mine. is this practical)
tl;dr ... phone stuck in bootloader, i think it's because the camera button is broken & malfunctioning. suggestions plz
thanks in advance, sorry for the essay.
My Fiancee's G1 wont turn on at all,No T-mobile slpash screen or nothing.LED lights turn on and Call,Home,Back and Power buttons light up except for the screen itself her phone wasnt rooted,I have never experienced this before.
Can someone please help?
the phone is not turning on via the power(end) button???
try pressing the camera button and keeping it pressed, also press the power button to enter into hboot mode...if u succeed in entering that mode, the phone is fine, or else it could be bricked.
Try Home+Power see if you can get into recovery mode.
If you can wipe cache data.
Hi everyone, hope it's okay to post this here since this Question relates to mine.
I'm having a trouble like this except instead it's like my backlight went out, it was working fine until my alarm on my phone went off and when I went to turn it off I had to take the battery out of my phone because the screen wasn't pulling up. It flashed basically, so when I put the battery in the screen came on but no backlight. Could it be due to Cyanogen? I'm restoring my backup to see what else could I try?
could u be a bit more specific?phone is working??? calls etc???or are u stuck somewhere????
As I said, the screen came on but no backlight. The phone works fine except for the backlight I'm trying to figure out if it's a hardware issue or a software issue. I don't know how much more specific I can get really except that the only way to see the screen is to hold it at a certain angle so the light hits it just right.
Hey,
So basically, my volume down button doesn't work since it got flooded with my contact lens solution as I stupidly spilled it over the table where my phone was chilling. With this, my phone constantly boots into the bootloader, as if the volume button was being pressed normally. The only way to counter-act this is to hold the volume up button when booting, which leads to booting into safe mode. And in safe mode, no third-party apps can be used.. so my phone is pretty much a Nokia with a fancy, purple-tinged camera.
I think this is the end of the line, what do you guys think? Is there a way to get this problem fixed? I'm pretty sure warranty is out of the question due to water-logging as well as being heavily-modified.
halp pls

If you can get to bootloader, why don't you just select "reboot". If it doesn't go into the normal OS then you will have to get the buttons fixed. In fact, you really need to get the buttons fixed or you will not be able to do anything with your phone.
Hi Guys
My Samsung M20 phone is stuck in safe mode. It has been 3 years since I bought this phone and because of that, I think the power button is not working. Also since the phone is stuck the screen controls are not working. But before this problem occurred the power button worked very well. I followed some guidelines and tried everything I could to fix this problem. But still, I cannot change the mode to the regular one. To fix this I did,
01. Pressed and held the power button for over a minute, but the option didn’t pop up. (Seems that the button is not working or something else)
02. Screen is not responding to touch.
03. Since the power button is not responding I cannot use the physical method to turn off the safe mode.
I am planning to take this phone to a repair shop. Is there anything I can do from my end to fix this other than going to a repair shop? (I am afraid to let the phone off because of the malfunctioning power button)
