Hello,
How can i delete Carrier IQ? I found the following two files in /system/priv-app
IQ-tmobile-release-unsigned.signed_TMO.apk
IQ-tmobile-release-unsigned.signed_TMdex
Are there any other files related to carrier IQ which needs to be deleted?
Thanks
We have carrier IQ on our phone?

It does show up in Better Battery Stats as a wakelock. So indeed it is there.

Stock might have it. Best way to get rid of it is to flash a custom Rom. Or use root browser to uninstall/delete the files.

The title really says it all - If I use a custom ROM like Cognition for example, do I lose the ability to freely use the ~20,000 (their claim) at&t wifi hotspots? I believe the stock ROM has wifi access info hard coded - Not sure if ROM creators managed to port that over... THanks.
Yes You do lose it.
Try the att account app. There is an option to use att wifi. I have not tried it.

That sucks - Does anyone know if this is something that's being worked on? I guess I have to stick to stock, root it and use titanium bkup to remove as much at&t bloat as is safely possible...

How come I was able to use it at Starschmucks the other day? I'll have to test it again though next time I go.
I don't have the app on my phone (rooted, bloatware removed, etc.).
I have used at&t hotspots with no issues. I simply connect to the available wireless network.

No, you don't.
With the ATT hotspot thing I believe you avoid having to go through the log-in page where you agree to their terms and conditions. But you can absolutely log on. You just have to do that first.
Ok so I've rooted my z1 and now I'm wondering which apps are save to delete from device to free up more space.
Is there a list anywhere listing which bloatware is safe to delete?

There are lists, you can just google it.
However, the best thing to do is use an app like titanium backup and then "Freeze" aps. This way you can see if it effects performance or stability before actually uninstalling it. If it goes wrong you can just defrost the app again.

I think you can just disable it from settings->apps

I was wondering the same thing today and just found some lists from other phones. Just hadn't gotten around to asking yet, so thanks.
But this is my first locked bootloader device I've rooted, so was wondering if the bootloader checks any system apps on boot? I assume not, but want to be safe. If the bootloader won't boot, then titanium won't help much to recover
Also, anyone know if tweaking things like the dpi in the build.prop will cause the bootloader to freeze?

Its not a problem deleting system apps and the bootloader. However, deleting system apps can some processes to fail, but the device should always boot.

This may be slightly off topic but did anyone get their Z1's with bloatware in another language that could not be uninstalled? When I got mine, it had a few apps in Polish (I think) that played music and some other things. I could not remove it the normal way. Just curious if anyone else got the same crap I did. I guess it shouldn't be too surprising seeing as how I got the C6903 overseas model. I just didn't think it'd have apps that I couldn't remove.

Noob here, I have searched all over the Forum about Carrier IQ on AT&T's Samsung Galaxy Note 3, " No Luck!"
Anyone find a way to Uninstall Carrier IQ on AT&T's Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N900AUCUBMJ5 without installing custom ROM or Bricking?
I am Rooted, with Kingo,
Used Carrier IQ Detector,
Used Paid version of "Logging Removal Key,
Logging Test App by TrevE which states "Carrier IQ is on my device", Tried to uninstall with Logging Checker by TrevE with no luck!
Found Carrier IQ files located in the following path,
Device\System\\lib\libiq_client.so
Device\System\\lib\libiq_service.so
1st Attempt, Renamed both system files with Root Explorer Pro (W/R Option) and ended up Bricking, Had to Re-Flash!
(I was able to Recover thanks to evilpotatomans thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715)
(A Special Thanks to the Following Donors:
@acdcflame
@lilhacker
@JAKISTER
@royal1262 )
2nd Attempt, Deleted both System files,"BAD MOVE AGAIN!" Bricked, Re-Flashed!
Is or will there be a workaround for the Stock ROM? There are some features that I like but DESPISE the AT&T SPYWARE!
Thanks, Van
Use voodoo carrier iq detector. It shows ciq is not active which means it is turned off.

Voodoo is just a Detector for Carrier IQ, I know it is active and it is logging,
Logging Test App by TrevE Verified the processes but was unable to remove or stop it.
I used Carrier IQ Detector as well as Carrier IQ detector Red Pill.
I am simply looking for a possible work around without installing a Custom ROM at this time.
I want to Kill the Beast and pass along the Fix!

Download and Verify with Carrier IQ Red Pill or Carrier IQ detector from the Play Store.
At this time I have been unsuccessful with removing the Binaries without Bricking!
If I am not mistaken this is tied into the Android System Version 4.3-N900AUCUBMJ5,
as far as I know it cannot at this time be removed unless a Custom ROM is installed.
I am in need of an Dev. to possibly help out

Intub8,
Looks like you are one of the LUCKY ONES!
You probably have an Earlier Build Date.
My Build Date is as follows; Thu Oct 17 18:19:07 KST 2013 (Korean Standard Time)
AT&T said that they are Installing Carrier IQ on ALL of their Devices now!
Thanks for the S.S!

How do you check the build date. I got the phone on Friday the 7th of February at the att store. Only reason I got it was because ciq was inactive on the note 3. I was looking at the g flex but it was alive and running in it. The date you listed is the day that version of the kernel was created. Try disabling all of the att apps that came pre installed.

It's very strange that carrier iq is running on your phone. Are you rooted? You can try system tuner free if your rooted. Install it and go to system and then go to details. Scroll down and Un select all things carrier iq. Reboot and see if that works. I'm not rooted so I can't tell you if it works or not. I know with the g2 ciq was a pain and that's how we disabled it.

Full instructions with pics (must have root)..... get system tuner free by 3c. Install and provide root permissions. Click the red system button and wait for the list to load. Select android system. Scroll down toward the bottom and Un check anything with carrier iq in it. Reboot and all should be disabled. Un enabling certain things can soft brick a phone. Do this at your own risk as always. Pics will come later. Gotta love xda premium app.........

Thanks for the System tuner lead, Nice little app!
Carrier IQ Red Pill shows it but as Inactive.
I did find this link (Thanks to waiters)
How to disable Carrier IQ on a stock (but rooted) phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399429
with code to Possibly disable but, I have not tried it yet.
I think that it is embedded so deep that someone with knowledge of editing the framework-res.apk and all of the AndroidManifest.xml files and to be able to sign it to work is the Question!

Is anyone familiar with this either through flashing a zip or editing build.prop? I have tried a few ro.product.name changes (noblelteatt, trlteatt, etc) with no luck. I like AT&T data icon more than T-Mobiles. Just a preference.

That's an actualicon resource embedded in the ROM somewhere. Realistically, the only way you'd get AT&T's 4G LTE icon is to use the AT&T ROM that comes with the SM-N920A, which can't be done to the best of my knowledge.

anything labeled sprint you can long press on and uninstall, or within apps. if it doesn't have an uninstall option, ignore it.

Hi, thanks. I'd already on the same day of receiving the Sprint bloatware deleted all the apps that I could via uninstall. However, I'd like to know which other apps can be safely disabled, and more importantly are there any services or packages that don't use the words "Sprint" that may not be immediately visible to disable.

look in apps, do you see anything called sprint app pack or appcloud NOT SAMSUNG CLOUD. do you see appstack in apps. rid app pack or appstack. thats a good point to relax after that. do not DISABLE any other sprint app that only has disable or enable. also lookout can be disabled along with fb instagram and messenger.
