Hi guys
as you can see in the attached file, i have a litte issue
a friend of mine dropped the phone and a car runned over it lol...digitizer and lcd are gone but the phone still boot up and it is recognized by the computer. My friend don't care about repairs but he wants the data back and here starts the problems:
-adb is off
-phone is password protected (so no kies and no sdcard reading from pc), phone stay in the "insert password" at startup.
-i don't even know if support mhl to attach on a tv
how can i recover the data? The only idea i have is to dump the rom and load it on an android emulator but i don't even know if its possible. Can someone give me a hint to recover the data? Thank you
1) Buy a replacement screen
2) Get the data
3) Sell fully working phone
...
Profit!
that was my idea...my friend do not approve

Did you try the S-pen to input the password?
i can't get a precise feedback. I think i'm not pressing the correct numbers and after half hour of wasting time i was looking for other options. Does this phone support mhl? If yes, i have to enable in settings or something else?

I dont know qbout mhl, never used it. The phone does support it though.
Another idea might be a usb-otg cable and a keyboard(password entry).
Not sure if that works on a stock rom, but try it.

Hi,
I broke the screen of my samsung note a while back. The glass is okay, it is the inner screen which is showing a little crack when looked at from an angle. The day it broke i was able to see the screen but after 1 day the screen has become completely black. I am not in my home country and hence can not get the screen repaired, and need some of the files from phone really badly. The trouble is I can not unlock the phone, as i am not sure of what is happening on screen.
I tried to recover data but the phone is locked. If i can either turn on the wifi or 3G of my device by some way ( then I can excess the samsungdive application and unlock my phone) or if I can bypass the pattern somehow or can enter it via pc ( like in know there exist some screen monitoring applications for android 2.0 and below) i can enter inside the phone. I have been trying a lot of stuff and I dnt want to blindly reset my phone ( i think if i reset it I should be able to unlock it). Is there any other option anyone can suggest me.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I do not think you can unlock via samsungdive if your phone is not connected to internet. Since my phone is not connected to internet i can not do that via samsungdive.
Thanks

Sorry for not giving full information in last post.
When I connect the phone via usb. It comes as a media device in pc. But when i try to import files or anything it shows nothing available. Also in Samsung kies it comes up as connected but locked. It tells to unlock the device.

I just had the jelly bean update on note. So I am running the default Rom and Kernel ( which should be there after official update). Though I am not that aware about this information.

wasnt your data (2G or 3G) already on? if the data was already on and if you restart the computer it still remains on, moreover there is no harm in trying to unlock from samsungdive. i have lot of ideas coming to my mind but dont know if they would make any sense or may be there is a simple way to do it but i cant think of it.
Hi, I've recently (very recently) updated my S3 Mini to 4.4.4. The problem was that everything was just too small, so I installed "textdroid DPI" from Store and increased my DPI from 220 to 520. Why 520? I Don't know, probably "miss-clicked", it was supposed to be 320.
The thing is that I can't revert to the normal numbers and now everything is inaccessible, I already tried to re install/redo the whole process but it remains with 520 DPI.
What can I do?
I think you should first go to recovery system. Download your current ROM again. Then go to format > advanced and format system (NOTE! : DO NOT REBOOT YOUR DEVICE!! Otherwise your phone will be without a OS system). Then go to "install" and install your ROM again.
You'll not lose any data like SMS or apps.

Thank you, that worked.
One more question, I don't know if I need to open a new post but, anyway, I have a problem with my Wi-Fi connection/antenna but I can't send it back because the plastic screen has a crack and I would have to pay for a new S3 Mini, literally, just to fix it and get the to see what's wrong with the Wireless.
Anyway, the Wi-Fi is kinda unstable because it can't always connect and when it does, I have to be very close to the router/modem to get full wireless power (3 feet more or less).
Because the device is rooted, maybe I messed up with some settings that I shouldn't. But I don't remember what.

Hi everyone
I've tried a search but couldn't find anything specific on this, please forgive me if this has already been covered.
I have an HTC One where the lower section of screen is dead. This means that I can't enter either 0 or return on the PIN screen, which I need to in order to get the data off.
I am not prepared to try a hardware replacement, I am looking for software only right now.
I have rooted phones before (My HTC Desire, Wildfire, Desire Z, etc) so I understand the basic set up with ADB etc - I also have Linux Mint running on my box if needed.
Is there any way I can enter the pin using a USB connection - I know what the PIN is, obviously. Otherwise I guess I'll need to hack round the unlock screen, but I'm not sure how to go about that.
All guidance greatly appreciated! :fingers-crossed:

Maybe with a usb-otg calbe and a usb keyboard? Never tried....
If you already have a custom recovery installed you can access your data using ADB.

Yes you can even use a mouse with a usb-otg adapter
Thanks everyone - I had no idea such cables existed! I've ordered one and will report in with my results. Thanks!
Hi all, thanks for the advice. For anyone in the future looking at this, the UBS-OTG cable worked like a dream - just with a normal USB mouse and keyboard I could get it all fixed. Thank you, I didn't know such things existed before!
So today I dropped my one mini 2 and now the screen stays black. It is still booting fine though.
I was wondering if there's a way to get a VNC-connection to the phone, so I can still "use it" until I fix the display or get a new phone. However, USB debugging is not enabled, so I can't access the device via adb.
I was able to remotely install droid VNC server via play.google.com, but it probably needs configuration that I can't do without a working display.
The phone is currently running [ROM]NostromoPop 2.2.2 (21/12/15)[CM12.1][5.1.1] and TWRP 2.8.5.0.
I am able to boot into the bootloader by hardware key combinations and can access the device with fastboot.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

1- if nothing broken, send to HTC (say its just stop working) they'll fix it for free.
2-open and check cable connection, there's loads so there's a change its a loose one

I guess there's a reason for them to have records of which devices bootloader has been unlocked.. Do they still fix it for free?

Should I try that before sendining to HTC, or will I break warranty seals and loose any hope of getting it fixed by HTC?

look if you open it they will know for sure.
i sent my phone twice...and they repair it for free.
1 for software reinstall
1 for replace charging port ( i just receive it)
there's always a chance they will charge but if too expensive, you can refuse and pay the return postage. That's how it works in UK anyway.
Unfortunately i dropped phone today and screen broken. It is so bad that I cant see anything on phone but phone is working since i can receive phone using headset.
I wanted to take backup but dont know what tool can help me to do it. Please can someone help me to get my data backed to PC.
BTW what would be cost of new display.
Screen Broken - Cant Use - How do I export data?
What an amazing mobile the ROG 2 is.
No complaints really. Though I did drop it and the screen is broken so I am sending it off for a repair (if possible).
I cant use the screen at all, and they told me that the data needs to be wiped before its sent (or they will wipe it anyway).
Any idea how to get data off it, like contacts etc without using the screen?
Thank you all.
Your contacts should sync to your Google account. Go to contacts.google.com to verify they have already synced.

Is there any known software without using the screen?
Use an otg dongle and connect a mouse to the phone, you should be able to click like touch.

I think I am right in assuming that i need to give permission on my ROG to allow screen mirroring on a monitor. But of course I cant do that as I dont have access to the screen.
Am I right or is there a workaround?
Thanks

If you have allowed adb before, you can use adb pull command to copy files to a computer.
Changing the screen wont require data reset, I dont know why they are insisting on wiping the data!
you can also try this and see if it works: connect the phone to a pc and when the phone asks for permission, have a mouse connected to the phone and click the place that the allow button is most probably is.(it's on bottom right corner about a centimeter up and left) if you're set to English that is.
but you have to be able to unlock the screen before that somehow. maybe the fingerprint still works?
And my last option would be to get the screen replacement yourself and do it yourself if the data really matters to you. getting the broken screen off the phone shouldnt be much of problem because it's already broken so what could go wrong right?
and you will just have to apply the new screen with care and proper glue that you can get from a phone shop.
Sure you have fixed by now but incase or if anyone else lands here, You can use USB C TO HDMI (Cable, dongle, etc) and hook it to computer screen,TV. I had adapter and hooked a mouse to navigate. Though very poorly, I could still use touch screen
