[Q] Sometimes shut down wnen take a foto with flash? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
First - sorry for my bad English!
These days I bought used ONE m7.Previous owner told me that the phone was not used for more than a month. Now sometimes, only sometimes, when take a shot with flash the phone shut down. After power ON the battery is with more than 10% lower than before this. Hard reset not solved the problem. Is there a hard- or soft- problem?

Sounds like a failing battery. You can replace it, but it is not easy nor recommended for a beginner. Take it to a reputable repair shop. Expect to buy a full front housing with digitizer and gorilla glass, as well as a rear housing, in addition to the battery. Even for a pro, it is difficult not to damage the housing when getting the phone open.

You may also try a factory reset to see if it is a problem with the particular ROM you are using, but my experience is that large drops like that signal the beginning of the end of the battery. Even lithium ion batteries have a finite lifespan. The lack of an easily interchangeable battery actually played a large role in my purchase decision when it came time to get a new phone recently. Ended up going with the Note 4 even though I am so excited about the m9. You could purchase a Mobie juice pack to get by in situations where your battery drains like that, but all the Mobie packs I ever bought ended up breaking. Apparently the placement of the microusb slot is less than ideal when it comes to a drop while charging. It lands right on the slot and messes it up good.

That sounds so logical and probably this is the truth, but the phone is only on 9 months in use. Is it normal to failure the battery for couple of months?
Maybe after 2 or 3 full charge-discharge cycles the battery will work better?
And it have 2y warranty. Maybe HTC will repair it?

Definitely worth a try to charge and discharge fully, but don't make it a habit or it will further ruin battery. I'd say one full charge/discharge should do it. Otherwise try not to let it fall below 20 percent. As for would it do this after 9 months. I can say for certain that mine did. But it all depends on how heavily it was used and how many times total it was charges and discharged. Most lion batteries can be fully recharged 300 times. If the person who had it before you was a heavy user and let it die everytime before plugging it up, it definitely could kill the battery in a really short time.

phone dialer *#*#3424#*#* HTC diagnostic tool test battery 1 hr if drops below 70% it means replace battery goto HTC service
Mine was changed twice in a year now it's working great

^
I make test and the result is 74% after 1 hour test by Htc diagnostic tool. But some says that tha battery warranty is only 6 or 9 months here in Bulgaria. But I must ask directly Htc, not local service.

About to get the Z1, how prevalent is the self-cracking issue?

Hey guys,
Title says it all! I am sold on the Z1 (Z2 too expensive) but the self-cracking issue got me worried hard...its the ONLY reason I'm not getting this right now, how prevalent is it really? Thanks!
I have never heard of it, don't even know what you mean.
And don't worry, I have already asked the mods to move your question to the Q and A section

Oh my apologies! Thanks
Has anyone experienced this?
I can double the fact that I never heard about this. What is it?
He mean that the Z1 cracking the glass, front or back, by itself. Still unclear how, but someone said it happen on they phones.
Probably a chick that wears skin tight jeans and keeps the phone in their back pocket said it then wonders how the screen cracked lol.

It happens. Look at sony support forums. They say it was no hit then crack or it just cracked by itself.. Sony addressed the issue i think? I mean, they responded. I forgot their response though just look through the sony support forum.

Yea thats the issue. I just don't know how prevalent it is and who wants to deal with customer support all the time you know? It seems like they denied the issue at first but then they replace it in some cases.
All phones have problems but if its prevalent I'd stay away from the Z1, thats why I asked Phone looks amazing though!
My z1s cracked itself.
Went to sleep and when I woke up the back had cracked.
It doesn't affect usage so no big deal to me.

Hmm. maybe its a problem for a given batch of z1? Maybe they fixed or solved the problem in other batches, like productiob batches. Like cars. Sometimes they call a specific batch back to get fixed because of problems, then the other batches are ok?
Possibly referring to overcharging the device, the battery swelling , the phone bending and the glass cracking, if this is the case then I can tell you that if you don't overcharge your device (excessively anyway) you won't have this issue, the phone itself is glass but is relatively sturdy and a few knocks here and there won't give you any problems, a drop from height and you might have an issue.
Hope this helps.
What do you mean by excessively charging? Too many times or too much time per charge? Or both? Thx in advance.

Rubbish. My handset is almost permanently on charge either on my bedside table (from the moment I get in as it provides my Hotspot), my desk at work (I don't carry it around as I'll break it) or in the van providing handsfree and GPS. Most of this time it's got the screen ON and is being charged with a 2500mAh charger.
If one was too overcharge it would be mine and it never has.

Rubbish? Really? Well explain this then? This is due to excessive heat and overcharge and a bloated battery.
When the battery bloats it has no where to go, i've seen this many times on devices, namely the kit used to diagnose problems on BMW and mercedes cars uses a blue battery and i've seen them triple in size when overcharged and eventually the screws, the sides of the device split, So no not rubbish at all, do your home work.

excessive as in overcharging constantly, especially with a charger which outputs too much power. the battery will eventually bloat, this can't be good for the components inside, whether or not that this device in the article is due to that or not is anyones guess, but i've seen devices split from a battery which has bloated beyond its limits. This is usually due to a few factors, excessive heat, charge or water damage.
I don't know why but it happens, galaxy devices see this issue more than others.

The article says 'possibly'. It's not confirmed. One of the the things I was asked when my old handset went in for repair was 'is it bent?'. Obviously I said no and asked why, Sony's comment, on the phone, was that the bending people had experienced was due to people sitting on their handsets or putting them in trouser pockets and the pressure combined with heat was causing them to bend.
More to the point. The battery is towards the bottom of the handset. The pictures of bent handsets show the bends to be at the top, nearer the processor.

Read the battery life, conditioning and multi cell device sections
This describes the misconceptions surrounding Li-ion batteries (That are in our Z1's) including the fact that the software in the phone prevents overcharging and will also lead the battery to discharge whilst still plugged in order to give the battery max performance/life.
If a battery in our mobile phones is getting overcharged that will be a symptom of another fault, namely something wrong with the phone software. Our batteries will look after themselves, there is no need to worry
Here is another point about not completely discharging Li-ion batteries

Ok so the Li ion battery found in the device i was referring to bloated, it was plugged in all of the time, in a different dealer the same machine was cared for by not being over charged, and didn't experience the bloat? reports from several other garages of the same thing.
How do you explain that?
I am not trying to explain anything
Just pointing out some articles, from what I read in them the OS will look after the battery more than us, and that it is OK to leave it on charge without waiting until it is completely discharged. Then, about once a month you should completely discharge it and fully charge to calibrate the software
Maybe the chargemon file in our phones looks after the battery more than the software in those machines you are talking of, its the OS that looks after the battery

Not sure m8, all i know is that if phones are left to charge all the time they experience anomalies, any phone that's been left in a shop for a period of time will experience the issues, I know there are fail safes in place but issues still occur on all devices, primarily and the most noticeable is sporadic touch screen issues although the newer handsets have been able to erradicate this somewhat, but the bloating battery from overcharging is very real, if i'd not seen it with my own eyes then i would be sceptical too.
Whether this phone bending phenomenon is solely due to overcharging or not i''m not sure but i'd say it's definitely a factor.

excessive heat and sitting on the phone? I'd have thought that the glass would have broken way before that it bent, and the battery isn't on the bottom, it's from the bottom all the way up to three quarters of the phone. So it's actually a plausible theory that battery bloating could have caused it to bend.

Then I took mine apart it seemed the battery was more towards the bottom than the top. But it is plausible the battery could cause bending. Seems odd though as the heat would be greater in the centre of the battery, not one corner.

Any good 3500mAh or 3800mAh batteries for the G4

Hi
See lots of 4000+ batteries and standard 3000, but are there any good 3500 or 3800? (want to keep normal back, no added bulk)
Ones I have seen look cheap and nasty (no brand) and I have a feeling they will add nothing extra.
Anyone got a 3500/3800mAh, did you get noticeable difference, worth it?
Thanks
Its not possible to have a higher capacity (mAh) Li-ion battery without increasing its size.
I personally use the TrendON LG G4 Battery kit and have been really happy with it. While the batteries last about ~75% as long as the OEM battery, it comes with 3 (depending on the bundle you choose) and a wall charger. Really great deal and an 18 month warranty! http://www.amazon.com/TrendON-3000-Spare-Replacement-Battery/dp/B010P2BQ2S
Hope this helps!
I ordered a (supposedly...) 3500 mAh battery online. It's the same size as the stock battery. My expectations are low, most likely won't actually live up to the rating etc. Either way I'll let you know after it's in my hands and I try it out for a day or two. Hoping it doesn't turn my beloved G4 into a pile of melted plastic.

Yeah I know what you mean, the ones I have seen look so cheap and ready to do more harm than good.
If some good company would just make one around that level, but bigger than 3800 and you need new case/adds bulk.
Fingers crossed one you get is all good.

You haven't paid much attention to LIPO packs since the beginning, have you? LIPO batteries are constantly getting smaller while packing more and more current capacity. A denser battery pack is possible just as a LIPO pack with the same size dimensions having less capacity than 3000mAh
Bit shocked Mugen have not done one, I see they tested a 3100mAh, but a extra 100? is it worth it, thought for sure they would have tried a 3200/3500mAh, but all there is out there is cheap no name stuff.

Well, my 3500mAh arrived. It appears to be very well built. In no way does it feel or look cheap. It is ever-so-slightly thicker than the OEM LG battery, and also slightly heavier 49.4 grams, compared to 46.3 grams for the LG.
The extra thickness and weight is to be expected for the slight (claimed) increase in capacity.
I popped it in and it fit perfectly, snug but not too snug. Just enough that I could hold my phone without the cover on, screen up, and the battery would not fall out. My stock black leather back fit right back on without a problem.
Powered on and the charge level was right around 80%. I charged it to full, then ran down to 5% or so. I repeated that a few times before evaluating it's performance.
Sadly I didn't do much to test the stock battery, but I can tell you I was never able to get more than 3 hrs of screen-on time. Same with 4 TrendOn batteries! The TrendOn batteries also occasionally caused problems where my phone would shut off when taking a picture with flash. Wouldn't turn back on until I switched batteries. Maybe it would've had I plugged in a charger, but I never tried. That would happen even if the battery was over 60-70%.
Also using the TrendOn, sometimes I would put a freshly charged one in and my battery level would be stuck at 80%, never going up or down. Usually that would "fix" itself after a few reboots.
After using this battery for a little under 2 wks I can say I'm very pleased. I regularly get over 4 hrs screen-on time now. Using auto-brightness, and doing random things like browsing Reddit, XDA, watching YouTube videos, streaming music with Pandora or Spotify, etc.
I've taken many pictures with and without flash and haven't had a single reboot. Also haven't had the 80% bug. Both of which plagued 3 out of 4 TrendOn batteries.
Charges just as fast as the LG battery. Just over an hour from ~10%-100% using a QuickCharge 2.0 charger, and stock or equivalent cable.
I guess only time will tell if this battery continues to perform as well as its been, or if it decides to incinerate my phone... Since I received it, I haven't taken it out. Haven't needed to as it easily gets me through the workday(sometimes the entire day) , even with moderate to heavy use. Now that I have a QuickCharge 2.0 charger at home, and in my car, I don't even carry a spare battery. 15-30 mins on one of them and I'm good for several more hours.
I'm not sure who makes the battery. I don't think any name is printed, only "Made In China." I bought it using the BangGood app. I'll update if I experience ANY problems.
any link or screenshot please? would like to get one

Hello There,
a friend of mine would also like to extend his battery life, so an answer if the 3500 mAh or 3800 mAh did the job would be great, Thanks!
Are there any alternatives which do not massively extend the phones case?

Hello rick09,
Which 3500 mAh Battery did you test which had a great performance?
Thanks Mate
rick09 said:

The 3500mah is the only one that would fit. any higher then a Custom case would be needed. I have one on mine and it's not that thick. I actually bought another case to fit on top of the one that came with my 7700mah battery. just look at my post and see the difference
Sorry for such a late respond but here is the one I purchased http://www.banggood.com/BL-51YF-3500mAh-Li-Polymer-Battery-For-LG-G4-H818-p-987003.html
Saw someone posted the same link a few posts up too. Figured I'd reply to let you all know that it's still working great. Actually had to swap to the original for a little when I was running out and didn't have time to charge. I honestly couldn't wait to get this battery back in. Still getting over 4 hrs screen on time, auto brightness, GPS and WiFi always on, NFC always on, Bluetooth on a good amount of the time and connected. I placed an order for a second one.

Thanks

It just camein today. Doesn't feel as if it is cheap. Slightly heavier than stock battery. I haav to go through some charging cycles to let the battery settle. Will report back with anything new.
Been using the battery since my last post and well i like it. With stock battety i get no more than 2 hours sot and the new one i can get up to 3.5hrs. An im a heavy user. Using an anker quick charger it takes about the same amount of time to charge both batteries. Although the new battery does look really cheap it doesn't behave like a cheap battery. No over heatings and no shorting out when using too much. I provided some pictures of the battery just in case you want to know what it looks like.
P.S. I do go back and fourth between both batteries when they die out. For the first week of having it i soley charged both batteries inside the phone with the quick charger. Now i have an actual little battery charger which saves me a lot of time between charges.

the OP asked for a slightly higher capacity battery that fit flush with the OEM battery door, that gave better performance without adding any extra bulk and limiting case options. Of course a 7700mAh is going to last longer than a 3000-3800mAh. But that wasn't his question. They're EXTREMELY limited on case options, and take up a LOT more space in your pocket. It's something I wouldn't go for, but a 3800mAh battery that allows the use of all the OEM backs and cases while giving over 25% more juice sounds quite appealing to me

New battery, original or fake?

Hi,
Yesterday i buy new battery for my old lg g2, but i'm not sure is it original.
My New battery is non stepped like this http://tanstartrade.ca/images/LG%20BL-T7.jpg
Do you think that it could be authentic?
Thanks in advance for your help.
I just got replaced battery in service - they told me that they use original LG parts. When I checked it under the cover, it shows manufactured date 6th of January 2016. It is not allowed by antena strips and curved back cover to have thicker battery and thinner would have less capacity. You could probably try but I don't see any benefits in that.
EDIT: After few days of usage I had to get my battery replaced by the old one. May be bad luck with not properly working battery but more probably faik one (runs for 0-10 mins, weird force charging in no OS mode). When they showed me the "new" battery in service it is thinner than the original, does not have the stepped back and thus makes gap between back cover and battery itself - 2mm of medium hard press. So it was like yours - flat design - no additional stepped part. The service was not authorised service but looked legit and had plenty of good reviews. So it's my experience of flat lg battery replacement stated as original.
Be noticed that all of below information are not yet confirmed.
I discovered the difference between original and fake since searching trough forums and own experience. :victory:
Design od LG BL-T7 battery has not changed ever since. Still the only one with the stepped back side. Should look like the battery on right side of these pictures, otherwise it is nor factory replacement (aka fake):
http://i.imgur.com/2Yt8cvDh.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/hkVpceYh.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/XtEH5AQh.jpg
The main difference is in litle bulk under printing "BL-T7", arrows under the NOM icon and next right is noticeable differnce in T in that symbol, fonts differ and last letter of chineese behind the manufactured day,...
There is a believe that non-original batteries are not that bad at all, only they have poor wiring and connection port which often makes them behave unexpectedly.
How to calibrate battery after replacement or when needed here.
I replaced my battery recently, they told me that it's not the original one, its a Chinese made but works well. So far, no issue.
Where did you get that one?

Note that if you face any issue regarding charging since these batteries are years old, then feel free to contact the seller and you will get a replacement.
I bought that same battery. It had no glue residue and the year was rubbed off.
It looks genuine but I won't be able to tell until my replacement screen arrives and I can install them both at the same time.
I bought a 3950mah high capacity battery from aliexpress (so clearly not geniune but for the money I decided to give it a shot). it works fine, got my Screen on time from 2-3h to 5h or more. However, when charging, it will charge up to 95-99% and then, while still plugged in, go down to 83% and stay there. Then when I unplug it and start using it, it first goes back up to 90-95% before going back down like normal. Has anyone experienced something like this and/or know a way to fix it? I tried some battery calibration methods but no luck. Also, since the phone rarely reaches 100% (indicated) it doesnt always reset the screen on timer properly... this makes it difficult to keep accurate track of its performance. when it does work 5h seems to be the usual value.
That one sounds weird.
Definitely not normal.
Only solution is to buy another and test it or return the one you haveDefinitely and try another one

I have contacted the seller but so far they are not replying... I tried the Ampere and 3C Battery monitor the check the voltages and currents while charging. At first, I thought the phone showed the wrong percentage as it was not calibrated for the high capacity (so 80% was actually 120% relative to the standard battery capacity) but it showed that the phone was actually discharging once it reached full charge. Also, my assumption of it being 120% was wrong since the percentage probably comes from the cell voltage. So, next I checked the cell voltage using both ampere and 3C but the values were all over the place, jumping from 4.36 to 4.2 and back. this made no sense. The battery has a top voltage of 4.37 when fully charged so maybe the battery monitoring software of the phone is confused by this?
In any case I will wait for the seller to get back to me and if the problem becomes worse I will get a new battery to test out.
Thanks for the update.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

Hello guys, I am looking to buy new battery for my 2 and half years old g2. So here are my options:
1) Pollarcell - they says it's great battery, but still kinda expensive for a non-oem battery. It would cost me about 25e.
2) OEM LG battery - in LG official service, I have to check it they still got them, price was about 30e if I recall correctly.
3) Some random battery - I guess this is lottery.I can get good or I can get bad battery. There are many brands, and their price is from 8-9 to 15e.
OEM is best choice for sure, but I don't feel like investing 1/3 of phone price in battery, especially cause I don't know how long I will keep that phone. Dunno what to do
Edit: Did anyone tried this battery? It has quite high rating

Beware of Pollarcell batteries I have read cases of burning
Bought my new battery at PhonTrading24 ,
Battery is class and from new production 12/2016 .
fake or original?
I also changed my battery after 3 years at LG service however I have some questions in my mind whether battery is fake or original one. Although new battery has same capacity like old one but it doesn not last like new one ( it lasts almost a day ) Pictures are attached new and old one. What do you think guys?

It looks like the original one and it might well be. But that also means it is not new, as the production of original batteries have stopped several years back. So what you have is probably an unused but ageing battery.
Batteries start degrading the moment they are produced, just that it degrades at a slower rate being unused (depending on temperature it's stored etc), compared to it being actively used everyday.

thanks a lot for the comment. I have been using this battery for a month now and the battery ends after completing one day. As and old production not bad as you said.
Dimensions of original battery BL-T7, taken off from LG G2 : 55.4mm x 66.4 mm x 5.6 mm (thickness in the middle), Weight: 45 G.

Was wondering, how your sot and so forth is ?
I get on a good day about 5 hours sot . Would love to hear from those that charge to approx 80% from 40% regularly.

About 4 - 5 hours.
Please allow me to comment how mad this is. Whilst I'm sitting at my desk, my phone sits in my wireless charger stand when not in use. My Note 5 still holds a charge fine. My Note 9 will likely perform in a similar way down the road.
Madness....
Best for battery health = keep batt level between 40-80% but for more convenience you could keep it 30-90 . You also free to charge any time within that range

Battery chemistry is certainly madness. Not charging to 100%? That's certainly not madness.
You might not have noticed it but battery degradation is definitely a thing and keeping a battery between 40% and 80% will most certainly lead to less degradation.
A good example of this is Tesla, why, by default do they not charge the batteries to 100%? Battery degradation.

Oh, I'm aware that battery degradation is a thing. Certainly. I'm just not bothered by it to the extent that I'm policing my charging habits in this way. Which to my mind is madness. But that's only my view on it. My older devices still hold plenty of charge for a reasonable amount of time for my personal needs/wants. That's all that matters in the end.
It just seems to me that paying such a dear price for a phone like this shouldn't force me to limit what I can do with it. Again, that's just my view only.

Your older device may hold "plenty" of charge for your personal needs/wants but it would hold more if you'd looked after the battery, it's as simple as that. Some of us choose to look after them, others don't.
Personally I prefer to look after my expensive investments, I don't think that's mad at all.

Looking after investments is not mad at all. Nobody sensible would suggest this. I'm only suggesting that the manner in which you choose to look after your investment seems mad to me. That's it.
I'm honestly surprised I still get use out of some of my older devices. Most users don't tend to keep old phones around too long from what I've witnessed over the years. So the issue of battery degradation is not a big deal for them. Policing my charging habits just seems too much, IMO. Battery tech will continue to evolve and hopefully degradation will continue to improve for us.

You're spot-on,but,you're wasting your time here in this thread,or,any battery life thread in general.
The same peeps could be getting a weeks worth of phone use between charges & still fret over battery health/life.
They're still stuck in 2012 when phones had a 1/4 of the useful battery life that they do now.
This phone does just fine, those w/issues are a small minority & likely do little else than spend every waking moment on their phones.
If there was a wide-spread battery life problem, the likes of BGR & The Verge would be all over it.
Of course, that's not typical use & most "issues" are related to notoriously s****y apps such as FB or,are in a weak signal area.
As for the 80/40 thing, don't you think Samsung has this addressed already w/software?
Of course they do,so,any further fretting over battery health & life,IMHO,is wasted time, there's plenty of other things in life that are more worthy of such attention & concern.

I have monitored the battery on Note8 for a year with AccuBattery. At installation on the first day I had 95% life and after one year i had 95%. It is possible to lose some mAh but not so much. Samsung Mobile CEO says new battery generations lose 5% capacity after two years of use. Not much. After 4 years 10%. Does anyone hold the phone so much that it deserves 40-80% pain? And if you want to keep it for 10 years you can not change a battery under warranty or for a fee? I've loaded my phone daily from 25-100% and no problem. No fast charger.

Since when was a mobile phone an Investment??!
Id be as crazy as some of you folk on here if I cared about caring for a battery. Mines charged overnight. If it needs a boost during the day (so far not required on the note 9)it gets one.
Seriously. Some of you need to chill about battery conditioning.

Well, some would suggest spending upwards of $800-$1000 does qualify as an investment. But maybe I'm wrong.
Lithium based batteries lose capacity in every charging cycle but it's not as bad as some might think.
In 2015, a study by the KIT showed that lithium-ion batteries lose 30% capacity in 1000 to 5000 full cycles (0 to 100%).
The same year, a french consumers association (UFC que choisir) did a similar experience (15 devices with lithium batteries were tested for battery loss in capacity after 300 to 700 cycles of charge from 20% to 100%). The end result was that devices lost up to 14% battery capacity.
The worse battery capacity loss I have seen in an article was from Cadex. 20% loss over 250 full cycles.
So, for people that don't keep their phone more than 2years, there is no reason to be worried by capacity degradation over cycles of charge. (Temperature and voltages seem to be a much bigger problem. For example, I have already seen results as bad as 20% loss after 12 cycles at -20°C).
IMO, this problem is in fact something that is highly important for electric cars.
After a call with Samsung Support they told me to keep the phone over 20% and when it reaches 100% to plug the charger out. No 80% rule...

I have a small desktop fan placed near my main charging spot/dock.
If I happen to charge it up somewhere else,no biggie once in a while.
Regardless,it's a small measure to take that requires no thought/worry.
Old idea for 2009 technology.
Charge when you want.
This wasn't suppose to be a debate about charging habits. But was supposed to be about asking those that use this method a simple question my friends.

I understand your curiosity but if you want to see some differences between people doing 100% DoD and people doing 60% to 80% DoD, you should ask on the forum of an older phone.
Battery capacity loss per cycle (at normal temperatures) is too small to be seen in such a short period of time.
But if you ask buyers of the S8, or even Note 8, for example, you might start to see some differences.
Edit : Assuming that you find people actually doing 100% DoD haha.

Upgrading the internal battery

I'm curious if anyone on here has tried opening their phone up to swap the battery with an upgraded mAh cell? There are 4,220mAh upgrade batteries all over eBay and I'm really about to pull the trigger on one of them. If it fits and works properly, that is a pretty substantial upgrade in screen on time daily and the difference between me having to charge one to two times in the middle of the day versus being able to go the whole day on the initial charge.

If it fits and works properly, that is a pretty substantial upgrade in screen on time daily and the difference between me having to charge one to two times in the middle of the day versus being able to go the whole day on the initial charge.

Just cause the listing and label on the battery says a capacity doesn't mean that's true. I wouldn't risk putting in a 3rd party battery that costs $20 (for example) into a $600+ phone

Well I mean that's a given with anything you buy on the internet without seeing it first. As for the price of it, a genuine OEM Pixel 4 battery is $25-$30 so I'm not put off by the $10 difference in price. I also am not going to be relying on the battery if I try it, as in if it turns out to be a dud I would just immediately swap back in the OEM battery and take the little $20 hit but I think its Worth trying with the current risk to benefit comparison and if it ends up being truthful, even if it's not 4220mAh but more than the OEM 3700mAh it would be a win in my book for the price. I have an inline USB meter I can throw between the charger and phone to measure how many milliamp hours the battery actually took.
If you need to upgrade battery to get more screen time each day then you're using your phone too much lol

After my experiences with purchasing piss poor quality aftermarket batteries off Ebay and elsewhere (N6P), I would not recommend it. For the same price you can buy a PD power bank that will fast charge your device anywhere you don't have a charger handy. That and you won't break the back glass. Of course, it would be a totally different story if your battery has somehow degraded tremendously and is now defective. I'd be curious to know what your current battery capacity is using Accubattery. When I bought my P4XL, it was 103%. 6 months later it was 98%. If your battery capacity is still 90-95% I would look at a decent PD power bank and not crack the case open. Even if you pay someone to do the work and get a warranty, your phone will never be the same. Best of luck. :good:
I would think that a battery that's 500mah bigger might not be able to fit in the phone... Chances are that the battery will just be a low quality replacement.

According to accubattery I currently have 12 hours and 25 minutes of screen on time. I dont know about anyone else but that is really good in my book and more than enough. My battery is reading 103% capacity.
I never fast charge my phone unless I forget to charge it overnight and I am leaving the house soon then I throw it on the original charger. And I almost never charge past 80%. I actually use a device called chargie that slow charges my phone overnight. It completely shuts down the charger at 80 allows the phone to discharge to 76 and kicks back on and goes back to 80. My battery only goes up about 10 degrees F while charging. And I have it set to shut off the charger if my battery reaches 110 degrees F. I really plan on keeping this phone for at least 3 years (since I have a family and I have to be a big boy and put food on the table now) No more getting the newest phone for me every year.

Well, considering my phone is used for all traditional purposes (YouTube, social media, email, web browsing) along with the fact that I run my business from my phone, you wouldn't be wrong, but it is essential and serves it's purpose. Any extra sot I can get is a huge plus for me.

Yeah I feel what you're saying, the one reason I haven't already dove right in and tried is the splitting the case open. I have don't it once before on a P4, my last one had some issues and I was able to open it up before sending it back to Google to be RMA'd.
I do in fact have a 10,000mAh PD power bank, I bought it within the first week of upgrading from my P2 to my P4. It works fine and is a great solution but obviously being able to fix the root problem would be better if possible. The power bank is along the lines of a bandaid for the problem but seems to be my only logical choice for now.

12 hours screen on time? What alternate plane of existence do you get that kind of SOT with a P4XL??

I just opened up mine the other day to replace the rear glass ( had a crack in the corner). Was pretty easy with the guitar pick looking spudger. I did not need any heat to open it. Figured while I was in there might as well replace the battery with a fresh one. Both were purchased from ifixit. The swap out went fairly quick, I just took my time to scrape all the sealant from the edges of the phone for the back glass to have a good seal. Haven't dunked it yet to test if its still waterproof.

No I actually never ended up pulling the trigger on it. To be honest, I'm still really interested in the idea. The only slight bit of anxiety it gives me is with breaking the factory adhesive on the rear panel. Still, I will try it soon. I hate having to dedicate a pocket to my power bank anytime I'm out for more than a couple of hours.

What adhesive did you replace the factory stuff with and where did you get it?

The 3 pull strips for the battery didn't fully come off so there was still some that I could reuse to secure the battery. The rear glass that comes from ifixit has everything (nfc,qi, camera lens gasket etc) already attached to it including the adhesive. They also sell just the adhesive strip by itself if you're just opening it up.
