Hello and happy new year to everyone. This evening my friend will bring his chromecast to my party to cast music for the night, but I actually have just an android 4.2.2 tablet. Can I run Chromecast on this android version ? If not, can I use any alternative app with the same features ?? Thanks everybody, happy new year again [emoji312] [emoji483] [emoji485] [emoji482]

I've had my ChromeCast for about 6 months now and love it the way it is. But...curiosity has captured my attention and now I am wondering if I can stream Popcorn Time through CC. I haven't rooted my CC yet, not even totally sure I can. Just wondering if it's worth my time to try. Thanks!

The alpha version has casting abilities. No root needed. You can just Google it and find out more or maybe someone else can link you.

I have a 3 rooted chromecasts that won't seem to load netflix today. It says an error connecting to netflix.
Netflix still works on mobile, and web browsers on the same connection. anyone else experiencing this?

Yep the latest google update contains a new Netflix app and Team Eureka hasn't been able to update Eureka rom to include the newest version yet....
I believe they said it might go out this weekend but don't hold me (or more important them!) to that timeline....
It works on Mobile because it automatically updated to the newest version on your mobile but the new version only works with the latest CCast Update and we are currently one version behind on Eureka.
Be patient Team Eureka will get you fixed up soon....
cool I just wanted to know if I was unique. Thanks for the information.
New build is out. It fixes Netflix issue. Update rollout may take up to five days.

Yeah!! Totally unexpected. I'm really glad they just released.
Can't have the wife without netflix for up to five days......I just manualy flashcast their latest update and can confirm that netflix is working just fine.
I'm on rooted 12072 firmware with OTA disabled and like couple of days ago Im not able to cast Netflix from the laptop from my S3 and not even from my wife iPhone. You tube is working no problem. This has something to do with the new Netflix update on Chromecast end? Can I update chromecast with eureka firmware or I'm pretty much screwed? Thanks.

Update your Chromecast via Flashcast to build 19084.001 of Eureka-ROM. Then you can enjoy Netflix without problems again.
except manually upgrading requires you being physically next to the device with a usb drive and an OTG cable...
It is pretty annoying to not have an easy way to update yourself without hardware.
It should be an option in the web interface because it just wastes everyone's time who needs to update.
anyone have a way to force an update is over ssh?

Do I have to use a special hardware for this or just the OTG cable and a usb drive? Thanks

You only need a usb drive and the OTG cable.
The new netflix works great on the new eureka rom.
I love the automatic playback of the next episode they added. It works great to marathon old doctor who while playing with my other chromecast.
Just wanted to bring to everyone's notice that casting works full time while playing vidoes on Chrome on mobile !!
That is great news! I can't wait to try it out. When did that change get implement ed?
I thought this was old news. Been doing this now for weeks. I assumed it came with the newer google play services that allows beta screen casting on select devices
Months ago - It was enabled in Android Chrome Beta v34 in March this year, rolled out to Android Chrome stable in v35 in May.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...tab-better-fullscreen-video-support-and-more/
I am talking about main app.....not beta....beta was experimental and never worked !!!

Like I said its been in Android Chrome stable since May. It worked just fine when it was in only Chrome beta for me.
Darn can't get it to work on mine....
Thanks

You need to make the video full screen and once you do that you will get a cast icon on the top left corner of the screen !
This has been enabled on my device for quite a while. I happily play videos from Vimeo on my chromecast. :good:
It works for me in Chrome Beta on my tablet, but not in the current official release of Chrome on my phone (Android 4.4.4).
But I wonder how much use this really is. I tested it with Vimeo, but really pretty much every source falls into one of two categories:
a) Already has Chromecast support
or
b) Uses a custom video player, custom DRM or custom app that either you can't play within Chrome on Android or isn't compatible with the Chromecast.
Hey friends i want to buy chromecast for xperia sp will it support our device?? Can we use screen mirroring?? Also will i be able to see video on my tv without any lag??

Screen mirroring will work as long as you are using a KitKat ROM and Mirror Enabler installed (needs root). The latest version of the Chromecast is supposed to have experimental screen mirroring for ALL KitKat devices, but I haven't tried this out personally. Performance of the mirroring will depend mostly on your connection speed.
Personally, I hardly ever use the screen mirroring, it just feels clunky. It's much better if the app you're using supports Chromecast.

Sorry for the late reply. I personally haven't tried it, but you should be able to send your videos to Chromecast using AllCast - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.cast&hl=en
I am thinking of releasing an app that can mirror any android devices (starting from Android 2.3 up to android 5.1) to Chromecast receiver.
Since google's Chromecast app can support quite a lot devices, I am not sure if there are still enough interests to mirror android devices with old versions?or to mirror new android devices that Chromecast app do not support?
I did develop such an app, but never released it to public, it's working quite well actually.
Please let me know if you are interested in it, and I can post free versions here.
Please , go ahead. and Let us have a look at it .

Hmm, is this being done somehow using the Miracast standard? Curious.

We will release a version that works on rooted devices first, just to check our native implementation for the chromecast mirroring protocol.
Yes, we also have a miracast receiver, more info will be revealed here.
Thanks for your patience on this app.
Is this still in the making? Really want to screen cast my mx3 android box to my Chromecast
@timdoggg, Yes, it's beging developed, and working very well, but right now, it requires rooting to get the audio. Can you tell me your Android version? why is google Chromecast app not working for your device?
I will try to post something in this thread late this month.

Have a rooted Nook HD+( on CM12.1 - lollipop 5.1 ) and chromecast 2015(new version). Regular casting works fine, but there is something preventing mirroring . When hitting casting selection the screen abruptly disconnects. I've tried a program called Mirrorenabler and it also will not mirror. A report by someone using CM11 and some custom rom reported mirroring working fine on Nook HD+ so its not a hardware issue. Does anyone have any thoughts ??
Thanks,
Al
In order for Chromecast app mirror to work, google play services must be installed into system partition. Your android most likely does not have it.
Our Chromecast sender app does not use Google play services, so it should work, please visit this thread later for the apk.
Hey,
I can also confirm that unfortunately on Nook HD+ on CM12.1 mirrorenabler doesn't work, nevertheless on cm11 latest built mirror enabler works great. But still both CM11 and CM12.1 for me are unstable, actually cm12.1 is worst for me getting a lot of download and apps installation slow down, on cm11 I get a lot of keyboard droppings when typing in the browser but gennerally the experience is a lot better.
So would love to test on stock (4.0.4) your app apparently with root.
Thanks

My CM12.1 on Nook HD+ is not as good as 5.01 that I previously had. If you get Trickster Mod ( to increase responsivness ) and increase read ahead buffer 768 and get Glove Xperia ( to adjust screen sensitivity if needed ) you might like CM12.1 better
Al
Is this still being developed?
