Hi all!
I bought the new Moto G (2014) a little while ago, and today, whilst browsing the internet, the phone stopped responding to anything. I pressed the power- and volume down buttons down for a little while, and I was greeted by the FastBoot menu. I just selected Normal Boot and it worked fine. However, 5 minutes later I had the same issue, so I did the same thing. This time it got stuck in a boot loop though.
Now the problem is, when I press 'Recovery' in the FastBoot menu, the android logo (laying on its back with the exclamation mark) doesn't show up. The regular Motorola Boot screen just turns up for a few seconds, and then the screens turns off.
I might go to the store tomorrow to get a replacement unit.
Any advice is appreciated!
Did you try volume up and power on the black screen even with the fallen droid?

Just did it, the Motorola Boot Screen will re-appear, but still no fallen droid
EDIT: I have to wake up for school in about six hours so I'm signing off for today, so if I don't reply back I'll be fast asleep!
Thanks for the fast reply too! Didn't expect a reply just about 15 minutes after I posted the question

That would be great. The model number on the packaging says: SM3928AD1T1
Also I really don't have a clue on how to reinstall the firmware, how do I do that?
Sorry, I'm quite an Android noob, it's my first Android phone

No, we want System version.
Settings->About phone->System version.
and I think you should add bootloops in thread title so that it will clear that this thread is different than other Not able to go in Bootloader threads

Oh alright, excuse me. I can't boot my phone so I can't say for sure. It's the Dual Sim 8Gb model (XT1068 or XT1064 I believe, will check when I'm at home), simlock-free. I'm in the Netherlands (so it's not the US model), and I installed the latest update available (the one that makes Google Launcher the default launcher).
I'm at school right now, so I can't check anything else right now. I'll be home early though (about 13:30 GMT +1)

Now this thread helped a little bit.
there are 3 types of XT1068 one is Retail DE second retail Brazil and third Retail all (global).
Your phone must not Brazil one so possibility is DE or ALL.

Not entirely sure. On the box it says 'Retail, EURO (Probably European), WHT 8GB.
have you tried:
for 4.4:
- with the droid on its back, press vol up + vol down at the same time for 5 seconds, then press power button briefly
for 5.0 & 5.1:
- with the droid on its back, long press power button, and while pressing, press volume up briefly
these worked for me.
When I was looking for it, the was no mentioning of two versions...
maybe it helps.

The thing is the droid on its back never appears.
@hannah: I missed your reply, but I'm absolutely positive. I can still turn the device on with the power button (it still doesn't boot though), and I've used the volume buttons a lot and they've always worked.
hi! I am just in your situation.
The droid on its back never appears.
My phone is 8gb Euro (Spain), updated to 5.0.2 via OTA
I can boot into system but lots of FC are happening and I cant use the phone. I cant get into Settings...
I need to make a factory reset but recovery is not accesible due to droid not showing and button combo not working.
Any clue? thanks!

Hi,
my Galaxy S GT-i9000 got into force close loop and I am now stuck after Android boot. Before performing a hard reset (and spending a week setting up the phone and apps again) I would like to try with safe mode: unfortunately I was so far unable to find how to get into safe mode on it.
Anybody could help? Thank you.

I don't remember there being a Safe Mode. Although you can go to Download Mode and flash a new firmware. It should fix the problem you're having.
There is a safe mode. I've unintentionally ended up in it a few times. I have no clue how to get there willingly though.
Edit: That was easy... Just power on the phone while holding the menu button, just as on a bunch of other android phones.

Thank you. I already checked I can get to the recovery mode menu, but I understand this would reset everything on the phone, including personal settings and third party apps. I am looking for a way to avoid this, if at all possible: all I need to do is uninstall a looping application.

Ok I found it. For some reason on my Galaxy safe mode is entered by pressing

Today i restartet my SGS and on the reboot i swyped the Display over my T-Shirt to clean the screen. Even before the Pin-Input showed up, in the left bottom corner i had "safe mode" written. As my intention was not to go into this mode i restartet again.
After this, my widgets didn´t work anymore, so i had to take them of the screen and put them again. And all my well sortet apps in the menu are now unsorted.
But no big deal.
Finally i found out how to go into the Safe-Mode every time you need.
As soon as you start your SGS you have to press for a half a second constantly the left Softkey, meaning don´t have it pressed all the time, but touching it every half a second. When coming to the Pin-Input you cann stop it and you will see on the left bottom corner Safe-Mode!
Very usefull if a third-party Launcher or Widget makes some trouble.
i tried it, it didn't work
Which firmware are you on?

Really? tried it 3 times now and every time i was able to get in. I´m on 2.1 I9000XXJF5
You have to touch the button as soon as the screen shows the Samsung Logo, even when the Softkey only will light up 2-3 seconds after the Power on!
I´ve taken a photo. As my Phone is in german it shows not Safe mode but sichere Modus. But it is the same.
it might be another key for the JH2 ROM
i'll see if i can figure it out, but so far the few methods we've figured out doesn't work on the JH2

Ok thanks for testing. Maybe its like the Recovery mode that doesn´t work on some devices without patching.
i'm hoping that is not the case, but it might be true
I updated my phone just recently and came across this major issue.
I used Sony's own tools for updating that leaves two options "Sony Companion" and "Sony Update Service".
Both giving the same results for my phone, even a full reinstall doesn't work.
When done updating you set your Xperia ZR back on as the software says.
It starts normally showing the Sony logo, Xperia logo and some Xperia animations.
When it gets to the lock screen and asks for your pin code to unlock your sim-card everything is fine.
Here it comes.
When setting your screen in standby and back on the touchscreen function is not working anymore.
Other buttons are working fine (power, volume, photo)
I talked to a Sony employee and he came to the conclusion that it's a Hardware defect, that sounds to me like a bad excuse.
The screen works the first time but not the second time it's turned on.
Looks to me like a software problem.
Are any others of you experiencing this problem with the Xperia ZR? Please, let me know below!
I don't have a solution yet or if you have a solution, let us/me know down here.
Thanks in advance!
It sounds like the firmwarepart with drivers four the touchscreen didn't bite. If it's anything like the 4.2.1-4.2.2 in HTC that part needs to get through.
Is there any way of restarting the process through companion?

A temporarily solution is to touch the screen when pressing the power button to turn on the screen.
Example: Touch with your left index finger on the screen and press power shortly as you normally do, then move your index finger over the screen.
But you have to do this every time you turn on the screen!

No, I haven't tried that yet, because I'm not familiar with flashtool.
It's easy.
1. Do a search for flashtool and download the exe file.
2. Install it. Install the latest drivers by going to the install drivers menu in the program.
3. Download the ftf file on the android development section.
4. Save it in the c drive folder for flashtool-->>firmware
5. Press the big flash (lightning symbol)
6. Chose flash mode
7. Your firmware should show up. Choose the C5503 firmware.
8. It will tell you to turn off your phone and while plugging in, keep the back button pressed. Since the zr doesn't have a back button, hold the volume down button.
9. It should do everything automatically. You'll be on a new os. Reboot and you're done.

I'll try that :fingers-crossed:
Did you also try the update to 4.2.2?
It's still bugging me that they released it and it didn't work. (for my Sony Xperia ZR at least)
Great it worked!
I took flashtool from androxyde.github.io and I also took the firmware from there.
For me the first 3 times flashing went wrong, but it's nothing to worry about just reconnect the USB while pressing volume-down button and retry.
So I am now back to android 4.1.2 and the screen is working fine without any problems.
Thanks djpeesh!
I have the same problem but I don't want to revert to 4.1.2 is there another workaround? This is really stupid SONY says that an app can cause this but there is pretty much nothing on my device. I did a hard reset and it didn't help. I'll try something else to see if I can avoid the downgrade. I think everything started when I activated debugging mode.
Same happens with mine.At times I am not able to accept phones calls by sliding. i have to press the power button several times to switch off and on the screen and then it functions again

I managed to make the screen work again but then it stopped like before. I suspect that there might be a SIM card problem is your sim a genuine micro SIM or is it like mine a chopped mini one?
I sended my Xperia ZR back to sony, because I talked to a SONY employee about this and his answer was to send it back for repairs. After all **** installations that didn't work. At the look of it the frimware for the screen is not inplemented in the new 4.2.2 update. If you could rip the 4.1.2 screen frimware off and migrate it with the 4.2.2 update that could work, but that is a bit to advanced for me.

Hello all! I work as a smartphone technician and today a gentleman brought an AT&T model G Flex into the shop where I work because the phone had gone into a bootloop and would only cycle the LG logo on and off without booting fully. He told me that the phone had been flashed to T-Mobile some months ago and had been working been working fine until today.
My dilemma is that I'm not sure how to proceed at this point. My first thought is that an AT&T phone probably wouldn't actually have to be "flashed" (as he put it) to T-Mobile, I'm pretty sure it would just have to be carrier unlocked and then have some network settings changed on it. Thus, my first thought is to try using the KDZ or TOT method to restore the stock AT&T firmware, then go about changing the network settings to T-Mobile's again. But now I'm second guessing myself and wondering if maybe it does actually need the T-Mobile rom or even just the radios flashed to it?? Unfortunately, I'm not much of an expert on GSM networks or even LG software. Generally I deal much more with hardware. Any advice from the LG community would be greatly appreciated!

Turns out I had it backwards, it is actually a T-Mobile that was being used on ATT but no matter. Turns out I can't get it to boot to download mode or recovery mode anyway. I must have tried holding volume up with the phone off while plugging in the usb 50 times today. No luck. All I can get it to do is bring up the hard reset option, which I have tried to no avail. Any ideas on how to get this thing into download mode? Really appreciate you taking the time bud

Plug it into your computer, try and get it to show up on your device manager. If you can get it to show up you can use the lg flash tool.
Download mode is holding volume up as you plug your phone into your computer .
Its strange how it would just all of a sudden loop.
I forgot to ad that I think recovery mode has a "black" screen. Not 100 percent sure on this , someone correct me if I'm wrong. Also there may be a better solution over in the LG G2 section of XDA. Software is pretty much the same as the flex.
Wish I could be more help.

Sweet. What solved it?
Update your OP in case anyone else is having the same problem. Help has been really rare around here lately.
Glad you got it.
Hi there!
I was wondering if anyone around here had some ideas on what to do.
My LG G4 had been working fine until today. I unlocked the screen to check my e-mail and it completely froze. It was plugged in at the time, so I unplugged it to see if I could restart it. The charging light was still blinking, the power button didn't respond, absolutely nothing.
I took the battery out, left it for a minute or so and rebooted. It loaded, unlocked, but I could only get to the app menu before it completely froze again. Afterwards, screen went black.
On the third try, it booted up to the LG logo and that's it. It popped up about 3 times and screen went black. No other response whatsoever. I can only try to reboot again only after taking out the battery, but it does the same thing.
I switched the battery with another one of the same model, nothing changed. Computer doesn't recognize it either.
I've looked around for a bit and I can't find anything like my case. The closest thing described is the boot loop. I'm not exactly sure that's my case, but it seems similar to a certain degree.
I got it to boot to recovery mode, but it doesn't do anything. It asks me if I'm sure I want to run it, and in the second 'yes' it freezes up completely again. Screen goes black and does absolutely nothing else.
Added note, phone upgraded to 6.0 yesterday morning. I had no issues with it until now. No app updates were running at freezing time.
I'm considering taking it to the store before I try anything myself, just in case there is still some warranty active.... But any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I was afraid so... Went directly to the T-Mobile store where I bought it and, since the warranty was still active, they exchanged it on the spot.
I just hope this one lasts longer than the other one did...
Thanks!

That is an excellent question...
Btw, does your screen freeze up sometimes? 'Cause mine sometimes goes unresponsive right after I unlock it... I just lock and unlock it again and keeps working just fine, but it's kind of annoying... old one did it and it, now this one does it sometimes too...

Good to know it's not just me then. Guess it's a common screen glitch then.
Thank you for the info!
Well another 505 g4 bites the dust. Playing a game, backed out of it, phone froze, pulled battery, turned on to endless bootloop, pulled battery again, now nothing and I mean nothing, no boot loop, no nothing
Definitely a brick. Computer doesn't recognize or even try to charge it. Hopefully still under warranty.

Just looking for opinions. I have a stock note 5, no jail breaking or weird loads. Just a run of the mill Note with way too many candy crush saga apps. We weren't even using it a couple days ago when it turned itself off. Reboot just got it stuck in an endless boot cycle. Loading normal or safe mode gets you the android 'no command' blue screen of death.
I figured maybe bad update...possibly load new firmware. Samsung's smart link application doesn't work, as apparently I don't have a S/N, it doesn't exist and you need that for smart link. (It's not the IMEI.) Anyway, Samsung over the phone told me to try a best buy samsung rep, they'd flash it for free. I thought that sounds safe. But they couldn't get it to recognize my phone....Verizon won't help me, I'm past the year warranty. But still owe too much money to pay it off and get a new one through them...That leaves flashing it myself with Odin. So I did. It went ok, it said it PASSED, the phone rebooted....It started a little config in what looks to be a factory reset type screen...it got to 'erasing', refresh arrow spinning to show me it was going, then it just stops. The world stops and no amount of letting it sit every gets it to go again. Rebooting still has 'no command' and no signs of life.
Any thoughts on what might be going on? Anything else to load or try? The phone's no good to me ****ed, so I'm open to suggestions. Likewise, does it sound like any hardware related things? Is there any hope? would love to hear a first impression from someone more experienced with phones and Android.
Try flashing the latest stock firmware in Odin using "Nand erase all" ticked under options..
Let us know how it goes..

Same Problem it looks like. Odin does it's thing for about 3 minutes. Says 'PASS'. Phone restarts, does some initializing bar moving stuff for 10 seconeds, it switches to 'Erasing' then the phone just stops
That's unfortunate dude.
I'm really sick of Samsung phones. They're just terrible. As someone who's had to replace their screen twice and battery three times, it shouldn't be difficult to replace the motherboard.
This happened to my NOTE 5 (SM-N920V) as well
YOUR NOT ALONE! THIS SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY NOTE 5
I was fishing, this morning at about 7am when my phone rebooted all on its own to the same Samsung Boot Logo screen then stuck as well. NO RYHME NO REASON, I have never, ever cracked, hacked or smacked this phone either,:highfive:
"The only updating that has been done has come via Verizon/Samsung..." But none recently ...that I recall as in, the last week or so.
While I will admit doing "it" (hacking, cracking, modding,) to other android phones (Obviously or I wouldn't have a membership here). But this Note 5? No... Maybe perhaps that's why its broken now? LOL...
It does always seem that my continued membership here is not in vain though, ......
For now, I will do whatever it takes to get it back... .......next to buying a new phone or it not coming back on ever.
I will share here what I did to resolve the issue. And I will without a doubt utilize "EVERY" resources here at XDA-DEVELOPERS to do it, and happily without the help of Verizon or Samsung.
So far I have determined that my Note 5 version is not commonly referenced here which is: the SM-N920V (Verizon U.S)
Thank you XDA-Developers this is why we need informational communities like this in our lives! :victory:
Even though I may still go nutz during this repair... if it happens.... Wish us luck!

might be bad emmc look into booting from sd card not possible on all devices but may be a start,I had a note 4 do the same thing and most def was bad emmc
Unfortunately, my sd card is internal on the Note5 the unique thing is the Note5 does not have an pop of back plate that covers the battery as, like previous versions which allow the back cover to be removed easily, I mean yeah I can take this thing apart, but its not conventional.

Is there any good way guides on how to find/test eemc or battery or whatever? I can't find many resources at all on how to help me troubleshoot.

What you need to do is in Odin options... Uncheck auto reboot. Find the exact .PIT file for your model and put it in odins PIT spot and ignore that it says it's for developers only just add the PIT anyway and in options again where you unchecked auto reboot make sure you check NAND erase all and then add your firmware and after odin flashes it and finally says PASS then disconnect the phone and then hold the volume down button and power button at the same time and when the screens turns off let them go and as soon as it comes back on select nothing but factory reset and when it gets into the recovery mode if it list options and you see factory reset a few lines down use the volume down button to move down to highlight the factory reset option and hit the power button and on the next page again go down to YES and hit the power button again and then let it finish and reboot and least give the phone a good 20 minutes after it's rebooted to get itself setup and to the point where you can start setting it up the same way you did the day you turned it on for the very first time.. Let me know if this works and don't skip any steps.

The newer Samsung's do not use eMMc they use the newer UFS 2.0 which is why the note 5 and S6 never got micro sd slots. I could be wrong here but I don't think so.

Well ****, we're worse off than when we were before. I don't know if this in indicative of a hardware problem, but now that the battery has had time to drain, I plugged it in and left if for a day, but any time the cord is plugged in the phone is stuck in an infinite no command/reboot loop, and I can't get to download mode with up arrow + home + power like I could before. With the phone unplugged it has no life whatsoever.
Could this be a battery issue the whole time?

Yes and it sounds like a hardware issue by draining that fast.. Did you try holding the volume down button and power button until it reboots?

So When it was plugged in to my comp it would not go into download mode...If I unplugged the cord, it would not turn on.
I got a wall outlet charger instead, with that plugged in I could get to download mode, and when I tried to turn the phone on without the wall charger it gave a 'battery 0%' warning...
Anyway, I got it to down load mode, unplugged the wall charger, moved it to the comp and did the flash with the pit file...Odin said it passed. I restarted the phone, picked factory reset. It installs a few quick things, goes to 'erasing' and after about 20 seconds, freezes, same as last time. Now it's back to no command

How long did you let it sit there? Do the factory reset again and let it sit there for a little bit and see if it eventually goes. If not boot into recovery again and read to see what version firmware is listed.

It kicks itself off and goes to a 'no command' after the erasing screen gets stuck and quits 'twirling' for awhile. I don't know how to see a firmware listing. I can't get to a recovery mode(using that terminology to google some screenshots, I don't have that). The phone boots to maintenance mode only...any option I pick there goes to no command. I can use the vol down + home + power to get into download mode so it will be seen by the pc. That's about it

That means that it didn't flash fully.. What firmware version did you flash in odin? And you can see the phone version again by going into download mode too it should be right at the top after pressing the volume up.
