Which phone model and carrier?
Also, It might be quicker if you just visited the sites linked in -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/info-tip-web-sites-official-leaked-roms-t2923347 and download the full SBF, and unzipped it.

I only have the USA Roms on my PC, so you'll either need to wait until someone posts, or re-download the full SBF from one of the sites, and unzip.
And when you say "bricked" can you get the phone into fastboot mode?

Date wouldn't matter. The file date in the SBF is likely when that file was copied to the PC it was zipped on. For example, the file dates/times in the Verizon 4.4.4 SBF from Moto's web site are all 10/30/14 @ 4:03pm. Yet the 4.4.4 update itself was released well before that. 10/30/14 is when Moto created the compressed file.
I'd hesitate to give you one from the USA roms, because the boot.img between Verizon XT1060 and T-Mobile XT1053 is different. So XT1052 is also likely different. And we've seen mismatched files on a phone either brick it, or cause issues when taking an OTA (failure or brick).

moto x testing unit upgrade

does anyone have any idea how to update a testing version of moto x to the latest update? every time i check for updates it says there are none available. it is an xt1053 with a kernel from june
If the bootloader is unlocked download one of the other firmware packages then upgrade
^ do you think I could do that in the stock recovery?
and point me in the right direction to download that?

How did you end up with a "testing version" of the software?
Anyways - I imagine that if you flashed the original firmware that you would probably be able to check for an update and receive it. But I could be completely wrong and you could wreck your phone trying (standard disclaimer). This link might help you...

The video tutorial I linked you to gives step by step instructions of how to do what you want to do. They even have a link to the files you mentioned. Did you look at the tutorial?
If it helps the xt1053 is the T-Mobile model. You could try flashing the T-Mobile firmware or unlock the bootloader to flash other versions.

XT1053 : Returning to stock & changing locale

Hi,
I own a Moto X Developer Edition, so a XT1053 device.
After some issue, I decided to return to full stock, 4.4.2, and possibly changing the locale to get a full French support.
I followed the instructions from this thread to return to stock. And instead of choosing the original firmware, I took the French one from this list.
Everything run smoothly without any issue, except one annoying problem for a phone, the radio doesn't work, so no GSM connectivity. The phone says the radio is unactivated.
I think there is a way to "mix" some img files from the original Dev Edition and the FR one to get things working, but I don't know exactly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Hi,
Really need some help on this one because as I didn't get any answer, I decided to reflash the official 4.4 firmware to get my radio back. But as the Moto X has been flashed with the French 4.4.2 rom, it refuses to be downgraded to 4.4.
Any idea? Thanks.
Please please please please read up on these things before you end up flashing!
I'm glad I could answer before you ended up hard bricking your phone, your current bootloader is based on the 4.4.2 rom, so it is impossible to downgrade to previous images. If you were stubborn and skipped this information, you would have tried to manually flash the 4.4 image with mfastboot commands and just purposely left out the bootloader, if you did this, then as soon as you got the 4.4.2 OTA to update and accepted it, you would have hard bricked your phone.
Now with all that said, it may be possible to take the NON-HLOS.bin and fsg.mbn from the 4.4 SBF T-Mobile/Dev Edition image and try to flash that radio/modem to your phone. I would make a backup before doing this though. just follow the fastboot commands for the modem and you should be okay. Remember to follow them exactly.
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
I am not entirely sure that you can use the 4.4 modem with a 4.4.2 rom. There may have been some firmware changes that prevent this from working, but you are welcome to try, I would personally wait until a T-Mobile/Dev Ed SBF 4.4.2 image appears and try the same procedure with that instead, but you are welcome to "chance" it
Thanks for the help.
In the meantime, I've read this thread and this one. So, I tried to flash the Rogers Canada 4.4.2 image. Everything runs fine, but still no radio.
But, I currently run the instructions from here to return to stock, and so I didn't know I had to flash NON-HLOS.bin file. I'm going to try this right now.
Thanks again.
Just tried to flash the NON-HLOS.bin file by following your instructions. Tried with both Rogers Canada sbf and with the Official 4.4 image. Same, no radio.
Wait for the official Developer Edition 4.4.2 or I'll contact Motorola. Does somebody know if an there is some ETA from this official image?
Thanks.

Just to give you a heads up, the NON-HLOS.bin file is where most of the modem actually is (all 50-60MB of it), I'll send a PM to the topic creator, because it's not giving the community the right information, they are missing that critical piece.
Be careful with your bootloader, the FR version may be the same as the UK bootloader (30.B3), the Rodgers version is (30.B4) meaning you would no longer be able to flash the whole SBF for the FR version because it would have a lower bootloader. However, you would be safe by just flashing the system image, but I would recommend not taking any OTA updates if you flash it.
Also remember that radios require a reset/power down, because it needs to get the information from the SIM card to use the particular radio frequencies. Also make sure the APN is correctly configured, this may also cause an issue.
There may be another Developer Edition 4.4 image directly from Moto that you could try, I think it takes 24 hours for them to get back with you giving you the link to their google drive though, however, it may be the same as the T-Mobile one on SBF.
You could also attempt getting the patched files from a 4.4.2 OTA image and merging it with a 4.4 radio (basically over-writing some of the files in the 4.4 version), I am unsure if this would work, but in theory it should, since that's what is happening during the update. However, I don't know if there are checks or anything, don't brick your phone because of me
Thanks for your message.
I've tried to flash the modem part only, then switch off/on the phone. No way, no radio. As I flashed the Rogers firmware, yes, my bootloader has been upgraded to 30B4.
Only way now is to wait for the official Developer Edition 4.4.2 zip, or to contact Motorola.

Stuck between a rick and a hard place , been trying to warn folks not to flash the new 4.4.2 sbf firmware, the list gets bigger and bigger by the day if people who either hard brick or have no radio signal. I actually tried to just have a warning sticky for this reason and was denied by the moderators. All.I can suggest is flash the modem for south american variants as there 4.4.2 sbf firmware is available, also flash the fsg.mbn file too

He wouldn't have been able to flash a 4.4 image anyways because he used the 4.4.2 FR image. The only reason to upgrade via OTA/SBF is if you are certain that your phone matches the SBF. Otherwise there are too many possible complications to list here. His best bet is the NON-HLOS and fsg from that 4.4.2 version since it has the 4.4 modem and the fixes/modifications of the 4.4.2 as well. Or he could try to "manually" update the T-mobile 4.4 SBF modem, by copying the T-mobile 4.4.2 OTA modem patches and overwriting the select few files in the SBF, then flashing the new image.
However, in reality, it's probably best to wait for the "official" SBF anyways.

Yes that's what I wrote, I've seen the bootloader has been upgraded. As the official ROM for the Moto X DE already includes the french, it's not a big deal for me to get stuck with the ghost.en.US ROM. But as I've already flashed a 4.4.2 (the french one), I need the official 4.4.2 which is not yet available.
I've read in another thread, Motorola has accepted to exchange some phones in that case, I cross my fingers.
Hi,
I had a chat yesterday with the Motorola Service. This issue can be covered by the warranty only for Developer Edition. Now my problem is the cost to send the Moto from France to the US, but I think this may be interesting for people with the same issue.
Or we have to wait for the official release of the T-Mobile 4.4.2 ROM, but I couldn't get an ETA.
stock 4.4.2 boot.img
i flashed faux123 custom kernel and was not aware it was for 4.4 the updater app allowed me to install it
now my phone is screwed up
does anyone know where I can find the stock kernel image for 4.4.2 on unlocked xt1053 dev edition

There is no leaked 4.4.4 full SBF yet. In a couple weeks, maybe a month it will probably be released.
As long as you never downgraded from a higher version to the german 4.4.2, you can take the OTA without risk. You will need stock Recovery, no Xposed, and no significant modifications made to /system.
Assuming you are full stock and haven't made modifications, the OTA should install without issue.
We will need more details to properly advise you.

If you used RSDLite and fully flashed the SBF to your phone, or used mfastboot and flashed ALL PARTS to your phone, you are safe to take whatever 4.4.4 OTA is pushed to you.
If you only flashed "parts" and have mixed versions (system.img from one rom, no-hols.bin from another, etc), then you need to be careful.. or if you have one version on your phone and try to downgrade it to a lower version.
As @samwathegreat said, there is no leak of a 4.4.4 SBF yet, (well the Verizon one has but we would not recommend flashing it on anything but a Verizon XT1060 phone)
The guys that maintain http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0 do a great job FINDING the full SBF files, and posting them as soon as they get their hands on them. But since that site isn't owned, operated or supported by Moto, we have no way of knowing how long it will take for the SBF's to show up.

If you have flashed modem files from a different rom than the rest of your phone, any OTA will likely fail its pre-validation checks.
Mixing parts of two different roms isn't advised. Taking updates can fail, brick your phone, or cause other unexpected results.
Sure, there are one or two who say they've done it and are "fine" but we've seen enough posts to know the next OTA, next time they flash, they will likely encounter issues.
My advice. stay with what you have, and wait for the 4.4.4 SBF for the model/carrier you have, and fully flash it. It is the SAFEST way to go.

Hello,
I have the same problem. I bought a US Moto X Dev Ed. and flashed the german retail with the instructions from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/development/update-xt1058-to-android-4-4-2-uk-t2628381
Is it right that I should not accept the OTA because I deleted the modem lines?

When do you think we can expect the sbf to be out? The update was out a long time back. Is the sbf uploded by developers or by Motorola itself?

While the SBF's for the Developer Editions are released by Moto, the other SBF's are not. Instead, they are "leaked" to the internet. Therefore we really don't know. Its whenever the person leaking the file gets their hands on it, and it makes its way to the net.
Many don't realize that http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ is neither owned, nor operated, nor sponsored by Moto.
If you have an unlocked bootloader, you can go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/development/roms-stock-roms-t2499594 and flash the 4.4.2 ROM link, which is a flashable zip for twrp. Once you wipe and flash that you can accept the 4.4.4 ota, which should fix your problem. If you're locked, you just need to wait to get the sbf.

I hope you realize if he was already on a 4.4.4 firmware from any carrier and does what you've told him to do.... Boom... Instant brick.
Please be careful about what advice you give, especially with the easily brickable moto x. I'm sure you don't want to cause anyone to brick. That would be a real drag. ?

If you read through the linked post you would find out that the 4.4.2 zip I told him to flash to doesn't include the bootloader and can be safely flashed from 4.4.2. I've done it successfully and it saved me from waiting for the sbf.
@MystaWright please don't flash 4.4.2 if you were on a higher version already. If you do, you will likely destroy your device, or at least have some serious issues. ?

I actually flashed the twrp recovery and downloaded the 4.4.4 sprint Rom in the development section and flashed that and I'm up and running now. Thanks for the concern and advice.
Already softbricked. Would flash the 4.4.4 rom (zip) from the link if I had a way to get the file on the device.

Right, but the bootloader and gpt.bin would then be mismatched and when in that state, taking OTA has bricked the phone more often than not.
So its VERY RISKY suggesting that.

[Q] Moto XT1058 help going back to stock

I installed TWRP and Cyanogenmod 12.1 on my XT1058, and would like to know if I can flash the stock ROM. I already have the link, but would like to know if there is a problem with going from 5.1 to 4.4.4, and what the difference is between a retail rom or the one of a provider, and how to know if my phone is retail or not. Thanks
there's a way!!

I believe there are threads in General Section for getting back to Stock and receiving the OTA.
Also if your phone came without any contract from any carrier, it should be a Retail one. (You should have checked the firmware name before flashing CM for confirmation)

But how can i know? Does it have to have branding or something that makes it diferentes? And what happens if i install a carrier one in a retail one? And viceversa? Also would there be any problems if i go to a previous android version? Because ive read that there can be problems if you downgrade the bootloader or something

I would stick with the stock rom for your phone's model and if its carrier branded, the rom for that carrier/model.
I would suggest you read -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/info-warning-risks-downgrading-impacts-t3058202 It FULLY explains why I recommend that.

If you have installed custom rom than you can easily go back to stock. but if you taken the ota than don't try to downgrade. most probably your device will get bricked. Check your bootloader version. if its 30.B7 than only flash the stock 4.4.4 otherwise don't.

you will be fine flashing factory image. you don't need to delete motoboot.img or anything. about retail or carrier i don't know because here we have retail versions only. if you flash 5.1 you can't downgrade back to 4.4.4. otherwise it fine.

You misunderstood. AND COMPLETELY MISSED... Item #13 at -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/info-warning-risks-downgrading-impacts-t3058202
I've said it before.. and I'll say it again... Some will tell you... "its ok, just skip motoboot.img and gpt.bin when flashing" but sorry, that isn't safe either. If you later get prompted for and take an OTA update you'll again likely brick. Further when motoboot.img and GPT.BIN are missmatched from the rest of a STOCK Moto rom we've seen "bugs" or "issues" of things no working, like speaker phone, Settings -> Security menu, etc which are not a problem when all parts of your phone are consistent.
That being said.. 3rd party or custom roms usually don't touch gpt.bin, motoboot.img, the modem files, etc.. they usually only touch system and boot.
As @miju12 has explained, since you still have a 30.B7 bootloader, you should be able to still flash a STOCK MOTO 4.4.4 or Higher ROM without bricking. But, you wont be able to downgrade later.
You asked about flashing the Brazil 5.1 image.. IF your phone is a Brazil XT1058 you can flash it. If your phone is an XT1058 from another carrier and you have unlocked the bootloader, you can flash it. The Radio files between XT1058 variants have been the same (at least those I've seen). However, once you flash that image, you might not be able to flash to anything else... Again, read -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/info-warning-risks-downgrading-impacts-t3058202 and see items 9 & 12

But will this still happen if i have the same bootloader version as the one in 4.4.4? Because as far as i know, the bootloader version i have is 30.B7, and that is the same version of KitKat 4.4.4

custom rom doesn't have radio etc included in it. it is generally boot and system files. custom roms are all same for every model. it doesn't depend on carriers.

You can't equate the build numbers of custom roms to STOCK Moto Roms. Sorry. They are not the same.
As I typed a few posts ago...

Going Stock 4.4.4 -> CM11/CM12 -> Stock 4.4.4 is fine because custom roms do not usually touch anything but system and boot...
I would just suggest trying to go back to the SAME Stock 4.4.4 you had on before you flashed a custom rom. there are less chances of issues that way. (which is pretty much what I said earlier in this thread )
Great thanks!!
