So I've noticed yellowing in the upper left hand corner of my N6...it's fairly faint, but it's certainly noticeable...what's the best way to go about fixing this? Do I have to change RGB settings through a custom kernel, or what's the easiest way? Thank you.

This might work
http://nexus5.wonderhowto.com/how-to/fix-screen-burns-your-nexus-6-other-amoled-device-0159397/
I actually just used that last night because I do have a little screen burn as well...seems to temporarily fix that, but it reverts back after a little bit...is that something that has to be done on a consistent basis until it permanently goes away? As for the yellowing, it didn't seem to do anything.
I bought the N6 used n it's in excellent shape, I just never noticed any of this when I bought it...out of all the Amoled devices I've had I've never had burn-in problems...
Anyone else have input?
You can definitely try playing around with the rgb values, but other than that it is a hardware issue that really can't be fixed and you will have to replace the screen.

OK, what's the best way to go about changing the RGB values? Do I need a custom kernel? I am running the Pure Shamu ROM.

Most probably, it's happening for burn-in. Just go to accessibility>color inversion and turn on the toggle and set the screen time out to max. keep it like that. This may solve the issue but I will recommend you to replace the device.

OK, I'm gonna call support now...
Can anyone attest to everything working out well with the $500 security deposit option for receiving a replacement device first?
What's the best number to call for support? Anyone have a number for the white glove dept? I just wanna speak with someone who I can understand and get to the point...
Does anyone know how to reach the white glove dept at Motorola for my replacement? I'm having trouble finding out if my credit card was processed or not for the advance exchange...I got an email last night saying my order was processed n the funds would be on hold for the security deposit, now today I receive an email from them saying my card didn't go through...so far it's been jumping through a lot of hoops n hitting dead ends with Motorola support...difficult to get someone intelligible on the line it seems...
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you kindly...

I have a pixel stuck on blue. It shows on red, white, and grey backgrounds. I thought it was dead but when looking at it with a magnifying glass its obviously blue. Its gone on blue, green, and black backgrounds.
I tried the dead pixel detect and fix app from the market but dont want to let it run for 20 minutes as its designed for LCDs not AMOLEDs.
What can I do?
Also, can changing your DPI increase the likelihood of dead/stuck pixels? Had no screen problems until I ran 240 DPI for a day.
So I guess OLEDs dont really get stuck pixels which means its most likely broken. How freaking lame considering Ive had this Note for barely over a week. There is some serious QA issues with these screens.
In the same situation but it is a small cluster of red pixels to the left side of screen when there is a grey back round and low light settings.
Sadly Samsung will continue this
see no evil hear no evil speak no evil ethos in regards to their after sales screen support

My point still remains that DPI has no affect on whether a dead pixel develops or not. THere is no "stress" associated with one DPI over the other. I hope that's clear.

Yet you make a claim with no factual support yourself.
If this was truly the case, you'd see much more instances of people coming here complaining that the change of DPI has caused stuck pixels on their screen.
If you still want to believe that the change of DPI might have something to do with it, then operate on that hypothesis. Change the DPI to 160 and leave it at that for a day. See if that will help. If your hypothesis is correct, it'll go away, or you get another dead pixel.

Um I made no claim..I made a thread asking questions. Anyways I was going to apologize, I'm just $2,100 in on three Notes now and all have different screen quirks. I want to love the device so badly but 5 days into ownership just sucks.
You paid 2100 for three phones? Why not use a credit card with insurance? Thats crazy. Are you able to return them?

I would return them if you could. I understand your frustration. $2100 is a lot of dough, even if it's not all for you.
Return them and try a different vendor. This will increase your odds of getting it from a different assembly line with hopefully better quality control.

Dont know what to tell you, except sorry really. Try contacting Samsung USA. They are not legally obligated to help you but if you get the right rep they will accept it.
DPI has NOTHING to do with pixel load, the only things that are affected (hardware-wise):
.)GPU
.)CPU
simply speaking:
the display controller gets the info what to display from the GPU, it doesnt even recognize a difference in DPI, as it represents not the "real" hardware spec "DPI", it represents a value which tells the OS which iconsize (ie. 265x265pix) it should draw on the screen. this under respect of the "real" hardware DPI of the screen (318x307) determines how it looks, it changes nothing physically (on pixel level)!
I know it sounds confusing, but think a little about it...
Anyway, I can assure anyone that different "DPI" settings (the hardware DPI value cannot be "set", it has to be manufactured this way) do nothing to your hardware!
Another thing mentioned by me above (I repeat it because its important): The real hardware DPI of our screen is 318x307 and NOT 320 as almost everyone thinks! Due to the irregular size of subpixels and subpixel arrays the horizontal and vertical DPI are almost never exactly the same!
edit:
one thing on different DPI settings IS interessting, but is also logical due to different maths to calculate the above calculation:
320 DPI setting has much more "banding" in some apps then 240 DPI, for example in "brilliant quote": with 320 it has medium banding in the background, with 240 almost no banding visible!
think i should post this in the corresponding screen threads too...

I did pay with a card. Just a hassle when you deal with other things that make a stupid phone less of a priority. They would not honor an exchange until I threatened to call MasterCard. Seriously though I am just rolling the dice on a device with another screen issue. There is something wrong with every single one Ive seen.
Thanks for that info TML. Been running 240 dpi either way. I run 2560x1600 on my desktop so it feels more natural to me
Pixel Fixing
Hey All,
Any one having this problem, did any one try factory resetting the handset twice or thrice when this problem was persisting?
Even I faced a similar problem. I bought my new GT-N7000 on 5 June'12 & spotted a dot on 10th june.
I've tried different application but none worked. Then I tried factory resetting my Note, did it twice which actually did not cure it completely but the dot decreased in size. Now, I'll wait for some time to see if gets disappeared automatically after some time....
Hi,
Could anyone be kind enough to show why AMOLED operates differently to LCD thus making conventional stuck pixel fix unusable?
Thanks.

No. i said i dont see any physical problems. but i was asking about problems like checking dead pixels, checking that colors are right, checking other things that maybe require installing some apps for that, etc.
There are a couple of apps on the play store that can check (or help to check) for dead pixels apparently. I've not bothered with them and I just put a white screen on the N7 and looked at it. If I cant see a dead pixel, then I cant see the point of worrying about anything that my eyes are unable to notice.
All I did was
(1) Check the S/N so I could tell it was not a returned old version
(2) See if I could see any scratches or dents or any physical damage
(3) Turned it on and checked the screen had no dead pixels
(4) Checked for screen lift on the left
(5) Checked for light bleed
(6) Checked for any rippling along the sides
(7) Checked the OS version
(8) Checked the speaker was okay using the free film
That was enough for me. I'm a bit OCD, but I'm happy enough that its not got any obvious or reported issues.
Turn upp the brightness check for lightbleed in a dark room and check so that the screen hasn't lifted from the glass. Other than that there's nothing special you need to check in my opinion.

Hey guys-
I have the galaxy s6 and I have a weird problem which I think may or may not be burn in. Someone please take the phone outside and try this:
1. Put phone under as much sunlight as possible
2. Open display to white screen.
3. Now look at the borders of the display(about 1 inch from top and bottom and 1/4 inch from left and right side.
Do you see a grey color line bordering that chunk of the display?
I am thinking of contacting t-mobile but my gut tells me this is in the design of the display assembly. Please let me know. Thanks in advance guys.

I will certainly try tomorrow. It does seem like it will be an issue on all models based on what the other Xda user said and confirmed the same thing I have seen.
Hey everyone. I just got the Blu r1 HD on the mail and I love this phone. Everything I've thrown at it works flawlessly and I've had no trouble except for this one problem.
There are periods of time where the touch screen will drop input for a half a second to 3 seconds at a time. Usually it works fine but sometimes I'll try to type and I keep missing on the keyboard because the touch screen drops inputs. It's not just the keyboard it's anywhere else too
Most of the timeit works well but when this starts happening it's aggravating to use. Anyone know what causes it?
I'm gonna have to return the phone regardless but I really would like to know if there's a possible fix or if this problem is inherent to all models. I really hope not because I really like this phone.
Thanks all so much

I have noticed this too. Kernel source was just released. I'm going to go ahead and blow wind but I feel there is a multi-touch delay. Kernel source being released should fix this.
I just feel how this thing sips power that it was tuned that way. Annoying? Yes. Correctable? More than likely. I'd say hold your ponies before you send that back and buy one thats been fixed to not be bootloader unlocked.
Cheers!

Thanks for your response. Do you get consistently sluggish or is it responsive with random bouts of dropped inputs? Because it's the latter for me.
I almost think it's something do with the digitizer controller or firmware but I'm not sure.
I also occasionally notice ghost swipes when this happens.
Feels like the oneplus one all over again hopefully the kernel source being available helps us find a solution. I'll take a look myself but wouldn't know the first place to start to debug the touch screen
Thank you!

I also agree ... I've heard of some who have mentioned these touchscreen issues, but I have 4 BLU R1-HD and none of them have had any problems.
I woke up this morning, and there is a horizontal line in the middle of the screen which doesn't accept touch input. The area is about 1cm high and stretches across the whole screen.
I have hard reset but still this area exists. Has anyone heard of such a thing?
Thanks .

Does not need drop for this to happen. Production issues happened, always, albeit at low percentage (3-5% maybe). I'm not sure if warranty covers this, though.

Then what warranty do covers? If not production issues? Warranty won't cover if he would have dropped the phone and this is clear manufacturer fault.

Yes, i know this!
Even pacemakers are not 100% sure and reliable so there is nothing strange there but I'm looking at this from more human side and to give this man some consolation so to speak, that's all.
But of course you are also right here and to be totally honest those displays with production issues in 3-5% are pretty low if this is to be the case though.
I have heard of such things but your phone must be relatively new for this to happen unprovoked? If you had it for some months and the touchscreen failed only now something happened to it I think, if you didn't drop it then maybe some exposure to extreme temperatures did it. I hope it is new so you can try to return it or at least have it fixed under warranty.

Is this extreme enough?
Thanks all of you, if its a manufactures fault then of course it will be covered by warranty... Point is, it will still leave me phone less for the time its being corrected.
But, the fault has...... progressed. It has now got slightly better, or the non responsive area has seemed to move. The area which was unresponsive yesterday is now ok, but there are other areas which are responding randomly.
I do live in the tropics, could be overheating, but i'm sure that is physical and that it will continue to come and go until i get it repaired....
