WARNING!!! Fake vs Real Note 4 - Galaxy Note 4 General

Warning!! I just came across this at work when my co-worker asked me to set up his phone. I realized something was wrong when I saw the screen and size of this note 4. I decided to show it off for those who is considering picking up one from ebay or Craigslist. See the comparison from a real note 4 and see for yourself. There's no real difference w/ the software but the hardware might be a concern since the battery(charger) is not Original it might blow-up or melt. The fake one is really flaky and has weird vibration and I would not recommend using it at ALL!!

yes yes we know all about the fakes for months. they are pretty good and not going to blow up on you.
also they are a good deal at $160 incl shipping from china.

I wouldn't know how good is the phone if it's has random vibration from it...do you?

you dont get random vibrations from it. the clone is a normal HDC manufactured 3G stock android phone with a note 4 "skin". You can root it. i've bought both a clone (910Fake off dhgate) and real (910U off ebay). they are both good.
Your clone is defective if it gives you random vibrations. Get it exchanged or replace it.

Unfortunately, some people aren't good at this and buy from Craiglist or somewhere with a no return policy so this helps them out to figure from the fakes. BTW, like I stated it's my co-worker not mines. I told him already it's fake.

well it doesnt matter who owns the phone. if its not working properly recommend you reflash it.

at least if its a software problem it can be corrected.

what do you mean haha ? you can flash it with the MTK tools. recovery does work with the fake note 4, the code is just different.

I gave it back and said I can't touch this device because I don't want to be liable if anything happen. If it was mine sh*t I would do it but it's not.

Bought a fake Galaxy S5

Realized I bought a fake galaxy s5 earlier today. I didn't know there were so good fakes out there now, I haven't kept up with cell phones since the HTC EVO 3D. I'm mad, I bought it for $325 . I am so ****ing pissed at myself for being so stupid. I should have come on here first and done some research but I was dying for a new phone since I have been on the Nokia Lumia 900 for the past year and its on its last legs, saw the 325 price tag on CL and jumped on it thinking I got a good deal. Never again will I let impulses get the best of me. This is more of a rant, but also here is this guys information in case any of you are in the Central Florida region (this is a copy and paste of a CL ad I just made warning other users on CL):
This mother****er sold me a fake Galaxy S5. His ads are the following links:
links are blocked because I have less than 10 posts
His phone number is: 7862021013
And he calls himself T. He is a tall black man that drives a sedan. He will ask you to meet him in front of Walmart on Turkey Lake Rd.
DO NOT BUY THE GALAXY S5 or any phones from him, no matter how low he is going. The S5 is 100% fake. Run CPU-ID app on phone and you will see that it does not have a Snapdragon process but an ARM Cortex old ass one. It also does not have 16gb memory but 1.7gb. Also if you look at the box you will notice that it says 3GB of RAM when the original Galaxy S5 really has 2GB. This man is a lie and a cheat. Do not get conned like I have. I gave him $325 and am stuck with a fake ass replica.
This is only fair warning to other CL users, I would hate to hear of others fall victim to this con.
**edit: Updated with pictures of the fake s5. I should have looked at the box itself more closely, right there it said 3GB RAM, Fell so stupid.

For $325 for an S5 you should expect it to be stolen, Broken, or bad IMEI. Or in this case fake. I NEVER use craglist anymore due to this happening to people with any & everything. I also Highly Recomend Swappa.com I see fakes sold ALL the time on Cragslist. I Usually send harassing texts about to them as well. lol.
But could you not tell it was fake? I know they have gotten better at making decent knock offs but usually at first glance of the front and or software / Screen I can tell easily.
That wretch, I feel for you! Just make sure when you get the S5 get the new one with more memory. Just chalk it up as a lesson learned, heck you have a little toy to play with now.

I didn't look at it very closely, like I said I haven't really been in the market for phones for awhile. I didn't realize the fakes are so much better than it used to be. I also did 0 research before buying and the thought of a fake one didn't occur, stupid me. I also put up pictures just now to show you all what I got.

Ya. I don't know what happened today, normally I'm very skeptical, but the dire need for a new phone got the better of me and I really wanted the S5...thought i hit gold with this deal...I would rather have donated or gambled that money away then give it to that conning ****er on CL. Orlando Police are jokes. They don't do squat EVEN if you give them all the evidence they need. I only have his phone number, I don't have a pic of him or his car plate. I should have been more skeptical when I saw him take out a burner phone...so stupid. I also put up pictures just now to show you all what I got.
The first giveaway is that the earpiece should be black and not silver.
So sorry you got screwed over man.

You have a phone number and a CR add, they could easily find him.
Dude, be honest here, you were buying a new phone for $325 from a dude in a parking lot. You KNEW you were likely buying stolen property and didn't care. Your not calling the police has nothing to do with their competence .. or lack there of.

No man, I just thought I got a good deal lol. 325 is still a lot of money for a stolen/fake phone. I have gotten good deals like that in the past before, and have met ppl in a parking lot, so this wasn't very off to me. But I think I probably will call them tomorrow.

Ya, you can tell just from the CPU-ID pictures I have there, the processor isn't the real one and theres only 2GB of usable memory...100% fake. Also the outside cosmetics are off. I wish I had researched this before I bought it. Stupid me. And no I didn't check the camera, I was actually in a rush to leave cuz it was 96 degrees out here today and I was sweating balls lolz. Next time I'll meet people in a starbucks or something and take time to look over what I'm buying
For me the first thing that popped was the led flash. In every fake cell phone it has that look/texture whereas in original phones it has a totally different look. For the author of this thread, this is something to be learned. Even if the phone is sealed in a box, open it, check it, look carefully at the exterior and then look in the phone info. If the seller does not want you to open the box simply pass, there are enough phones out there.

I just took a look at the home button and it is black, from the outside it does look remarkably well done! But I would never buy on a parking lot, that is always fishy, no matter where you are from.

Anyone know a safe way to get a working Note 4?

I have recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 off of Swappa, but when I received it, it had the damned ddi: mmc read error problem that I have read up on and found is a hardware issue. My question is if anyone know a place to buy this phone that is new or at least refurbished by Samsung. Preferably the T-Mobile Carrier version because I want to keep an unlocked bootloader. Especially looking for people who ran into the same issue and were able to find a seller with a phone that didn't have aforementioned problems. I am just really unsure about places as I really want to have the Note 4, best Samsung device IMO, and hoping someone can help.
If Gazelle sells them, I would trust them. I'm just about to send my Note 4 back to tmobile for trade in. Not sure exactly what happens to those phones. My 4 is on excellent condition so they shouldn't have to do too much.. excepting I of course tripped Knox. Not sure what they do about that.

I know for a fact that tmobile sells refurbished note 4's for 400 bones
Should be a ton of them out there somewhere, along with spare parts, considering n5 was never released in Europe.

There are at least two T-Mobile stores in the Atlanta area selling what they say are NEW Note 4s, one had them on display, the other said they had them in the back, but they weren't on display. Call a few in your area and ask.
I would only by one recertification with a warranty!

Official exchange success thread.

So we are still a couple weeks away from replacements being available, but I wanna start a thread where we can say if we have gotten them from local stores yet. A way to let others who are waiting too know they should start to check their local stores too. So if you have successfully completed an exchange in store let us know! Thank you!

Just an FYI, I spoke with tmo on the phone today and the rep said the first of the replacement shipments are expected next week. They are going directly to the locations.
He did not promise they would be there in a week and had no idea of how many would be shipped where. He suggested I contact the store near me directly at that time to find out if any have arrived.
This was based on the most recent notes he said they were getting daily.

Well that thread has "waiting room" in it and there are already so many threads on this matter.
Should the admins feel this is already being said they can close it. Honestly wasn't trying to get everyone in a mood. I'm just like everyone else here annoyed at the recall and playing the new phone limbo game as well. Figured a clean thread where we could say we are getting them in store would of been good. My apologies it upset you though ?.

Tmobile CS just told me they are waiting for samsung to announce a recall and exchange program..... My only option is a refund on the phone and to buy it again when it launches next month.... what the actual hell is the truth are we able exchange in store or not!?

All the reps I've talked with say they won't have replacements before the 30th cut off. So that exchange in store crap is just what it is crap. And of course i know that the program is live in the US it's just only we know that the stores and CS have no clue at all.
so how will they be shipping the replacement note 7's. just the device itself or will it be a complete retail package as when purchased new? most likely just the device itself

You take back the phone and all accessories to the store there is no shipping of the devices due to the danger of them exploding in transit. All exchanged must be done in store. As for when that's gonna happen is still in limbo.

exactly, i believe they just want the device back and I still think that they are going to box up only the replacement phone and give us that.... without accessories cause we already got them with the first purchase. but it would be great if they send us a retail package and we could keep the accessories from the first device. I havent heard anything official so it's only speculation on my part.....
I myself am not annoyed with the recall at all. Pretty surprised Samsung didn't mess around with this with how few problems came up. What was it 35? Good pub taking care of business immediately. IMO

Guys/girls this isnt a claim for insurance or anything like that. We are gonna get brand new phones with all new accessories that's the point of the recall. Samsung themselves have said New phones and new phones come with accessories. If we apply your logic to this, someone whos phone exploded while charging is gonna have to keep a melted charging cord and possibly fried wall adapter haha.

Is my phone a refurbished? Please help!

I just bought a new phone from company and I have downloaded the app "Phone Info Samsung" in order to check the refurbishment. But it shows my phone is a refurbished one. After that, I downloaded another app and it shows my phone is original. Should I worry about my phone? I feel bad after seeing this. Sorry for my English.

the phone info Samsung one is not very accurate, it tells me that one of my Notes have root and the other not but neither of them have root and both bought brand new

I wouldn't think so, did you register it with Samsung for warranty and keep receipts of purchase?
if you did I don't really see it being a problem if the phone is in perfect condition
I'm of coarse the odd ball I don't care if mine is a refurb or not. If it works and no damage there is no difference. Orig refurb double refurb. They all work the same.
Some times a refurb can be better than the orig. Not saying this one is.

Yeah, I did. I kept it all, but I think Samsung would not do that to their customer. Because I bought it directly from Samsung company. I think that if it was a refurb, it would not come with the warranty card. Moreover, my phone is in perfect condition.

The reason that I do care about it because I have been saved money for 2 years. I don't want a refurb. Do you have any idea on my phone? Anyways, Thank you so much.

Even offic refurbs have warranty
Thats why I say what I did As a end user you never know the difference except that the app is telling you it is..
I have gotten refurbs from lg and assurion and most have been ok other than one with a bad firmware flash from the gate but I fixed that lol:good:

I might try to flash new firmware, but I am afraid of losing my CSC.

My concern would be the "water proofness" post refurb.....
However i never get my phone wet, and don't plan to, but accidents happen and it's nice to be able to count on the water resistance. Maybe check with Samsung, I would.....it's your hard earned/saved money.

since it was bought directly from Samsung then the ip68 certification would be intact

One can only hope......I'd at the very least would want a discount on a "previously used device" If it is in fact refurbed the pricing should have reflected that. IMO

Here is one way to check whether your phone is refurbished or not: use a test code(##786#) at the Phone app. This can work for most of the Android phones.

Quote to fix my 6T (Get ready to laugh)

So my 6T quit reading sim cards, after about 20 times trying to reboot and install the sim and switch slots etc, the tray broke and the sim fell into the phone. I WAS able to dig it out and put the SIM back into her G6 (my girlfriend liked my 7 pro and was gonna use my 6t I had as spare)
I gave up after factory resetting, flashing the ROM etc. and decided to send it in. I had a feeling they MIGHT try to hit me for a new motherboard because I used a pick to get the SIM card out (I had no choice, she needs the phone for work) and I would have been OK with paying the 150 dollars or whatever. Look at this comprehensive parts list. I'm pretty sure it's a new phone.

Seems a little high considering you can get certified refurbished for about $400.
I got mine used in pristine condition for $350 (8/128 midnight black).
That is a pretty extensive list they made though.( You even scratched the sapphire camera lens ?)

lol no, everything worked fine aside from the sim card. phone had normal wear and tear on it.
I would get it fixed. Much better deal than buying a new one :silly:
Not sure what the internal Sim card contacts look like but maybe you could watch a tear down video and get your own repair kit. It might be more minor than you realize. "Jerry Rigs Everything" is pretty great.
Lol, that's an interesting quote...
here's the device that had to get every last screw replaced because it's "damaged"
lol

I see they neglected to charge you for replacing the pick and the sim card.

they're very nice!
let me know if you guys want me to keep you posted on what transpires for future cases.
got a call today, he heard i was unhappy, and asked what he can do to make it better. asked him to sell me another motherboard and i'd be very happy. waiting for a call back.
So I really can't reveal how much, but they're offering me a refurbished 6T at a very, very steep discount.

Lol u think they come on here and look at users price quotes? I'm sure anyone can get one for the same price they're offering u. The 7 is out their just dropping what they can because they'll have a large influx of refurbished 6ts. It should cost 20-$30 to get your slot fixed contact a real cell phone technician or do it yourself it's not rocket science
This is very interesting and providers great insight to those tear down videos. They could use this to help determine the real cost somewhat to build the phone.
Motherboard, camera, glass...expected to be expensive due to complexity of manufacturing and technology...the .05 cent screen protector...haha.
I didn't laugh BTW..

Very informative post junior member, thanks for your valuable input into the topic at hand.
Back on topic, I'm glad you got yourself a refurbished device at a good price. The original quote in the OP was ridiculous.
