Lets collect information if this would possible at all?
Our Shift have LCD 800x480 native but VGA res. on WinMobile part.
WinMobile have 64K colors limit but not resolution,
take some examples of devices running WinMobile in 480x800 res. like X1,Touch HD..
So I am thinking about drivers related problem-solution,
what's the graphic chipset onboard (maybe chipset is limited)? what's the driver? if it is similar to Touch HD it would be interesting to replace on Shift
Also Yesterday I've try Nyditot virtual screen and set 800x480 with no positive results (it stayed in VGA emulating 800x480).
no surprise there "Nyditot virtual screen" doesnt do nething with the drivers - is pure software emulation... if someone could post the HKLM\Dricers\Display section of the touch HD and the dll that is listed in the subkey i will have a look
Kris
I think that it's not only drivers and the rom.. it's a much more complicated thing for the fullscreen.
Hi @all,
most of the users need full wide screen resolution - but nobody solved that problem at the moment. You must modify the driver on OS Image Level - probaly only system builders know how "how to" :-(
Hello,
I've downloaded the android Netflix application from :
androidtablets.net/forum/android-tablet-news/19291-download-netflix-1-3-working-honeycomb-tablets
and it worked. However, the application only appears in a third of the screen in a window. Just like I had a phone sitting on my Ziio tablet playing netflix. The Ziio is a 7" tablet with a resolution of 800x480. I've tried to look at the apk through winrar but for those files I could open there was mention of width and height but no numbers.
I'm hoping someone can help. This appears to be the right forum to post this inquiry since my tablet is not listed and not a phone. Thank you.
I'm running Android 2.2
Hi,
I been using the webtop 3 on my atrix lapdock and it is really amazing
I connected it to my 37" FULLHD LCD screen and chose 1920x1080 50/60Hz as my resolution but it still looks like 1280x720,does someone knows if it is even possible to output 1080p from the droid 4? (I have seen posts about getting webtop 2 in Atrix to output 1080p).
How does webtop 3 works in terms of outputing, since it is plain ICS there is no X server, right?
Is there any config files that I can play with?
It's just in the normal Android settings menu, though I can't remember exactly where, probably under display.
The option only appears once you have an HDMI cable hooked up, and I don't have one available right now, sorry.
Yep, under Dispaly you can find Webtop resolution and can choose 1920x1080 50 or 60Hz.
I see the option, but it's greyed out for me, for some reason. My TV supports it, but it defaults to 1280*720

I`ve just tried it again, connect to my 40-inch Samsung, choose Webtop, by default it`s 1280x720 - but I can change it to 1920x1080.

are you sure you don't have a 1080i TV and not a 1080p? webtop might be picky between the two.
This is often the issue. A lot of 1080i TVs aren't even 1920x1080 they are 1366x768 using cheap panels originally intended for computer use. See if you can find the actual specs, including the native resolution, of your TV. Or post the make and model here.
In any case the phone will be querying the TV for it's capabilities and offering up whatever the TV claims to support.

It's a 42" LG 3DTV from 2011, according to the LG remote control app on my phone it's a 42LW570S-ZD. As far as I can tell it's full 1080P with 100 Hz (so assuming 50 Hz should be no problem either, but it might be picky about this I guess?)
Maybe I should turn off the smooth motion thingy?
Edit: probably a TV related issue indeed, with my projector it works fine. I can select from the whole list of resolutions even though its native resolution is 1024*768.
Edit 2: Now the selection seems to work, not sure why. Maybe playing around with the projector 'unlocked' it, or maybe it was the smooth motion thingy. 1920*1080 seems to be a lower resolution effectively than 1280*720 for some reason, browser still says it's 720P so still need to search some more. Strange thing: 1280*720 @ 60 Hz works great without 'scale to fit' enabled, but same resolution @ 50 Hz doesn't fully fit in the screen. Enabling scale to fit make everything look less sharp, so the resizing algorithms aren't that great.
Edit 3: There's something very fishy going on here. It looks like it's always based on 1280*720 resolution somehow:
- My TV reports the selected resolution, but anything over 1280*720 looks like it's downscaled (horribly).
- Web pages always report 1280*720 resolution via stock browser, even when I'm in 640*480 and can clearly see the lowered resolution.
- Android Assistant always reports 1280*672 (or something) resolution, which is excluding the action bar I guess.
No idea if that's related to my TV or just a general WebTop issue though. The TV seems to respond to every resolution change, and shows the selected resolution in its info bar.
I chose the 1920x1080 all that I am saying it is that it looks like 1280x720 to me.
My TV is Full HD and I use it with my PC in 1920x1080.
Can it be that it scales the picture to be in the same dimension?
Same for me, and the phone seem to report the resolution being 1280*720 regardless of the actual selected resolution.
Also the downscaling algorithm is terrible, 1920*1080 downscaled looks less crisp than 1280*720 full resolution.
Tonight I want to try taking some screenshots, and see what sizes they get.
I was wondering if it could be the HDMI cable, but it passes 1080p just fine for other devices.
acipio Robt.
The chipset(OMAP 4430) should support full HD display and from what I understand on webtop2(on atrix I think) people managed to display the full resolution.
The proof is in the pudding. I took screenshots at 640*480 (clearly blocky when shown on TV, and TV indicates resolution as 640*480), 1280*720, and 1920*1080..
They all have the exact same dimensions!
The actual operating system is running at 1280*720, regardless of which resolution you select! It's resized by the output chip. Nasty nasty!!
(but understandable, else every resolution change would require some apps to restart, and using 1080p instead of 720p would be less fluid while most people can't tell the difference anyway = less customer satisfaction for Average Joe)
So we need some config file hack to enable TRUE 1080p probably.
Edit: XDA forum resizes the pictures, so here they are in full resolution (click the corner icon to view full) - http://imgur.com/a/2DuqK
Edit 2: Even for WebTop 2, it looks like Motorola never stated it supported 1080p - looks like 720p is max. But for older WebTop versions, a higher resolution could be hacked via the terminal, so I'm hoping to find something similar for WebTop 3. So far no luck in any config file or DB I checked.

Yes, without 1080p (or even 1280x1024) support I'll send back the Razr Maxx inkl. HD Dock BT Mouse & Keyboard. I was testing the Webtop 3 solution to connect to a regular Business Monitor (e.g. 19" and 24") to run a virtual Win7 Desktop via Citrix Receiver over that - but with a limit at (true) 720p this is no acceptable solution for me.

I have a large number of my photographs prepared for web viewing and copied to my Nook HD+ micro SD card. These are scaled to a maximum of 900 pixels high or 1350 pixels wide for portability. When using the Quickpic app there is really no problem. In Quickpic, in horizontal screen mode, double taps cycle through three magnifications; 100% viewing (a necessity for me), and fit to height or fit to width. The last two are nice features but most likely one or the other will force the image off the screen. There is no ‘best fit’, which I don’t understand. Any minor inconvenience this poses pales compared to my web browsing experience, which is really where I want to use these and other similar size images.
...To the heart of the problem:
The images I mentioned above are a subset of my 'misterpixel' photos up on Pbase and (almost) all are scaled to this same 900 or 1350 pixel (original) size. The ‘original’ images should easily fit in the Nook HD+ in horizontal mode where the screen is 1280 high and 1920 wide….but that isn’t remotely the case using any of the Android internet browsers I have tried so far. With the Nook HD+ sideways the images typically switch between two different sizes upon double taps and neither of these two sizes fit to the screen in any usable fashion. To be honest, I can’t figure out what the images are scaling to as nothing fits to screen even though most normal web pages behave as expected . My suspicions are that the problem isn’t the browsers but some configuration in the Nook itself or perhaps the Nook’s version of Android. Or perhaps it is that in conjunction with the way the PBase pages are set up. Worst case, do I need to root my Nook to fix this issue?
I should say at this point I expected that when using any of these Android browsers and using ‘desktop mode’ that they would in fact mimic my desktop. On my actual desktop screen these PBase images appear in a proper 1 to 1 (100%) manner. I even tried downloading Android browser add-ons to more closely mimic various desktop browsers and it was no help.
As high resolution tablets and photography mix this will increasingly become a major problem. but for right now I’m at a loss as to how to fix this.

I'm no expert on displays, but maybe it has something to do with the pixel density that we use on the Nook. It may affect the way the browsers render the image. Are you using the stock rom?
There are some really easy HTML/CSS tricks that you could use to scale the pictures for easy viewing on the web, but you would need to create HTML page(s) and show your images there. Would creating an html page work for your needs? Im happy to show an example if so. Share a link to sample image and I will show you what I mean.
Thanks

Thanks for the offer but I have almost 2000 images up on PBase and I like some of the amenities the web site provides. OK…I’m lazy.
The difference between a desktop web viewing experience and the tablet viewing experience is profound. As a photographer I want my images to be seen in their entirety and in critical instances it is nice if they are seen at 100% where one pixel in the image displays as one pixel on the screen. Clearly the Nook HD+ is capable of doing this and clearly PBase is providing the ‘original’ image so that this can be done…I just can’t seem to do it. From my frame of reference as a photographer this is beyond bizarre and very frustrating.
I’m a newbie here so I am not allowed to post URLs but you are welcome to go to PBase and check out my ‘misterpixel’ photos and see if this is happening on your tablet. Its the 'original' images that give me issues even though they are realtivly small.

Hi folks,
is it possible to automatically start Remix Mini OS when Power is turned on?
I need also to auto start Kodi with a predefined video file at every boot, is it possible?
Remix mini support 1366x768 res. or other than 1920 x 1080 ?
I want to use Remix Mini on a machine for advertising purpose and eventually for web.
Any help could be very appreciated.
Hi Mauro,
The remix should start automatically when plugged in.
You could conceivably use an app such as Tasker to launch kodi on boot. However - I'm not sure about loading a particular file in Kodi on launch.
The resolutions on the mini are limited. 1366x768 is not an option at this time.
Ok thank for your help, and what are the supported resolutions?
Mauro

Hi Mauro,
1280x720 @ 50Hz
1280x720 @ 60 Hz
1920x1080 @ 50Hz
1920x1080 @ 60Hz
Inorder to play a video automatically when kodi start, simply add a file names autoexec.py with specific content in ủedata folder of kodi .
