hi everyone, recently i discovered huge battery drain on my note. when i fully charge it the battery drops from 100 to 80 percent in about 9 hours of standby. in order to find the culprit i installed better battery stats and let it run over night. i found out that something called networklocationlocator keeps my device from going into deep sleep (see attached screenshot).
does anyone know which app is behind this service? i think that its google now but i am not quite sure and dont want to uninstall it since its a really good app.
thanks in advance

probably when you go to settings and then location services, switch all off, switch back on only when you need it.
It would be interesting what is triggering your phone to seek location, could be a buggy app running silently updating every so often. I think the logs could tell you that. But not sure. I set location of in many apps in app settings cause I feel they dont need it.
I know that switching apps is buggy, It could be google maps running silently in background. Got to settings, apps running and stop those. Might need to stop as well in cached running.
I guess with root, and something like pdroid or lbe you can block apps requesting location services, also an option

This is a 'bug' with google maps that has persisted for at least over a year now and it affects a lot of devices. Users have been complaining for the longest time and it seems like it's falling on deaf ears at google. It's a shame! There is NO acceptable 'fix' - turning off google locations services will get rid of this problem but again, as i said, that's not acceptable!

I dont think its a bug affecting all roms. Nor that it has been there for over a year.
Hi all.
I hope someone here can help me with some answers or at least help me testing.
My problem is, that when I use my phone when running, the training session isn't registered correctly. It always log my routes between 25 and 30 % shorter then they are.
I've tried using different programs like Runkeeper, Endomondo, Cardiotrainer, My Tracks, and others.
They all show the same short route log.
I've tested all the programs with my old HTC Desire, and here the error is always less then 5%
Anyone else seeing the same problem??
Maybe someone could test it on their phone the next time they're going for a run??
My guess is, that there might be some bug in the software of the phone, that makes it report to short distances between every point that it sends to te training software. (maybe something to do with the accuracy of the GPS, and how this is offset is calculated into the positiondata??)
Anybody got a good Idea where to start??

Same here, tried a couple of the running apps. Sometimes it helps to restart the phone before running. Google navigation and offline nav apps (Sygic, TomTom, Navigon) seem to show more accurate GPS data. Speed related?

man up and get over it
this is how its gonna be
So, I'm having issues with my compass.
It is consistently 45 to 90 degrees off (I notice it whenever I'm using Google Maps and centered on my location as opposed to navigation).
This is my first RMA'd device (but I did not RMA my first one specifically for the compass).
I've tried this "figure 8" gesture, and I've also tried the compass calibration within GPS Status. I'm sort of fed up with this. I have no idea how to fix it, and it's extremely annoying when I'm out in the city and I just want to know what direction I'm looking and what is in front of me/near me.
Any ideas?

No, it's not the wrong section. This isn't a support question, it's a discussion of the compass issues I'm experiencing. As the forum title states, this section is for discussion, and tips/tricks. The "any ideas?" I added to the end does not make it a discussion, it invites people to contribute. Not that I don't appreciate your help, please don't take it that way.
A factory reset has not helped. It is consistent over many ROMs, including bone-stock. Eventually, it evens out, temporarily, and then it skews itself again, always counter-clockwise.

Oops, I did not read " any ideas ?" so my apologies. My friend had the same issue and he did an RMA. They told him it was an issue with the GPS. It was strange becuase his would go up to 98 C in less than 5 minutes. Got his device back about a month a go and never had that issue again.

I hope I don't have to RMA to fix it. Navigation works fine because I think it uses speed and vectors to determine where I am moving, but the Maps part is just a tad annoying.
I definitely don't have heat issues though, so I'm happy about that. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!
Even I have the same issue with my N5... but since I don't use maps a lot, I don't think I'll RMA it just for this reason even though it is annoying...

That seems to be the conclusion I'm arriving at.
I know the N4 had a compass fix, I'm not sure if the N5 will get one.
I have the same problem. Neither calibration nor factory reset helps. Several compass apps report "abnormal magnetic field strength". A few weeks ago I rebootet the phone and suddenly it worked correct. But after the next reboot it stopped working again. No matter how often I reboot the phone now, the compass just stays broken.
Mine was off too, but after calibrating with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2 it works as it should.
Hi, I've been trying to track down the issue with BetterBatteryStats+ and Wakelock Dectector FULL and found that the issue is with the bluetooth_pm wakelock. I've been googling about and people only mention it but nothing gets resolved. There's only one mention of it on XDA but no reply:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63955981&postcount=29777
What makes it's annoying is that when it goes away randomly and I get to enjoy the damn Doze feature but only to have it come back randomly. And this is when bluetooth is on. I haven't not factory reset the phone and restarting the phone may or may not have temporarily fixed.
What's is the damn "bluetooth_pm" wakelock? There's not a lot of info on this wakelock and I can't use Amplify or DisableServices to reduce or get rid of outright. I hope someone has a solution this issue.
EDIT: It's a Kernel wakelock.
Sorry for bumping this again. I have still not found the reason of why it happens aside from disconnecting from my devices (I have my phone connected to my lg tone headphones, motorola headset, my car, and my android wear watch).
Is there a way to get into the kernel and just kill it manually or set a timeout setting to kill it. The only way for me to fix it is to restart my phone; I shouldn't have to restart to get rid of this annoying wakelock.
I really hope to hear a response soon. Thanks in advance.
Bumping one more time, now with logs if ANYONE is just willing to look into this and find out what's wrong: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66119017&postcount=30423
In this post attachment, it happened again just 15 minutes ago. Please, someone has to be technical to read the logs better than what I can come up to determine what's wrong with it or provide an app to find and kill this wakelock without having to restart the bloody phone.
I know this is super old but I found out that GasBuddy of all things was causing the damn bluetooth wakelock. Not a damn clue aside some saying it uses bluetooth for location but REALLY?
Luckily, using Greenify fixed the problem
I had the exact same symptoms and phone, did the same steps and found the same thing is as you. GasBuddy for some reason causing bluetooth wakelock. Greenify, as you experience, 'cured' the problem. Interestingly, after dealing with this issue for months, after only a few hours of verifying a fix, GasBuddy updated (with new logo) and while somewhat improved the wakelock issue, it's still an issue. Unfortunately, Greenify seems to have a more difficult time hibernating the new version...
This is kind of a big bump, but I'm having the bluetooth_pm wake lock on my G6 and Google doesn't show me much except for this thread. I don't have GasBuddy on my phone. Has anyone experienced the bluetooth_pm wakelock and figured out a way to get rid of it?

I am having same issue on my Verizon g6. I lose about 10% battery per hour when screen is off. Phone wake locks through the roof.
This phone was meant to be the best mobile I've ever purchased, but silly things are putting me off. I am only 4 months into ownership, and now looking to part company with my Mi 9 as soon as possible.
1. The data just stops working when the phone loses and regains signal - as covered in a variety of other XDA threads and elsewhere. Makes the phone totally useless to someone like me who does a lot of travelling on underground trains and on motorways - I am missing alerts, messages, emails because of this.
2. The flashlight/torch keeps turning itself on randomly without any user intervention.
3. Since the last update, Google Photos has all the images showing with a crazy contrast level that makes them hard to look at. Again, covered in lots of threads elsewhere including temporary "fixes", but frustrating.
Anything I'm missing?
I'm not in a position to root etc to try other ROMs as I rely heavily on Google Pay which is broken on rooted/unlocked phones. Current ROM 10.2.28.0 (PFAEUXM). Reporting to Xiaomi I might as well just shout my grievances into a well... :crying:
Not judging just having question to
1. Does it not reconnect to the Internet after it lost signal? When I use the underground and loose signal but get out of it it works for me still. Or is your problem different?
2. Did you link the flashlight with the Assistant button?
3. I just checked Google photos but don't see any difference in picture view. How do I see the high contrast you have?
Sincerely a new Xiaomi user
Same version of miui, locked, unrooted.
1. Never had I experienced something like that
2. Never had I experienced something like that
3. Most likely a Google photos issue. After the latest Google app update (not Google photos app) it seems to be fixed.

I agree on 1 and 2
The 3rd bug I experienced also on havoc gsi so I don't really think it is miui specific.
I would add to the list weirdly working auto brightness, on other phones it works way better than on mi9
Also notifications icons limit on statusbar is set incorrectly, fix for that is in beta since month or maybe two but xiaomi prefers to change notch shape rather than fixing bugs in stable rom...
And the last one is more like a visual "glitch" than a bug. statusbar is a little taller than a notch
I don't have any of these bugs (running Revolution OS - modified MIUI stock rom).
Point 3. (as someone already said) disappeared after an update, although the official google support told me it has something to do with the vendor in particular (even though some OnePlus 7 pro devices are affected as well).
Never heard anything like point 1. tbh. I would recommend leaving stock rom behind and either go for xiaomi.eu/revolution OS or some other sort of Rom. Trust me there is way less bloatware and a much better overall experience compared to stock rom.

1. That's correct - it shows full bars and the 4G symbol and you can make and receive calls and texts, but you cannot pass any data until you toggle data off/on or reboot. This is number one bug - what use a communication device that stops communication and you don't know about it. I am confused how it does not affect everyone on this ROM however there are more than enough people saying it is happening to them.
2. Yes, long press of assistant button to toggle flashlight. But it still turns on randomly even when the phone is just sat on the desk!
3. This is fixed apparently by disabling automatic contrast and then reinstalling Google photos - so maybe you won't see this? The symptoms are - open Google Photos, tap on any photo, after a second it changes the contrast of the image so you can barely see it.
1. Even worse: if my Mi 9 loses signal it will never reconnect unless I restart the phone. Happened on Global ROM and Xiaomi.EU ROM.
1. The data/Signal problems are 100% Provider/Region related. If not, everybody would have that same Problem.
2. If you blame the device / Stock Rom why do you come with those problems to xda? Nobody here is working for xiaomi, go to them.
3. If you like xda you should be able to use the search, all of your problems are solved a long time ago and solutions are all over xda. Just search for it.
The way you did it looks like a little child laying under the table crying and kicking around no matter who is around.
1. Can confirm mine definitely doesn't do that, would be horrible if it did, I wholeheartedly agree(miui 10.2.28 PFAEUXM). Then again I only had it for 2 weeks, wouldn't be surprised if something like this would start happening in the future, such is the life of "flagship killers", but I knew the risks when I jumped aboard even though I had the budget for an s10+ or 7 pro.
2.Never had it happen but that sounds like the kind of bug that would definitely be fixed with a minor software update. If the problem has been reoccurring after subsequent updates then a hard reset would be worth a try.
3. Not an app I use.
If you have a warranty then it should be applicable for that signal issue, it should also be easy to reproduce in a competent repair service.
Here is mine...
1. I also experience this sometimes, connection seems lost even though 4g signal is full bar, have to turn on airplane mode to refresh then it will have connection again.
2. Never happened to me..
3. This was fixed now, just update google app and gphotos. It was weird when it was like that, but now it is ok.
1. What's your preferred network type set for? I had all sorts of connection issues on AT&T USA until I switched to GSM/WCMA/LTE. I had it set for LTE Only for the longest time but on a road trip realized that wasn't always possible.
1. Never had that
2. Never had that
You might want to check with your ISP.
Yeah, there are some annoying bugs that im experiencing as well. That shouldnt happen in the flagship line. But on the other hand, there is no better phone i could buy for the money,so i will just wait and hope those bugs will be fixed soon. Otherwise its just great phone and i wouldnt give up this phone just for the camera itself.
Research dont complain

Well, you were the one that came here complaining. As he explained you, the signal problems are operator related, otherwise we all would have them, and I can tell you I used 3 different carriers in my country and they all work flawlessly.
Also, those problems you talk about have long been solved, I'd suggest you spend your time searching the forum instead complaining for no reasons.

Get used to this
Almost all xiaomi mi series communities are just horrible and often unacceptable
1. Never had that
2. Same
3. App specific issue - already fixed.
I do have other bugs that annoys me more, like:
1) screens turns on out of the blue, no notification is shown - but if I unlock the phone, I can see that there is a lower priority (not showed on lock screen) notification..
2) when alarm rings, opening the clock app (by clicking on the current time on the widget) does not show the alarm and a stop button, instead I need to pull in notifications and click on the stop action there.
3) android auto: different issues.. sometimes the call app does not appear on the notification area, so I had an issue where android auto disconnected, and I could not disconnect the call. Spotify also does not launch from the car dash, I have to manually open it on my phone. could be app specific, but knowing issues with android auto on other Xiaomi phones, I'm not sure.

I can't find anyone explaining how to fix 1 and 2.
Also, 1 not carrier specific - happens to me on both EE and Vodafone in the UK and other people reporting other various networks Europe wide.
