Hello, I have a LG G2 (LG VS980) that I have had since around January where I think Lollipop came out. Now that everything is being updated to Lollipop 5.0.2, I am very interested in it and really want to be able to update to it, but when I go to my Settings > System Updates (I have it in list view and it's under System), it shows that I am up to date with my software version even though it's on 4.4.2. I don't know if this has to do with my being on Pageplus and not being able to download/install the Verizon updates, but I've been interested in it. If anyone knows the answer to this or how to get around to updating it while on Pageplus, please let me know, thank you.
If all else fails, then I think I am going to have to resort to rooting my phone but then I would lose all of my data, wouldn't I?
I have uploaded attachments showing the System Updates and my Software information.

Hey guys, so I have an unrooted & locked stock froyo N1 on FRF91. After I bought my phone, I manually updated to FRF85B, and then manually to FRF91 (too impatient to wait for froyo!). I tried searching the forums, but came up empty handed, so here are my questions!
I was just wondering if this would affect me receiving OTAs in the future and updating applications. For example, when the new Facebook and Twitter version came out I didn't get a notification and I couldn't update it through Marketplace, so I had to download them and install them through Marketplace to get the newest version. However, I can automatically update applications such as Google Maps and Google Voice. Does me manually upgrading have to do anything with this?
Also, I saw a new version named "FRF91-UP" floating around the forums, was this an OTA upgrade? I know it contains the new Gmail application as well as the new Facebook and Twitter app as well, and if it was a OTA upgrade, I never got it . Is there something I have to do to start getting these OTAs if it is an OTA? Or is this a leaked update?
Sorry for so many questions, I'm still learning how to use android to its full capacity ! And thanks in advance to whoever can help me out!!
From what i read, YES, your full stock, long as you got Stock recovery you will receive OTA's from whoever sends them, some Updates require to do a manual update.. i did the manual update too and all my apps get auto update, and i get notifications too, jus like everything else you can try do a recovery(stock) wipe/factory reset.. this might help in some way..
a buddy did this 2 days ago and he got some features that where there b4, he waited for the OTA's,then again i dont think he was really looking.. Lol
and i never heard of any FRF91-UP or seen anything around.. if anything i would have heard from my friend that has waited and all
Edit-
I just googled FRF91-UP this is for rooted phones.. if anything the pulled the update gmail and whatever else and ported it to whatever phone
Just got the Verizon Moto X and now I am attempting to update it to the latest version (Android 4.4.2). I am currently on Android 4.2.2, which came with the phone out of the box. Whenever I go to About Phone > System Updates, it says "Checking for an available update" for a second and then the error message "An unexpected error has occured. Please try again later." pops up. I tried talking to Verizon (they redirected me to Motorola) and Motorola, where I was sent through the standard troubleshooting steps by someone who clearly didn't know anything about the phone. I tried restarting the phone, wiping the phone's cache, and looking for updates through the Motorola Device Manager on my computer (which said that my phone was up to date, even though it clearly isn't). Is there anything else I can do before I try a factory reset? I would prefer to download the OTA, but I have experience with rooting and installing custom ROMs, so if I have to install the update manually, I will (if it gets to that step, I will probably end up installing the 4.4.4 update which got sent out to soak testers).

Do NOT upgrade until you've read another 24 hours on this board!!!!! I think you should take a second look at your status and see if you misread 4.4.2 as 4.2.2
If I may ask, why not update?

If you dont mind having an unrootable phone than update.
4.2.2 and 4.4 is fully rootable and able to disable write protection, 4.4.2 and newer is not. once you upgrade past 4.4 you lose ability to gain write and root.

Oh OK, that makes sense. Thanks for the info. I have another phone that I use for rooting, ROMs, etc. The Moto X is currently my daily phone, and I need it to be stable, so I am not worried about rooting or anything like that. Just want the latest stock Android version on there.
I just talked to Motorola on the phone again, and they went through the same standard checklist (restart, wipe cache, factory reset -- none of which worked). At this point, they are going to exchange my current phone for a new one, which works out for me. The Moto X I bought was used, so I am getting a new phone for a used price in a convoluted way.

Wow, what a waste. You could have just flashed the entire STOCK SBF as per the Return to Stock thread, and avoided costing Moto money, and hence raising the prices for everybody... :/
This would have repaired any filesystem corruption/damage, which is the only conceivable thing that might have caused your issue.
Your new one will probably have 4.4.2....which means no write protection disabling.
D'oh!

You could have had FULL root on 4.2.2.
Any AT&T users take this update? I don't think I am because I enjoy root too much. I assume this will kill the towelroot exploit.

I'm with you. Not going to apply it. Can't seem to get rid of the "software update is available" notification.... Any tricks for this?

Seems it attempted to install itself last night when plugged in. It failed, said I was rooted *gasp* and now the notification is gone Hurrah!

The only thing that I know of is that it will not update if the battery is low. LOL. Other than that, I do not know how to stop it as I understand updates are forced after denying them 3 times. I could be wrong.

Got the notification this morning and denied it. Froze the OTA in Titanium Backup so it didn't try and apply the update later.
I tried to update, but I got an error saying my phone was suspected of being Rooted.
has anyone un-rooted and then installed the update and then rooted it again?
*********ALSO********** Could someone upload the new APN Settings ? either in this thread or a new one?
I'm rooted but stock and took the update fine and keep the root... Luck maybe?
Same here @yuckycool. It auto updated, but root persisted.
Auto update and kept root as well. Towelroot method everything else stock.

Just got my T-mobile G Flex (d959) yesterday and did the update from 4.2.x to 4.4.x. Used Stump Root and gained root. Now it's saying there's another update from T-Mobile it wants me to do. I know these OTA's can be very hard to undo so if anyone can offer some advice as to whether or not I should update and whether or not I can still keep my root privileges I would appreciate it.
TIA
Do not do another update
It can brick your device..
Flash a Stock KDZ of your version 1st, before updating..
Also check the root availability of The new version through search...

Here's the deal...i would not recommend taking any ota update past version D95920h...this version is ok. There have been 2 additional ota updates since then and in each version T-Mobile/ LG has managed to f#*k us in one way or another. In version D95920m, T-Mobile disabled download mode, which prevents us from flashing a kdz in the event we need to...and in the latest version after that, we have problems obtaining root.

Hello guys. Just bought 2 days a go a new Nexus 6. Blue with 32Gb, unlocked.
Tottaly sealed, broke the seal myself, straight from Google.
But the phone says it is updated, and finds no new update. Im on LMY47D with Android 5.1 and I dont even receive 5.1.1
Tried factory reset without SIM Card, cleaning Framework and reboot without card, everything. To no avail.
Any idea what is going on? Shouldnt I get at least Android 5.1.1?
PS: I know I can sideload it, but still, something is clearly wrong, and I would like very much to sort it out.
Thank you very much.
Same issue here. Only I'm on 5.0 and can't find any update and I would prefer to not sideload already.
if you want your phone to check for an update, you have to be on WiFi. if in youre on network instead, itll always say up to date.
I'm on wifi. It still shows no update.
Same situation, on Wifi offcourse.

Try a factory reset, then remove your carrier SIM and power up on WiFi. My bet is that your N6 will start churning through OTAs in sequence. Not sure that you will get all the way to Marshmallow 6.0, because that last OTA is still being rolled out.
Already did it... waste of time, no updates
If your not willing to simply download and flash the images from googles website, that is your choice... but there is nothing to do but wait.
Hi Guys I am in the same boat, brand new n6 on 5.0.1 and saying up todate . In uk and carrier is Virgin if that helps.
Mal
Something strange is definately happening with Google update servers...
same dilemma and same version as op..
Personally I was like you all. I got my nice shiny new n6 from verizon (free upgrade...) Got it home kept pressing check for updates. Tried all the clearing app data from frameworks and all that.
But in the end I sideloaded it. I documented it over on the OTA url post. It is not that hard, just need some time. If you don't want to wait it might be your only option.
Total time invested was probably 1.5 hours. Downloaded all the files to my laptop and started using WUGFresh.
Stop waiting and update manually? It's not difficult, you can even save your userdata by not flashing it. There are different (and possibly easier) ways to install an update other than sideloading. especially when you can skip all the OTAs and flash directly to 6.0.
No need for a tool kit and it won't take much longer than the time it takes for you to download the factory image and extract the files.
The point is that there might be something wrong with Google's OTA servers.
Or maybe something is wrong about these phones ?
Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
Thats my point exactly. What if theres something wrong with the phone?
Google should clarify why old updates are not being delivered... not even questioning 6.0, but 5.1.1
same issue on new nexus 6 of my girlfriend. I manually sideloaded up to 5.1.1 (it's the international version) and now she's waiting for 6.0

Why is Google not delivering OTA updates to these N6 owners ?
Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
Because there were a couple of security updates between 5.1.1 and 6.0 (as far AS I remember on my N6) and because I want to be sure OTA works!
This issue is becoming more and more coomon. Lot's of people complaining on several forums about this issue.
At least its easy to see something is clearly wrong with the OTA's, since no one is getting any. There is people stuck on 5.0, 5.0.1, 5.1, etc whichever came preinstalled stays without updates.
