WHY oh WHY - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I have a Note 3 that I am trying to upgrade (from 4.2 maybe). Kies and Kies 3 do not recognize my phone. When I tried to Odin it, I got an error and the message, "firmware upgrade encountered an issue". I've tried reflashing, but nothing helps. I feel like an idiot that I cannot figure this out. I have read and read. I have downloaded:
N900A_OC1_Stock(100%).zip
AP_N900AUCUEOC1_CL4335446_QB4210025_REV03_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CSC_ATT_N900AATTDNL1_CL3032228_QB3188679_REV03_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CP_N900AUCUDNL1_CL3032228_QB3188679_REV03_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
BL_N900AUCUDNL1_CL3032228_QB3188679_REV03_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
AP_N900AUCUDNL1_CL3032228_QB3188679_REV03_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
N900AUCUEOC1_N900AATTEOC1_N900AUCUEOC1_HOME.tar.md5
So, I've tried different ways and I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I have tried with Odin 3.09 and 3.10.6. I cannot use the zip file since I can't seem to get my phone into recovery with the error message above.
Can someone provide me with some guidance (in very simple steps)? Much appreciated.

I just tried to download the files and I'm getting an MD5 error on the AP file.
Any thoughts? And thanks for your help.

I tried a download from 4 other sites before finally getting rid of the MD% error. Hopefully this will flash now. Thanks again for your help.

Stupid question, it is AT&T phone. You can try to delete the .md5 at the end of the file name. Should look like this after AP_N900AUCUCNC2_722276_REV03_user_low_ship_MULTI_C ERT.tar

You try downloading the "All-in-one/Non-Wipe Tars" instead and Odin it in the AP slot? http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/100-stock-lollipop-5-0-n900aucueoc1-t3069609 You don't Odin any other files, if you use the ALL-in-One file. [Q] Stuck On This For Awhile Now... :(

I have a ATT S4 Active SGH-I537. It can only access download mode and from there i've tried everything. What happened was the phone had a OTA to the newest update pushed from ATT and after it updated the touchscreen did not work and i noticed the scren was "burning in the text" if that's what it's called. So i tried to wipe cache, and factory reset. Same thing Happened. Well now the firmware update did not go through so i have the error and can only access download mode. I've tried everything in odin and just get FAILS. Blahhh.
Any help would be great, I'm not new to this kind of stuff. I'm just stuck and need some help.
Thanks

As long as you can get into Download mode you should be ok. I don't know what firmware you were originally on and what you were updating to, but to be safe you should flash the NE3 Odin package. Download it from the i537 Firmware Thread and flash it through Odin. Check the md5 of the file you downloaded with the md5 posted in the thread to make sure you don't have a corrupted download. If you need step-by-step instructions for Odin you can find a link to it in the same thread.
Make sure you are using the usb cable that came with your phone since that is the only one that is guaranteed to work. You can use others, but Odin is very picky about usb cables. Also, try different usb ports on your computer, again Odin is picky. Finally try Odin v3.07 and Odin v3.09. Most people have used those versions to flash things.
If you need more help I'm going to need a little more information:
What firmware were you on before the OTA?
What firmware are you trying to update to?
You mentioned Odin doesn't work, can you post the Odin logs so I can see where it fails?

I will try the NE3 Package a few times, maybe stop by the store and get a different cable. If that doesn't work i will let you know. Thanks for replying and for the info. This is a frustrating mess.

[Q] USED BUSY BOX "reboot to recovery" script

I am running Alliance 9.1 rom and I was searching for my Safestrap recovery. I didn't find it and so I tried busybox "reboot into recovery" script. Doing that made my phone go crazy "go to att and let the service tech" look at it. I can't boot into recovery as it gives me this error and I have to use ODIN to flash the BL file. Now I can't get into my phone because of a Pin. I think that the script from busy box is still running and if I can get passed my pin, I want to see if I can disable the script. My main issue is, can I use the aforementioned process to just start over? I was told I cannot use ODIN to flash to stock rom. I have already found out that I have tripped my knox counter. PLEASE HELP. THIS IS MY ONLY PHONE AND MY WIFE IS GOING TO KILL ME.
Thank you for your help.:crying:

If you can get to download mode, then you should be able to flash ALL four files in Odin which will wipe your phone clean [100% Stock] Lollipop 5.0 (N900AUCUEOC1) Odin Tars http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/100-stock-lollipop-5-0-n900aucueoc1-t3069609 OR N900AUCUCNC2 ODIN Files http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54803130&postcount=136 Use all four this way your will wipe your phone. The phone booted and I've gone through the process. I was in download and while it did say "fail" on the com1 slot, the com 2 slot "passed" and I'm going through the setup process now. I am just happy I don't have an 800.00 brick.
Thank you so much for your help and I do appreciate your responses as I am new to this. I will most likely put alliance back on unless you have a Rom you use currently that you would recommend?

When you put the Alliance rom on it and to get to safestrap all you have to do is hold your power button have a sec and click restart then safestrap. BUT after you flash anything you have to flash the OC1 Kernel before leaving safestrap.
This just harder

put the extracted firmware files into c:\odin
delete hidden.img and cache.img
then the command in cygwin to change to that directory would be
cd /cydrive/c/odin
then enter the re-tar command as described in my guide and flash the n910f.tar file with odin! this will work 100%!

Ok finally got through the change directory, created the tar as described and flashed it with Odin. Stuck in bootloop. Tried installing twrp recovery, either failed with odin or when trying to boot into recovery it automatically went into download mode.
Flashed my regions stock rom through kies emergency recovery. Boots up fine, works fine. Next flashed the 5.1.1 Tar image. Same problem, endless booting sequence (gets up to home page and then reboots).
Anyone have some suggestions?

Why didn't you use the recovery to make a backup so you could easily restore it when something like this happens?
Download the correct firmware for your phone and then extract it so all of the files are able to be put in the slots on Odin (BL, PA etc etc) because you have to flash them like that now.

Thanks for the reply. Newbie dumbass move i guess. still learning.
Question...when i extract the files, will i have to load them individually to their correct slots or do i just select one file and it auto populates ?
On another note, i managed to sideload a zip just now but nothing came of that.

You have to put them all in the respective slots individually but at the same time so they flash 1 after the other..
Try getting the firmware from here.

Ok, so I'm back......after trying several things which i'll list step by step for someone else who may be frustrated
I got the zip you linked to but i couldn't get the individual files for loading. all i saw was N920Txxxx.md5 and it kept failing when i hit start. (was loading it in AP)
I then deleted the .md5 extension and it became a .tar in Winrar format.
I extracted the files and got the sboot.bin to load in CP, this got a PASS.
Still stuck on logo after reboot.
Next i loaded the .tar file in CSC and Voila ! Wrote, got PASS, phone rebooted and now works fine.
My hat off to you MrMike2182 :good:
Now i'm going to look up how to clear the Knox counter.

Nand Erase In ODIN ( *** SOLVED *** )

Guys,
I need an urgent help. Here is my Story..
Using 9208 Note 5 model. After trying different custom roms i tried to flash stock firmware using Odin. Did everything correctly. Unfortunately i checked Nand Erase all option too. The result is my Note 5 stuck at Samsung DimDim logo. For almost 1 hour. Tried reflash several times but no luck..
So i flashed twrp and wipe data and factory reset and reboot. Its works. But problem with voLTE. No voLTE working. I know flashing JIO voLTE fix will solve this but i need a solution for this Odin. I dont want to flash voLTE fix.
Can someone help me pls.. How to bypass that Samsung logo without flashing Twrp.. ?

Well that's because you erased everything including your partitions so now you need to find the .PIT file for your exact model and select it in odin while flashing the firmware again.

I need to know the firmware version that you were on before this problem started.. The PIT file is always inside of the firmware you download all you need to is unzip it from within the .zip..

You can only downgrade if you have firmware that's bootloader version 4 because you're currently on bootloader version 4 and you cannot go back down to bootloader version 3 or earlier because that's been blocked by Sammy.. If you need the PIT file it's inside of the firmware that you downloaded you just need to extract it from the file. If you have the firmware G935FXXS4ESC6 then unzip it and then unzip them again and you'll find the PIT file in there.. It's usually inside of the CSC .tar file.

Thanks for your kind support, as per your suggestion after unzip the csc file i found the pit file . Now should i select Nand Erase & Re-Partition options after inserting the pit file. Is it safe to select these options?
I have flash so many time with same firmware, flashing was ok but still i'm facing same problem.
Millions of Thanks

You can do that yes and if that doesn't fix your problem then there must be something wrong with the phone itself. For your information though you're asking for help in the Galaxy Note 5 thread but you're on a Galaxy S7 Edge.. I do think a moderator might end up moving this to the correct place.
