I recently purchased a Sprint Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 and whenever I try to draw anything other than a horizontal or vertical line it is very wavy. It makes using a handwritten note taking app that works fine on my Viewsonic G Tablet almost unusable on the Sansung GTab. Can any of you draw angled lines reasonable straight or do I possibly have a bad tablet? If I try to draw a line at a 45 deg angle it is extremely wavy regardless of how careful I am in trying to make it straight. It does this on various programs I've tried. Attached is an example from 'Note Everything'.
Can't somebody tell me if their Tab behaves the same or differently than mine? I guess I may have to make the trip to a store to see if a demo unit does the same thing as mine.
Hi,
You are not alone with this problem. This is the good news but unfortuately I bad news is there is no known solution. Make a search with screen shaking you will find more people complaining about this.
Cheers

Thanks for your response. That is unfortunate. One of the main reasons I purchased the Galaxy Tab was to take notes with a stylus using TabNotes and the screen doesn't work well with either finger or stylus. It works very well on my Viewsonic G Tablet but the 10.1" screen is a little to big and the portrait viewing angles are really bad. Thanks for the tip on searching for 'screen shaking', I tried a bunch of other terms and couldn't find anything so I'll give that a try.

Your sample looks a little better than mine. I think I will try to find a store in my area that has a demo unit so I can do a side by side comparison.
Have you had good success using your tab for note taking?

No. I tried like 7 different apps, but no one worked like I hoped. I even tried two different styli but still, I find swype to be easier and faster.
I'm running Overcome Gold 2.0 by the way, may be that's why it is a little bit different.
I just got my refurb sprint tab from woot. I have the same problem. Bummer.
So i caved and got the tab.
it seems good to me.
the Jp has 2.2 running 2.3 doesn`t seem to be out yet.
i played Sonic ep 2 THD for about 1 hour tab went down 12% so seems ok with battery life, screen was 50%.
i noticed once only when waking from sleep while docked i got garbled screen. a switch off/on fixed this.
seems fast and smooth and i don`t have that sensor issue i saw on another thread perhaps why jp has not got 2.3 no big issues in software so no need to rush a fix?
As others mentioned would be kewl for a speaker on dock.
while i knew it would happen a few games from my acer won`t install to this new tab. Example sonic 4 ep 1 and sim city deluxe.
i did get the latest apk rom and do that way then let them download the cache but they freeze.
can`t complain i guess.
You mean JP SKU is still on 4.2, and has yet to be updated to 4.3?? I can't imagine the TF701 running 2.2 in ANY region!!
SwiftKey'ed from my White Sprint Note 3 via XDA Premium
You mean of course JB 4.2.2.
Can you tell me what production date is on the box of your TF701?
yes 4.2.2
date says 2013.09

You bought it with the keyboard dock?
When yes you have a TF701 from the batch that has the connector problem.
havn`t had any issues with the connector it has some slight movement but it seems the turning bit is moving not the tab wiggling on the connector.
Like i mentioned one time it was connected to dock it was grey fuzz on the screen and i had to reboot.
thats about it.

Look on the Asus box in which your tablet came.
There is a date on it like: Date 2013.09
Means September 2013.
Love what I've read about this phone except for the crappy camera, small battery, and no external SD support. If it doesn't have a notification led I think I'm going with the GS5 as my current GS3 has treated me well for the last 2+ years. Anyone?
No. And maybe you should try something beside a Galaxy. You won't believe how fast and smooth stock Android is and when a phone isn't made of entirely cheap plastic.

With the Moto X you can do that and actually see from which app the notification is without touching it. And with just touching the screen one time, you can read the notification.

So from across the room or even a few feet away looking over (no hand wave over it or anything) at the moto x I can tell if I have notification(s)?
What I like about my GS3 is the color of the led tells me which app the notification is for and I can see it from across the room.
The active display will blink the icon of whatever app has a notification on the screen. It's not color coded like a normal led and you may have trouble seeing the icon from across the room. However, you can just say "OK Google: What's Up?" and the phone will say the time and read any active notification/text messages. (Incredibly useful while driving.)
It will probably have a hidden led like the original X, just hope the brightness can be tweaked this time.

But this led can only be used for charging status? Or did someone figure out how to use it for notifications? If yes then I'll go for it.

It's only for a charging led. I think some cm roms have it worked out for a notification light, ONLY when it's plugged in. You lose the moto features with cm based roms tho.
I just went to Verizon and held the one m8 and old moto x. I'm not a fan of the feel of the m8 and the notification led is so small that it's pretty much useless. But I like that I can flash a pure android ROM (gpe) and it has other good specs.
I love how the old x feels, it's perfect. It sucks that Motorola is making it bigger as the smaller size would have been a big selling point for me.
Tough to decide between the two, or even the gs5.
2014 moto x does have a notification light
And it works for more than just charging
you can just yell, ok google now, news? and the moto x will tell you each notification you have without touch it.
It doesn't tell you everything but it tells you missed notifications

Source?
Maybe go look in the 2014 moto x thread and see what those who have one say. Besides you can see it in YouTube reviews
Have seen at least seven or eight YouTube hands on videos, none mentioned anything about a notification light. Will check the new X topic.
Notification LEDs are irritating to me and useless because they don't tell you if the notification is worth your time or not, so you just turn on the phone for nothing a lot. Active Display/Moto Display is pretty damn intuitive.

Well after using the X for two and a half months now I will have to disagree with you
I also at first really liked the Active display, still do, but I would take back the old LED notifications. I just hate to wait some 6 seconds for the notifications to appear on the screen. Also you will have to to look at the display from straight on, with LED notifications you can see it from most angle (not the hTC M series like stupid ultra tiny dot one!), and you can set the colour, so that's damn easy, for me.
Can someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong. I have tried shrinking the phone font size and now I'm at one tick above smallest on that. I resized the keyboard to the smallest and it still looks gigantic.
Does SwiftKey need an update? I feel like this was the case with the s8 too until I did or SwiftKey did something.
Anyone get it smaller?

still waiting to get my tmo note 8 (friday) but i use swiftkey exclusively.

Also, is tours Verizon or another carrier?

Sucks. Need them to patch this thing. I'm not going to use a lower resolution.
I just installed the latest beta, released overnight. It does NOT solve the keyboard size issue, or even (apparently) attempt to. I can see no difference in size between the beta and GA SwiftKey keyboards at any resolution. Since it's not in this beta, don't expect a fix to be GA any time within the next few weeks.
I opened a bug ticket on SwiftKey site, everyone should open some more, maybe they will start doing smth about this. Now using it on lowest size... Does the trick but looks not so nice ?
I use SwiftKey and mine is fine. But then again I don't like a tiny ass keyboard.

Yeah I don't get it. I love SwiftKey on this phone.
Got a fix for this issue if you have root. Just change your phone's model number to SM-G955F (S8 Plus). They already fixed it for the S8 Plus so the keyboard size is normal on all resolutions.
They are ignoring all SwiftKey forum posts and tickets concerning this issue. And what's so frustrating is that it happened also with Note 5 after Nougat was released. And, as stated, with S8 also.
For those who likes the huge keyboard size, this is the same as using the 4th or 5th size level if there wasn't a bug. But now the 1st size is absolutely huge. And I simply can't believe anyone uses Note 8 with 4th of 5th size in this bugged version, since it would take all over the screen practically.
Now knowing that rooted phones can trick this changing the phone model to S8 is even more frustrating. It proves they are giving a s*** for us Note 8 users for almost two months when the fix is absolutely simple and not new for them.
I regret so much all the money I paid for it in the past, including themes, for two Google accounts.
I'm using BETA and the keyboard changes in size for me...from Largest (more than half the screen) to smallest (just a bit over 1/3 of the screen)
I use the biggest size & keep it in the "compact" figuration. Works great for me. I love it
There have been 2 pretty severe problems with the early European devices. Starting tomorrow the US version should hit the shelves and homes. If you can would you please address each of the 2 issues as you can.
1. Google Pay not working at the terminal (you can register the cards but they don't work in the stores)
2. The infamous gap of the body / screen (even gap, no gap, awful uneven gap)
I don't really like polls but if someone wanted to make a poll that would be fine as well. This US device is a different build due to the high speed 5G antenna so perhaps we will avoid these problems. Furthermore, if you have any other problems such as screen flickering, fingerprint sensor not working etc. post that here as well. Thanks and good luck to us. Mine (sage) comes on Friday.

People doing US reviews seem to suggest that even when they have the gap issue, it's fairly small and uniform, but lots of people say they don't notice a gap at all in their reviews. This doesn't mean there won't be an issue though..

I know. I really want to see some demo models but none of the stores here have it yet.
Best buy had every one on display. 4a 5g, 4a, and the 5 in black. Not a hint of a gap..I tried to take a picture but I suck at it and it came out like crap. When I get home I'll see if I can fix it up a little..btw damn this is a nice phone.
Here ya go. Best I could do..
I just finished setting up the Pixel 5 (received it today; sage color). There is no gap on the phone.
Google Pay had two separate “setups”: at the beginning after transferring the information from my old Pixel. Then a later one after all my apps were downloaded and I thought it was finished with “setting up” the phone: the drop down notification said “Finish setting up your Pixel”. During this time, it wanted the Google Pay information, again, but it looked different from the first GPay screen. I have to check if it works.
I called a friend to see how it sounded and I’m not crazy about how the under glass speaker sounded. It’s hard to explain, but it is slightly less clear compared to the 3 XL. It wasn’t awful. Maybe I would not have noticed if it wasn’t mentioned in some of the reviews. On the other hand, my friend reported that I sounded crystal clear. That’s all for my initial impressions.
Fingerprint Sensor
My fingerprint sensor did not work. Went ahead and returned it. Reset it 4 times.

You can't see the left corner haha. No worries though. My black one looks very similar. I went into a BestBuy today and looked at the 2 demos they had. I could see ever so slight differences in the space between the frame and screen. I think mine was about between these 2 units I saw. I really want to see a sage green one to compare to.
We are really talking about splitting hairs here too though
Fingers crossed the issue doesn't pop up in a few days/weeks.
Just received my Sage, pre-ordered from Fi, thus Google Store. No extras received. Charger, cord, USB C to A adaptor, SIM tool in the box. Color is cool. No gap whatsoever. Cleaned phone with microfiber and straight into a case, Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear, then onto the charger. Powered up fine and activated quickly. BUT Wi-Fi connection issue occurred. Tried two different connections, double checked passwords, and still a problem. Finally connected after about 10 min. Then, used my old Pixel 2 XL cord to copy data; cord is still useful for data - I'm impressed. Flawless Google properties setup, data copy (maybe 3.5-5GB) took about 6-8 minutes. Fingerprint setup had a couple of error messages - sensor dirty - but other than that it worked fine. I did have my case on during fingerprint setup. After that, "Getting your phone ready" took a bit: 112 apps to download and set up. Definitely need to review all those apps. Took FOREVER.
No screen gap on my sage. I'll test google pay tomorrow at the store. Loving this phone so far. Will say that photos do take an extra second to process.

It appears that Google is downloading a fresh copy of every Google/Pixel app. It's taking a looooooooong time. I'm not sure, but they don't appear to say "update" on the Play Store. Maybe it ships without the apps, or they could all need updating. It really seems like it is every Pixel/Google app. I remember reading an article saying something like this being the case for foreign phones b/c of some settlement. But on a US phone, it appears nothing Google is preinstalled. Maybe that was the same for my 2XL but I honestly don't remember. Made sure it was on 5GHz WiFi just now.

Update: No issues with google pay, no gap, no "brownish" screen. Device is awesome, exactly what I want in a phone.
No gap at all, I'll use it for GP tomorrow. Wow this thing is light.
Got my Black Pixel 5 yesterday - went thru setup flawlessly, fingerprint works fine - setup quickly. No gap. Have not tried using Google Pay but will sometime next week.
I am coming from the Samsung Note 20 Ultra (keeping that phone and will ultimately use both depending on my mood) what strikes me most is - I can't remember how long it has been since I have used a phone as small as the Pixel 5. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean it is tiny - just a whole lot smaller than my previous samsung devices (and the Samsung Note 20 Ultra) but honestly, it feels great. Much eaiser to use one handed, feels good in the hand, unlocking with the fingerprint scanner on the back is really a better experience than Samsungs Underscreen fingerprint scanner.
Pixel 5 is an awesome phone. Glad I got it! (I would not say it is better than my Samsung Note 20 Ultra - Different and good in different ways than the Samsung is - if that makes sense)

I can't agree more regarding the size. Coming from an S20 Ultra, I can't imagine going back to a bigger screened phone again. This size and weight of the P5 are perfect.
