Google Now won't show anything other than the weather card.
I've tried disabling, re-enabling Google Now, making sure I have all card notifications set to "On" or "Yes" and I've tried rebooting. But for some reason my Google Now will only show me the weather card. If I hit "More" below that card it just says "Not Available".
Before, I was able to get many different types of cards in that feed. Now nothing will show. Anyone else run into this?
EDIT: Fixed! If you run into this issue, do the following...
- Open the Google app
- Click the three horizontal lines that are just to the right of the "Google" logo in the Google search bar
- Click "Settings"
- Click "Now cards"
- Click "Delete card preferences?"
- Click "Delete" (this will delete all Now Card preferences and turn Google Now off)
- Click the box to turn Google Now back on
- Go through the initial Google Now setup
- Bam! All Google Now cards are back to showing.
I'm assuming my issue stemmed from the fact that when Google Now launched, I said "No" to most of the cards it was trying to show me, in an effort to keep it minimal and not full of content I didn't care about. Since then, Google Now has been refined quite a bit and is much better. I never went back to reset all my preferences so I was still getting essentially no cards. Resetting everything solved that.

Hello all you nexus 6 experts!
I am experiencing a weird bug for selecting the mock location app under developer settings. Currently I have three different apps installed - FakeGPS, Lockito and Go Walking Fake GPS Location.
Now, after I set one of the apps as the mock location provider, I can no longer select any other one. I can only choose "None" from the list or the initial selection. e.g. currently I can only set FakeGPS or "none" for the setting. After I uninstall the "stuck" app I can again choose a different one - but then the setting gets stuck on this one.
I am on a Nexus 6 with the July build of Marshmallow (6.0.1 MOB30O). It's running the stock ROM with franco.Kernel and root.
Anybody experienced something like this and has a solution?
Is there a way to edit this setting somewhere directly in a config file?
Same issue. Wondering if its a FakeGPS thing. PokeMon right!
I'm having exactly the same problem on Xperia Z2 (6.0.1). Any solution so far?

Okay Poke's... Figured out the issue. No doubt we all downloaded FakeGPS and moved it to /system right?
After moving FakeGPS back to /data (normal app) I can select other mock location apps (Pokemon GO Joystick).
You can do this with "/system/app mover" available in the Google Play store. Just enable "Show system apps" and scroll down to the app you want to move back to /data (FakeGPS). Then reboot and you should be good
Actually, I haven't moved my app to the system partition since Google's partitioning for stock images leaves little space to do anything with \system. Anyways - a Redditor pointed out one thing to me: even if the setting is not updating on the UI-side, it is actually updating properly on the backend. Basically, just select any other mock location app and it will work fine even though something else is being displayed. I was sceptical at first since some of my apps were crashing before and I interpreted that as a sign of a jumbled setting but now everything works fine.

That's true, i just realized it. To confirm this, when i open fakegps if i didn't select it as mock location app it tells me to do so and when i select it that message disappears even though the "select mock location app" section shows another app as selected. It seems to be just a UI problem.
edit.
guys my nexus 6 shows 2 location on the map. My current location and the mock location. How do i remove my current location and only allow the mock location to be active?
You might need to disable the Fused Location service.
And change the location settings to phone only. Also turn off Wi-Fi scanning if connected or around known hotspots/networks.
Or...enjoy the summer and actually walk around town like you're supposed to?
I'm actually having the same issue with the "stuck mock location app". I tried to remove those apps and I still cannot select the app I want to, in this case, Fly Gps.
All the sudden my Google play shortcut today stops working. I'm getting the sd card is not available, need to download the app again. I went to managed apps, removed it but the shortcut remains in the homepage. Reinstalled it & able to open it after it was installed but cannot open it from the shortcut. Now the only way I can use Google play is remove&reinstalled as I cannot launch the googl e play from the shortcut, any suggestion? I've tried to removed Yahoo mail & it does the same. Shortcut remained, at least I can laugh it if l have Google play open but for Google play, no such open to run it from any where.

This has been reported numerous times in other threads with an equal number of solutions offered. Some seem to work while others don't. Appears related to a recent FireOS 5.6 update. You'll need to do some hunting in the Play Store thread. Use of the XDA search function is highly encouraged; otherwise you'll be reading through hundreds of largely irrelevant posts.
Tip: uninstalling/reinstalling the Play Store components with reboots between each step seems to offer some relief. Clearing the "Home Pages" cache also holds some promise although not sure how durable that solution will be. Good luck.

Clearing the homepage cache did the trick, Thanks.
I posted my solution here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd...s-wont-due-t3721053/post74971657#post74971657
(1). Settings --> Apps & Games --> Manage All Applications
(2). Swipe left in order to display "ALL" applications and then scroll down to select the application named "Home Pages"
(3). Tap "CLEAR CACHE" and then "FORCE STOP"

Hi everyone.
I'm at a bit of a loss here. I've had 2 issues with Google apps on this phone. One is regarding Calendar which was force closing as soon as I tried to edit an event. Others on here had the problem and advised a factory reset which I wanted to avoid.
Yesterday however, Google Drive seemed to stop seeing Sheets, Docs etc as when you try to create a new document, those options don't appear. This also means I can't use Drive to edit any document however if I open Docs or Sheets directly I can access the same files and edit them.
I use Drive a lot so I bit the bullet and did a factory reset this morning.
Everything was okay and both apps seemed fine again, however for no apparent reason (I rebooted just now), Drive is broken again.
Calendar is still fixed but I have no idea what's going on. It's like Drive can't see that Docs and Sheets are installed.
Has anyone experienced this or got any ideas?
Aaaaand Google Calendar is broken again. I changed the colour of each if my calendars and unselected my Hotmail calendar. Force closes now every time I try to open an event to edit.
Just checked my Google Drive and it's allowing opening of Sheets files, also never had the Calendar issue, I have multiple shared calendars in action with my account as well.
no problems with either - if you have an o365 account you could install excel and onedrive to see if any issues
The problem isn't that I can't open the files though as if I open the apps Docs or Sheets, they'll open and edit fine. When in the Drive app though, if you try to create a new item, I only get options for an upload, photo or new folder and no sheet. Likewise when clicking on a text document, it opens in the built in Drive viewer but not the Docs editor.
It's like Drive isn't seeing that the other apps are installed.
Very odd. Not sure if it's related to the calendar issues other had. I've tried all sorts of combinations of changing permissions and battery saving etc but to no avail.
So I figured it out and it was my own fault - I was in the Google Play Services beta.... Latest update broke maps showing in other apps (that's what helped me work it out as it gave an error about play services updating) as well as giving my calendar and drive issues.
Posting in case others come across this issue!
That's a definite bummer. I have not yet experienced that. I certainly hope I won't.
One of the first things I did when I got my P20 Pro last Saturday, April 28 was to STOP all auto-updates, including the auto-update of apps.
What I have in mind, if was in the same situation, would be to factory reset the unit. Then deactivate the auto-update feature. I'm not sure if it'll work with others, though.
Have you tried getting in touch with Huawei yet?

So the effect I am getting is when I open the sheet from google drive it shows a previewed sheet, but not actually a valid file you can edit (i.e. it's still using drive not sheets) - you can choose 'open with Sheets' and then it does open in sheets. You can also open the web browser version and it prompts you to 'Use App' with a button. I can't get it to open into Sheets without an additional tap - it definitely did before...
If you look at the recent reviews, it's not just P20 pro which has issues with maps

Device: Xiaomi Mi A2 Android One
ROM: Stock Google Android 9 Pie
I recently had to do a hard factory reset on my Android One Xiaomi Mi A2 phone. After reset a particular notification keeps insistently reappearing - it is from two different apks that are part of the stock ROM/OS - Android Setup (with a circular arrow timer icon) and Android setup (with a gear icon). Both the apks have the same name but different icons and listed separately. They can be found by clicking on Settings>Apps & notifications>See all apps>Show system. I am currently on Android 9 Pie.
The notification from Android Setup (with a circular arrow timer icon) gives two options - connect to WiFi or Use Mobile Data. On choosing either option it takes me to a white screen that has a gear symbol/icon on top and right below it it says PREPARING FOR SETUP... and below that it says YOU CAN FINISH SETTING UP YOUR Mi A2 SOON... At the bottom of this screen it has a rectangular Start button but that remains greyed out. I waited two days on this but it remained same. I did hard reset numerous times and re-setup phone but issue would not go away.
So then I did a reset from Recovery/Hard Reset again. Then I did the following in the order I mention - Set-up the phone as new / Chose Do not back up data or apps from previous save - Unchecked all apps that I had earlier that Google was trying to reinstall automatically after reset as per backed up info of my device on Google servers. Once phone was on homescreen I went to PlayStore and updated Google Play Services first thing. Then I installed all available updates. Then manually reinstalled all apps I earlier had on my phone one by one. After all this, notification from Android Setup (with a circular arrow timer icon) reappeared and same issue - whether I choose Use Mobile Data or connect to wifi it would just take me to PREPARING FOR SETUP screen and stays there with Start button greyed out and notification bar indicators showing no data being transmitted up or down.
So then I went into settings, force stopped it (Android Setup with a circular arrow timer icon) and deleted cache and data for this apk. Left it overnight. In the morning I see that there is the same notification but this time from the Android Setup (with a gear icon) and the only option is connect to wifi. Upon connecting to wifi it takes me to the same PREPARING FOR SETUP screen with start button greyed out and does nothing. So this time I went into settings and forced stopped this (Android Setup with a gear icon) system apk and deleted its cache. Delete data option is greyed out, although it shows some data is stored. This makes notification go away but once I reboot phone it reappears.
I have done research online and many others have faced this exact same issue, exact same PREPARING FOR SETUP screen. But many different handsets, many different roms. Most common solution offered online was to delete cache and data for Google play Services and PlayStore. That was of no help in my case. Mine is a completely stock Android One 9 Pie rom, strictly no mods whatsoever. I doubt this has anything to do with the phone manufacturer, because they would not mess with those system apks I have mentioned earlier. It seems connected to Play Services apk and backed up phone settings/information on Google servers. Might have something to do with RESTORE DATA AND SETTINGS WHEN APP IS REINSTALLED setting option in the Android OS. I attempted to delete backed-up device settings, passwords and app info backed up on Google's servers, and then did a reset again and set up as new, but problem is still there.
Any help/info/etc. you can provide about this would be much appreciated ...

No its not Beta Pie. Its a full public release, updated through OTA.
I have seen this problem mentioned in Nexus, Pixel and Oneplus6 Forums as well (among others) so not sure if it is specific to Pie ...
SOLVED
After all the steps mentioned in original post, heres what I did - Went into my Google account and removed phone from devices listed under my account. Reset phone. Set up - as new (chose do not restore backed up setttings/apps/data)(did this setup with wifi). Towards end of setup Google still tries to reinstall some apps that were installed before, so tapped on REVIEW APPS and unchecked all checked apps. Three apps were still listed with no option to unselect. Continued. Got to home screen. Problem notification appeared. This time tapped on USE MOBILE DATA option on the notification. It did not go to problematic PREPARING FOR SETUP screen but went to another screen that said installing 3 apps (the 3 apps that could not be unchecked as I mentioned earlier), and after a few minutes of seeming to be stuck, just completed on its own!
PROBLEM SOLVED. Mentioning everything done in detail in the hopes that it will help someone else. Cheers!!:good:

Realise this thread is a little old, but I had the same problem and did not want to reset the phone again. I am using LineageOS 16.0
Most of the solutions appear to be little more than try again.
I found the following work:
When the option comes up, go back ("<") key from the screen that shows a grey "Start" button. This should give the WiFi options. Click the WiFi which is connected, and then click Advanced. Change Metered from Automatic to Unmetered. Click finish / ok as necessary and it should then work.
I can only assume that Android is detecting the connection is metered therefore refusing to do the final setup. Hope that this helps someone!
Don't forget to set the connection back to automatic / metered if applicable!
What i did and helped is that i deleted the Google account, restarted the phone and the Update went through.
what worked for me - i had to install gapps first and then just factory reset in twrp - a20 205w - running lineageos16

Thanks A NEast, it works on my Nokia 6.1 Plus
Just change the Wi-Fi options from automatic to unmetered
Hi,
My S10e's battery went flat an hour ago, so I plugged it in and turned it on.
When I went to use it, I had a notification to "finish setting up your phone, copy data..." so I thought it must've installed a new update.
Here is the weird part. It hadn't, but Facebook, Game Launcher and a few other apps popped up in the app drawer. All these apps had been disabled since September. Also, the app drawer now contains a work section at the bottom which essentially replaces the secure folder app. I can't open any of the secure folder apps and the icon for SF in the notification panel has moved position and lacks a descriptor beneath it.
After first turning it on, I checked the settings and it had(and still has) the April version, but it started downloading the May version which I haven't installed yet.
All my secure folder apps are still there, but the correct password comes back as incorrect, so I am unable to access them. To add to the ****ery, the reset password option tells me there is no account under my e-mail address.
When I tap the ""finish setting up your phone, copy data..." notification, nothing happens.
What is happening?
My guess is that there's a bug somewhere or something has gone wrong either software or hardware wise. Updating to the latest firmware either via Odin or OTA might help. Doing a data factory reset may also fix it as well.
