Just wondering if the fingerprint support in Android M could get our scanners working on AOSP ROMS?
Short answer yes,
Reality it's going to be a complicated

I am really interested in purchasing a smart watch and I have been looking at the gear since I currently have a note3. My problem is I always flashing AOSP based Roms once they become available and I don't want this $300 watch to become useless once I do. How much functionality is retained when running on an AOSP based ROM like cm, pa or aokp? And I remember some people were complaining about notifications not working for all apps has there been a fix?

There has not, Touchwiz is the only way to receive notifications at this time..
Perhaps in the future, once ATN becomes more stable it could work on AOSP.
Thanks for the reply. Sadly that's a deal breaker lol if you don't mind what's ATN?

search before making new threads (no offense) ..
also the previous answer was misleading liek the watch is NOT useless on aosp
I been waiting on development about this my self to , others finding this thread thru the web could think it s the only source for it .
So even if we get the ability to flash a custom rom. Would the pen work in an AOSP based ROM? Or are the pen featured tied into touchwiz?
If so, wouldn't focusing on modifying stock with tools like wanam be more beneficial?
Just a thought...

AOKP had S-pen support on note 2. Not sure how great it was but I know it was there.

Spen works perfectly on other ROMs. You don't get Samsung-specific app stuff like air hover or what not, and SPen specific apps won't work, ie: those using the Samsung SPen SDK. There are plenty of drawing apps etc that provide a similar toolbox but have no dependencies on a Samsung ROM.
Just curious, I ve read in nexus thread they will support some of their device. Even my old nexus 7 will be official supported by Google. I also read Google I/o that with the new feature of chromcast we can do mirroring and one of the supported device is our lg. But to do so we have to received new menu called cast out if I m not mistaken. And that menu will only appear in android L. Doesn t it make sense.
Sorry mod if this thread a little out of the topic.
Thanks

Officially, depends if LG does an update for it.
Unofficially I'd expect some features to be ported over or AOSP roms based on the latest version once the source is out.
Thanks, can't wait to see some great dev ported to some ROM with android L taste ?

Hi,
I need my Z3 Compact to run Android version 4.2 or lower but I can't (downgrade or) find any ROMs for it, any ideas??
I love my Z3c and wanna use for work but my company has this app that needs Android 4.2 or lower to run... The z3c already comes with Android 4.4.4 so is it impossible to find, downgrade or modify a z3c ROM running Android 4.2 ??
(Technically the app needs a firewall and a VPN running which uses the tun0 tunneling interface which is disabled after Android 4.4)
Any ideas?

I don't think that is possible.

I was hoping that may be something is possible to develop like using cyanogen mode or something.
It sure is possible in theory but in practice why would someone bother spending time for developing an older version, is the hard question, I think..?

Theoretically it is possible to backport an older CM ROM for Z3C, but good luck finding anyone who wants to do that.
Hi mates,
I'm hoping someone wants to help me.
I'm running sense 6 lollipop (insertcoin 6.0.5) and I was wondering if encryption is already turned off? I know encryption is a software layer and can have a huge performance / battery hit, so I want to make sure its off.
Does anyone know how to turn it off (if it's not off already?)

it's under settings / Storage / Phone Storage Encryption
Is that the encryption that was introduced in lollipop?

Yes and it was only turned on by default on the nexus 6, Which google is even backing out of and not doing it anymore.
