[Q] Voice Cut Outs - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

During phone calls, my wife's phone drops audio (both ways) for a few seconds. This seems to happen randomly and occurs between mobile to mobile and mobile to landline. She is running stock 5.1 and the issue has persisted through a factory reset.
Anyone have any ideas?

Same. I think it's a nexus 6 thing with our radios. I haven't been impressed with the call quality and signal...

What carrier? Are you using VoLTE?

Vzw, I have it turned off.

Verizon with VoLTE provisioned. Maybe we can turn it off
What is really odd is that it occurs on non-VoLTE calls (mobile to land line).

Still using VOLTE (4G) on your end. I had same problem so turned it off and problem went away. Flashed back to original radio instead of Verizon build.

Can't make calls

For some reason I can't make calls. I'm using the stock dialer on a stock rooted ROM (see sig).
I dial a number and it looks like it's working (the call timer starts counting and what not) but it never actually calls. Just silence.
I haven't been able to test receiving calls yet but I did at least get some missed calls earlier when I was away from my phone (it was when I tried to return those calls that I discovered this problem).
I'm on Verizon. I have LTE set as my "Preferred Network Type" in Cellular Settings. Data works fine in both LTE and 3G areas. Texts work fine. Just calling seems broken.
Had anyone seen or heard of this? I searched this forum but didn't find anything.
poor connectivity on WIFI network on nexus 6
I also face the problem if not able to make/receive calls when WIFI network is activated.

Are you on the 98r radio? That's the one that ships with the Verizon branded Nexus devices and is different from the radios in the other 5.1 builds.

missing/disappearing calls with tmobile s6

Hi does anyone else have disappearing calls when connected to LTE using a tmobile based s6?
This issue only occurs when LTE is active.
An incoming call will ring once or twice and go straight to voice-mail even though I have full bars

Go to your Phone App settings and turn off Wifi calling and VoLTE.
I'm sorry I have already disabled WiFi calling, and the problem persists but also - I don't have a separate 'VolTE' setting to toggle. Is it because it only appears if I have a T-mobile sim card inserted?
Thanks for your help!
EDIT for anyone who may run in to this issue: I fixed this by flashing Emporia Rom by iB4STiD, it seems to disable whatever t-mobile left over sorcery that was messing with AT&T calling because the rom is not based on t-mobile firmware
Now the calls come through 99% of the time but sometimes takes about 5 rings to connect to me. . arrr

happens to me on even international firmware too. only works well right when i reboot the phone.
I have this issue also with a tmobile s6 on att. What method did you use to unlock the phone? I used the metro pcs firmware to unlock the phone and when I updated to 5.1.1 is when all the issues started. On 5.0.2 I used the tmobile unlock app and everything worked perfect. I receive one in every 3 incoming calls, like you said it rings twice and mine doesn't even go my voicemail, it just says "the wireless number you are trying to contact is unavailable then hangs up", out going calls take 30 seconds to a minute to connect, very annoying. Talked with att on the phone for hours about this problem and they cant seem to get it fixed on their end.
Same...I disabled lte and just use 4g, seems to work fine.

VOLTE T-Mobile, not working (WORKING as of last update)

I'm experiencing issues with VOLTE on T-Mobile. My phone switches immediately from an LTE+ DATA connection to HSPA the moment a call is placed. Of course, VOLTE is enabled on the settings side. I'm running an unmodified system, upgraded to PIE.
I've been on the phone with T-Mo to make sure the APN is correct (nothing special to mention here). I've also tried different connection combinations using the *#*#4636#*#* with different results but, even though the phone connects really fast to DATA (LTE+), I cannot get VOLTE to function in any case. On the other hand, WiFi calling works just fine.
On a chat with Razer, they just told me that VOLTE is unstable with T-Mobile and, to disable the function altogether from settings.
Before I give up, I'm asking the geniuses here for ideas or experiences? Any ideas anyone?

I hope this can be figured out. Im waiting for my Razer 2 phone delivery and also on T-Mobile. What OS are you running? Android Pie?
Yes, I'm on Pie.
Good news! with today's update (3-20-2019), my phone is using VOLTE technologies to connect audio calls. Phone calls sound immensely better now (the "HD" icon shows up during the call and the "LTE+" connection indicator in the status bar remains through the call).

WiFi Calling on Mint

Has anyone succesfully gotten their Pixel 5 to work with WiFi Calling on mint? It seems like I can but after a while it won't work. If I make an outgoing call on wifi calling, it will attempt for about a second and then hang up. Even after turning wifi calling off I have to reboot before it'll use the cellular network for the call instead. If I turn it on again, it seems to work for a little while, but only a little while. It's really frustrating.

Let Ryan Reynolds know! Just kidding, sorry to hear that. I have ATT so I can't weigh in.

Yep, I even contacted support and bugged them about it. The support person just disabled/enabled it for me. It worked for a bit but only for a bit.
Similiar Problem.

I read about a problem like this on facebook that a guy was having, he'd have to reboot to get calling to work and he'd miss some incoming calls.
I bought my wife a Pixel 5, it's too small for me and I even tried turning off WiFi Calling completely but occasionally it won't call out until she reboots it.
I have to think that this must be a software issue. I'm going to try disabling WiFI calling in Mint's settings too.
I did notice that if you put a Pixel 5 imei number in the phone compatibility checker, it says it doesn't support all features.
I found a page on the Pixel 4a 5G which said that they aren't selling the Pixel 5 but are working with google to fully support it.
Can any other T-mobile users weigh in? Is this a problem your experiencing or is it strictly a Mint Mobile issue?
Thanks

The turning off and back on occasionally is a little odd because of a problem I had on my previous phone, a Galaxy S10. At the time I was also on a AT&T/T-Mobile MVNO (Consumer Cellular) and I had to turn it off occasionally before it would call out and wifi calling would come and go. The only thing was, it was on Android 10, but it had the exact same problem and by coincidence both our phones were on MVNO's with the same parent networks. After I got the Pixel, I couldn't get wifi calling no matter what Consumer Cellular did, but this past weekend I switched to Verizon and everything is OK now.

Hmm, that's disappointing. It's really the only complaint I have though. I'll take $15/month over $50+ anyday if all I lose is wifi calling.
I'll be switching over to Mint shortly, hopefully it works well otherwise!! (I've been using Straight Talk for years)

WiFi calling issues

Hi I have a refurbished S10 from the iOutlet, works OK apart from WiFi calling. I can hear the other caller but they find the conversation at a very low level and distorted. Works fine externally using a 4G signal which rules out the microphone and WiFi calling is spot on at home for my wife on her iPhone 11 Pro which clears the router. I have tried the usual things, switching WiFi calling off and back on, taking the sim and even factory reset the phone. I have noticed that the phone must have been on O2 from new as the firmware appears to be customised with none removable O2 apps. I also noticed that the wifi calling symbol is not constant and flickers - could the O2 modified firmware affect WiFi calling, I'm on a Smarty mobile sim, the same used to happen when I was on EE a few months ago, thanks
