[Q] LT30 black screen, red led, help please! - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hello guys,
I hope to find help with my sons Xperia T, he bricked it somehow. It was rooted, when I gave it to him ...
The phone shows only a black screen, the led turns blue for a few seconds when the phone starts but then goes off. When connected to the computer the led turns red and stays red (no blinking), pc companion is unable to communicate with the phone. Flashtool shows the following information:
"04/020/2015 15:20:50 - INFO - Connected device : Sony Xperia T
04/020/2015 15:20:51 - INFO - Installed version of busybox : BusyBox v1.20.2-Stericson (2012-07-04 21:33:31 CDT) multi-call binary.

04/020/2015 15:20:51 - INFO - Checking root access
04/020/2015 15:20:52 - INFO - Root access denied"
I can not flash the phone because I can't turn it off and "push the back button" as indicated by flashtool (latest version 0.9.18.6) - obviously I don't see any prompts on the black screen. Leaving the phone to uncharge and recharge did not help, several hard resets did not help. Do you have any helpful suggestions?
Thank you, cheers

Replace your battery. You have a dead battery that's why.

SOD Problem!!!!
This is I think the Sleep Of Death Problem it happened for my first Xperia T and I couldn't do anything about it so I replaced it and the problem never showed again but I think you may have to use Flash Tool to flash ROM manually (I didn't try it back then)

bricked or asleep ?

I think it's SOD and when it happened to my phone I couldn't connect it to the PC neither flashing a ROM using Flash Tool and after that I replaced the phone with new one " I have been always encountering a boot loop or soft brick and always I find a way to make the phone run again but with SOD whatever I done is the same and the phone won't work at least with my own experience "

[SOLVED][Q] Xperia T Semi or hard brick?

Hi, I've been following XDA for some time and successfully rooted my older phones since the X10. I ran into trouble with my Xperia T though after attempting to upgrade it to 9.1.A.195. Something went awry after following (as closely as I thought I had done) the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43953283
The outcome of it was that my phone is now completely unresponsive, I found another thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2243299&page=2 which shows how to possibly recover a brick, but I'm wondering if any of you knowledgeable types can offer me any words of wisdom?
The Xperia T was just showing the initial "Sony" boot label and going no further, I left it on that screen alone to run out overnight as per the second thread, at the moment I'm guessing it's not quite run out as if I try to turn it on, I don't get anything on the screen, but the red LED flashes a few times. If I connect it to a charger now it goes back to turning on and only displaying the "Sony" boot label.
Is this Xperia a dead duck or can I fix it??
Hard reset it and repair using pccompanion if you have a locked bootloader.
If you have unlocked the bootloader then hard reset it and flash a stock ftf, wipe everything and exclude nothing

Hi, I think it's dead I've been trying to PC Companion repair it, but it keeps disconnecting from PC Companion, I'm going to leave it to charge fully then try again. PC Companion was able to resume the download portion each time it disconnected, but now it's got to the update part it needs to start from scratch, but it looks to disconnect/reboot or something each time which interrupts the update process.
What I did, from memory, was to CWM flash .195 and kernel, on reboot it just came up with the "Sony" badge and went no further. I can't get back into CWM. I can't use flashmode in flashtool either as I can't connect the phone using the up or down volume. The only thing that seems to be working is the soft and hard reboot as I can feel the 1 or 3 vibrate happening. Once I reconnect now using PCC it connects for a short while then disconnects, nothing visible on the screen.

when you say you flashed .195, my firmware is .145, .195 is an ICS firmware, so if you've cross flashed then this is what is causing the problem. If you can get to the sony screen there should be a way to fix it!
Are you sure you can't enter flashmode? try again. turn the phone off, open flashtool, put the cable into the PC, not your phone, then hold the down button and don't let go, then connect the cable whilst still holding the down button.
EDIT: to confirm you do have the Xperia T, LT30p?
not LT30a and the TX?

Ooops, typo, I was flashing to 9.1.A.1.145 from locked and rooted ICS.
When the LT30p gets enough battery it turns on, takes about 1 second to show the "Sony" label (after that is normally the "Xperia" label then the swooshing colours before the Android OS). I've left it on charge for the moment, it's showing a red LED.

I left it on overnight, Sony was displayed until I guess it ran out of battery. I haven't re-tried flashtool yet, charging it back up again.
Infact, I'm not sure if it got a partial update on PCC, but it doesn't look to be turning on now, not sure why. If I press the on button the red LED flashes, if I try to reset I just get the red LED flashing again.
If I connect it to flashtool, Sony is displayed, I get the following on flashtool:

you're getting into flashtool, you'll be fine.
that's fine, when it does that, just take the phone out and connect again.
mine does this so it's normal.
Try, putting the FTF in first, then click ok or whatever to flash, then it'll say connect the phone, so connect the phone
You need usb debugging on.
So you will have to repair with pcccompanion before flashing with flashtool

Holy **** sticks! I don't know how many times I tried doing the same thing over and over and over, but PCC ended up getting it's hooks in after the n'th attempt and I now have stock 9.1.A.1.145 installed! Looks like the official Sony PCC upgrade is Polish which is a bit weird, but I've got it into English anyway.
Am I chuffed?? Too bloody right I am!!
How many thanks can I give in one thread? I am very chuffed that you guys insisted that it wasn't a lost cause.
Last brave question from me... can I root the official 9.1.A.1.145

My xperia z thinks it's Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys, i bought phone off ebay and under model number it says: "Galaxy Nexus". Everything works fine, it has all Sony features and is definitely not a galaxy nexus .
I know i need root to change build.prop, but i can't achieve it since doomlord's tool says galaxy nexus is not supported. (it's 6602 on 10.3.A.0.423 firmware btw)
Here's what it says:
Device detected: Galaxy Nexus (10.3.A.0.423)
Galaxy Nexus (10.3.A.0.423) is not supported.
You need to manage to get remap_pfn_range addresses.

Unlocking bootloader and reflashing tft is not an option for me, since i still want to preserve TA partition.
P.S.
doomlord if by any chance you're reading this, can you please add exception to your tool for it to accept Galaxy Nexus (10.3.A.0.423) and send it to me?
Try to reflash the firmware with flashtool.
I'm trying to do that, but phone restarts in about 20 seconds when it's in flashmode.
Flashtool is still unpacking firmware when phone already reboot by itself. I have all drivers installed correctly and am using windows 8.
Maybe that's the problem?

Instead of a normal power off,try a hard reset i.e. Hold Volume up & Power Button for 15 seconds.Release when u feel 3 vibrations. Then try to flash again.
thanks for such swift responses guys.
But i still got the same problem. Flashtool sees it, does nothing and after a while phone restarts.

can anybody come with this solution........?
as I said in the other thread, turn on usb debugging
if you cant do anything and powering on or connecting your phone to computer or charging it just makes the red led blink, it means its hard bricked. you may need to use test point
but if you dont have baseband and your device runs, try to flash a new modem(i dont know if its available for z1 or not)
and as i see you were trying to flash a much old ftf ... after 4.3 , flashing older than them will make the modem not work.so if you can get in to flash mode try to flash a newer frameware

Open Flash Tools, select FTF and wait till it says connect your phone. Now hold down volume and plug in USB to PC
If continued, be happy
If not, unplug fully, and then again hold down volume, and then a bit plug in, like image in the link below

I think I got what you said
By this method, maybe PC says USB not recognized, but flashing will be done, with no problem

MR. Saeed, as he says, its hard bricked . no flash mode or anything..fully dead.. so he cant do anything with flashtool.. seams just opening the phone and fix it in emergency mod is the only solution here ...

Next time do not be so fast and lazy to read instructions provided by developer of the thing you have flashed. Being fast and thinking wrong and fast sometimes produce fatal thing to the your phone. I am sure you will be no lazy next time and I am sure you will be very careful in operations with your next phone
Whats happening when you press and hold for about 5 secconds power + volumeup button? If you see vibration than you are not in hard brick! If there is no vibration but your phone flashing red all time than its hard brick! If not hard brick you can enter into fastboot mode: disconnect usb cable, press and hold power+volume up until you see vibration, than hold volume up button and in same time connect usb cable. After than you must see blue led! If no blue led than probably try to replace usb drivers by installing sony pc companion, reboot computer after that! Allso make sure comuter device manager detect your phone propertly! After that try again all steps. If this not help and you have red light all time than probably your phone is dead! Hope this help.

Hard Bricked Z3compact

Hi evryone.
I was trying to install cyanogenmod on my phone, but after getting the root acess, when i tried to to install it, it said that there was some kind of problem because the nightly rom i had on my Sd wasnt the right one for my model.
I wanted to place the links for the cyanogenmod rom i downloaded and the tutorial i followed to install it, but since this is my first post, XDA doesnt allow me to place any outside links.
Now whenever i boot my phone it stops on the Sony experia screen and it doens do anything else. No other menus. Just the Sony screen. The only command it receives is the Power and Vol up to turn it down again.
Please, is there any solution? Is my phone 100% bricked? Is there anyway to connect it to the pc and place the Xperia original files/rom manually??
I sent an email to sony even tough i know my warranty is voided. I have had some other problems with their assistence so i dont expect much help.
I just cant afford another selfphone and my mother´ll be super mad if i tell her i bricked it.
Thank you.

This is becoming common
It is only a soft brick DO NOT WORRY - I have also done this, and seems most common with older versions of TWRP
Download flashtool and download a .ftf file from HERE (anyone will do they are all the same)
now open up flashtool and it will tell you to move files from *folder* to *.flashtool folder* also place the .ftf file in the new folder
now click the lightning symbol - flashmode
click the firmware you downloaded
and click flash
now on your device hold down the POWER + VOLUME buttons until the device vibrates 3 times (this will turn it off)
hold the VOLUME DOWN ( & nothing else - make sure the phone is off for this) while holding vol down, plug the phone into the computer. You should see the led turn red then green/blue
flashtool will now see the device in flashmode and flash the firmware (when the firmware has been read by flashtool)

I am now downloading the files. Thank you so much for your help.
I think it is important to mention that I have formatted the internal storage. and wiped the data and user cache. The error message saying it wasnt the right rom appeard after e formatted it. Is this still a soft brick? :/

Yep, from experience I don't think it is actually possible to hard brick the Z3C (I might be wrong)
If the device still reboots when the volume buttons are pressed, your phone is recoverable <--- Soft Brick
If the device is on a black screen and it won't reboot, the phone is not recoverable <--- Hard Brick

I think important and useful steps and tutorials like these should be gathered in a FAQ thread and be sticked. All frequent problems and solutions are all over the place and we need such tutorials an solutions in an easy accesible place.
I think I really hard-bricked my Z3C... flashed a recovery with TWRP, which got a custom theme with extra features (able to flash .img files) made by @z31s1g. Now my device won't reboot nor enter flash mode or fastboot mode - just red LED is blinking when connecting to USB, screen is black (no Sony logo or anything). When trying to boot it vibrates one time, but doesn't do anything...
Any chance to get it working again without sending it to Sony?
Edit:
Sony sent me a new phone, did not have to pay anything, as it seems they couldn't repair it and weren't even able to recognize that my TA was deleted... So got it as a warranty "repair".
What?!?! Ive been reading it all wrong, i can get a new phone for making a problem, as they dont care about their own faults
btw how did you brick it? just curious for developement

Same thing happened to me. I downloaded an older version of flashtool (0.9.18.6) because I couldn't get the newer versions to work and I flashed a stock kitkat rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/list-stock-firmwares-d5803-d5833-t2906706 (Specifically the "23.0.A.2.93 - Unbranded - USA (1289-7524)" version - make sure you get the right version for your model). With this process, you don't need to turn your phone on. Just make sure you know how to use flashtool correctly.
That's all I did. Let me know if it doesn't work.

Did it complain about not being able to find drivers for your device? That's what it says when I plug my Z3c in. And I've attempted to install drivers using the drivers tool in flashtool/drivers/.

I created an account to say that this method works. However, using flashtool (using windows 10) can create a small problem because on mine (at least at the start) the drivers would not load. The workout involves going to advanced startup and getting windows to boot without driver signing. I'm sure that you can download something that permanently disables it, also. Using that, I was able to install every driver without a problem. Just be sure to reboot normally or you might run into issues when flashing (I was unable to flash properly until I restarted).

Thanks! This worked! Any idea on how to avoid getting stuck in this loop while rooting the phone?
Hi Guys,
Unfortunately, I think I'm closer to the subject title: HardBricked
My compact Z3 is completely bricked ... due to severe, numerous & disorganized flash.
- No boot at all: backlight but no display.
- No more access to fastboot or TWRP recovery
- FlashTool and its flashmode seem to work: I manage to block / unblock the bootloader,
- But flashing does not work.
I'm under Gnu/Linux, but I'Ve tried with Win7 (drivers Ok) with the same result.
Here is FlashTool log:

Hi
Can someone suggest a way fwd, I have an z3c I was trying to press back into life with an OS new enough for messenger etc.
I was following the instructions from LinageOS 16, got thru unlocking and into fastboot, all going as described until it said sideload the package. When I did this the UI on the phone said the package was for z3c and that my phone was a ".".
Part of the linageos instructions were to wipe parts of memory and cache, which I think is why when I reboot the phone now, it just sticks on the logo, I cannot get back to the fastboot UI either.
Using the flashtool on my PC I can still connect and load the stock fw but it makes no difference.
I did backup a couple of sections, with TWRP, I thought to the sdcard, before I started, but I cannot see them on the card now, could they be hidden?
Or have I done the impossible and really bricked a z3c?
Chris

1. Download "C5303_12.1.A.1.207_AU.ftf" (Stock firmware) from here
2. Take of your back cover.
3. Open Flashtool (I expect you to have the Xperia SP drivers installed).
4. Turn off your phone by taking a pen and pressing the "off" hole and wait until it has vibrated 3x.
5. Press volume up (to get into flash mode) and connect your USB cable to the computer and wait until you get a green light.
6. Click on the flash icon in Flashtool and select flash mode. Now select the folder "Downloads" and select the "C5303_12.1.A.1.207_AU.ftf" file you have downloaded and wait 5-10 minutes.
hi, thx for advice.

You need to install drivers again. They seem to be broken. Are you using Windows 8.1??
If yes, then disable driver signature verification and then install the drivers again.

Debugging mode is only for a phone in turned on state.
When you flash the device you do it in Flashmode which has nothing to do with debugging mode on or off.
Just press the "Flash" button.
